I have nothing but good things to say about this Clearwater, FL gym... The owners are friendly, the gym is clean, and the amenities are solid. The only improvement I would recommend is adding another non-smith machine squat rack; it backs up during peak hours.

The sign on the door says they close on Wednesday at 8p for Thanksgiving but they kicked me out at 2:30 saying they close at 3p.

I read all the reviews prior to going down and checking the facility out. I called ahead of time and spoke with Mark the owner. He was training a staff member and was very pleasant and accommodating, answered all my questions and the place was clean. It has been 29 plus years since I last joined a gym. I was overly pleased with equipment, space and other patrons. I would recommend this location to anyone. Yes, I joined!!!!

As a paying member I have all access to any gym.had to work remote at the parking lot for personal reasons that day. I figured park there for the restroom and gym afterwork and they locked me out.i went to the guest door so the owners wife could tell me what do I want and that I can't be there because I'm not a paying member for their gym location.she says it doesn't matter what gym I go to just don't go to hers because she doesn't get paid to let people in.its all access.if she can't understand that she needs to give up her gym

The owner is a liar, my key fob always had issues getting into the facility, and could never get ahold of the staff finally when I did get ahold of the owner he said he fixed my key fob and he would not be charging me for the next month for the inconvenience which was a lie, I would not recommend this place to anyone

I joined this gym a few years ago, recently we had a fraud and all my cards were reset during the pandemic, I called the owner to update my billing and he said "you don't have a membership" I laughed and asked him to look again. He came back with " you aren't in the system" . I figured, OK he is super disorganized, I guess that is that and I won't worry about it. So, today I received a collections notice for 215$. I called them directly, no answer. The owner of the collection notice company said it was a non-payment collection. I just don't understand this owner. We live just down the street, we own a business in the same area, We have even hosted parties for his staff, but I don't get the simple courtesy of a phone call? Even after you discovered the account error. Instead, I get silence then forward to collections? Gyms in general are terrible at business, and the ones in Florida take this to a new level, but really....you know the person, they have a business within walking distance and you can't do the due diligence of calling that client to get an updated card during a pandemic. I am continually disappointed in the lack of community respect I have experienced here in Clearwater, but wow...this one takes the cake. Thanks for that. _ Your fellow merchant.

This is the most diligence lacking disgrace of an operation, especially a gym, that Ive ever seen. No-one answers the phone during allegedly staffed hours, noone answers the door, you cant even sign up to throw money at the people. Its one thing if you dont care about losing revenue on the space your leasing in a fabulous market area, but why inconvenience the community when a different business owner could run a better excuse for a gym in that space, one who does not lack work ethic.

The last owners were really nice. Bex got My husband and I in on a Easter deal. At the time she had the lowest prices. The new owners are rude and think they are more important than their paying customers. When I had a problem with the owner I addressed her. She completely ignored me. My husband and I have been members for 3 coming on 4 years and have used Anytime Fitness all crossed the country. That use to mean something. When you where a paying customer for years. That use to mean something not today. Not to the new owners. I told the New owner " You know I have been into 300 Anytime Fitness and this your gym is the third time I have had a problem with a rude owner. She even locked us out of the gym. That is fine there are plenty more but could she could at least send an email saying I was locked out of the gym. No. Nothing. It's so obvious this gym could care less about their customers.

I travel to many anytime fitness in the area to see all the gyms in Florida. Came here tonight, loved the location and the machines that this place had to offer. Only thing that threw me off was this man literally was on the bench press for over 45 minutes going on and off and having a conversation with his buddy. Now I'm not one to disturb anyone's set.... But come on! Jack! Are you pumping iron or pumping conversations?! Had to go to another location to finish chest day #chestdaybestday

I’ve only been a member for a few days, but the staff and gym has been wonderful. The staff are on hand to ask if everything is ok, or if you have any questions. I’ve had really good luck so far, and I’m happy a member. I’d recommend.

I voiced a few concerns about inappropriate and offensive conduct (in regards to both race and religion) being performed by a member (who apparently works in county law enforcement), as it left me feeling quite unsafe to use the Downtown Clearwater Anytime Fitness. This resulted in my personal information being divulged to that member, further compromising my safety. Apparently one member’s ability to voice their prejudices is more important than the wellbeing of other members, as well as staff.

