Two years ago I was a member. I had a Silver Sneakers membership and trained here about 3 months but was told my membership was canceled because there was a new owner who didn't want old people in his gym. I left but wondered how I was allowed in all the other Anytime Fitness gyms but this one in Ocala?

Small gym with less equipment, but also less people. If you can be flexible with the options and using the equipment, it will get the job done. Worth it to me because of that. They have one that's bigger with more equipment options and you can use that one also with the membership. Love that It's 24/7. It's kept clean and the manager and trainer are nice. Issues are the same ones at all gyms, certain people don't put the weights back or wipe down the machines. There is also a few of those I'm going to use 4 machines at once people. You can mention it to the management but not sure if they really address it. If you go at off times there is usually only 1 or 2 people in there.

Love this location, close to home and has everything I need. Space is a bit smaller compared to the location near Kohl’s. Janet the manager is super nice and accommodating. I’m glad I joined.

Update as of July 2023: Not happy with the new manager and her style or repoir with customers. I’m reading others have also complained. I originally joined when Janet was the manager and then Stephanie took over. They were both great. I’m reading others have also complained. Once my contract ends, I’ll be looking at other options.

Update October 2024: there is a new site manager Kayla that is turning this Steeplechase location around. I’m going to stick around a bit longer.

I've been coming here for about 6 years, and under this new management, within the past year, it has been a bit of an uneasy experience. The manager kayla is amazing.. however, with the amount that's being charged monthly for such a small gym, I can't understand why bringing one guest is not free. The upgrading fees with no tangible upgrades is a bit off-putting as well . As a business, I hope in the future you try to accommodate your customers for the amount of money and time that is dedicated to this establishment.

The Steeplechase Anytime Fitness is fantastic! Kayla who runs this location is nice and always willing to help her members and patrons who come in. She also is always cleaning so this location is always fresh and feels good. The free weights they have are great. Certain times can see waves of people come through but they don’t get crowded so your weights, machine or apparatus is usually available or a short wait. Overall I highly recommend. The other members are always nice or just listen to music on headphones and aren’t a bother.

I just recently joined Anytime Fitness and I am very happy with my decision. Kayla was so helpful in showing me around the gym & reviewing all the membership options. Jerry, the coach and personal trainer, was great demonstrating some of the pieces of equipment I’d be using and going over various muscle groups. Clean, quiet, well kept! It's an excellent environment for a good cardio work out; they also have free weights and all the equipment you'll need for your best workout. Kayla is a phenomenal GM keeping us active with Members of the Month & Member Spotlights, also I'm pleased to say they have a coach (Jerry) I highly recommend a consultation with him, he has great advice and really cares about your overall well being.

I would never, never recommend this gym. If for whatever reason, you had to move and decided to cancel your membership or even ask to buy it out. There business model is a trap, they fight tooth and nail against canceling their membership, no matter how you followed their instructions. The company is ruthless and the manager at location is rude and heartless. This is my horrible experience at this gym.

After moving to Ocala, I extended my membership and prepaid for a two year period, partly in an effort to help the business following difficulties after the COVID shutdowns. This was after two years of active membership at my previous Anytime Club in Wisconsin.

Unfortunately, I had some serious medical issues requiring multiple (4) major surgeries, radiation therapy, and Chemotherapy. I asked that my membership be put on hold. I am finally well enough to get back to the gym. I was very disappointed to find that the store manager was unable to reinstate my membership. I asked to speak to the owner, but management was unwilling to pass on my request, stating they speak for the owner. I will no longer do business with Anytime Fitness myself, but if you choose to, I would suggest you never pay ahead in case an injury or illness were to affect you.

The price is around 30 plus dollars bi-weekly? And that adds up to over $70 per average month because you multiply 4.3 times the weekly fee. Other places like planet fitness I understand are much more reasonable and offer much more.

They also still charged me for them severing my contract even after I called to freeze my account for three months.

The lady tried charging me a $40 dollar sign up fee, an $80 set up fee and $28 a month. Planet fitness charged me $1 to sign up and $25 a month. This place is a rip off.

Gym went down hill after new owner. No friendly atmosphere and member fees doubled with no improvements made. All prior employees and trainers were forced out so there are currently no staff or trainers. When the clocks on the walls broke they just took them down instead of fixing or replacing them.
There are much better and cheaper options (the zone) close by.

