Great from a facility standpoint, but the equipment is not well maintained, and members run the show. No one enforces the general rules of etiquette in a gym. Towels or water bottles occupying empty machine while the member uses another. I spent 25 years as a General Manager in the health club industry, and this place needs some help!!!

I’m writing this review because I feel completely misled, overcharged, and ignored by Crunch Fitness at this location and I want other customers to be aware of what happened.

On October 15, I spoke with Christian (the manager) about reopening my account. He requested my debit card information, but assured me that I would not be charged until I came in because I needed to verify my checking/routing number, and signed the proper documents. I never came in, never signed anything, and never agreed to restart my membership.

Despite that, I later found out my account was charged without consent.

I immediately called and spoke with Daniella, explained the situation, and was told that I would be refunded. This was the second time I had reached out. I was even told that my case was “unusual” which made me feel singled out when all I did was trust what their manager told me.

It’s now been over a month, and instead of issuing the refund, more money is still being deducted from my account. My membership was supposed to be canceled, yet charges continue.

This situation feels deceptive, unauthorized, and unethical. Charging someone’s card without a signed agreement, consent, or completed enrollment raises serious concerns about improper billing practices. At this point, it feels like I’m being robbed, especially since I haven’t attended the gym in a year

All I want is:
✔️ The charges refunded
✔️ My membership fully canceled
✔️ No further unauthorized withdrawals from my account

I’m posting this review because phone calls have led nowhere, and customers deserve transparency especially from management. I hope this review reaches the right person who can finally resolve this, because this experience has been extremely discouraging and unfair.

Great gym with plenty of equipments to use! PT sessions with Jay have been good so far especially with helping with accountability and pushing you to your limits, while also helping with time management because far too often I would see other gym members do one workout and rest for 10-20 minutes wasting time. Also Jays knowledge and expertise allows him to come up with workouts on the spot and after a year of training with him, I have seen great improvements with strength. The only downfall is the gym can get crowded in the afternoon past 5:30 but that’s when Jays expertise with different workouts comes in hand and being flexible on the fly.

Was invited here as a guest by my friend whose membership allows a plus one for a quick workout. We literally had to walked out without exercising because they would not stop trying to sell me a membership/ try to get me to switch from my gym. When we arrived I was told that they have to give me a tour because it’s my first time. So I asked to skip it because we were on a time crunch to go to work and the guy told us that “he can get fired if we don’t”, so I agreed. Most of the tour was asking questions about why I feel how I feel about they gym, why I’m comfortable at they gym i currently go to, etc. as I told him that I’m not completely comfortable in the gym especially as a plus size person it can be a little intimidating. We completed the tour and I told him I wasn’t interested in membership and he said “ I have to get the manager to speak to you”. At this point we’re almost 30 minutes in, no work out. So my friend who is a member demanded my ID back and we left. This experience is what draws people AWAY FROM GYMS (especially early in fitness journey)! Such a hassle, poor sales tactics, and too many games! Also feels like false advertisement of the membership tier that allows a guest, so you can invite a plus 1 and they will be haggled for 30 min before I can work out? My friend was embarrassed that she brought me to her gym and we couldn’t work out. I will stay at my gym where my 2 guests have their own barcode and be welcomed warmly! Yall should be ashamed of yall self for putting people further AWAY from fitness with ya games!

This is my favorite gym, period. The biggest gym I've ever belonged to in my life. Firstly, there's plenty equipment and rooms for everyone, whatever you're into. Second, the staff seems upbeat and eager to work here - which you don't find in most other gyms, and all equipment is clean and updated. I also love the huge boxing room, and their yoga room - where I can do my meditation. Props to everyone who works up front 💪🙏

Formal Complaint Regarding Poor Customer Service at Crunch Fitness

Dear To the District Manager, Corporate,
I am writing to formally complain about a recent instance of poor customer service I experienced at your Crunch Fitness Tamarac facility. As a previous member/ guest attendee I expect a certain level of value, professionalism, care and appreciation, which was significantly lacking during this interaction.
The incident occurred on 10/16/25 at approximately 8:20am and 9:45 am. I was attempting to get myself re-introduced into the gym realm. My friend is an active member of the club and she shared a gift 1 day free trial. I experienced tremendous pushback from the front staff and GM regarding “the policy”. According to the one day free trial it details “ Must have no previous guest pass usage in last 30 days “ which I have not been to Crunch Fitness in over a year ½ due to the same concerns of poor customer service. After expressing my concerns and feedback to the general manager Christian Rodriquez he shared the only thing he can do is “consider my concerns. However, nothing will be done.” When I shared my feedback with the GM that I will share this issue with corporate the GM responded “good luck” as if Crunch Corporate does not care or value their customers.
This form of service is unacceptable. The General Manager was unhelpful and did not attempt to solve my problem by being solution focused. If you don't deliver outstanding customer service, how can Crunch possibly expect to grow? A poor service interaction doesn't just lose us one transaction; it puts Crunch future growth at serious risk. Facts to consider: more than half of consumers will reduce or stop spending with a company/ brand after just one negative interaction. For 73% of customers, customer experience is an important factor in their purchasing decisions.
This level of service is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the standards of Crunch Fitness. It caused unnecessary significant frustration, disappointment and detours.
I am seeking clarification regarding the corporation's commitment to prioritizing customer value. I am interested in reactivating my membership, however, the lack of demonstrable improvement in the previously reported areas of consumer concern makes commitment challenging at this time.
I look forward to your prompt investigation into this matter and a satisfactory resolution within (5) business days.