Specifically, I filed a complaint about a member in 2016/17 who was making loud, profane, and derogatory comments about various ethnic groups, nationalities, and religions while working out. He shouted his thoughts at the television while using the elliptical machines. This made for an uncomfortable and unsafe environment, so I reported it. After two emails and me being told he would be no longer allowed at the gym, the behavior did not change. However, I ended up moving to Tampa and changed gyms, so it was no longer my problem.

I moved back to Clearwater recently and this gentleman is still allowed to use the Downtown location, and his behavior has not changed. I filed two more complaints and was informed that the man would no longer be allowed in the gym. However, he was there the following week, and even confronted me in an attempt to “justify” his behavior and tell me he “would try to keep it down.” He was shown my email complaints by the owner (which the owner has admitted to), and as such knew my first name. He also knew my last name, which is how he addressed me in the gym. I’ve been told he “has the power to do that” and “knows everyone’s name” by way of his career. This man works in law enforcement and is employed by the Sherriff’s Office. This has been confirmed by both the gym (another breach of confidentiality) and the man himself. After I raised my complaint to the owner about my personal information being revealed to a member I don’t feel safe around, I was told that it would probably be best if I “use another Anytime Fitness.”

And that is exactly what I will be doing. I no longer feel safe working out at the Downtown Clearwater Anytime Fitness not only because of one man’s behavior, but also due to ownership’s lack of response to the issue. I’ve been told by staff that other members, as well as the staff themselves, also do not feel safe at the facility because of this man and the owner’s decision to not revoke his membership privileges. Privacy and safety, it seems, are simply less important than the disheartening biases held by one man, and more than likely, the owner himself.

I have nothing but good things to say about this gym and I absolutely love the owners. I have been going here for a few months now and this is my go to. People are friendly, not in your business and let you do your thing. This little gym has everything you need. Im also constantly seeing the owners and staff cleaning. Keep up the good work!

I cancelled on the spot today after getting disrespected by a patron & the owner. They were occupying the one decline bench but NOT using it, they were in conversation for at least 5 minutes. I respectfully asked if I could work in on the decline bench while they talked. The girl, whom was just sitting on the bench chatting away about wedding rings and other non-gym related content that she could have had off of the equipment, became very snarky and passive aggressive with me. She said "umm I'm using it right now and it'll be 5 more minutes"

But she was not using it, she was in conversation well past a rest period and other patrons would like to use the gear.
The person she was talking with was the owner(Mark)

He later said to me to justify her Cluster B behavior that "she was in a mood".
That is not my problem, if you want to talk for extended periods of time in a gym, do the courtesy of stepping away from the equipment that the rest of us pay to use as well.

The customer service is not very good at all at this location.

It's a place to work out if you just want to run in and out. Customer Service by new management is really terrible. Rude, unhelpful, mono-syllable, disdainful responses. Also, bait and switch on the key fob. When I signed up I was told the cost of the key fob would be reimbursed. Since I have ended my contract, now I am being told the key fobs are a purchase. Buyer beware.

This place Suck! The owner Mark does not say hello! The first thing he told me was that this gym is not for everyone, where did he live? Why did not I go to another gym? That guy treated myself very rude and was very racist with me ... he asked me to give my ID and he tells me he does not give free pass to everyone, he treats people very badly and he is rude to his public. Have been a member for several years, love that there are locations everywhere I travel, that it is open 24 hours a day, and even during peak times I always manage to get in a workout. Recently signed up with a personal trainer at my current location, had a wonderful experience and jump-started my fitness routine. I think it is a great company.

Owner is rude and apathetic. No customer service skills whatsoever. Homeless folks are constantly coming in and out to use the restroom and even sleep at the gym. Took my business elsewhere where courtesy, professionalism, and better equipment are abundant and appreciated.

The equipment is newer and well-maintained, plus the facilities are very clean. The staff is extremely friendly and they always providing fun new ways for members to stay active and achieve their fitness goals. They have some group classes (free for members), events and fitness challenges.

This gym is always clean and a great environment to work out in. Steve one of the trainers is awesome, very caring and gives workouts that are varied and interesting. I get bored easily working out and with him it is great. Also the owner Chelsea is very friendly and makes the place feel inviting, she knows most of us by name and you don't get that at most gyms.
