Honestly couldn’t recommend going somewhere else enough, planet fitness gets more stuff done than these owners. Machines constantly broken or cables have resistance. The new owners kicked out all the good workers so now everyone there is on their phone with headphones in not really caring, the sauna has been broken for 2-3 months maybe longer. Not only did they raise the price, but have a cancellation fee even with all this false advertisement!! lol this place has become a joke with the new owners and I highly recommend trying other places like iron house, chuze, or even Planet.

I signed up under the idea that my 13-year-old daughter would be able to work out with us. Emily, who is conveniently no longer there was the one who signed us up and told us. I never used the facility once and they charged me for 3 months and the annual fee, which equals almost $200.

Honestly it’s an okay gym. I just moved down here and this has been the best out of the crunch’s. However the sauna has been down for almost two months and the front gate never works.. they have a scanner that barely scans with equipment that constantly gets stuck or wobbles. Just seems a little cheap for how much they obviously make. Not a bad gym but I’ll definitely be switching gyms next month.

This morning my card was charged 177$ and I don’t have a account with them or have never been in their club. My son has a account with them and 5 months ago I gave him 5$ for a day pass. He removed my card and called and verified the card was removed. Today 5 months later I was charged 177$. I didn’t give him permission or crunch fitness to access my account. The card was removed. I filed a dispute with my bank for theft. No one gave permission My son has his own bank account with they have access to. Instead they used a removed card and charged me on purpose. The company says oh well we got our money from some who hasn’t ever been in the establishment. This was theft no one gave permission. I’m calling the police they are crooks and will refund me my money and remove my card forreal this time

I joined this gym just for the sauna. I know that seems crazy, but I work out at home and don't mind paying the membership fee just for that purpose. The problem is the sauna has been down since I joined 4 weeks ago. I was told repeatedly would be open soon, maybe tomorrow. Since I don't use anything else in the gym I decided to cancel. They told me I had to give 30 days notice and pay the annual fee even though I never used the facility due to the equipment being down. This place seems nice, but it's like every other scam. All about getting their money. Hey Crunch, since you are obviously cash strapped, or just greedy. You can keep this blue collar working man's money since you apparently need it more than me. Oh yeah one more thing. "Kiss my grits Mel."

We thought doing the personal trainer would be a good idea. My Husband tried to cancel after 90 days, was told we were good and everything was canceled. We have been charged 4 extra times we were not planning on totaling around $1600.The first two times we were told it was a glitch and we were going to be refunded and then finally they told us we were missing paperwork that needed to be sent to finance and that the previous charges could not be refunded.
The way they bounce you around to cancel something is super frustrating and makes it impossible to feel confident with your membership. It shouldn't be this hard, you sign up on your app, and you should have the same ease to cancel. It shouldn't feel like trying to cancel a sketchy timeshare.

*Edit, we were able to get 800 refunded but it wasn't through Crunch, it was through our bank. And if we would've waited on Crunch to do the right thing we would've missed the window we could do a claim. We also had to pay to place a stop payment to make sure we don't have to deal with this again.

There's no corporate number to call, you're stuck talking to the managers at Harbor Village who are very nice and professional but will not do anything to help but follow up here after seeing a bad review. When you go to the Better Business Bureau the number they give for corporate is a gym in New York that can't do anything either. This is a huge issue.

What is the most frustrating thing is I actually liked this gym. The price for the membership, the classes, and even the initial customer service is super nice. BUT where they are toxic is when it comes to taking action with anything to do with their payments and finance department. And internally Harbor Village will pass this off as something outside their control. If they wanted to make it right they would have and they would've been able to refund the same month we had these issues..

