My daughter has been attending the Bardmoor YMCA since she was 2 years old -- she will be 5 in April and she is thriving! Mrs. Anja, her current VPK teacher, is absolutely wonderful and has ensured that through structured routine, attention, and love my daughter will be prepared for Kindergarten. Ms. Illeana, Ms. Sandi, Ms. Kierstin, and the rest of the staff have also been very caring and involved in her development. The actual facility is always clean, smells clean, and leaves me with no doubts when it comes to my child's safety each day. I highly recommend this preschool for any parents looking for a safe and well structed environment for their child/children.

My experience with the YMCA program at Starkey Elementary School

If you’re considering enrolling your child in the YMCA before and after school program at Starkey Elementary, I recommend that you think twice.
The supervisor, Jill Kelly, has been extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. My son was removed from the program simply because he didn’t want to sit in a chair for the three hours he has to wait for me to pick him up.

She does not show the patience or the skills needed to handle these kinds of situations with children. In addition, her way of communicating is rude and inappropriate — instead of speaking professionally, she raises her voice and argues in public, even in the parking lot.

For all these reasons, I do not recommend this program at all. Children deserve a respectful, understanding, and safe environment, and unfortunately, that was not our experience.

Very nice, new facility. The equipment is new and excellent quality. Facilities are clean and we'll organized. I was a YMCA member visiting from out of town and the staff was friendly and helpful. It's back in a corporate park, so you do need to watch for the signs. Great place to work out. I saw but did not use dance rooms, cycle studios and basketball court.

The most incredible kid zone. They genuinely LOVE children and love on your kiddos like their own. I feel so comfortable and confident dropping my babies off. I will also say the front desk is always incredibly nice too.

Our family absolutely loves coming to Bardmoor. The facility is exceptionally nice but it is the staff that make it a place you want to return to.

Mary has went above and beyond to help answer some programming questions that helped our grand play soccer for the first time ever. We appreciate her!

Both the soccer coaches and basketball coaches are so gifted when it comes to working with the little ones. They make it fun to learn new things.

I saw Alex at the grocery store and he noticed our family was missing when we were doing a house project. He went out of his way to say hello and check on us. That was so kind.

And..... The Kid Zone staff are so amazing our grands ask to go. It's nice to feel comfortable stepping away for "me" time working on health goals.

Ms. Donna even gave our youngest grand some extra attention when we ran into her while she was on a field trip. We think she is the best!

Thank you Bardmoor for providing such a positive environment. The staff, programming and services are top notch.

Nice and newer facility. Entrance off of Bryan Dairy road is tricky. Follow the signs to go back behind the other buildings. The printout that they gave me did not match the times that were online so I would suggest calling if you want to particular class.

Amazing facility in the heart of Largo, close to Ulmerton Road. Excellent classes, gym and workout area. Very nice staff - Alex is super friendly and welcoming. This location charges $30 for a weeklong pass for visitors, which is a nice bonus when guests come to town.

Favorite bodypump instructors are John, Davida, Reggie, Lee and Mindy. Pickleball is played almost daily in the gym. Bathrooms are very clean and well stocked.

It’s only been a week but I can’t say enough good things about this place! The place it clean, the staff is friendly and the kids area blows me away every day. They’re all so friendly, kind and welcoming to my daughter. I love that she brings home crafts and always wants to come back. I wish I found this Y sooner!

The people we've interacted with here have been great, no doubt there. Good mix of classes as well, and good maintenance/cleanliness.

The equipment on lease currently is new, though the mix of machines compared to last year seems off. Lots of unused bikes and overused ellipticals.

It's also often quite busy, so they are obviously able to bring people in, but it also means you can't always do the workout you planned.

My husband used to be a personal trainer in a gym, so we know what a quality gym experience is and we have been to many around the country. This YMCA location is our family's favorite gym for sure. The staff are informative and friendly, there is adequate equipment for a variety of work outs, and the classes offered are great. The kids care is also above and beyond with making our kids comfortable and ensuring they have a good time while we work out. Can't say enough good things about this gym.