This place is a complete nightmare — BEWARE and check your accounts!

I’ve never experienced anything like what Crunch Fitness (Sunrise, FL location) has put me through. They fraudulently charged me over $300 for personal training I NEVER signed up for, NEVER agreed to, and NEVER used. When I tried to get answers, I was met with lies, delays, and total disrespect.

To make things worse, someone at the Sunrise location actually forged my electronic signature on a cancellation form to make it look like I had signed up for training and then canceled it which I never did. That’s fraud, plain and simple.

I called multiple times, was put on hold for 30 minutes and completely brushed off. Instead of fixing their mistake, they dug the hole deeper by trying to cover it up. Because of their shady behavior, my bills bounced, and I ended up dealing with unnecessary financial stress and overdraft fees.

Crunch Fitness should be ashamed. This company clearly does not care about integrity, honesty, or their members. If you’re a member, check your statements carefully every month, and if you’re thinking about joining, don’t unless you want to deal with fraud, frustration, and zero accountability.

If you're thinking of becoming a member here I would advice you to be aware that the staff here is not very friendly and understanding they sure make a lot promises and after you sign on the dotted line everything changes.

I just cancelled my membership you probably ask why?
well when I joined the gym they said it would not be a problem if one day I wanted to bring a guest, so when my girlfriend came to visit from another city I thought we would have no problem but instead we got the third degree because she left her identification at my apartment and the idiot at the front desk didn't let us work out. (really?)
I very nicely asked to let us thru and she would bring identification the next day but he said noooo. Since I was promised at the beggining that their policy had nooo problem with a guest but they went back on the word I just cancelled my membership because he could have said I'll let you thru today and please bring her I.D. tomorrow but I guess customer service here not a priority. Also be advised the loud getto music they play will sometimes not let you concentrate on your work out.
P.S. be aware they charged me and will charge you a cancellation fee!

Shower floor and walls have mold. Room where we perform Zumba and other classes, the floor is full of lose hairs at 9 am, means it wasn't cleaned overnight. Today (8/27/25) was a frustrating experience at the front desk. I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt overlooked multiple times and it made me question how things are being handled.

There was a young lady at the desk (I believe her name was Kendra). She was helping someone ahead of me, which was perfectly fine. But then a few people came up after me—one for a class, another for the hydro bed, and even someone standing behind me—and each of them was helped before I was. Meanwhile, I was just waiting for something as simple as clips for the deadlift bar.

I finally asked to speak with a supervisor because it felt like there was no accountability or system in place to make sure people are helped in the order they arrive. The supervisor, a Hispanic gentleman, came up but honestly didn’t seem very concerned. While I was explaining the situation, it felt like he just wanted me to hurry up and be done. He told me there wasn’t much he could do, handed me the clips, and went back to what he was doing.

As a paying member, it’s discouraging to feel like your time and experience don’t matter. I understand things get busy, but a simple system for helping people in order would go a long way in making members feel respected and valued.

My friend and I have been attending this Crunch in Sunrise since it opened. We have never encountered an issue until today. We were a few minutes late to Cycle and the group x manager Laura denied us entry stating that there were no bikes but failed to realize we had friends inside the class stating there were about 5 bikes available. It wasn’t only that she denied us entry but it was her demeanor. It was rude and condescending. It was even obvious that the other employees were uncomfortable with the exchange. We understand the gym is trying enforce rules. However, being that this is the first we have ever encountered this issue a polite warning would have sufficed. If rules are going to be enforced then the gym should provide enough notice and a grace period to allow your paying gym members to adjust to the rules. This situation was handled inappropriately.

I really enjoy being a member at this gym! The classes are fantastic—especially Pilates with Molena, Barbell with Franchesca and Zumba with Robert. They’re amazing instructors who bring great energy and make each session fun. Nikki at the front desk is always friendly and helpful.

My only suggestion would be to consider opening up more slots for the Pilates classes, as they tend to fill up very quickly.

Great gym only downside is I wish they were better with cleanliness. Was benching and found tiny termite looking ants crawling on the bench. Don’t even feel safe having my gym bag on the ground. Like most gyms around, it gets pretty packed at most anytime that I have visited. But they are the only gym that I have ever seen about 8 (maybe more) adjustable flat benches inside the designated dumbbell area, so there is usually always 1 or 2 adjustable flat benches open which is not the case at most other gyms.

I joined Crunch to get in shape not to feel like I accidentally wandered into a block party in the Bronx at 6am.

Don’t get me wrong, I love music. But Crunch blasts hood anthems and Spanish rap like Bad Bunny is personally spotting you. I put on noise-canceling headphones, full volume… still heard, “DALEEE!” cutting through like a sonic bullet.

