I’ve worked with several trainers over the years, but Victoria at Crunch Tampa Palms is truly in a league of her own. She strikes the perfect balance of being encouraging without ever feeling overbearing. What I appreciate most is her insight and intuition—if I struggle with an exercise, she doesn’t immediately let me tap out or switch to something easier. She pushes me through it in a way that feels supportive, not stressful. And if she sees that I genuinely can’t complete a movement, she always has smart, effective alternatives ready to go.

Victoria is professional, knowledgeable, and has the kind of personality that makes you actually look forward to your workouts. She has a real gift for training—this is more than just a job for her, and it shows. If you’re serious about bettering yourself, I cannot recommend her enough.

I’m honestly sad to be moving to North Carolina because I wish I could keep her as my trainer forever. If you get the chance to work with Victoria, take it. She’s incredible.

I called to ask about the saunas…they asked me my name and I told them I was hesitant about telling them because I didn’t want them to blow up my phone. I told them that if I didn’t have a sauna in my community center I would come. I asked the guy several times for them not to blow my phone up…

I have received a bunch of phone calls and texts. I asked them to remove my number from their list and all this is doing is making me not want a membership because they always say it’s the last day of a sale, but that’s literally what they say every time. I keep receiving texts even though the person who kept calling said she would remove me.

This is the same sale. Different days…sending me texts daily?? I really wanted to join, but I can’t be a member of a company that doesn’t see an issue in these types of sales tactics. It reminds me of insurance sales, and extended car warranties…no one likes these tactics guys…

This place is absolute trash, not worth even the $5 monthly! The employees are incredibly arrogant. If you don't have a toned, athletic body, they look at you with disdain! They're incredibly disrespectful! In two months of going to this gym, the shower hasn't worked once! Maybe it's okay for them to work out, go to the sauna, and not even shower afterward, but it's not okay for me! The benches in the sauna are covered in other people's sweat and look greasy! The last straw for me was when I came with my mom to go together. I paid $35 monthly to have that option! I booked a chair massage for myself, but my mom went instead of me, we took just one chair for one seance! The girl from front desk came, kicked her out of the chair, and wouldn't let her get a massage! The equipment always dirty! The floor with dust and someone’s hair! I really hope this review helps others, so no one ever gets a membership here! This is a terrible place, with terrible employees and management!

Refusal to Return ID - High-Pressure Sales by Reed!
My visit to Crunch Fitness as a guest was ruined by an employee named Reed. When checking in, I handed over my photo ID. However, when I was done with my workout and ready to leave, Reed refused to return my ID unless I agreed to sign up for a membership!
This is an absolutely unacceptable and high-pressure sales tactic. Holding a person's vital identification documents hostage to force a membership sign-up is unethical, unprofessional, and potentially illegal. My ID is my personal property, not leverage for a sale.
I had to firmly demand its immediate return multiple times before he finally gave it back. This felt incredibly manipulative and stressful. Management needs to address Reed's behavior immediately. If this is the desperation level they resort to, potential members should be warned.
I strongly recommend avoiding this gym until they stop holding guest identification hostage for sales pressure.

The gym is cool. I never had been to a commercial gym before this, but based off my location I decided to try Crunch. The membership fees don’t seem ridiculous to me, but I have the basic plan. I think there is a variety of equipment and you can usually find dead times that allow you to workout without having to wait for equipment. There are a few machines I did wish they had more of, but this location is about to do an expansion so they might get more soon. Overall, I think the gym is decent and the staff all seem nice for the most part.

This Crunch fitness is very scam likely. They have access to your cards and account information. Charge whatever they like when they feel like it. Call request to speak with a manager he’s busy doing something else. Tell the girl on the phone I don’t mind waiting on hold. She keeps asking can she help and she can’t help with nothing. Ask for corporate number it’s not a real number. I’ve moved away to a different state been trying to transfer or cancel this “non contact”membership. And they tell me I need to send in a letter to cancel when originally I signed up over the phone when I lived there. Even the Crunch I go to here hasn’t had any luck with getting it transferred. Now they done racked up all type of fees this month they’re saying I can’t cancel until past due amount is cleared. They have continued to try to charge my account 1 hundred plus dollars when my monthly bill is 34.00. I actually had to block them from my account it’s ridiculous. I wouldn’t recommend at all.