A nice club and location in Jacksonville. My only slight is the communication. The men's sauna has been down for 4+ weeks and they have no update available at all. I've asked weekly and each member at the desk says, it's down - not sure what is wrong or when it will be fixed. Only, today did someone offer to use the red light sauna (+ membership) which is shared with all during this time; the sauna is small, and regulates temps for cool down times. Not ideal. I would simply appreciate members offering more information/ timeline to a resolution for the men's sauna. In my interactions, its seemed as a nuance to even ask why/when this will be fixed. Would simply appreciate a more genuine response from staff and an expedited update from the club, aside from the "everyone needs a rest" sign posted for several weeks. With an "anyclub" membership I've visited the other two locations in Jacksonville and many others across the state of FL; I've yet to experience a staff who is most concerned with internal dialogue while expressing a lack of concern for anything outside of their bubble.

10/8/24 update
Roof is fixed gym is packed.
Sauna is broken over a month.

6.22.23 Update. The roof is leaking for weeks now. The roof fell in on the training area. So much moisture mold will be growing soon if these leaks are not fixed. Also it has 1/4 platforms out of use. Every week there are more buckets crowding the gym.

PLEASE GET THIS FIXED!

Will revaluate my rating when the gym is back to the status that I would recommend to a friend.

Update (1 year): I have been a member for a year now. I'm still loving this place. They maintain equipment in a timely fashion and keep the gym clean. The members and staff are amazing. If you want fitness and community, this is the place.
I have only done the yoga classes. The Yogis are well trained, and so good you will become you a regular. For the price second to none.

Be sure to play on the monkey bars! Love the HIIT area!

They have all you could want in a gym. Olympic platforms, a HIIT area with sleds, every cardio machine you could dream of, and plenty of weights. At peak times, it can be a little cramped, but this is common for all gyms, and for the price, i am surprised it is not worse. The staff are all nice and helpful! Great gym.

My husband signed up for a membership in March 2025. Unfortunately we unexpectedly had to move and have no access to a crunch gym in our new location so we needed to cancel. We were continued to be charged for our membership. We called several times and were given the runaround by the admin Landry. She was rude and would not listen. She claimed we cussed at her and screamed at her. NEVER HAPPENED. We have ALL phone calls records. She couldn't accept she was wrong about the refund we were owed and instead of LISTENING to us, she would hang up on us and refuse to assist. Finally the GM Alex held resolve it but he wasn't much better. He didn't listen to the concerns about his admin and gave no apology for the back and forth we have been dealing with since April. Sadly since it's a franchise there's no way to escalate the situation to. Do NOT recommend. You can find way better gyms and service.

Dont ever sign a contract with this place, they will steal your money. Go elsewhere!!! I signed a 3 month Personal Training contract in Feb and they're still pulling money from my account in Aug, after sending cancellation emails in May and June. Have all documentation and still saying account was frozen therefore I owe still in Aug. Haven't even been to the gym since May but they have banked my sessions and I can use at anytime. I have been a member for 2 years.

Pros: price and staff
The front desk ladies (5 am crew) and staff are fun, friendly, and welcoming. The vibes of the 5 a.m. members are immaculate — 5-stars.

Cons (and reason for 1 star):
The cleanliness of the men's locker room over the last 8 months has truly descended into a realm of darkness and filth. On lucky days, when the mop bucket is left out, some of us members will mop the sauna ourselves. It's common to find piles of trash — used paper towels, dirt, and various unidentified smears on the tile, counters, and glass sauna door. Showers, lockers and in general the locker room facilities will remain broken for months, regardless of how many times it has been reported.

Crunch has implemented a QR self-reporting system for issues, but our cries for help go unanswered. When will the lords of Crunch hear our lowly calls?

The sauna floor is by far the worst and most dangerous part of the locker room. Honestly, if I posted photos, they might be flagged as AI-generated because it’s that filthy.

