What a complete disappointment! I am horrified by the way I was treated by Herschel when I decided not to renew my membership! Not only was he rude but he has threatened to send me to collections . I not only emailed that I would not be renewing my membership, but I was told to show up in person to sign a form to close the contract. I personally drove out of my way since I no longer live in the area to fulfill his request during the business hours he provided. Noone was there to assist me. So I left. I then emailed him AGAIN to explain that I had attempted to do what he requested. I then explained my credit card would not be available for any further charges. He then sends me a passive aggressive threatening email in return whining about how he had to take his kids to school and that it's a small business and that I should understand all that. He went on to try and demean me with further accusations.. In the end he basically stated that I had final dues and that since my account wasn't available for him to retrieve payment he was sending any outstanding payments to collection. Pretty pathetic . Get a life Hershel What a joke! This place and owner is TRASH! You have engaged.

Until February 2025, I had never been to a gym consistently. Anytime Fitness makes it easy and enjoyable. This isn't a drop the weights, grunt and moan crowd (at least at 5:30am), but friendly smiles, encouraging nods, and getting down to business. Duke is there...tried and true. He is encouraging and when I have a question, he helps me...even when he is there to work out, not working. Thankful for this place where the 20 somethings and the 60 somethings all workout in harmony. 5 stars for sure!

I have not seen a nicer Anytime extremely clean wonderful environment.
The owner is the definition of a good boss. He checks the locations and ensures a healthy training environment.
As for the people at the gym unfortunately there are a few that will get upset if you are lifting heavy and making what I (a lifter and gym enthusiasts of 10 years) would consider to be normal sounds of lifting.
That being said the rest of the people were fantastic and a joy to talk with between sets.
If you need a gym this is it!

Having never joined a gym I did not know what to expect and was very pleasantly surprised. anytime is clean, organized with a very friendly atmosphere. the personnel are encouraging and helpful. Having just recovered from hip surgery it has already helped to restore my lower body strength supplementing my morning walks which are becoming easier again.

Great place for weight lifting and other styles of fitness. Every machine you would ever need and lots of free weights and free weight equipment. Great parking and close to Publix. The facility is very clean and there is no pressure from anyone. Rather you're just starting out or seriously into body building, I would recommend this place. The staff are extremely friendly, responsive and accommodating to any questions or needs. The atmosphere is very comfortable and there is plenty of room to enjoy your workout.

Recently joined Anytime Fitness after a tour of the local facilities with Herschel (owner). Excellent facility with all the equipment that meets the needs of our family of four adults. We have been using the gym regularly for 2 months now and have not had a single poor experience with other members or equipment. The facility at the Vineyards is not overly large or small, but well laid out, convenient, and clean. Convenient for us to get in and knock out our workout, then hit the Publix next door (keep walking past the donuts) and you kill 2 bird with 1 stone. Absolutely competitive pricing and a great community environment. Really happy we joined and look forward to our gym time as often as we can get it!

I'm posting a follow-up to my review from 11/29. If someone knows how I can edit a prior review, please let me know, as I'd like to up my 2-star review to a 5-star review based on the PHENOMENAL response that Herschel provided to my original review!

I was frustrated yesterday when I posted my review over the cancellation process. I won't rehash why, but instead I'll focus on how Herschel went above and beyond in helping resolve my problem.

First, he immediately responded to my Google review via text offering his assistance and apologizing for any inconvenience I had incurred. He then offered me multiple options for cancelling my membership. Then, when I goofed and paid my remaining balance twice, he immediately took ownership of resolving the issue and getting a credit issued to me.

My path toward connecting with Herschel may have been a clunky one, but once he was on it - he was ON IT!

I would rate the facilities and staff higher if it weren’t for the challenges I’ve faced in cancelling my membership.

I’ve basically made donations to AF in the form of monthly membership dues for two years. I’ve visited maybe four times. That’s on me and my waistline reflects it.

