I've been climbing here for about eight years or so, and I can say with confidence that the BRG is my favorite gym on the planet. The people are friendly, they have a lot of places to hang out, and there's always something new to climb. They specialize in bouldering, with ten walls specifically for that. They also have a small auto belay section, and I think that's a good place to get acclimated to taller climbs. It's also a little safer for kids, since they don't always remember to roll out of falls properly. All in all, the BRG is *the* bouldering gym in Jacksonville, at least to me.

4-2025: UPDATE:
The family is still climbing at the Beaches Rock Gym and still loving it. It has changed a ton since our first review. There are now auto belay walls, a cave wall, and a tilt wall. They also have a lounge upstairs so you can watch or just hang out with like minded folks. Be sure to stop in an check for an update on special events or schedules. It's great exercise for kids who have a ton of energy to burn off. Thank you BRG for continuing to offer such a great space for climbing!

2019: We are lucky to live 5 blocks away from this gym. My 14 year old loves going to burn off steam. I am happy she is getting outside and she is happy that it's fun! Great prices and very friendly staff. We have always had great experiences here!

Great birthday party option! Hosted my son’s 7th birthday here and it was awesome! The staff were amazing. The loft party area was perfect with tables, a couch, a fridge:freezer, and great view to watch the climbers. The kids loved it! The size of the gym was ideal for keeping track of the kids. One of the easiest and stress free parties I’ve planned. Highly recommend!!!!!

We love BRG. Climbing is a way for our fam to connect and my kids enjoy the challenge and I like the mental & physical workout it gives them. Mary, the owner, is kind & patient with the kids. My boys have attended camps there and they always leave begging me to sign them up again. The staff is always eager to jump in and lend a hand to help harness my kids, provide pointers and tips and create a fun & safe environment for us. Highly recommend for beginners and advanced climbers as it’s welcoming for all skill levels.

I stopped at this gym on my way through Jacksonville. While the square footage may be small, they pack a lot of quality into the space! Setting was very fun with excellent use of wall features and angles. The holds were very fresh and well taken care of, a lot of top of the line brands were present. The space was clean, welcoming, and most importantly FUN. I will say it is hot and humid, but that's expected for FL gyms. I look forward to returning next time I'm in town.

We brought my 7 year old granddaughter at about 11am . They kept drilling the stones back into place the entire time we were there. It was so loud that it was disturbing and my granddaughter was so distracted by the drill noise we finally left.

I came here while on a short vacation visiting my grandparents and during one of the days with unfortunate cold and rainy weather, I decided to come here. It was great! Very affordable and they made great use of the small space with lots of good and different walls! They have a bit of slab, very overhung walls and a few corners! they even have a kilterboard which is very impressive considering the gym size. The setting was also very well done and entertaining but also a good difficulty! They also have a few auto-belays and a rest area on the second floor! I am so happy to have found this place and wish I could have stayed longer. Now I know that I have a nice place to come to when I return to Jacksonville. I am eager to return, 5 stars!

Had an amazing time climbing here with my family! I’ve been to many gyms up and down the east coast and, though this one is on the smaller side, it was packed with very very fun climbs. The route setting was top notch! Staff were super friendly and welcoming. Gym was really clean and had a nice open atmosphere. There was a section for autobelay as well which also had very fun routes. Great place to check out whether you’ve been climbing for a long time or just trying it for your first time.

Great gym! Everyone wears their mask and there's hours of climbing up to V8. Feels like the routes are more intense on my forearms and wrists, where my home gym works my legs more.
Also maybe bring pads or tape; the walls are very abrasive.

It's a small gym but I didn't find this to be an issue. The challenges are definitely for people who have some experience in climbing but even with this being my first bouldering experience they were fun and interesting. Please do not let the size of the gym fool you. At first I was a little worried about the size coming from climbing at multiple Mega gyms. You could easily use the phrase quality over quantity for Beaches Rock Gym. The effort that the staff put into their gym and the creativity into their routes is one of a kind. All the staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgable. In addition, the gym recently added a kilter board which makes endless possibilities now. I encourage any climber novice or seasoned that this is a great place to climb.

My Daughter climbs at the rock gym as a regular member. I just want to thank the entire staff at the Beaches Rock Gym for the event they put on this past weekend. I know that the staff put in some long hours and sacrifice to put on this event. The event appeared to be a success and attracted competitors from all across the southeast. The Gym looked great. Very cool place to hang out and climb at. I always enjoyed this place but recently they added a kilter board and a smaller top rope section so now it is even better and there's even more routes to do. The kilter board has literally endless routes to climb and there's always new route to try.

Great little gym that packs a surprising amount of climbing wall into a small space. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I did miss having a small free weights area for oppositional exercises, and many of the routes had significantly easier beta for someone over 6 ft. However the movement was almost always fun.

I can't say enough nice things about this facility and the people that work there. I broke my toe and was unable to climb for a month, and they were kind enough to refund me for the month. They even coached me when I was stumped on some of the paths and gave me some exercises to help build strength. Even though I only climbed for a few months, they remembered me by name and were so polite every time I walked through the door.

This place is an amazing time! What a great place to have fun and get an good workout in . This is my second time going and I'm going to be coming once a week and try and bring my nephew as well. Update: I purchased a membership here and have been climbing at beaches rock gym for 4-5 months now. Everyone who works there are always helpful and talkative. I've met a bunch of other climbers who I've spent the day climbing and talking with including the staff. I don't believe I've had one bad experience here. Would highly recommend!

Have been eagerly waiting for a solid rock gym at the beaches for Years! Beaches Rock Gym is the answer. Routes are well placed (they change them up freq too - every 5-6 months). Staff, hands down is the best, they genuinely care! and also they have themes, certain days are kids days, Tuesdays are discounted, headlamp climbing, etc. Lastly, the community is superb!

We just took our 3 year old here for her first rock climbing experience. She saw women climbing and got encouraged. The service was great and the gym was very clean.
