There was a sign on the entrance door yesterday (7/14/2018) stating that this gym is permanently closed. This happened without warning. Every member lost their money (especially those who paid for the entire year, like myself).

Closed permanently without warning july 14 2018. Paid for a full year and got 6 months out of it. Doubt there will be a refund...

This place is great. Our family vacation sound here for a week every summer and I am always looking for a gym. I was able to work out at Beach Street Gym for an entire week for only $18!

It is a huge gym with every piece of equipment you could ever imagine. I would say it mostly caters to the bodybuilder type, however, everyone there is super friendly. I highly recommend this gym!!

This is a great gym. For a monthly fee of $10, there are plenty of free weights, weight machines, and cardio machines to do a complete workout of any muscle group. The staff is very friendly and so are the members. Highly recommend!

Nice spot. Not as modern aesthetically as other gyms but the machines are in great condition and the employees there are great. The owner is hilarious...even the people who work out there are very nice and supportive.

Owner does not care for his customers. I had my car window smashed in and contents stolen on this gym's parking lot. There were no security cameras to capture the incident. I tried to talk to the owner about the incident to see if I could use the one-time "freeze" to recover some of the time I had already paid for, since I was gone for a few months. I told him that cost of repairs, rental and recovery of the items stolen was over $1,000. His response was pretty much "sucks to be you, I already have your money." This was my second year paying for this gym. I will not be returning for a third.

IMO the best all around gym in town. Good atmosphere for both novice and experienced lifters.

Beach Street Gym has two robust weight rooms, a large cardio room, tanning beds, weightlifting trainers and daily fitness classes.

This economical gym has loads of machines, and free weights. All the local muscle necks go here because they leave you alone and let you get a work out in whatever manner you like as long as it is safe. Not your fancy west coast gym, this gym is for getting a good workout, not for showing off or flirting. If thats your agenda you better be subtle or they will call you out. Wear anything no need to dress up to impress. Bring a towel or flip fifty cents to Roger and he will rent you a towel. Trainers are all over the place training people if you need one speak up they are cool.

Im giving a one star because they dont care about renewing memberships. I spent $100 for a year membership and didnt "freeze" it when i had to leave town since the gym was the least of my concerns. I understand fully that it was my fault. Good customer service and customer retention would allow me to get at least a couple of those months back and as a result I would have purchased another membership. I lost $100 but they lost a long term customer. Congratulations

Very affordable rates and lots of equipment, including a boxing room, which is hard to find at a regular gym or fitness center. Large group exercise room. Men's locker/shower room is separate from restroom, which is a little inconvenient. Lots of cardio equipment and TV screens. Always easy to find a machine to work on, but make sure you bring your own towel to wipe down after yourself.

Started at Beach Street. Worked my way through almost every commercial gym and even through the specialized meat head gyms, and ended up back at Beach Street. Best gym in the city. Favorite gym of all time. There's people who read E-books and do light cardio in one room, and dedicated powerlifters slamming 500 lb. deadlifts in the next. This is a place for progression. Get in and do work.

I travel the nation and this gym is the best in the area. Period. @ohhayimafireball

The owner is as described earlier. Acts as if people owe him something. It's cute, just a man trying to keep ahold of his younger years.

I wasn't there for him, I was there for his gym

The gym as a whole has everything you need. Daily rate is $6 weekly 18 monthly 10 and yearly 99.

It's clean, hence the towels. Bring a full sized towel to put ontop of the clean equipment to keep it clean (lol) everyone has a towel. You can rent one for .50c if you choose to use theirs

I saw some very athletic builds, I love seeing people that are passionate about fitness.

I drove 50 minutes to train, then another 50 minutes back home. "No ragets" not even one letter.

Been going here for 8 years off and on. Have visited other gyms in the area and this one is better for myself (30 year male, bodybuilding/powerlifting interest). The equipment is great, gets the job done plus lots of set weight machines. Classes, tanning beds, boxing equipment, lockers and showers. Yes the owner Steve does get upset when you disrespect his gym, so act accordingly. Also, this is not a planet fitness, so don't be alarmed.

21-year-old male, serious about lifting, visiting Daytona Beach for Spring Break. I drive up and down the East Coast visiting gyms in various cities so I have a lot of comparison material.