I will gladly update this review to 5 stars — simply — if management would just empty the trash and mop the floor

I was in the hospital for a month with pneumonia. Was told I needed to go into the gym to cancel (without working it’s extremely difficult to pay for a membership). Went in and was told it all could’ve been done by email. However, there was nothing done and I had to continue to keep my membership. It’s all very frustrating. Always disgustingly packed. Too packed to even breathe. No clips for any bars!!! People are always stealing the equipment. Tons of social media influencers recording themselves. Cameras pointed straight up their privates. They record you without permission. People take your weights and clips without asking. Every single time!!!! There are barely any clips or bars so everyone is fighting for them!! Nasty rude culture.
There’s literally several bench press stations and squat racks without a bar. That’s a waste of space. How much does it cost them to keep a bar and clips at each station. This is a gym for crying out loud.
There’s a line in front of the benches and squat racks and don’t even look at who is using them because you’ll end up going viral as a “creep” just for looking in the direction of their camera.
The classes are unbelievably loud. They are so loud it’s just unbearable. I can’t come in to have a peaceful workout anytime during the classes because it hurts my ears. Even my Apple Watch tells me it’s dangerous to be exposed to these noise levels.

Staff is always friendly of course. But for the amount I pay a month for a premium membership plus yearly fees and I do not get access to the whole gym almost every time I go there.

When they have group classes on the turf they rope off all of the equipment so you cannot access it. So much equipment is stored there so now your workout is limited to certain areas. And the group classes always seem to be there when I’m there and I go about 3-5 times a week and it’s frustrating paying this much when I can’t use the turf area most of the time.

Easily the dirtiest and filthiest gym I have ever worked out and showered in. They have maybe cleaned the men’s bathroom once this year. If it was not as convenient as it is for my work and home life there is a zero percent chance I would continue going here. If there are any other options for you PLEASE go there. The gym equipment is forever dirty. Never wiped down. I have mentioned things to the gym staff and to the assistant GM to no avail. Sad actually. If there was a health code for gyms this place would be closed!! Very maddening! When flies and maggots are all over the showers then there is a clear indication that the entire ownership and staff should consider other career opportunities and def not the restaurant business🤣🤣🤣. I've been a member here for close to two years now. When I first joined it was absolutely fantastic. Zero complaints.

I'm not sure if management changed or what but over the last year this location has had numerous issues.

For one, the men's bathroom is constantly filthy. The floors are never clean and the sanitation area is beyond gross. I can count on my fingers how many times the bathroom was *somewhat* clean.

What is frustrating is I always see the front desk employees hanging out when one of them can easily do a sweep of the bathroom every few hours to at least mop the floor.

It is also BEYOND hot inside the gym, especially when it's busy (which is almost always). Does the AC just not work here?

Lastly, the tread mills are constantly broke. These things happen, it get it, but 99% of the time there is no signage to let people know that the treadmills are down. In fact, one time I had one legit cut out on me in the middle of my run.

I hate to be negative but I feel like it's the little things that can make for a good gym and this location is really missing the mark.

What happened to this place. This gym hasn't been properly cleaned in months, you can see mold in the bathrooms. Broken machines, 6 people at the desk with their heads down or talking to each other as you walk in. I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent experience at your gym. It was the worst gym experience I have ever been a part of due to the facility being consistently overpacked, the lack of readily available cleaning supplies, and the water filter frequently being out of service.

As a result of these issues, I cancelled my membership. I received a confirmation email stating that I owed $0.51 and that my membership would not be fully cancelled for another month. I find it unacceptable that I am being charged for an additional month after cancelling due to the poor conditions of your facility.

Furthermore, I was shocked to receive notification that this supposed $0.51 debt has been sent to collections for an amount exceeding $100. This is absolutely outrageous and completely unwarranted. This gym is an absolute joke, and your business practices are appalling.

I request immediate resolution of this issue. The collection agency needs to be contacted to cease their attempts to collect this fabricated debt, and my membership cancellation should be processed immediately without any further charges.

The entire place is different and on a downward spiral in the past six weeks under new ownership. Reported sauna in ladies locker-room broken a dozen times no one cares. The locker room sauna has literally been down for six weeks!
Wrote an email, asking for help. No reply. There were high end very sanitary bottles of wipes for cleaning machines now replaced with motion detectors paper towels that do not work and you have to hold a spray bottle that everyone has touched- how is this healthy? Soap in restrooms have been empty last 3 times I have been in. Also same useless motion sensor paper towel dispenser in restroom. Literally people are waving hands up and down and all around to get the towels to come out. The most discouraging part is that not one person cares enough to have a conversation or fix anything.

