I always practice golf at the Biltmore, I’m also their member for the gym and the pool and I visit here almost daily.
I always get a large bucket and spend a couple of hours of practicing.
This morning I needed to warm up for 10 minutes before teeing off and I used 4-5 balls of my own at the chipping area to warm up.
One of the staff followed me and asked me to either buy a full bucket or leave. I noticed there are other people who are practicing with A LOT more balls of their own. But I was the only one receiving a warning.
When I explained I don’t have time today for a full practice and I need to warm up just with a few balls, they insisted they can’t allow me to continue and I need to leave.

Is this how Biltmore staff should be treating their members?

Worst service for what could be a beautiful course at a historic location. My review and experience is specific to the golf staff and their inability to manage the facility. As a longtime Gables resident, the lack of customer service is apalling at what had been expected to be a luxury resort. And after recently experiencing the Doral where the resort staff really sets it apart, this place pales in comparison. Shout out to Kenney Golf Pro and the golf staff who made this such a memorable visit and a complete waste if our time.

We weren't the only upset customer there and I don't usually write negative reviews but he is an inspiration as I write this and wait for his unresponsive staff to follow only his direction. Good thing he has a job here because I cannot fathom him working anywhere else.

Worst golf staff, and at such a beautiful resort, is so disappointing. For being a longtime “Gables” institution, they really need to reconsider who they hire to manage the golf course. Absolutely unacceptable.

DO NOT PLAY HERE!! As you will see in MANY reviews - the staff is INCREDIBLY rude, makes up INSANE rules as they see fit, and makes you feel incredibly unwelcome. My daughter was playing a practice round here before a high school tournament. She also was a hotel guest with a suite. When my husband called to get her a tee time, they said that he (as a spectator) would have to walk. They would not allow him to have a cart to drive her - the player- even though she’s a playing paying and he was going to pay for a cart for her. Ok, fine. Never had this happen before. It’s RIDICULOUS but fine. When he gets there he is told - no, he is NOT able to walk along the course AT ALL and he must send her out alone with 3 men she does not know to play the round. My daughter is 12! I’m sure the men were perfectly fine and gracious - but as I’ve seen in other reviews here - there are men doing drugs and drinking on the course and they don’t stop it, so how would we know if she was going to be “fine” when she is stuck with 3 men she does not know for HOURS. My husband was furious and asked them if they really wanted that liability of sending a 12 year old out - walking nonetheless, with 3 men she doesn’t know. They did not care! Said snarkily (as if as parent we are being ridiculous) “She will be fine.” Now reading these reviews, it appears a spectator is allowed to go out to walk on the course after 2 pm - which is when she played. Who does this course think they are?! She has played 1,000s of rounds of golf all over the country - at some of the nicest and most prestigious clubs in the country to some of the dumpiest grossest clubs in the country (the life of a junior elite golfer lol) and NEVER has there been a worse experience. We will certainly never be back to the Biltmore unless required to - and recommend you do not ever chose to play here. There are WAY too many beautiful golf resorts in South Florida to give any $$ to this place. Read the other reviews here and you will see they don’t deserve the business.

The worst experience we’ve had in our entire family golf history.
We arrived at the course as three adult golfers and our 5-year-old son, who obviously can’t play all 18 holes yet and only has three small golf clubs. We fully paid for his game.

At hole 1, the starter stopped us and argued that we only had three bags instead of four. Yes, we don’t have four, because our 5-year-old son has only three small clubs, which he keeps directly in the buggy so he can easily reach them.

The starter insisted we must have four bags if we wanted to play. He refused to acknowledge the absurdity of such a rule when our little son wouldn’t even be able to take clubs out of a regular golf bag by himself. The starter insisted that only three golfers could play.

And because it was Friday, even our 5-year-old son couldn’t just ride along with us. Because it is allowed only from Monday-Thursday.

I can’t even describe the absurd situation the starter put us in. He even made our son cry, saying we couldn’t play — poor kid, heartbroken, kept saying he never wanted to play golf again.

Thank you so much, Biltmore Golf Course, for this trauma to a little future Tiger Woods, who has loved golf up to this day.

Rules are important, but sometimes it doesn’t hurt to apply common sense, humanity, and to realize that your attitude can have a negative impact on the young generation, who still believe the (golf) world is a good place.

