I been a member of bailys since 2020, I love the gym specially now but they have to train front desk how to treat the customer, I got treated like a criminal early in the morning it’s because my auto debit didn’t go through, i politely ask if I can get it and use the restroom and comeback to fix it and it’s a straight NO, I was help at the front desk, I have to ask her again to swipe my card on file again and she looks at me as if I am asking her to do the impossible. Bad customer service. If you’re joining this gym you want to make sure they process your auto debit every month,God forbid your card didn’t go through you will be shamed at the front desk.

Their cardio, free weight, and machine equipment gives a variety of options so you can hit your target areas and various ways. When they first refurbished the gym it was nice and the lift lab was a nice area where I could go and have a conversation and lift with my friends. Now they blast music and I have to raise my voice to talk. I might as well get the regular membership and go to the general squat rack even though the entire general area of the gym smells like feet at least I'd save a couple of bucks

I have been a loyal member of Chuze Fitness
for over five years, but today I had a very disappointing experience. I brought a friend with me to show him the gym, and instead of being welcomed, we were followed and treated as if we were doing something wrong. An employee named Susie made us feel extremely uncomfortable by constantly watching us and then approaching us in a very unprofessional and disrespectful manner. She even claimed to be the manager, which was not true, and only after I insisted multiple times did she finally give me the real manager’s name.

As a long-time member, I was embarrassed in front of my friend and other members because of the way this situation was handled. This is not the kind of treatment I expect from a place I have supported for years.

The staff here are incredibly rude. I was charged an extra two times for a purchase and when I spoke to the manager he said that I would have to figure it out on my own. I work out at Chuze almost every day. Without some of the employees,I don’t think I would keep going. Ivanna Wilson is one of the employees I’m talking about. She has the most beautiful smile! She always cares about what I’ve done, etc. She takes the time to talk to me and make me feel good. A clean gym is important, but the employees are much more important. There are numerous gyms in Jacksonville, but none of them have the caring employees that Chuze has. Thank you, Ivanna, for always making me feel special! I like the equipment and how friendly the staff is here, that’s it.
The place is filthy, the toilets are always clogged or just messy, usually both. Since day 1 I’ve never seen the sauna clean. Except for maybe 2 times and that did not include under the benches. (Idk what growing under the benches, but I feel like it might either be flesh eating or the leftovers of a crime scene. As far as the showers go, they are beyond filthy, there are flies everywhere and if you’re taking anything longer than a 2 minute shower then the water will rise and you’ll be in a kiddie pool. Btw the shower floors are disgusting. I would be lying if I said that this place is anything short of a health hazard. And honestly I can’t even blame the poor cleaning lady, she is only allowed 1 hour in the men’s locker room to clean what should take 5 hours plus maintenance once every 2 hours at minimum. If this place wasn’t so close to my house I’d literally be going anywhere but here. Btw the only reason I gave this place 2 stars is for the hard work the poor cleaning lady does, the friendliness of some of the staff, and the variety of equipment that are here. Please do better as you have vowed on your big poster. P.S. the flies source is in the tile ceiling or the drains.

Edit: the place has gotten arguably worse. Now the trash is getting thrown into the showers and the staff seems depressed or just don’t wana smile. Honestly at this point, just lower the monthly payments and let us take care of the place instead. This is truly embarrassing and I whole heartedly hope this place improves one way or another, especially since most people are locked in here for a year or the remainder of the year. This Chuze @St Johns Bluff is one Bailey's biggest with lots of space so you don't feel cramped. It has a wide variety of members which makes it interesting, very ethnic. I choose Chuze locations accordiing to its accommodations and this one suits me 3 out of 5 visits. Changing workout venues keeps them from getting boring and each gym has its own characteristics. Baileys/Chuze is still the best option for a workout with respect to price and features and hours of access (24-7). Finally the Red Light booths are working during staffed hours and for those of you who havent experienced the energy BOOST a red light session can give, you are missing out. I've found my workouts go a little better and a little longer when I've had some INFRARED light exposure. Infrared light spectrum is in short supply to those who are rarely in the sun because chemtrail junk in the atmosphere blocks a lot of it from reaching where we earthlings LIVE.