First of all, while on vacation you try to find a gym that is simply adequate but Beach Street Gym was an absolute pleasure to visit for two early morning sessions.

$6.50 for a day-pass included full-sized towel, very fair rate.

Excellent atmosphere, plenty of buzz going on between customers, but as an "outsider" I felt entirely comfortable getting my work done in whatever way I felt appropriate. All patrons seemed to really respect the facility and eachother.

Machinery is unlike any I've ever seen, but everything worked and felt excellent. Free weights were of an older variety which is too my liking. Nothing like the sound of iron weight.

Cardio equipment could be updated, but still functioned fine.

The facility requires you to cover any equipment with a full-sized bath towel. This is a pretty silly rule that treats adults like children. Hire someone to clean the machines if it is that much of a problem. It appeared memberships were still written on index cards, which I could not believe.

Overall, this is not one of those newfangled facilities with shimmering new pieces of machinery and cheesy catch-phrases. If you're looking for a place to GET WORK DONE, Beach Street Gym is one of the best.

Had to write a review about this place. Basically if you're like I was around 6 months ago and wanted to know whether or not this is the place for you to workout here's my advice:

This gym is a GREAT environment for serious lifters. If you're one of those people that prefers a fancy gym where 90% of the people do light-weight workouts once or twice a week then you might want to go to a YMCA instead. This gym definitely has the atmosphere that allows you to get yourself pumped to put in a killer workout. Treadmills are in the back - where they belong. They have 4 regular benches and some inclined/decline benches plus their own separate benches for when you work with dumbbells. Also they have a ton of machines, so you have the option to use free weights, machines, or both.

Certainly isn't a tourist place, this gym is made for residents around the area. If you're looking to work your body out for this new year, this really is the place to go. Instead of those anti-workout environments like the YMCA, Planet Fitness, etc.

Terrible gym. I visited this gym when i was down in Tampa for a weekend and immediately started having problems with the gym. The gym makes no accommodations for visitors whatsoever. They take no debit or credit cards. You have to rent a towel because if you are a visitor you wouldn't know to bring one and there was no one working the floor? For a day pass, I ended up paying almost what is was for a monthly membership. The place is so cheap because there were know workers and i guess the owner had his 14 year old son working the front desk. There were meat heads every where it was a awful experience all around will not be returning there. Management could be a lot better.

Since I started at this gym 6 months ago every experience has been positive ..The price was great of course I paid for the year, and the classes I take are only $1...The gym is clean, and the patron's are always wiping the equipment down after every use ...The people I have met are helpful and upbeat ..The classes are wonderful I take Zumba , kickboxing aerobics, and dumbbell sculpting ...f you are looking for a gym I would highly recommend this one ..!

To the guy complaining about the staff, equipment, showers, and membership tracking, GET A LIFE! I've been a member for several years and the owner, Steve, is always friendly. He also is willing to help and even train anyone who needs it for free. If someone needs assistance using a piece of equipment all they have to do is ask and a staff member or even a member is always willing to help.

As far as showers go, I have never had to wait to use a shower. They are cleaned frequently and I find them to be clean.

Equipment- Steve keeps equipment in excellent shape. He also replaces equipment when it's needed and repairs are done quickly. I have went to a lot of gyms in the past 25 years and Beach Street has the best equipment by far.

The way they track members is "old school" and I personally like it. When you come in, if you are a member, they call you by name. They go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. If you are there to workout why the hell should you care about how they are tracking your membership. Most other gyms I have went to constantly bombard you with unwanted email.

I agree the membership is "dirt cheap" and thats why there are so many members. I used to be a member of Golds and I had the privilage of paying $39 per month. At Beach Street Gym I pay $100 per YEAR and I love it! They even have a plan for tourist who want to work out. As far as I know they are the only gym around that does that.

Even though it is "packed" as you say I have never had to wait to get on a machine of use any of the free weights. The true "gym rats" like myself go there because we want to workout and not socialize. I imagine you are the person who takes up space on the equipment while you chat on your cell or text.

I guess all I can say is I like the price, I like the staff, I like the equipment, and I like the ammenities offered and I'm glad you are not a member. I would recommend the Beach Street Gym to anyone.
