I’ve been going to Amped for almost a year 🤯and love it so much! It’s my favorite gym and hiring Anastasia Beglet as my personal trainer has been the best decision I’ve made for my fitness journey.

When I started with her six months ago, i was coming off a bulk and round of steroids (not the fun kind). Losing fat felt like a challenge even though I’d done it before. She took my body fat from 21.5% to 15% and I couldn’t be happier with my progress! She’s amazing if you’re looking for someone who can work with individuals who are neurotypical. She’s great about letting me move my appointments when I’m overstimulated, and I really appreciate the energy she puts into our sessions and the personal touches she gives to my program. Highly recommend her if you’re looking for a woman who builds other women up. And that pretty much goes for everyone working at Amped (especially Ashley too🥰). So if you’re looking for a good place to work out and take your fitness to the next level, Amped is the place to be😎

I was denied access to this location for wearing 100% cotton pants and t-shirt instead of polyester gymwear. The employee (aspiring fashion policeman and polyester lobbyist) said he was worried that my cotton pants would tear up the equipment, despite the fact that I have worked out in cotton clothing for years at different gyms (including Amped) without any damage to equipment.

Additionally, polyester is very toxic to the body - especially during exercise (and in a gym like Amped that doesn’t have working air conditioning) - your pores open up and absorb harmful petrochemicals (phthalates, bisphenols) and xenoestrogens from the material. This is not speculation, it has been thoroughly researched.

I will be working out elsewhere while wearing cotton clothing.

Last January members received an email stating that our monthly membership would be increasing by approx. $5 per month. We were told that the increase was necessary in order to provide the maintenance and upgrading of the "state of the art" equipment and adding new amenities to meet the highest standards. Well, here it is 10 months later and there have been no upgrades or new equipment, no amenities added. Current equipment is maintained at the lowest levels. Treadmills remain unlevel and sound like they are gong to take off as speed is increased. Yet Amped has opened several new facilities while downtown has seen NO CHANGES. I am happy to pay a price increase but I am not happy to fund other locations that do not benefit the members here. Your staff is great and is also unaware of when these supposed changes will take place. I have been told several different time lines none of which occur. Management should at least give members an honest update as to these promised upgrades, none have been given. And on top of it all, the air conditioning at this location has been down for days now. There is one house fan that was put at the back of the gym which does not really do anything for comfort levels.
PLEASE UPGRADE AS PROMISED!!

I signed up for this gym while I was in town on a 3-month work contract. When I asked about fees, the staff member told me it was strictly month-to-month. I paid for the first month, but after my employment ended three weeks later, I cancelled my membership.

A week later, I was charged an unexpected $50 “annual fee.” When I called to ask about it, the person who answered was dismissive and insisted that “everyone is told about the annual fee,” even though this was never mentioned to me. Instead of listening, he essentially called me a liar and said, “this isn’t my first rodeo—deal with it.”

The contract is signed digitally without being fully explained, which makes it easy for details like this to be overlooked (or in my case, never explained). On top of that, the gym itself is very small with limited equipment.

Overall, I was shocked by the unprofessional attitude and felt misled. I would caution others to ask for every fee in writing before signing anything.

So been coming to downtown amped for year and half now and I have to say great staff all the way around.One of best general managers I've met is steve questel great attitude and always motivating and very social with person.Another great person is Ashley Little ☺️ super cool girl and always greets me at door and really friendly to talk to, also her personality is very bubbly and down to earth and she got me a amped shirt very sweet of her to do. Then had to pay for the second month, now just got charged another $85 two months later. So far im almost $200 in to amped fitness for 3 days of going to that gym. Decent gym!

I am visiting my brother in St Pete and go to the gym regularly back home. Saw this place had a free 1 day trial and took my local brother to test it out. Despite their advertising, I got charged $10 for not being local.

I don't mind paying, but I dislike the misleading advertising is all. Just say it's free for those in county. Otherwise you're going to get 1 star reviews you won't have the opportunity to change.

I’m reluctant to leave this review because in general I like Amped Fitness but I’m hoping if I say something, something will change. It just doesn’t feel safe coming in and out of the gym. I’ve been a member for several years and use multiple Amped locations across Pinellas and Manatee Counties on a regular basis, and this is the only one where I repeatedly feel unsafe. There is a dollar store next door and the parking lot is not well lit and there are often people loitering in the parking lot. More than a few times I have asked someone to walk me to my car because there’s a suspicious person loitering my car or calling out to me. The Pinellas Park location has similar issues but less because it is well lit and there are periodic, regular police patrols scanning the lot. It’s enough that if something doesn’t change, I’m cancelling my membership altogether. It’s a simple fix, fix the lights, ask for more security. We love your gym, my boyfriend and I come here at least 4 days a week and the gym itself is well lit and has well-maintained, clean equipment.