These guys got a new computer system and didn't transfer my auto pay correctly - then want to charge me service fees because they changed their system and couldn't pull off the data transfer. Cool gym, was using my premium membership to access a lot more in the past such as the glute room. I go in the next day they changed access for only max and more memberships? When I’ve been accessing it the entire time? I already have to pay so much for a premium and just to enter that one room I’d have to pay $50+ tax? I think it’s a little absurd and I’m upset because as a woman I felt the most comfortable doing glute exercises in that room. Lighting is a little too bright in the gym compared to how baileys used to be. Never heard of a gym with so many different membership tiers, honestly they’re just squeezing money out of you because each membership really only gives you access to certain things..like to bring a guest you’re telling me I gotta pay $20+ more dollars out of pocket? Actually crazy, some of the staff isn’t nice either you can tell they’re very judgmental to whoever walks in

Bring Bailey’s back….the majority of changes since Chuze bought the company have been bad. Nobody who actually lifts wants a bright gym. The new lift lab and layout are better but they barely compensate by being inundated by too bright fluorescent light. Construction while trying to lift is a hazard in many ways from dust and fumes to cables across the floor to name a few. The newest and worst change is the removal of paper towels from the gym floor. Sure pre-wet wipes are convenient and guarantees saturation for wiping down equipment but paper towels have other uses to the members than just wiping down equipment. Please put out a few paper towel stations on the floor. It was also an unpleasant surprise when my husband and I got married to learn that family bundle pricing was taken away. In order for us to fully access the childcare, we both need to pay for the highest membership to be able to independently bring them. For my husband, the childcare is the only facet of the highest membership that he takes advantage of.

We enjoyed Bailey’s before the changes and tried to be optimistic about the buyout but unfortunately have been let down.

Two cardio machines I tried both had mechanical and controller issues so management isn’t inspecting as they should. Still don’t get why there aren’t mirrors in front of the racks. My husband Tony and I have been working out here for quite a few years. We are thrilled with the changes that are being made since Chuze took over Bailey’s. The new makeover makes it so light and bright now. The new lighting is awesome! Solid equipment and plenty of it. Multiple options for lifting. The staff is awesome, we love the friendly smiles as soon as we walk in. They know members by name. Special shout outs to a few staff members in particular, Izzy, Alex and Aidan. I’ve gone to this location for over two years and have had little issue until recently. They charge my card at erratic times or say that my payments aren’t going through then add late fees on top of the monthly. I also miss the green rooms that I was paying extra for. My old pass barely works after the chuze app was added in the mix. As a Bailey’s member since 2020, I am very big on loyalty & customer service. My first time having to speak to someone at Chuze was very unpleasant. I had fraud on my bank account & had to close my accounts & get new cards. I come in to Chuze to update my payment information and they charged me late fees. It’s usually pulled between the 10th and the 13th of the month, today is the 11th. The day it is pulled from my account is inconsistent and I still came to change it within that time frame. Most businesses have grace periods.
I understand rules and policies but at this point it’s poor customer service. I’m being penalized for updating my card information. I normally pay $37 a month. I had to pay $116 today

The most upsetting part about being charged a late fee and a yearly fee is the fact I can’t even take full advantage of the gym. The facility isn’t complete! It’s still loud from construction and certain parts of the gym are not accessible. Between lying, being rude and unaccommodating I’m really considering switching locations or canceling my membership.
UPDATE: The manager called and we came to an agreement. I am please with the way he handled and fixed the situation.,

Large weight area with plenty of equipment. Some of the stuff is dated but works fine for me. Only downside is the mens locker room. It is more like a small clothes closet. No where near the size of the recently closed location. Almost no room in there to shower and dress comfortably. Been nice if that was remodeled.