The Biltmore’s recent renovations are visually stunning there’s no doubt the investment has elevated the aesthetic. However, the integrity of the golf environment falls shockingly short of what one would expect from a course of this prestige, especially with its connection to the Jim McLean Academy.

Both times we played, we witnessed a group of self-proclaimed “members” openly smoking marijuana, snorting what appeared to be harder substances, blasting music from their carts, drinking excessively, and cursing loudly all in the presence of children, including mine. When my husband politely asked them to lower the volume and be more mindful, they replied dismissively: “We’re members. If you don’t like it, go back to your golf club.”

Behavior like this isn’t just disrespectful, it completely undermines the safety and family-friendly standards many of us value, particularly those with junior golfers. It’s deeply disappointing to see this tolerated at such an iconic venue. Given that it happened twice in one week, I seriously doubt it was an isolated incident.

I never leave reviews but felt compelled to share this as a warning to other families. Until there is visible oversight and a commitment to upholding the values of the game not just the appearance. I cannot recommend this course to families or serious players.

Interesting historic design with decent conditions and surly service.
We stayed at the hotel and played one round. The range was not great. It was mats only, with beat up balls, and you can’t hit driver. There’s a small chipping area but beware - the staff will yell at you to pick your balls up, even if you knock them off the green. There’s a nice practice green that’ll show you want you can expect from the greens on the course.
Pace was what you’d expect from a resort course. We waited on most shots, but it wasn’t egregious. The greens were in good shape and made the course fun. Fairways, bunkers and rough could use some attention. A lot of the holes were similar and kind of blended together. There’s a couple of great holes that cross a river, and the book end par 5s are gettable.
The pro shop was nice, but the staff couldn’t be bothered to help with anything.
All it all it was a fun round with acceptable conditions. I’d play the track again, but I wouldn’t seek it out or pay a premium. Customer service could certainly improve.

The Biltmore golf course is what you would expect of a premium resort golf course. The course itself is pristine and wide open with easy roughs. Ideal for someone looking to have an enjoyable golf experience, without too much adventure. The fairways are so wide that slicers and hookers won’t have much difficulty. Difficulty is added to the course by high walled sand traps with overhanging lips, so no rolling through them. The greens are also difficult from being lightning fast and undulating, that will take getting used to. The facilities are first rate, with everything that you could ask for. Lots of valets and golf carts with comfortable padded seats, towels and tees. Plenty of air conditioned restrooms and water and ice machines on the course. A grass practice range is available with pitching, chipping and putting practice areas. The only let down when I went was no help with golf bags from the drop off area to the check in area

Terrible experience. The starter is a very unfriendly person that acts like he dictates the club. Instead of trying to help to get people out on the course he did everything to hide himself behind some crazy ( self invented ? ) rules. Biltmore sells greenfees online, but not communicates on their absurd procedures: player ( +2.5 hcp), 16 year old can not drive a buggy. I accept. Father ( 9 hcp), not playing, can not drive the cart, ( why ?!) . So let’s walk: player can not walk the course alone, father can not walk the course with player as before 2pm course not allows ‘spectators’…father could only assist the player when he rent a set of clubs and pay a full greenfee. A few members refused to pair with the player, so teetime past by, ( even there were a lot of spots available). ultimately at 2pm an other greenfee pair accepted the 16 year old golfer to join. Starter insisted to bring the cart back at 5pm…

The course is in much better shape than last year at this time. Still a lot of construction going on for the back nine. Assuming the construction ends the next season, it should be a real treat to play. The only thing that makes this course not great is the restrictions on where you can drive the cart. The constant warnings and seemingly random restrictions on areas that look 100% fine to drive on are very annoying and take away from the round. Once the construction is done, they need to scratch whatever GPS restrictions they have and start over. I have played a lot of courses in America but this is the worst cart restrictions I've ever dealt with.

Had an amazing time celebrating my birthday at the Biltmore Hotel.

The property itself is beautiful and the staff is very knowledgeable, courteous and attentive. Navigating can be cumbersome because the property is a bit sprawling with few direct routes between points of interest.

The pool is one of the largest and very comfortable staffed by very attentive folks, most of whom are bilingual.

The restaurants onsite are delicious and the Miami spice menus are a steal!