The nicest of the Crunch’s in the Jax area. Everything is clean, there are wipes and towels everywhere, the check-in is electronically scanned and has a gate so you minimize your human interaction (which I like)
There hasn’t been a workout class there that I haven’t liked. Donna is super nice and encouraging and provides modifications so anyone can comfortably exercise to their abilities. They watch your form and correct as you go. It’s such a good gym.

Decent gym, decent equipment. No complaints other than overcrowding sometimes. I rarely leave bad reviews because I’m in sales, and I get it. Not every day is my best day. That said, I will admit that Savannah at the front desk has been persistently rude and unfriendly, not just to me, but to other members I speak to as well. She charged my card twice by accident and then when I showed her, she acted like it was my fault? She did not offer a refund and shrugged and said not sure why that happened and then I stood there being ignored for a few minutes before I left. It wasn’t much money and I was sweaty and uncomfortable. Ever since then she rolls her eyes when I walk in. Just bizarre. I am not sure why she is working a client facing position.

My husband and I were members of Bailey’s gym for years. They closed the location we normally used, so we decided to check out other gyms. Crunch had a deal going on to join for 25 cents with no enrollment fee and no 1st month due. Husband decided to do the base membership with a one year commitment. I was going back & forth between base and peak. I thought I might try some group classes. I asked what would happen if I did the peak to start and wanted to change it to base in the future. I was told I could make that change after 2 months. So, I did the peak membership. Now, two months later, I haven’t done a single class. I went in on 3/23 to change my membership to the base plan. I was told that I could make the change, but would now have to pay the enrollment fee of $75. I asked why would I have to pay the enrollment fee. One, I’m already enrolled as a member. Two, when I signed up and became a member there was a no enrollment fee special going on. Three, no one said I would have to pay the fee if I changed it after two months.
I asked to speak to a manager. I was referred to Alex, who was not in that day. When I was there on 3/24 I was able to speak to Alex. I explained everything and he said I would have to pay the $75 enrollment fee if I changed membership levels. His reasoning is the base membership normally has an enrollment fee, while the peak does not. He said he didn’t have a way around it in the system (really?!?!). He said if there was a current no enrollment fee special, I could change with no fee. I asked if I paid it, would he put a $75 credit on my account to cover it. He thought for a second and said no. I asked who else I could speak to. He said he would call the franchise owner and see what he said. I asked if the owner could call me. He said no. I asked why not, and he said it was his job and the owner shouldn’t have to get involved in these types of issues.
They ran a special on 3/26 to join for 3 cents. I spoke to Alex and asked if he could help me change since there was now an active special. He said he can't do anything other than cancel my current membership and I could do that one online, but, I would then have to pay the $75 annual fee I just paid 2 weeks ago again!
I just can’t wrap my head around the fact that a member who is already enrolled, and signed up during a no enrollment fee special, would be required to pay the enrollment fee when changing membership levels. Husband and I signed up at the same time and he didn’t pay any of the fees they are now trying to make me pay if I change levels. We just paid our $75 annual fees. We will gut out this year while my husband is on contract and then find a new gym. Very disgusted with this situation.

I am really surprised by the bad reviews of this particular location. I have nothing but good things to say about this Gym. The group classes are great. The instructors are wonderful. The crowd is very low key, not show-off type of people. The people at the front entrance always greet you.
You can take advantage of going to many other Crunch locations nationwide.
They could update some of the equipment though!

Avoid This Gym – Rude Trainer, Disrespectful Environment

I finally canceled my Crunch Fitness membership at the Atlantic Blvd. Harbor Village location, and I couldn’t be happier to be done with this place. The main reason? One incredibly rude and entitled personal trainer who seems to think she owns the gym.