Bailey’s on corner of beach / St. John’s bluff. Was having a decent workout during a crowded time and one of the workers walks thru the gym yelling at everyone to re-rack their weights, making the moment super awkward and weird. I thought a fight was going down or something at first but no it was just the worker trying to intimidate all the members for some reason. I saw two girls got scared and one was tearing up. If you want to be racially profiled and discriminated against - I recommend This Bailey’s gym location. One of the “Managers” (Logan) specializes in targeting black VIP members for the most trivial of reasons. The “No bags on floor policy” is only for black customers. If you are white, the location will have no problem with you having a bag there.

This review is for all Baileys not just St Johns Bluff.

Been a member here for years only because of the ability to use it 24hr. (btw many times my key card wouldn't scan to let me in so I either followed someone in or just left).

The company is not military friendly at all. Complete opposite actually. Rude staff that likes to discriminate and harrass some paying members over things they allow other members to do. Unnecessary sign up fees and lengthy contracts. Some personal trainers harass females while ignoring their clients. Roaches on the ground sometimes. Hidden fees everywhere, rude staff that avoids solving problems or helping you out. Memberships changed out of nowhere so if you signed up to have guest passes they are now gone unless you pay for their premium membership.

Better off going to Crunch or even Planet Fitness than wasting your money here. This gym has been downhill for a while and continuing the decline.

I go almost every day- nothing else to say. I finally made the upgrade from a different gym and this place is solid when I lived in Jacksonville. I will say this is a great gym,however, make sure you know what you’re getting into. Its much more corporate then it seems.

They are not going to tell you its a $50 cancellation fee, yes $50. I left the gym because I moved, and they told me its a relocation fee?

So they charge $50 to cancel and they aren’t located outside of Jacksonville . I could understand a fee but $50 is insane. That’s more than the monthly membership. All they had to say was there’s a cancellation fee for canceling within a year. They never brought it up.

DO NOT go here if they say you have to enter a contract. I was clearly not made aware. I really think that should be mentioned when you sign up. I had nothing bad to say about this place but the fees are ridiculous. Know what you’re getting into. It’s clearly a greed ridden company. I paid my fee, have a good day. Why can’t We part ways? I seriously just can’t believe this gym or its policies.

I diligently paid the cancellation fee, sent in proof that I moved, i even sent in a bank statement and they said my account was sent to collections and I never blocked them from charging me. So even if you try to prove you relocated they don’t accept that which is flat out wrong.

I will say once they get the proof that you moved the fee was refunded. Several weeks later.

The space between machines, they have a second floor to focus on just cardio machines. Friendly staff, kids daycare and multiple workout rooms. LOVE the sauna!!! Overall I love this gym !!!

Younger blonde girl- working with older woman, extremely rude.
Terrible customer service. Not even a smile, tone of voice was just not welcoming.
Working at the front desk, you should be extremely pleasant with great customer service.

My sister's and I was literally asking questions about the 7-day group work-out, free trial that they are advertising online, and the younger blonde girl responded as if we were a bother. Literally caught her rolling her eyes and giving us a side eye.
If you are unhappy with your job, just leave.

This is a really nice gym with two nice sections of cardio equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, etc.): one downstairs and one upstairs. Also, plenty of weigh training equipment, classes, smoothie bar, and much more.

Horrible customer service and unsanitary. This is the beach Blvd / St. John’s bluff location. I had an issue back in June where they allowed a member to exercise with open wounds on her legs with nothing covering them. She wasn’t cleaning machines and I’m surprised she was not stopped before coming into the gym. Huge infectious disease risk. I told the manager (Alex) about the patron and asked what their policy on open wounds was. He replied with “they must be covered”. I pointed out the girl and said I was leaving and disappointed at the conditions. I called 2 hours later to see if the issue was resolved in which the reply was “we gave her a bandaid”. I returned the following day to try and cancel my membership because I felt Baileys gym was not holding up their end of the contract of having a clean and sanitary gym as well as respectful patrons of those rules. The front desk called the VP, to which he would not speak to me (I could hear him through the phone), and I was told no incident report was filed. I also would have to pay the rest of the year (4 months) even though I told them I would not like to continue using their services and that I could cancel after that. The front desk provided no information on how to escalate the issue and drove me away when I asked. It wasn’t until I persistently called and emailed that a representative called me, not even addressing the problem, but instead to almost appease me with no solution. This was the first week of July. They said they’d call the other member and get back to me AND NEVER DID.