Brunch is everything you heard about and more! One time is not enough to try everything and quality is top notch. Don’t be a sucker, got to the carving station and the raw bar. Also, 4 different types of caviar, if that’s your thing.

The golf course is beautiful, long with challenging undulating greens in excellent conditions. I was super bummed that the proshop lost my Monday teetime, but Harrison @ The Biltmore Pro Shop spent the weekend calling golfers to find me an opening and he did!

I was honestly a bit of a needy guest and they were kind and patient and willing to accommodate.

All in all, if you want a taste of that old money good life, come get a slice at The Biltmore.

I have played Biltmore in the past and the course was great. I told a buddy and we booked a golf trip. We flew from Houston to Miami and booked two courses to play. We had a late tee time at the Biltmore and payed for it online. When we got there, they informed us there were no carts that we could use because they were saving them for a tournament the next day. There charging station was slow. We even called them on our way since traffic was 50 minutes. You would have thought she would have said something to us. She had to go to the starter with us to confirm. He was very rude about not giving us a cart. I spent a fortune on airfare, etc to play golf and they did not respect that. Their response was just call the booking company and get a credit. That is ridiculous!!!
Time, money, and now my buddy could care less about ever setting foot on the Biltmore property.

August 22, 2023: For $95 this track was in terrible shape and we had to play the front 9 twice to get in 18. We understood they were renovating the back 9 going in. What they didn't tell us was they had already started on the front 9. There was a dirt perimeter around every single green that was impossible for your ball to traverse due to a 1.5" high edge. No bump and run here. You are forced to land soft on the green and shoot over the dirt "moat." (See pics) For me, not a good first experience and a bit embarrassing I brought a customer here. However, staff were very friendly and we had a blast. Because of that, I didn't want to complain to staff, especially in front of my customer, but would definitely have done so if my situation had been different. If management reads this, you truly should be ashamed. Seriously....look at the pics.

Phenomenal course and practice facilities from end to end. This was my first Florida golfing experience and I’m stoked to have done it here. Got a good price on GolfNow so be sure to check there before booking. The staff was fantastic, super friendly and always helpful.

The practice greens were stellar and ran true to the course. The driving range was also nice and did the trick.

The course itself was great. The greens were perfect, and ran true. Quick, but fair and were consistent from hole to hole. I read some reviews on here about the fairways having some issues but I saw no evidence of that. Fairways all seemed great.

Overall, a great course that I’ll be sure to come back and play again.

Played at 12/28/22. Got a great rate from Teeoff at 12:30 TT. The green is fast and the course is well maintained. You can see the iconic resort building in most of the holes. The mushroom hammock(or oak?)trees are cool. Only two or three holes with water challenge. Saw a Manatee at the bridge from creek across the fairway at 17 holes. Beware you need to carry your bag from the parking lot to the starting place/starter booth, which about 90 yard away. The reason preventing me to give 5 stars is that the starter would not allow me to pay to ride with my wife (she is not playing) and she had to wait in the resort while most courses will allow that.

One of the top public golf courses in the area. It's not a difficult course but there are a few interesting holes such as #7, #17, etc. The fairways are forgiven with big, smooth, fast greens on some undulations. The elevated fairway bunkers make some of the holes interesting since the fairways appear as blind spots. The overall condition of the course is very good. The big, old, mushroom-like oak trees help to beautify the whole golf course. It's a pricey course to play without a complimentary range.

Played as a two-some on a Sunday afternoon while visiting on vacation. Knew that we would occasionally have to wait at the tee box for groups ahead because we were only a two-some playing behind a group of 4. However, it got very tough on the back 9 as many groups started to slow down, no one monitoring the pace of play and we ended up waiting at the 12th tee box for about 40 minutes for groups to clear!
This was extremely frustrating because they didn’t even have a Marshal on the course to keep up pace of play. We were expecting to finish in 4 hours and 20 minutes (normal 18-hole pace), but had we not complained and gotten the Marshal to come out to the course, it would’ve taken nearly 6 hours to finish the round!
To not already have a Marshal on the course during a Sunday afternoon shows that this course does NOT care about their guests’ time and the amount of money people are willing to spend to play here. Overall this experience was not at all worth the outrageous 2x times the regular greens fee we were charged as a non-Florida resident and would highly advise that you play somewhere else!