AVOID THIS GYM AT ALL COSTS!!! The $1 sign up is a total scam as they do not tell you what that fully encompasses. I read the documents throughly when signing up and they did NOT show half of the charges I am being charged. I’ve been a member for barely 2 months and already was charged with a $60 annual fee which I was not told about. Why is an annual fee even being charged within the first 2 months when that’s not even close to a year’s time- I’m basically still in the trail phase of this gym.. Then I call to cancel my membership due to health issues and they tell me I’m “not eligible to cancel yet”???? So I was told to go in person on the 11th (a few days after this convo on the phone) in order to “be eligible” to cancel my membership in person. So I went in person, signed the papers, asked if I would be charged again to which the answer was no. They said I was all set and would not be charged ever again but still have access to the gym till the 27th. However they charged me AGAIN 3 days later for next month. Now after reading the reviews this makes perfect sense as this seems to happen pretty frequently… money grabbing scam of a company. Is the company THAT low on funds that you need to make it impossible for members to cancel?! On top of this I once had an employee at the front desk ask me as I was scanning myself in that day if I had Facebook and if he could “show me something.” I thought he was going to show me their company account and maybe follow it. He proceeded to take my phone and publicly post a Crunch advertisement post on MY personal account. Just weird. I will be contacting my bank to dispute the unnecessary charges and telling anyone considering this gym to stay away.

Avoid this gym—it’s a total rip-off. Every year they automatically “upgrade” your membership and tack on extra charges. I had to visit the gym three separate times just to get the membership fixed and request a refund. Their excuse? My credit card had expired, so they claimed they couldn’t update the billing properly—yet somehow they kept charging me anyway.

When I asked for a refund (with paperwork in hand), they refused, saying they couldn’t process it because the charges were tied to an expired card. Ridiculous. They had no problem taking money from that card month after month, but suddenly couldn’t refund it.

The manager, Aaron, was sympathetic but admitted he had no authority over corporate decisions. In the end, I was forced to pay for another month (because of their 30-day notice policy) and canceled on the spot. I then went through my credit card company to dispute and reverse three months of overcharges, backed by the signed documents I had from months earlier.

Lesson learned—I’d rather pay a little more at LA Fitness, where at least the pricing is clear and predictable, without this kind of shady BS.

Really disappointed with Crunch Fitness. The men’s sauna has been broken for over a month now, and there’s still no ETA from the front desk on when it will be fixed. As a paying member, I expect access to all the amenities included in my membership, and the sauna is a big part of that. It feels like a rip-off to keep charging full price when key facilities aren’t available. Communication and accountability from management have been lacking. If you’re considering joining, keep this in mind.

It’s pretty clean and organized there. The environment is pretty nice. But I have to take off two stars because in the back where the most of squat racks are located there is a strange smell. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE with crunch fitness, They attract you by offing $1 joining fee, then its just like trapping fish, they will never tell you you that you have a three month contract, charges annual fee after a month of membership without providing any prior information to the customer, they invite you for the kick off session for personal training, Once you agree for the personal training they will make you sign a three month contract and evenif by the end of contract they will keep on charging your credit card by saying excuses like 10 day window period, 30 day notice for cancelling membership. They don't inform anything upfront and will keep charging your credit card. Its so hard to cancel the business with them and they will maniputate you by changing statements and misguiding informations. When you talk at the desk, they will tell you to talk to the personal trainer, when you try to talk to personal trainer, he will give some vague informations or will not respond, and will continue taking money from your credit card and you will be in a state of insane what to do further. They dont have any online option to cancel a business or membership with them nor they dont have any customer care service to contact. They will make you come to the store for communicating your needs then they deligates the tasks back and forth and makes you to struggle to cancel a business with them. In one word A BIG SCAM

I’ve been going to Crunch Fitness in Tampa Palms for over a year. It’s a pretty standard gym—basic equipment, nothing exceptional, but it gets the job done. Washrooms are clean, members wipe their benches and equipments are available for all.

What really disappointed me was the $21 “downgrade fee” they charged just to change my membership. It felt unnecessary and unfair, especially after being a loyal member for so long. There was no clear justification for the charge, and it left a bad impression.