Not only did they allow people to have open wounds on machines, but they do not follow through in regards to safety and sanitation. I saw people with their shoes off all the time as well and not wiping down machines. Just gross. I’m not wasting any more money here.

Sweat PT is a scam. I love how they make up a fake location that is in no way associated with a Bailey’s. Of course I understand that this is a completely separate entity from Bailey’s. But the fact is sweat PT is housed inside of Bailey’s, and their contract is a trap. If you have any personal situation arise in which you need to cancel, They will not let you under any circumstances. They will keep charging you regardless. Do not join Sweat PT. There are hundreds of better options.

New baileys on point meadows as a member of baileys for 24 years I'm disappointed with the weight lifting equipment. They have NO hammer strength machines. Instead they went with the cheaper matrix machines I'm not happy so I go to a different gym that has better equipment. I am a little angry. They have machines in there that just take up space I have never seen anyone use them. BAILEYS must of got them cheap. Baileys is not what they used to be. But there's not much competition out there.

I’ve been a member since 2009 and overall have been very happy. Most of their gyms have all the amenities you would need (and more). The rates are not too pricey compared to other gyms. Gyms are clean with updated machines. I wished this location had a child’s play area.

I really like this location at St Johns. Great customer service, clean, and many amenities. Overall, it’s very pleasant place to workout!

Lack of professionalism. was told by an employee that i would have to pay a fee because another employee didnt know what they were doing when signing me up, none of my contact information was in my account and so i was told there was no phone number associated with my account AND THEN told a phone number was on my account that wasnt any number i was familiar with.

Equipment is quite nice, and people are friendly but I have to admit, this is a terribly money hungry company. I continue to be paying for services I am not using. They clearly threaten with suing and debt collectors in their contract (I've never seen such a brutal contract from any other gyms) and they also only provide an extremely short window of cancelation (I believe 24 hours) or else you are subject to paying absolutely everything for the year or however long you have down even if you don't use their facilities. The only excuse you have is a very well documented doctors note (which there has to be sufficient proof you wont be able to use the vast majority of equipment) or proof that you move something like 25 miles away from the nearest facility. I wanted to cancel because of my recent financial hardships (and not using the gym for a long while) and they won't let me and say it's to ensure the company gets all your money no matter what, that was their only reasoning. There is absolutely no room for understanding, no matter what. How terrible... LA fitness and Planet Fitness are some of the best gyms I've used in comparison, they would never do something like this and are very transparent and have fair/great cancelation policies. I won't recommend Baileys to anyone unless they fully understand the contract and have money to spare.

Bad customer service, Miguel at the front desk very rude and I don’t appreciate people talking down or snapping at me. I’m a patron of this gym and I pay my membership. I was with a girl a couple weeks earlier and she misplaced her key card and got a replacement no charge. I came in to receive a replacement and I was told their was a charge and when I informed him I was never aware of this, he began to be very rude and had no explanation on when the policy started. I will no longer go to that particular location. FYI I wasn’t rude back or got in to a disagreement with him I just kept it moving.

Went in and tried to check in 2 guests (which i’ve done previously at other locations) but was told this is not allowed, which is fine, but was trying to find a solution and an older blonde lady and a younger lady were extremely unhelpful and rude from the beginning, trying to tell us to go talk to someone else and mocking the other baileys locations for “never doing their job right”. finally after minutes of trying to see how to get the extra guest in they say at the end that we can just pay $10 for the extra guest. i had told them next time they should just lead with that because I have no problem paying $10 as i’m sure others wouldn’t. they then called US rude when we were just trying to go workout. Definitely going to other locations next time.