I played here 3 weeks ago and right before my teetime, I come out of the snack bar to find the starter driving off in my cart. I flag him down and he tells me he has put my belongings in a stranger's cart that I've been paired with. Not just my golf bag, but my wallet, keys, phone and other personal items. I didn't realize until I got back to the hotel that my $100 earbuds were missing. I called the pro shop who checked with the cart staff and, not surprisingly, they were not recovered. I emailed the golf director, the resort GM and the general help line asking them to make an effort to find the earbuds that their employee moved without my knowledge or permission.

The resort:
a) promptly replied to my email that they found my earbuds and were mailing them to me.
b) promptly replied to my email that they didn't find them but would be sending me replacement earbuds
c) promptly replied to my email that they didn't find anything and apologized for their employee's actions but refused to take responsibility for the loss
d) ignored my repeated emails over 3 weeks, never contacting me.

If you chose "d", then you've been to the Biltmore before. Give yourself 5 bonus points.

UPDATE: in the month since my post and their subsequent reply, no action has been taken. In fact, no attempt to contact me has been made.

UPDATE: one year later, the resort never made any effort to contact me, apologize for my experience or make any restitution for my loss caused by their employee. I hope this gives you some idea of the kind of place you are reading reviews on.

total incompetence: been going on for months, and they don't care.

Very nice having breakfast today here. The waiters gave us an excellent service, and the food was enough for a good breakfast, include seasonal fruits... We spent a fun time in this place with a beautiful view of the golf course.

over rated and over priced. course was in less than stellar shape from the tee boxes to the greens, we saw the drink cart once in 18 holes and we had to mix our own drinks. i would tell people to play elsewhere, not worth the price for the underwhelming experience and average course.

Robert Campbell was a great golf instructor. I’m hitting my irons straighter thanks to him. Going to work on getting out of a bunker next time we meet! Highly recommend him.

they didn’t keep the course in super good shape and the staff was not very helpful when we needed something. I would recommend playing a different course in the area. You’ll get more for your money

I was recommended to check out the course from a co-worker that comes here all the time. I'm not sure if it was bad luck, but a lot of the staff seemed to be in a pretty sour mood. The course seems decent, and it's definitely in a great area, so lots of potential there! I just recommend that they work a bit more on their customer service.

You come here for an experience. The course is still undergoing some maintenance, but it still plays great. While on vacation I played here twice, and even though it rained the night before one of my rounds, the grounds crew did a great job to try and dry the course up. The staff around the course are very nice as well

Much better than the previous reviews had said. The course condition isn’t perfect at the moment but it’s a good layout and staff were friendly. Pace of play was decent as well.

The hours listed online do not reflect actual open hours. Arrived Monday morning for a 7:30 open but come to find out doesn’t open until 10am. I live almost 2 hours away and traveled to play this course. Very disappointed.

I just went to the reopening of the Biltmore Course. I was expecting great fairways and fast greens. Major disappointment. Minimal course changes and the condition was terrible. Large sections of sawd that looks like it is from home depot and laid the night before. The club house was worse. I ordered a lobster bisque and got some kind of gumbo and the got a coke can. Go to Miami Beach, Mel Reese, or Crandon and pay half of the price and better conditions. As for the hotel and buffet 5 stars always!!!

Honestly the staff are terrible they are no help at all. Fairways are in good conditions but the greens are disgusting plus their price is wayyyyy too high. Its not really worth going over there.

DO NOT COME HERE!!! The Biltmore (coral gables) served the most disappointing Christmas brunch I have EVER attended in my life! It was overbooked and understaffed. The food was reminiscent of a cheap Chinese buffet. The ac was not working for over 800 people in attendance, and they refused to turn it on. To top it all off, the staff were irritated and yelling due to the pressure of servicing the guests while being so severely understaffed! THEY DEFINITELY DID NOT MEET THEIR PROMISE OF, "LUXURY MEETING VALUE," FOR THIS EVENT!!! I do not recommend this venue to anyone!

This beautifully Spanish-designed hotel has an extraordinary History and hosted many celebrities (guess how it got its suite name "Al Capone" from).
It hides two real gems - a gigantic pool surrounded by columns, magically enhanced with the sunset, and a gourmet restaurant at bargain prices. A must.