Once I decided to cancel I called the toll free number and was directed to contact the gym directly. I did by phone, but found that I had to come into the gym in person - Monday - Friday, between 8 and 5, I assumed to return the key fob. I’ve come up on four occasions only to find the owner is the only one who can apparently cancel a membership.

Hershel, the owner, has only been available once, that being today. I arrived at 3:30 and he told me I had to come back tomorrow morning as he was leaving for the day. He’s an extremely nice person, but this process is something ripe for improvement.

If your not someone concerned over a cumbersome cancellation process this could be a great gym for you!

Herschel and his team of staff and trainers are great: very friendly and helpful. The facility and equipment are clean and well maintained. What a relief, right? In my experience this is a welcomed change from some other Tallahassee gyms! The music is pleasant and not overwhelming (which my wife and I appreciate), the TVs work and the bathrooms are clean. I have been working out at this Anytime Fitness for over 3 years. It was clear that this gym had much more to offer ever since Herschel Holloway took over. With some new equipment, a little rearranging and his new vision the opportunities are endless. Herschel has put his heart and soul into this gym and it shows. I took a 7 day trial at the Mahan Anytime Fitness, due to the hours on Apalachee only being open 4 days. I had an initial meeting with the owner, a Mr. Herschel Holloway. During this time he stated nothing to promote his location nor say anything to sway my decision to drive the extra distance to his location. He explained that the majority of the members were police, ex military, or active military which sounded like he wanted me to "check my attitude" if I were to have one. He wrote down my pass dates on a card which were 7 days with the club not open on one of them to guests. I had to clarify to ensure I would get the full 7 days. He didn't show me around the club or use that chance to promote the club in any way. There were multiple classes that happened that I knew nothing about which would have promoted the club as well.

During my 7 day trial, I was corrected for "piggy backing" in the entrance by Mr. Herschel when the alarm sounds no matter what when guests enter. He gave me no reason why it was a rule or why it may go against the member I followed in. Throughout the week I watched members not wipe down equipment, not clearing weights, or replacing equipment to where it initially was and Mr. Herschel would walk right on by not correcting other said rules of the gym.

There were multiple instances where Mr. Herschel left during business hours with no replacement or indication of when he would return not allowing possible new members to enter the gym.

I don't know if the owners are allowed to take a trash bag of supplies (paper towels) out of the club, but when hurricane Ian was approaching that happened and Publix is literally right next door.

After misreading the trial member international block in my contract, I attempted entry to this location one morning running errands and was denied. I received an email stating I was blocked indefinitely from the club with no reason other than deciding on the closer AF location to my residence after my 7-day trial. All things considered the club itself is nice although the terrible customer service by solely the owner Mr. Herschel Holloway deterred me from choosing this location.

I joined Anytime Fitness because I needed a gym to train at when I travel. The facility on Mahan Drive is top notch. All of the equipment is up to date and well maintained. The facility is clean and the flow of equipment makes sense. Recently I traveled to a different area within the state and was a little let down to find one of the facilities with out dated equipment and it was filthy. None of the plates matched and the equipment was worn out. Over all Anytime Fitness is a great place to workout.

The owner and all of the employees were super friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to accommodate me and made the whole process very easy. The location is kept spotless and it doesn’t get overcrowded. It’s a 20 minute drive from where I live but more than worth it. Easily the best gym I’ve been to in Tallahassee, 10/10.

That's cute. I transferred my membership from texas to this location when we moved here in January (nice try). My husband and I went many times... found out that not only did my monthly payments go up without notice.... took me 4 months to get this membership cancelled and had to cancel my debit card to stop it. I have ran into many other people who have had the same problems from this location. Just read some of the reviews not the people they have write reviews so it doesn't look so bad.
Talked to the corporate office of anytime fitness (I know they are owned separately but you still have to answer to someone to have the privilege to open up one) and they are fully aware of this location and the complaints.