This particular trainer sets up for her class a full 30 minutes before it even starts, with zero regard for anyone else working out. I’ve had her place equipment right in front of me while I was mid-set, completely disrupting my workout as if I didn’t exist. The first couple of times, I let it go—but today, after having my session interrupted yet again, I politely asked her to respect my space. Her response? “It’s not all about you. The 30 people coming in are way more important.” Paying members using the gym for its intended purpose apparently don’t matter here.

If you’re looking for a gym where you can actually work out without being treated like an inconvenience, look elsewhere. There are far better gyms in this city that actually respect their members instead of catering to one trainer’s inflated ego. Save your money and go somewhere that values you.

Great place to work out! Equipment works well and is properly maintained regularly. Staff is wonderful and helpful. The only reason why it's four stars instead of 5 is due to child care and a/c issues. The weekend hours are not as flexible for working moms always. So more staff and longer hours for the childcare portion as well as a proper air conditioned facility, and it gains a 5 from me.

My daughter has never been away from me untill we started crunch and she and I both LOVE the ladies who take care of her. I did not have a positive experience at this gym. Drew misinformed me about a program, despite my clear request to try it out for a month due to an impending relocation. I asked numerous questions and reiterated my concerns, and he assured me that I could only commit for a month before a reassessment in November. However, when it came time to cancel in November, he claimed there had been a miscommunication on my part, which felt like a deliberate attempt to trap me.

Additionally, his assistant, Natalie, failed to provide the promised meal and workout plans. When I approached Casey at the front desk to explain my need to cancel, her response was unhelpful; she slammed a paper on the counter and blamed me for the misunderstanding. It’s clear that she could benefit from better customer service training.

In hindsight, I would not have signed up and save myself the headache.

I recently visited Crunch Fitness at Harbour Village and had a great experience overall. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a positive atmosphere. The members are also nice, making it a comfortable place to work out. However, I do wish there was more equipment available or that it was less crowded during peak times. Overall, a solid gym with a friendly vibe!

From our first "exploratory" visit and throughout our +/- 6 months of membership, we have been totally impressed with Crunch staff and facilities. Staff is professional, knowledgeable, warm and friendly. They have a lot of high quality equipment and many classes. The club is clean and well maintained. The atmosphere is good without lots of "grunting", but seriously working out happens!
We love the trainers and the reception staff too!

I just joined on 1/2/2024 and it's a nice facility. On the smaller side compared to some offerings around, but it has what I need. I was really happy with the support that Emily gave me during my sign up and eventually upgrading my account to fit my needs. Thanks for dealing with my 1000 questions!

First time in my whole life of attending gyms that I am told I cannot use a service that I pay EXTRA for. When I went in to take a class this morning after driving 20 mins to gym I was told I could not drop my kid off at Kid’s Crunch as they were at capacity. Such a large gym should have procedures and motions set in place to prevent this from happening. Communication would be helpful as well to prevent me from driving all the way there. So disappointed.

You get there too spin bike and suddenly you are told that the bike room cannot be used anymore if it’s not for a class or whatever. Nobody told me this detail when I was touring around the facility. Am I going to have a discount on my membership since I cannot use the facility as I was told once? I guess they “forgot” to tell their members. Money must be flowing…

Been a member for over 2 years. Genuinely love this gym and it’s changed my lifestyle.
However its increasing commerce marketplace at reception is annoying. As of late, every day, there’s vendors waiting to solicit us. I just wanna workout… it’s frustrating with literally 3-5 vendors trying to sell me something as I walk in and out.

I love crunch! There are so many class options that I sometimes have a hard time selecting. Instructors are well trained and enthusiastic. Classes vary in length so they can be bundled based on your body and interests. I don’t use the equipment often but there are many options. The cardio equipment is easy to use and there are large screen tvs. The premium hot yoga and hiit classes are amazing. Crunch provides excellent value for money.

