I used the dance room with mirrors to host a dance class. It was great! The room had full length mirrors and there was great lighting. There was beam lights, blue lights, and a Disco Ball. Mr. Roger up at the front desk was very kind and extremely informative and helpful. I cannot wait to hopefully use this space again. Ten out of ten, I would recommend! Thank you Altro Fitness for a great dance space!

Altro is an average low-cost gym. It’s great if you’re looking for something cheap and easy to use, but it’s not for you if you want high quality equipment, expanded hours, or cleanliness.

Pros:

- low cost
- friendly staff
- good amount of equipment
- convenient to those living on 16

Cons:

- outdated and worn
- cleanliness is very sub par
- the “athletic training” style room is really beat up with no running HVAC, no drop ceiling, and only half the lights are operational
- limited weekend hours
- they do not make repairs quickly

Really it's not the gym just the owner/ gym manager unsure his title. He's extremely rude. I was once a member and decided not to rejoin but occasionally to switch it up go in for a day pass. Only $10 to go in for the day...... Too make a awful long experience short he is all about $$$ he approached me while working out 2 times infront of people trying to figure out why I hadn't paid and then went on to accuse me of trying to basically pull a fast one (over $10.00) ..... I offered to pay twice when I got there. I was told to not worry about it.....Then as I am leaving he gets rushing like as if I was going to escapesa if if I was going to pay $10.00. I of course paid just to not cause a scene however I'll never go back. He has lost so many clients because he is just a nightmare and makes working out very uncomfortable.

Altro Fitness is perfect for every person of every fitness level. It has plenty of free weights, state-of-the-art machines and equipment, a yoga/stretching/Zumba room, plenty of treadmills and ellipticals, and a whole other room dedicated to CrossFit. The locker rooms/bathrooms are a little small, but they still have everything you need. This place is great! Great atmosphere and set up. I came to St Augustine from out of town to visit family and needed a place to workout and get my sweat on, and the manager was extremely nice and allowed me to workout there. I 100% recommend this place! You will NOT be disappointed. Next time I’m in town I know where I will go. Thank you again! Go check ‘em out!

The owner Roger, is very rude, and it made me uncomfortable, I had to cancel, the equipment is old and dingy, and looks like it doesn't get maintained or anything, the gym itself is also dirty. I would recommend another gym. I only gave 1 star because it was a minimum.

Wasnt a fan from the start. Just not my type of atmosphere. No big deal. The problem came when I went to cancel my membership. I called and was told I needed to send an email with the date I wanted to cancel with my name and that I would be charged for an extra month due to 30 day notice (also, no big deal) I was charged again making this an extra month of being charged anyhow and when I called I was placed on hold for 10 minutes then when they finally got back on the phone to tell me my email was not received I asked for an alternative and the manager Roger laughed at me and said if I knew the email why wasnt one sent?. Of course that upset me because I did send it but obviously it wasnt received so I confirmed the email, screenshotted my email screen amd resent it while on the line. I had been told before that it was an issue to cancel and not continously be charged but this was ridiculous. He was rude and very unprofessional at handling this matter.

I love the comfortable wide open non cluttered atmosphere. The music is great and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. When I go in, I feel as if this is MY gym! They ask what things we would like to see put in there, and it usually happens. The back combat sports room is fully functional and the classes are professional and THEY WORK! I'm proud of all my friends there and love to call this MY GYM!

I would not sign up for this gym inless you're 100 percent sure you want to get ripped off like I did. The moment I walked in there, the environment was negative but I had a friend who attended that gym and wanted me to join with her. I paid 60$ to join (omg mini heart attack) tried it out that day and instantly disliked my experience. The manager is rude, asked for my money back and a weeks argument I only got 25$ back. Needless to say I paid 35$ for one day of trying this gym out, when they're suppose to let you try it out q day anyways? Their machines are limited and also their hours of availability. I work different hours and never on their schedule. Save yourself an arguement and money. Go to world gym or planet fitness. They're all so nice and open 24hrs tanning and showers included. Don't make the mistake I made!

DON'T get a membership here. I moved down to STA for 3 months. I was told by one of the employees that there would be a roughly $45 dollar startup fee and $15/month each month. He also said they were running a special where the second month would be free. For three months, this would come to $75. About halfway through the second months, I noticed they charged me for the second month (when it should've been free). I spoke to the employee about it and he said it would be taken care of. It wasn't. After the second month, I was told that my original paperwork was lost, and that I needed to fill it out again, so I did. I didn't look to closely at it, which was my mistake, but they had my signature on a sheet agreeing to another $30 admin fee. So come time to end my membership, I get a notice from a collection agency that I owe them more money. After talking with the owner, he basically chalked it up to both his employees not being careful and to me being stupid. He also basically claimed that having hidden fees was okay because other large corporations do it (i.e. XFINITY, etc.). All in all, my $75 three month membership turned into $120. The fact that I payed nearly double is unfortunate, but whats worse was the poor business practice and etiquette from the employees and the owner himself. Would recommend looking for another gym.

Very modern and clean gym never smells bad. The staff always has an answer to any question about workouts and nutrition. I really enjoy the room for cardio and legs. It makes me feel like I'm at two separate gyms. Plus the classes are so fun Spin and Yoga are my favorite! I will recommend this place to all my friends. Keep it up Altro
