Ballatore is a hidden gem! I used to go here but only quit because I moved away. The group strength training classes are what make it truly unique - structured, motivating, and perfect for progressing in your strength/fitness. Even though I’m a seasoned lifter, I always felt challenged and learned something new. It’s a perfect mix of working out alone but with the accountability of a trainer. I also appreciated that I always had a weight rack to work in. No working in or waiting on a rack! Highly recommend for anyone serious about strength training.

Ballatore Strength is the best investment I’ve made into my health and fitness. The culture and environment there is positive and encouraging, and the trainers really know what they’re doing. I feel equipped with the tools to continue lifting weights anywhere, should I for whatever reason have to stop going to Ballatore. Ron is the trainer who swims. It’s been almost 2 months since he started working with me. I can tell my swimming strokes are much stronger. He pays very detailed attention for posture and watches from different angles to make sure I’m doing right. He also customizes work outs and finds alternatetive if necessary due to my knee and back injuries.

This gym exceeded my expectations.
I came from a CrossFit background looking to get back to the basics and build my strength after some injuries. The programming, attention to detail, and coaching is top notch. I had no idea I was squatting wrong my whole life and within the first 10 minutes of my “tryout workout” Brandon adjusted my form and it made a world of a difference. Coach Derek is always an absolute ray of sunshine with the best playlists for lifting and conditioning. This gym really puts in the effort to know their members and help them reach their goals from bodybuilding to weight loss to overall athleticism. The interns are a huge help & the owner Ron always makes an effort to say hey to everyone. Regardless of background, experience, or goal this is the gym for you.

Ballatore Strength is the real deal!
As someone completely new to lifting, I was honestly a little intimidated walking into a strength gym but those nerves disappeared fast. The environment at Ballatore is incredibly welcoming, and Coach Derek is awesome!
He breaks everything down in a way that’s clear, simple, and easy to follow, no matter your experience level. You can tell he genuinely cares about your progress and makes sure you’re learning proper form from day one without being overly harsh or critical.
Whether you're a total beginner or looking to level up your strength training, this place is a gem. Can’t recommend it enough!

I love this place and it’s unique among all the gyms I’ve ever been to! They really work with you at your level with no judgement to personalize your workouts. I love going to this gym. The trainers are attentive and helpful for every session. I’m from Singapore and was on a five week break. Decided to sign up here and my oh my, IT WAS AMAZING!!
I fell in love with the gym and did not want to leave. They have very specially curated programs depending on your age group and strength. Moreover, the community in the gym is just super warm and supportive. Made some good friends along the way. As for the trainers, they’re all extremely supportive and have very good attention to detail. I’ve had sessions with Derek, Ron and Angeline and they’re all extremely knowledgable and care deeply about your fitness journey. You can talk to them and they take time to understand your needs and goals.
In a nutshell, this was a 10/10 experience for me. Learnt so much in my weeks here and I hope to come back again next winter !!

Balatore is an ideal environment for people who don’t know what they are doing when it comes to fitness.
The trainers here are attentive, encouraging, and patient. There are only like 15 spots available per hour, and you can often find yourself one of five people training. This means the crew will actively watch your form and ensure you do not injure yourself.
I’d give them 6 stars if I could. I will be back this year.
It’s not cheap, but you 100% get what you pay for in having open racks, attentive trainers, and a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere.

Of course, I did not know a place like Ballatore Strength existed, but I am over the moon that it does and I found it! Excellent work out routine. I go to the group classes here. The facility is great and process to track progression is on site. Staff are very helpful to keep you on track. Work out rotates between 4 strength training exercises. The schedules allow mostly afternoon work out times and one early morning 6 am time slot. That’s the one thing that I have found difficult to find a time around my work schedule. I work late shifts ending 830p or full day shifts that makes it difficult to schedule a work out consistently. That’s one star drop from 5.

I’ve been a member at Ballatore for 3 months now and have nothing but great things to say about this gym! The atmosphere is welcoming, and there’s a great sense of community among members like I’ve never seen before. Whether you’re just starting out (like myself) or an advanced gym-goer, there’s something for everyone here!
The trainers are highly knowledgeable and passionate about fitness. Brandon guided me through my personalized program and helped set milestones to meet my short and long term goals. I’ve received some great advice on improving my form and technique from Kai and Genell which has led to noticeable differences for me.