Love working out at this gym. Been going for 3 mnths now. BUT the channels they have on the televisions is annoying. Mostly all are news & sports. It would be nice to have at least 3 channels of music videos too. They have 3 straight sports Than 4 straight news. HELLLO, they're are young ppl here too! Anyways, I Already spoke to someone about it but 🤷🏼‍♀️😏

Every gym is the same. The difference is in how they are run. This one is not run with any objective other than to seperate you from your money. The rates they advertise are not what you pay. Hidden fees and special pricing if you "do this and not that" policies are in full effect here so read the fine print. They also make it as difficult as possible to change membership plans AND THEN want to charge you for the privilege. If you're not ok with that, then they make it as difficult as possible to cancel and hide behind archaic policies with false premises as an excuse for taking more money. Make no mistake, Crunch is not in the fitness business. They make their money off nickel and dimming and deceiving customers.

I’ve been going here on and off for over two years now and everyone is so nice. I love the workout environment (outside of peak hours of course but after while you learn the schedule and adapt). I saw a new face today, Eddy and he was nothing shy of a good breather before and after a good session. I hate that it’s so far, but the commute is worth it.

This gym is a joke if you do not do group fitness. The older lady who runs the fitness classes which take up 1/2 the gym has a terrible attitude and is rude. Its not the patrons fault they want to use the ENTIRE GYM and the equipment we all pay for. Today she would not let me get kettle bells they were not even using for a class, because they working out near the area. I was just trying to grab them go. This is not the first example of her being rude to myself and I have seen this negative attitude towards other members as well. She is extremely rude to the patrons trying to work out. I have never seen a gym employee with such a bad attitude. She just came over yelling, completely unprofessional. I barely understood her because she was walking away yelling as I tried to ask her what was wrong. Her name is Laurie.

Do not work out here unless you want to do group classes. 1/2 the gym (group class studio, the turf area on the weight room floor [about 40% of the weightlifting area], the additional “private” training room, and the spin room) is closed to normal gym goers. Working out here with rude staff is a chore.

Edit: I would have to disagree. I find you to be rude in your approach to members. I would say your co-workers agree. When I went to the desk to complain I stated “I would like to speak to a manager (visibily frustrated)” and the team member at the desk said “What’s wrong? Did Laurie make you mad?” This indicates to me that your coworkers are familiar with your negative attitude. A professional would have talked to me, and tried to clear up a miscommunication if there was one. Someone who is clearly only concerned with perception and how they look, would handle it like you do. I think your response sums up your attitude. I am glad today is my last day at the location.

In theory this might be a decent gym. The main problem is that it is so overcrowded that you won't be able to follow a set workout plan that requires a squat rack or certain machines. It's also always loud and warm inside due to all the people. Another issue is the amount of attitude that some of the employees give you when asking questions. Just seems like an unwelcoming environment overall. If you want to lift seriously go to Bailey's, if you want to workout casually go to Planet Fitness on Atlantic. Avoid this place unless you absolutely love fitness classes.

Equipment and everything is nice but the back office here sucks. I canceled my membership a month ago just to be charged the month after. They tell me it’s in there notes and it’ll take 7-10 business days for an unauthorized transaction to be given back to me. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to give their financial information to them at all.

Love this club it has a lot of wellness options like red light drynpod, red light sauna, sauna, and the equipment is fantastic. And of course the Crunch staff is always super helpful, friendly and fun. There's always fun member events and treats, like today! I give it five stars. Excellent equipment. The best Ive seen in a commercial gym. Crowd… not my favorite.. Monday at 10 am so crowded, is everyone working remote? layout.. it is smooshed, they are using every single square inch of that stienmart, I think if they eliminated some areas and used them for more space to place equipment it would be much better. Overall I mean it’s not a bad gym. I wish baileys would invest in better gym equipment god forbid..they never will. Crunch has much better stuff thats for sure

This Crunch fitness is incredible!! They do an amazing job keeping the gym and machines clean, friendly staff & great atmosphere. I even had friends and family come in for a day pass and they rave how clean and spacious the gym is. If you haven’t tried the Crunch on Atlantic, it’s a must do!