Dropped my review from five stars down to one star. I would give it zero stars if that was an option.
There’s rarely an employee ever at this location. My wife attempted several training lessons, only to find out that the trainer had been fired. No one ever told her otherwise she just happen to find out by going there directly.
Have fun trying to cancel your membership if you do. I went religiously every day seven days a week for over a year, never missed a day. I stopped going in April completely, But never actually canceled my membership. I sent several emails to customer service via the website, called the office multiple times, did all I could try to do just short of going there (I moved an hour and a half away) to cancel my membership. I finally put a stop payment on my credit card and since I have done that I have had four different people from their company called me telling me that I need to update my payment information. I don’t expect them to check in on my safety or anything, but it feels as though they don’t care if you go or not, they just want their money.

Beware of fake reviews from new ownership!!! I've never seen a gym owner stoop so low as to buy 5 star reviews. If the new owner is willing to go that low, imagine how he runs his gym(s). As you can tell from the legitimate reviews, this place isn't what it used to be. It's now a greedy and money hungry gym. If you're stuck with this place due to location, it will serve its purpose but, I would recommend elsewhere if you can. It is too expensive for what it offers. The gym is outdated/needs a refresh, and it needs to be cleaned (especially, the carpets).

P.S. if you read the recent fake reviews, you'll notice them mention coaches/trainers within the last 2-3+ weeks. Here's the kicker, there are no trainers anymore (as of this review) and there hasn't really been since new ownership took over (~3 months). They both left shortly after.

I just joined last week to discover today that a new owner has bought this property at the 8585 SW State Rd 200 location and is dropping the Silver Sneakers program. The overwhelmingly vast majority of people who come here during the day are seniors so their membership is going to drastically drop.
When asked what the membership fee for a 12 month program would be, I was told $56. That’s ridiculous. This is without doubt a profit based decision by the new owners but their core daytime members will be left without a choice and will leave this gym empty.

Love the welcoming smile from Díana the second I entered the facility. She was very knowledgeable and you can tell she doesn’t just work at a gym but lives the lifestyle. Over the years I have belonged to a number of different gyms. However, I discontinued using them because I did not feel welcome nor did I get the training I needed. And then I found Anytime Fitness at Steeplechase Plaza in Ocala, Florida.

Diana is the manager at Anytime Fitness. David is the assistant manager at Anytime Fitness as well as a personal trainer.

Diana and David are both professional and personable making them very approachable for questions or concerns. Diana and David have an open-door policy while they are in their office. One of the things that really impresses me is that they spend time on the gym floor checking around and assuring that the gym runs smoothly. They also answer questions I may have which makes this a great gym to work out in and it also makes me feel welcome at the gym.

David is also a wonderful personal trainer. His personal trainer workouts are specific on how to correctly use the gym equipment and weights. He set up a program specifically for my health and goals. I feel better leaving the gym knowing I am giving myself the gift of better health and well-being.

Mark, owner of this gym, is not only a great business man, but is someone who also shares by providing a drawing once a month for members. The winner receives a gift card for a local restaurant. Every time a member walks in the door they can enter for a chance to win. In June Mark also gave out a limited number of two free personal training sessions for some of the new members as well as some of the longer time members of the gym.

The gym has a very wide array of work out equipment and weights and the gym is kept clean. Every member in the gym is asked to wipe down the equipment that they have used. The gym has stationed 5-gallon buckets full of sanitizing wipes which are available to members. Great idea to keep us healthy and well.

The truth of the matter is that I was hesitant about going to Anytime Fitness or any other gym as I was feeling that it was going to be another disappointing experience again. Instead it has become something I look forward to doing because of the reception and help if needed.

They will charge you every hidden fee and it constantly smells like smoke in there because they are right next to a cigar shop. They also have horrible staff hours and most of the place has carpet which makes the smell even worse. Do yourself a favor and go to the anytime right down the street by the highway. Way more equipment, staff is better and it doesnt smell.

I got a week membership to this gym while visiting from North Carolina. I was not wanting to skip the gym while here so they offered a very affordable 3 day membership. At the SW 200 location the gym and equipment are good, I loved going there BUT the other gym members are loud, vulgar and disrespectful of others in the gym. I reported this to the management and was treated like it was a joke. If you have time to go only when the staff is there it's ok.