I highly recommend Ballatore Strength. I’m 53 and been feeling the effects of aches and pains as well as muscle loss these past few years. I’m at the end of my second month. I cried my first workout while doing squats because I really couldn’t do them without lots of props and help. Now I can do a full squat even while holding an 18 lbs kettle ball. Such a big accomplishment for me!
The trainers are super helpful and great at modifying. Lots of personal help, accountability and encouragement.

I really enjoy working out here! When I first started I signed up for the semi private personal training because I hadn't worked out in a looooong time. Ron had me start very small and I had to slowly work my way up again. He was extremely encouraging even with my small gains it really helped my confidence in working out in general. I just switched over to the larger classes and all the trainers are super supportive and seem to genuinely love strength training. The workout programs I've had were easy to follow but Ron or Kai or any trainer has been ready to asist me if i ever need help. I started working out to just feel more confident in my day to day. I've been going to Ballatore strength training for about 7 months now and had a great time then about 5 months ago I was diagnosed with recurring prostate cancer first it was meds for 30 days which left me sick but I kept going to gym to keep my strength up. Just with in the last 2 weeks I had to start taking a different cancer med and all these time the trainers at Ballatore have helped me even when I feel horrible these people have helped me try to maintain my strength so I plan to keep doing my Mon, Wed and Fri routine

Ultimately I needed a cheaper option since I’m a student and already go to dance classes but wow this gym was really special. In my free consultation Brandon figured out my base weight for 3 core moves and radically transformed the form of my squats so it actually didn’t hurt! I joined this gym hesitantly. I've never done strength training before and I was super intimidated, but a friend recommended Ballatore. I've been going there for 6 weeks now and it's been an AMAZING experience. Everyone is super nice, welcoming, and encouraging and it feels like a truly safe space. 10/10 if you're looking for a place to start your weight lifting journey!

I love working out at Ballatore. I have a tight schedule during the week so I needed a gym where I could walk in with a plan and maximize on time efficiency. At Ballatore, the coaches provide the programming and are available to help with questions, technique adjustments, and spotting. You get a lot of the benefits of personal training within a class setting. The coaches are highly trained and knowledgeable. The culture is relaxed and inviting. If you show up and follow your program you will see great results - I was so surprised by the consistent progress I saw in my first year as a member. I’ve also had great success with pain management just from the strengthening that comes with the foundational movements emphasized at the gym. This is a great place to get plugged into a supportive community while meeting all of your fitness and health goals!

I'm not one to typically leave reviews, but Ron, Josh, Kai and Genell deserve all the 5-star reviews they have received. As a college student who was out of shape and had not worked out before, I was always intimidated by gyms and felt that I did not fit in to the "workout" culture. However, the coaches at Ballatore not only gave me the knowledge and strength to succeed within the gym, but the confidence and mindset I can carry throughout the rest of my life. I cannot thank them for all they have done for me over the past year, and it is by far my hardest goodbye as I leave Gainesville. From beginners to experienced athletes, I highly recommend this gym to anyone in the Gainesville area. Well worth every penny.

I never realized the potential I had in my strength until I discovered this gym. Personally, I joined as a novice in the field of weightlifting and have never lifted in my life. After trying out multiple gyms, this was the only place that really helped me be more confident and understand the proper techniques in lifting weights. I've only started lifting for 9 months this year and have progressed immensely, reaching PRs I didn't know was possible. The staff here at Ballatore Strength really welcomed and helped me reach goals that I didn't even know that I could achieve. Great Gym! Looking for attentive coaches who will correct your form, this is your place. We tried other gyms for about a month before deciding to join Ballatore, this was the one that we felt we got individual attention while being in a group class. Unlike most urban gyms, Ballatore has a great group of staff who know what they're talking about and can truly help people. I've never been to a gym before, so it seemed a daunting task to even step inside of one. However, as soon as I stepped into Ballatore, all the gym trainers and people who come here have been nothing but friendly.
I did personal training for 2 months and then moved onto group sessions with the monthly membership once I got my basics down. Even with the group classes (which are fairly small) the trainers (usually ron and josh) give you thorough criticism or pointers for improvement and one's never in need of more attention.
If you're are beginner you can't ask for a better environment or a more professional gym and staff. Other guys here look like they've been at it for awhile, so I'm sure it's a great place for more advanced people as well.