The perfect example of a mid gym. Cost-wise, there aren't any better options in DTSP but in hindsight I should have just gone to the Crunch on 4th. It's much nicer and has a lot more equipment. This specific gym is very small, has very limited equipment, and is just old - it feels crowded at almost all times of the day given the size. No frills, which is not a bad thing. In my opinion, this is a 3-star gym in terms of quality, however, the whole cancellation process is just absurd. There are a bunch of vague fees that keep adding up. Here's the kicker: you HAVE to make these payments at the actual gym. No online payment processing. In my case, I just moved and after I thought I had made my final payments, another $16 fee popped up and there was no way to pay it online. Ridiculous that I now have to drive more than an hour just to make a $16 payment. That's where I find a problem with this gym's antiquated atmosphere and systems. The convenience factor is just not there. If you are planning on staying locally in DSTP for some time, this gym gets the job done, but be wary of the whole cancellation process and don't expect a great lifting experience here. **UPDATE** Went to make my final $16 payment in store. This payment rose to $86 without me being notified. Apparently my credit card, which I use EVERY DAY, conveniently declined in the final month. As a result, my annual membership automatically renewed and was charged to me WITHOUT NOTIFICATION. Absolutely scummy business model. The person at the front desk herself admitted that this has been happening pretty often with customer. Absolutely insane. There's no way to change your payment online, you HAVE to call or pay in person. And when you think you are good, your card conveniently is declined through their system even though you've been using it elsewhere without interruption. Again, absolutely scummy. I wouldn't doubt that this gym has collected thousands each year from this little inconvenience. Knowing this, I will never go anywhere near an Amped gym again. You've been sufficiently warned.

Amped is a great gym. I worked out there daily during peak hours over the past 3 years. It’s a typical gym and can get somewhat crowded early in the week during those peak hours, but it gets better as the week progresses. It isn’t overwhelming and you can still typically get in a good workout without having to wait on equipment. The crowd is more mid to late 20 year olds through people in their 40s or 50s who are mostly there to work out, and not just be seen.

The location is pretty easy to get in and out of. The parking lot's aisles are one-way, some people can't seem to figure that part out though. During baseball season it can be challenging to get to the gym's parking lot and find parking if you go around the start of the game. Traffic gets a little heavy, and they sell game parking spots in the gym parking lot. I guess you do not have to worry about that this season though. There are some people who may be homeless in the area that have memberships for the showers and to charge their phones. This may bother some people.

The gym’s size is a little on the smaller side. However, there are rumors about them expanding into the shop next door. So hopefully most of the gyms issues of not having enough/proper equipment or space is solved. The first 2.5 years I worked out there I do not think they purchased much new equipment. But they have started to do more of that lately. Hopefully they invest in a deadlift platform in the new space as that is something that is currently missing.

Their staff is always nice, although staff working the front desk is constantly changing. A few of the trainers have been there a long time though and are great. If you are new to the gym or just want someone to push you, I recommend them.

Overall, the gym is great for its size, is a fair price, in a decent location, and people going there are focused on themselves. It’s a good place to go if you live or work in the downtown area.

A friendly staff member is there during business hours, and there is 24/7 acces via a bluetooth/tag lock. This gym has all of the equipment you would need in order to do some serious weightlifting. There are multiples of most popular machines (bench press and multi directiinal cable pulls), but there is some hang-up on a few that there is only one of (pec fly and leg press). This Amped doesn't have the add ons that the others do in the way of tanning beds, massage tables, and red light therapy. It is strictly weights, cardio, and machines. Overall, it is a decent size and isn't too crowded outside of the after work and lunch crowd.

The wife and I were looking for a gum that was close, open super early, and that wasn't too busy. Well, it hit most of the points but still had some issues. Being in the heart of downtown St. Pete, you have to expect a certain amount of vagrancy but you have to draw the line at some point. There is someone literally living in the locker room. Most of the other guests are rather nice and keep to themselves but there's no shortage of those who feel they're time is more important than yours. We were members for 6 months or so but canceled due to our inability to be comfortable. The gun itself is rather nice. The equipment is modern and clean, and no shortage of it. It just wasn't our cup of tea. Were told that the location is scheduled for an expansion and overhaul but we just couldn't wait around. 3/5, wouldn't recommend if your not at a the level of a pro athlete.