Hides fees to seem like a low monthly rate and has you sign off during signup. They hit you upfront with a registration fee and an extra key fob fee regardless of whether you plan on attending during normal business hours. Then 2 times a year they hit you with a separate equipment and upkeep fee. That is all in addition to your normal monthly rate. Do not be tricked into thinking this is really a low cost option given the level of equipment and size of the gym.

Nice facility with good equipment. Their in house trainer is an exceptional professional and expert at his craft.

However, for whatever reason, the gym makes no effort to accommodate children. If you have to bring your child, there is nothing for them to do and nowhere for them to go. The only option is to keep them in the front lobby area and let them watch TV, which is something my wife and I prefer not to do.

Therefore, if you have to bring your child, be prepared to let them watch TV while you workout. I understand not wanting young kids to run free around the gym floor, but I think someone either at the gym or the corporate headquarters needs to be a little more flexible.

I have been a member for this gym for roughly a year now, even when I didn't go I still paid for my membership. Lately I've had more developments in my life that have prevented me from continuing.
From the beginning I had understood the commitment I signed up for, which is why I proudly paid 12 out of the 18 months. I fully understand commitment.

Now when it came to me needing to cancel because of medical reasons, more than one mind you but I only disclosed one because it was most important, I was met with a very hostile attitude.

I brought a note from my doctor about being unable to continue. The staff member at the time, a much older woman, said it was insufficient. Her demeanor was rather passive aggressive and skeptical, but she told me she would contact my doctor for a time frame to freeze my account. I had spoken to my doctor and my doctor had advocated to me face to face that I discontinue my membership, but it wasn't explicitly stated in the note. So I said that's fine, I'll go get the note myself. I did, and when I gave her the note from the very same office she wished to contact initially, it was still met with her skepticism. It is perfectly reasonable to be skeptical, but what isn't reasonable is for an employee to compare a customer's situation to other people's situations. Sure another girl with a similar situation like mine, a torn mcl and weak meniscus, has a scholarship pertaining to athletics so she needs to get better to keep said scholarship, is essentially more committed than I am. Awesome, I am proud for her, I won't deny how impressive that is, but I've attained my own set of scholarships and they don't depend on athletics so what does that matter to my situation?

I didn't raise my voice, I didn't cuss her out, but I did express that I wasn't there for a lecture or to be treated in an unprofessional manner. I wanted to give the note that the staff member wanted so we both may follow the rules like she expressed. When I expressed my concerns, I was met with the most insincere excuses for her behaviour. She was trying to be "diplomatic" while vehemently advocating to freeze my account. Not only am I insulted to my face about being not committed enough, but this staff member had the gall to lazily disguise her condescending attitude and words with "diplomacy".

What puts the cherry on top is her own admittance to her being more insulted out of us two, the employee and the customer, because I didn't pay her all her money, or finish my commitment, how cute. She professes that she sees "50 torn meniscus a day", and not once has a situation like mine happened. I understand a business is being run, but unprofessionalism is not how they should be run first and foremost.

From all of this all I can only express that I do not want to stay at a gym where an employee thinks it is okay to treat a customer the way she did to me. So why stay? I didn't, and I could easily tell that she was mad that I didn't want to stay and as per the rules I followed them and got out.

Cancelled my membership on the spot today . I was right in the middle of doing my workout and was told I was not allowed to perform a certain exercise because I was being too loud and disturbing the other patrons. This is not a library and this is not Planet Fitness. You had no right to tell me anything. I was not unnecessarily slamming weights or grunting, I was simply performing my workout. We joined Anytime fitness so that we could utilize a gym while visiting both our kids who live in different states. Our issue with this gym was with the rude, unwilling lady manager with regards telling us we would have to transfer to her gym as our home gym or we could not use they facility. The way she handled herself as a manager was very unprofessional. We have since cancelled our membership and gone elsewhere.