I moved to Gainesville for the summer and chose Ballatore to focus on my strength training. Man... what an awesome atmosphere for weight lifting. I had the privilege of working with two different personal trainers (Noah and Josh), both of which were amazing instructors who taught me plenty about how to gain strength in a healthy way. They knew just the right amount to push me and never once worked me beyond my capabilities. Ron, the owner, is a great dude who clearly cares about his clients and wants the best for everyone who steps foot in the gym. Even the people in the group classes give each other constant support. I was a newbie to strength training when I first started working out at Ballatore Training. To be completely honest, I was a bit skeptical about the whole process. However, after a few weeks, I have been able to notice distinct physical changes in my body and my strength has increased enormously. I always have trouble working out in gyms and on my own. I'm always thinking of all the ways I could possible hurt myself if not paying attention to form, but have trouble paying attention and lifting, haha. I met Ron from Ballatore and started one on one personal training with him, and met the rest of his crew and I've never felt so taken care of. There was always a plan for me, there was always guidance and support, during workouts I would get keen observation to help find the healthy and natural stances for lifting so I'm no over straining anything else and maximizing my lifts. Awesome gym!! I started about 3 months ago and was a newbie to weight training. Ron is awesome and always explains what you are doing and why it needs to be done that way. The group classes are big enough to not feel self conscious but small enough to be personal and stay safe. The environment is great and fellow gym members are there to encourage you to push that last little bit. I moved to Gainesville about 3 months ago looking for a place I could learn how to use weights and strength training. I'm definitely a beginner at strength training and I am so impressed with the coaching so far. Ron really makes sure that your technique is good before increasing weight. If you're interested in strength training, this gym is the best! I have been powerlifting consistently for 5 years now and just a few months ago I made it to the 1,000lb club (deadlift + squat + benchpress = 1,000lb). I have never had formal training but I thought I had great form on my lifts. Within 1 week of attending Ballatore, Ron has already corrected some mistakes in my squat and deadlift forms. I am looking forward to hitting new maxes on all my lifts in the next couple of months at Ballatore!

I am a big fan of this gym and the great trainers that work there. I have been going for years (really consistently for the past year) and have really come to appreciate the passion and skill that Ron, Josh, and Kelly bring to the gym. There is no hype, no crossfit nonsense, and no protein-shaker-bottle bros slamming weights on the ground. The trainers aren't just teaching something they just watched on Youtube, they are applying theory, physics, physiology based on extensive training and education. They apply theory and philosophy to a field that is dominated by misinformation and oneupmanship and the results are proof that they know what they are doing. The programs are well thought out and effective. Classes and personal training are affordable, flexible, and personalized to any skill level. If you want to train with some of the best instructors in town in a safe, non-judgmental environment, this is the place to go. On top of all that, you will meet a bunch of hilarious characters who make the hour-long (max) workouts a lot of fun. Your health is worth the cost. Ballatore Training uses clear and proven methods to get people stronger and feeling good. I am a tall guy and have had severe back pain, and two knee surgeries, and I have had pain from weight lifting programs at many times in my life. The instruction at BT has helped me become the strongest and heathiest I have ever been. As a previous NCAA Div 1 athlete at UF I have had elite trainers who worked with some of the best athletes in the world, and its clear that the trainers' focus on consistency and form at BT is a great formula for meeting strength/physical goals. Ballatore training has an atmosphere where a person squatting 315+ pounds is working next to someone squatting 45lbs, and both are getting stronger and pushing themselves. If you are looking for a place to get you functionally strong and moving right, BT is it.