Free access to group exercise classes (sign up and limited sizes may apply), cardio, cycling studio. Full-size gymnasium equipped for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, etc. Family friendly with free childcare while you work out (child must be on membership), parents night and morning out programs, family events and onsite Preschool. They also offer health programs such as diabetes prevention, silver sneakers (older adults), livestrong (cancer survivors), and more. They offer financial assistance for membership costs for those who qualify and apply. They have male, female locker rooms and 4 single occupancy private locker rooms. The facility and the staff are simply wonderful. You can get as much or as little advice and assistance as you like. The gym/machines are clean and well maintained. Seniors are welcomed, and there are a lot of us, along with a good number of the youngers. Try it; stay alive!

I love the preschool academy! The best teacher hands down has to be Mrs. Anjeza! She has helped my daughter’s growth and education tremendously and I can’t thank her enough! Mrs. Anjeza works hands on and one on one with her students. Her classroom is always clean and spotless, she understands the needs of each student, and she always updates the parents on what she feels the child should work more on at home. If I could have Mrs. Anjeza teach my daughter until college, I would! Thank you Mrs. Anjeza for all you do!

I got a week membership here while on vacation in the area in winter 2023. There seemed to be a lot for retirees, various classes for older adults and activities to connect with. Definitely an older crowd. It was cool to see so many folks engage in an active living lifestyle. There was a woman who said she was in her later seventies sharing the shoulder press machine which was impressive. Also interesting, there were all sorts of people ages 65+ all decked out with tans, fashionable gym attire, full make-up, so maybe this is the place to be to meet that partner later in life, haha? Reminded me of a college gym in that catwalk sorta way. Some decent free weights, benches, squat rack. Lots of cardio. Tons of parking. Staff were alright. They seem kinda bored or distracted when I talked to them to ask questions 🤷‍♂️.

Horrible experience here. Be careful when giving them your card they will keep pulling out money even when you only ask for one month to try it out. Customer service is worse. Between being talked over to being laughed at. Beth Maday, the person in charge of the facilities, should not be in charge of a YMCA if she can not keep customers happy and be reasonable. Email response is at zero. YMCA is supposed to be about helping the community. This YMCA is about nothing but money. I hope this post will be enough to make other people in my community aware..... Nice response by the way...love how there is no name to contact. It would be great for the company to give me the balance from the proceedings months back that was not approved by me.

Great gym! They have most of what you need for a general workout and the fact that I’m able to choose a healthy smoothie option directly after my workout is a big bonus. The kid zone is probably the best part. They watch my kid while I workout and if anything is wrong, they come and let you know. They’re super friendly and attentive. My only drawback to YMCA Bardmoor is the lack of functional fitness space and equipment and that there is no pool because I enjoy swimming a couple of times a week. Other than that, I highly recommend this YMCA for any family looking for a place to be active together!

A management that is arrogant, mean and dismissive of patrons with no regard for customer satisfaction. Completely incapable of handling children over the age of 7 or so due to the lack of age appropriate activity in their child care facility. Posted misleading advertising of a 'mom's morning out' without informing us that they would not change diapers. Called 10 minutes after drop off and told my wife that they would leave our daughter in her filth all morning if we couldn't come change her diaper. We had to leave a family member's hospital room, and when she arrived the entire staff was waiting to ambush and verbally berate my wife who had just arrived from her father's hospital bedside. Continued to be mean, arrogant, and dismissive of her concerns.

This gym recently moved from the Bardmoor Outpatient Center into its own facility.

The gym area is small but functional. Don't expect to be doing tire flips, clean and jerks (with the walk off weight drop) and most Crossfit style exercises up in here (you can do all the burpees you want though).

The full length basketball court with six basketball goals is great to shoot around, do some HIIT training and play some pickup ball when it's not occupied by the various kids' sports programs they have there.

There's a good variety of classes morning, lunch and night time. Best to get there early if you want a good spot in the back of the class if you're embarrassed about your Zumba moves though.

Haven't had any issues with the staff. They all seem friendly overall. I've mainly dealt with Karen and Larry and they've been nothing but awesome.

If you're family oriented, this would definitely work well as there is child care while you work out (like pretty much all the YMCAs), a Preschool Academy for the younger ones and youth athletic programs that are starting to come into their own.

If you're a gym buff that needs every piece of gym equipment under the sun with Top 40 Hits blaring over the gym radio this may not be the right match for you.

This is a nice gym, but very small. So small, it is one big room. It is inside Bardmoor Center. Check it out, just do not expect too much! No swimming pools, lockerrooms, etc.