Owner jeanine Stephens is rude and a lier. Asked if the tanning bed worked and she looked at me like I was from another planet. Then she asked if I was a member of her gym. I told her I thought I was a member at all the gyms. (That's what I was led to believe when I signed up).Jeanine tells me that I can't use the tanning bed because I'm not a member at her gym and federal law says so. I looked up this federal law and all it says is you have to sign a waiver, not that I have to be a member at her location. She didn't want me to use her tanning bed plan and simple.

Awesome gym. Clean floors, friendly owners. Equipment it's pretty much always available, and I have never seen the place crowded, which is great. It is allowed to deadlift (which some gyms frown upon). Plenty of open area to do walking lunges, or yoga, our stretch, our jump around, or whatever else you choose to do. There are also a couple of heavy bags for boxing. Personal trainers and classes are also available.

I've had slow progressing Parkinsons Disease for 13 years.The owners of Anytime Fitness worked out an exercise plan that fits my time committment and made me feel comfortable from the beginning. Oct. of last year.They are always friendly, acknowledge I exist, encourage me and others with handicaps and are willing to help me.This is the first time In 35 years of attending a professional gym that I feel at ease, genuinely welcome and am motivated to workout. i thought I was broken. The owners and staff are helping me overcome the broken pieces and adapt to a new, more confident me!

The owner is a jerk and a joke. No customer service skills at all. All he cares about is money and not the satisfaction of the client. It's amazing people still go to this "gym." All of the equipment is outdated and you have to pay extra to attend group fitness classes. Such a rip off!! Nice place. But the owners are far too in love with their equipment. If a weight is dropped even slightly, they'll say something to you. And they don't go about it in a nice way either. I got dirty looks and treated as if I were some punk and not a member who pays 30+ dollars per month to use the facility. They have signs for all their rules everywhere. If you spill water on their "new carpet" you'll get kicked out. They don't care about members unless you're in your 60s or higher like they are. I would go to another gym for membership instead of this particular anytime fitness.

My wife’s and my experience with the Anytime Fitness located at 6615 Mahan Dr, Tallahassee, FL was extremely displeasing. My wife and I had been members of this Anytime Fitness for a little over a year before we got married. Following the wedding we had to take a break from the gym to get things together and get settled. We decided we wanted to get back in the gym and get healthy again but knew we may not be able to keep it for a full year since our schedules were keeping us out of town for so long. When we met with the owner of this facility we explained our circumstances and the fact we did not know if we could keep the membership a full year. He recommended that we do a month to month contract and assured that it could be cancelled at anytime. He stated that since we were already members we could keep our previous payment amounts on our month to month contract. A few months into getting back into the gym our schedules really picked up and we were no longer afforded the time to go to the gym. I proceeded with trying to cancel our membership, only to find out that when the owner filled out the forms for us and signed us up, he labeled us as a mandatory year contract, unbeknown to us at the time of signing. I repetitively called the facility trying to get things straightened out and cancel our membership. It took around 2 weeks to finally get in touch with the gentlemen. He remembered our prior conversations where we stated we wanted a month to month contract, acknowledging that he told us he would set us up with a contract that can be cancelled at anytime. He requested a letter stating our request for cancellation and assured me again that he would get everything taken care of, that we wouldn’t incur any further charges. Two months went by without any effort from the owner to cancel our contract. I repetitively called the club and billing company, ABC Financial, regarding our issue and both the billing company and I could not get in touch with the owner despite constant promises that he would be contacting us that day. As yet another bill came in for the gym that I had not been able to go to I was forced to file a complaint with my credit card company as recommended by the gym’s financial billing company ABC Financial. The owner has no business ethics and/or concern for his clients. Over my two month ordeal with the Anytime Fitness Club I only once got to talk to the owner despite being assured multiple times he would be calling me that evening. The owner knowingly signed my wife and I up for the year membership while stating it was a month to month basis due to greed and lack of business ethics. I highly recommend that anyone looking for a gym stay away from this facility as the owner is lacks morals and ethics, and will only try to fill his pockets with little concern for the clientele. I will never do business with this gentlemen again.