Before Ballatore Training, I was too scared to lift heavy weights because I did not know the right technique. The trainers at Ballatore - Ron, Kelly, Josh - really helped me gain confidence and progress in a way I never thought I would. This gym is awesome. As others mentioned it is more like joining a community than a gym. Everyone is supportive and there is no fear of injury as they coach you through everything. I have become more motivated about going to the gym and enjoy my workouts much more compared to the standard gym I attended before. I have been working out with Ron Ballatore as a personal trainer one hour per week for exactly one year since my previous fitness center closed. In that time, I have seen significant improvement in strength and flexibility that I didn’t’ think was possible at age 59. Ron is an outstanding trainer who understands that different clients have different needs, so he tailors the exercise regime for each person specifically, tracks your progress toward goals over time, and takes a balanced approach to training the entire body. We usually do a basic set of exercises for the main muscle groups, such as back squat, deadlift, bench press, overhead press, pullups, and rows, then do other things each time for variety to keep it interesting. The clean, simple gym, located on south Main street in Gainesville, is equipped with numerous free weights, barbells, kettlebells, overhead bars, mats, elastic bands, glute-ham developer, rowing machines and has an outdoor space for crossfit training. Ron and his two co-trainers, Kelly and Josh, offer physical training to individuals, small groups, and regularly scheduled classes, and they also organize offsite sessions for swimming or stadium steps on weekends as a bonus to their members. Ron is a stickler for proper form in all exercises as the basis of effective and safe training, and he is obsessive about gaining mobility in the shoulders as a foundation for upper body strength and posture. He always clearly explains and demonstrates each exercise to the client, watches closely and provides continuous commentary on your performance. As a former champion UF swimmer and supremely well trained athlete himself, Ron is a model of fitness and health to his clients. Finally, Ron is a very genial fellow who makes it a pleasure to work out. I like having the individual attention and accountability of a personal trainer focused just on me. If you have never worked with a personal trainer, try it and see how Ron can help take you to the next level of fitness!

More than they, they help make the workout community that regularly attends the gym feel more like a family than just a group that lifts weights at the same time. One of the most underrated aspects is how the trainers use the same programming as the other gym attendees; and they only offer unlimited training, which encourages you to get the most out of the time in the gym without feeling the need to budget a certain number of sessions each month. I have been training in the gym since last September, attending both group classes with Ron, Kelly and Josh, and personal training with Ron. The classes have a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Ron is always updating different training exercises so that we can learn more in each program. The training is aimed mainly at weight training, at the end of each program there will be a test to measure our new maximum value. I have gained great progress since last year.
The gym is also providing more time periods to fit everyone's schedule. The membership price matches the times we can train here every week, and indeed it is pretty cheap even compared to my poor teaching assistant salary.

They prioritize correct form before they let you start lifting any heavy weights, so I'm never worried about hurting myself or doing more advanced exercises without proper instruction. They're very patient and encouraging and I'm looking forward to training with them for a while.

Ballatore Training is hands-down the top training center in Gainesville.The training programs are challenging and meant to push you to improve, but also accessible to people of all experience levels. The group classes are also small enough to allow plenty of one-on-one instruction - giving it a true personal training feel. This individualized attention has been key for me because I joined the gym with flexibility issues that impacted my technique. Ron, Kelly, and Josh have all worked closely with me over the last 8 months - constantly checking in on my form and making sure I wasn't compromising my back or shoulders while lifting. As a result, I have seen consistent gains in my flexibility and strength - even reaching my PR in several lifts (I have been lifting for over 25 years). This is a great gym with even better people running it - I highly recommend checking it out!

I have been training with Ron, Josh, and Kelly for over 3 years now. Since I began consistently attending small group classes at Ballatore Training, I have seen significant improvements in strength and body composition in alignment with my goals. The emphasis at Ballatore's is to increase strength through proven methods while constantly striving to perfect form. I always feel like I am learning something new and trust the trainers completely. While more expensive than a standard gym membership, the value is unbeatable. I highly recommend reaching out to at least come check out the gym.

I was a collegiate swimmer at the University of Florida, Go Gators! After I was done swimming in 2012, it was really hard for me to get motivated to workout. For the past 6 years, I have been very inconsistent with exercising. After my brother, Ron Ballatore opened up Ballatore Training in January of 2018, I started working out consistently with the group training classes. I average 6 days a week. I can tell you that I am stronger than I have ever been, I feel great, and I am having fun! This is a testament to the atmosphere Ron, Josh and Kelly have created at Ballatore Training. The hardest part is starting. Whether you do the group classes or personal training, you will not want to stop. It really is a great group of people. They also offer swimming and or stadium workouts on Sunday.