Trying to deadlift while someone’s yelling “¡Perreo!” in my ear is… distracting, to say the least.

I asked if they could turn it down. They turned it up. I swear the dumbbells started dancing.
Now, to be fair the gym is huge, and they’ve got a ton of equipment. Props for that.

But here’s the kicker: it’s influencer central. Everyone’s recording. Tripods by the dumbbells. Ring lights in the squat rack. I half-expected someone to ask me to move because I was blocking their ab shot.

So yeah… if you’re looking for a solid gym that doubles as a music festival and a TikTok studio..Crunch is your spot.

As for me? I’ll be working out somewhere I can actually hear my own playlist and not end up in someone’s “leg day vlog.”

I came here to lift weights, not feel like I’m prepping for a rap battle. So we’re cancelling. No hard feelings, Crunch but I like my workouts with reps, not remixes.

I love this gym but the restrooms are so nasty! Third world country nasty!! There are no cleaners! No paper towels or toilet paper. Beware to catch a disease in the women’s restrooms!!

On another note, the staff at the front don’t realize that the music they play isn’t for them, it’s so loud in there that I can’t hear my music.
That’s why we are now at Athletica! They rerack their weights, it’s peaceful and quiet.

For new people joining. If you are looking to do classes I highly recommend HIIT classes with Maribel and Alyssa. They are amazing! Hot core and hot HITT on the weekends with Laura J. Any class with any of these 3 strong woman will be amazing and push your limits. I also tried HITT with Jeffrey this week and it was great!

Showers in woman bathrooms needs to be clean up better. Wall and floor tiles needs to be changed or deep clean, they don't look good. Other than than people working here, installation and equipment is good!

I drive 40 minutes total everyday just to come to this gym. That should tell you enough, but still, amazing, clean, super spacious, and their classes they provide are the best. Highly recommend.

This facility no longer meets my standards for cleanliness in the gym itself and the parking area. The facility is not maintained well and is constantly crowded/overcrowded. Gym rules to re-rack weights, not have large bags on the gym floor, and where to use additional equipment properly ae not enforced. the final straw was the constant prevalence of people recording themselves using phones on tripods, regardless of space available to do so safely. If you enjoy the packed, "show off", inconsiderate of others gym culture, this might be your perfect gym

This Crunch is by far the best so far since they've been crunchyfied by the owners, the open space for personal training, was a great touch! It's borderline great at any hour since it's so spacious, and has incredible machines for legs.

I went to this location to join and hear about discounts. My experience left me feeling scammed. One young lady gave me details on the memberships and also mentioned something called a kickoff. She then brought someone else over to me to explain what that is. I told this person I am not interested in anything other than finding a membership that works for me. She stated we can discuss further, they can take my body specs and this is $10. I told her I could come back next week to discuss this in details. I repeated numerous times to the first person that I do not like gyms because of scams and upsells. I chose to join of a 65 cent fee then one week free. I then get a $10 charge on my card for a kickoff I did not agree too. I called this morning and got the runaround of course. I then go in there to discuss and was sent to an extremely rude guy who expected me to give in detail the description of the person I was talking to. I explained I just want a refund because I did not agree to being charged, he can just cancel this so called appointment as I do not appreciate getting charged for something I didn't agree to. He immediately got defensive telling me he will check with his manager who was not there. I asked who can call the manager. He then states me getting an attitude isn't helping and I can wait for a manager. He's not dealing with my attitude. I then went to the front desk and waited, no one was at the desk. I then left. Moral to the story, there is no such thing as joining this gym with no commitment. They are fast talkers and scammers! I don't care about the $10 but I do care about being charged without my authorization and for services that hasn't even taken place.

If I could give 0 stars I would. They will try to scam you out of your money at any given opportunity. Please be careful with doing business with this gym. Especially if you choose to freeze your membership, they will attempt to charge your card the membership fee a whole month before your membership is supposed to unfreeze and then they won’t let you cancel your membership until you pay the outstanding balance you weren’t even supposed to be charged in the first place.

Great equipment. Horrible atmosphere.
Clearly the staff doesn’t care about the appearance of the gym and this transcends into the clientele. I’ve finalized multiple times to the front desk how messy and unkempt the lifting is, from not reracking weights, trash on the floor and wipes being out but it fell on deaf ears. This could be a fantastic gym but for myself (lifter for over 20 years & ran multiple fitness clubs) the way this gym presents is a reflection on how it’s run. I’ve been cleaning up the floor just bc I care about where I reside and I wish I could say the same for others. I’m only here until the plantation location is renovated, where I also said something to the gm in regard to having his staff do an hourly sweep of the floor, bc once members see the staff care, many times they follow. I’ve even seen trainers leave weights at both clubs. Crunch needs to either pay their staff more or instill better habits. This could be a wonderful place if it was better looked after

I’ve requested a day pass from the Crunch Sunrise location three different times over the past few weeks, but I was never able to go in person until today. When I finally showed up and explained the situation, the guy at the front desk was extremely rude and dismissive. I was just trying to clarify that this was my first actual visit, but he acted like I was doing something wrong and made me feel very unwelcome. It was a disappointing first impression, and it honestly made me lose interest in joining :(