Their website does not disclose all their fees until you are already in a contract, I went in on a new years special online. When I got the official contract I saw the added fees after 30days and went in same day to cancel, the guy at the front desk was kind enough to waive the yearly fee but not the monthly fee. They lock you in a contract and it does not look near like advertised. Highly suggest a gym with more integrity.

Gym is fine. Machinery always breaks. But the worst is the music. Horrible music taste. Imagine Katy Perry and then extreme dubstep following it.
Today the music decided to cut in and out every 5 seconds.

Management won’t change the music despite how their patrons and trainers feel about it.

I will be ending my membership by the end of January if this does not change.

Was unclear about some stuff in the gym and the manager reached out personally to clear up any questions I'd had. A beautiful case of customer service in the community. Signed up as being one of the most all around gyms (being they have hack squat machines and other things) and it's 24/7 at an affordable price. Only regret is I hadn't signed up sooner! I love it here. The staff is so friendly, the facility is nice, it has everything one could need. It's rules steer away influencers and showy types which I appreciate because I'm shy in the gym and enjoy a space that feels human. This business is unethical. Ive been trying to cancel my membership and personal training since 8/25/24. I’ve sent two certified letters and proof of change of address. (I moved to Washington State) they still kept charging me. So when I was visiting Florida I personally went into the gym spoke with Morgan. He said he would take care of this and cancel. I was still charged. So I stopped all payments to Amped fittness. Now they are sending me to collections. I guess I need a lawyer. Don’t ever sign a contract with this company!!!!

Not a bad gym for the low monthly price! I appreciate that they keep bottles of spray with microfiber towels around the gym for cleaning equipment rather than wasting paper towel. My only complaint is that the water fountain has a bunch of slimy gunk in the drain that makes me want to turn around and leave whenever I see it 🥴

My favorite Amped to attend! I started going mainly for convenience since it was close to home and have 24hr access, however after repeatedly going, I began to enjoy the gym culture/atmosphere of the facility, not only do I have all the equipment I need to complete my workout, the staff are also incredibly friendly and supportive as I regular seek small tips on how to improve my fitness journey! Also, it’s never too crowded, the people who usually come in are respectful and considerate, everybody is just trying to workout so don’t feel uncomfortable trying to find a spot to exercise, space can always been made or shared.

Great no-nonsense gym with plenty of equipment to choose from that’s always clean and in good working order. Pricing is very affordable compared to what you might spend at any other gym in downtown Saint Pete, and there’s no gimmicky theme or marketed lifestyle attached to it - just access to the equipment you need to get a workout.

Staff is always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable - Steve-o, Sven, and everyone else on the team are always great. I haven’t signed on with any of their personal trainers, but I’ve seen them doing sessions with members and they seem attentive and professional.

The laundromat being in the same complex is a big sell if you ask me; get a workout while you wash!

Amped has been my home gym since 2017! Specifically the downtown St. Pete location! I’ve tried other gyms but nothing compares to Amped. The staff and trainers here are personable and welcoming. At my age I've been around the gym scene so I have a good idea of what I like. Amped DTSP is clean with plenty of spray bottles and cloths to clean your space. The locker/bathroom/shower area is clean and disinfected. The staff is friendly and always ready to help. There is a variety of equipment and the other members are courteous. They have an InBody scan so I can keep track of my progress. All that for a reasonable price.

Every time I enter the gym I am greeted with smiles and acknowledgment . I have met great people here and really enjoy my exercise experience. The gym is clean and disinfectant spray is readily available for use on machines. The trainers are constantly busy with people working on their program.

I joined the Gym during a new years sale but due to a family situation I had moved back home before I even set foot in the gym. They required me to send certified mail after I realized they were still charging me. I sent two pieces of certified mail to them with wet signatures and they still charge me membership fees.

This place is awful...the service is just horrific, the membership dept is horrendous too, making members walk in or send letter via special mail to cancel membership, just insane. The place is always too crowded and smells bad and lacks on good equipment. The front desk gal does not even care, as she just explicitly told me so, and so I will have to figure out on my own how to cancel my membership from another state via whatever special mail service they require. Will never ever recommend this place to anyone.