If you’re considering joining, just be aware of these hidden fees—they don’t make it obvious upfront. Customer loyalty should be appreciated, not penalize

I’ve been coming to this location since it was a Gold’s gym back in the 90’s. It has never smelled as terrible as it does now in the ladies bathroom. It smells like backed up drain pipes all throughout the bathroom from every stall all the way to the showers. Not to mention the toilet seats never get wiped and the tile has never been changed. It’s especially surprising that Crunch invested so much money into a full expansion/renovation since they took over a few years ago but did not touch the bathrooms! It’s a shame how bathroom hygiene standards fall short post pandemic at such a high traffic place of business like a gym. Crunch needs to do better because I do love it here otherwise. I would love to give this gym five stars, but not until the bathrooms are appropriately addressed!

They have all the equipment in the right places and the staff is professional but the crowd here can be very unwelcoming. It’s mostly young USF students and some of the young women in particular give me dirty looks because I just happen to look in their direction. I’m not a tunnel vision type of guy. I’ve always been the type of person to kind of look around so sometimes I just happen to look at random people. It’s nothing personal towards them or anything inappropriate and I know it’s nothing that can be done about it so I’m probably going to switch to Lifetime where the crowd is a little more mature. I wish there were all men’s gyms because it’s so annoying.

Update: I tried the location on Hillsborough Avenue and the women are way nicer and way more mature. Didn’t get one death stare, screw face, or dirty look for just being human. Never going back to this location.

Convenient and decently equipped. Unfortunately, there is a newer room they moved the squat racks into and it has been getting muskier and muskier over time. The bars in there have been rusting and many of the sleeves don't rotate smoothly anymore. You can see the rust on the wipes when cleaning the bar. The stiff sleeves make olympic lifting pretty frustrating.

Best staff at any Crunch location I've ever been to. Aaron is by far the best manager and actually does phenomenal work by listening and solving concerns and answering questions thoroughly. Freddie is one of the most hands-on and accommodating trainers I've ever worked with. This team is well structured and makes me feel valued as a client. Every person at the front desk is a pleasure as well whether it's early or they're about to close. Highly recommend.

As a member of crunch, I've been to many different locations. This is the only location where the staff treated me like I was a non member even though I had the highest level membership. The front desk staff and personal training Freddie Williams confronted me when I tried bringing a guest who is a family member, who also happened to be a member at another location. I wasn't aware that I am not able to bring him in as a guest despite my membership being able to. Instead of being understanding, they kept reiterating that it is their "policy". When asked to show where in the policy that rule would've appeared, no one wanted to show me . Instead Freddie repeated told me to GET out ( even though I am a valid member). Most other gyms would've been understanding and made a one time exception but Freddie used his " manager" authority to basically made me feel like I was breaking the rule and kicking me out using horrible language. I felt so insulted and never want to go back again. Thank goodness my other crunch location in is always nice and friendly.

I definitely won't recommend this gym. First off be careful when they offer the $1 sign up! I was deceived. These people looked me directly in my face with a pretty smile and told me I could sign up for $1 and $20 would go to my friend for the referral and no commitment I can cancel whenever is what was told to me multiple times. When I arrive home I called my brother-in-law to tell him what I had done the first thing he told me was he was willing to bet me if I call back up there and try to cancel right now they would charge me so I did not even 2 hours after signing up my card has been charged $10 for a workout program that I repeatedly said I didn't want I spoke with the manager he told me it was nothing he can do and his staff would never lie or do anything such so I was forced to call the higher-ups just to find out I could cancel my membership within 72 hours

I’ve been working out with Crunch Fitness for a long time and have always appreciated the environment and equipment. Today, I brought a friend to the Tampa Palms location, excited to introduce him to the gym. Unfortunately, I had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever encountered.

A staff member named Sam refused to let me in because I have a basic membership with the Wesley Chapel branch—even though I was just trying to help my friend sign up. I explained that I live just two minutes away from the Wesley Chapel location and never use the Tampa Palms gym, but he still wouldn’t allow me access, even for one day.

I asked if I could get a one-day pass or if there was a way to accommodate my friend signing up on the spot, but was told my only option was to upgrade my membership and pay an extra $7 per month—for just one visit.

It’s frustrating and disappointing to be treated this way after being a loyal member for years. I hope Crunch Fitness reconsiders how they handle situations like this and empowers their staff to show a little more flexibility and understanding.

Absolutely love the atmosphere of the whole gym, Everyone is friendly, and welcoming! Especially the front manager Ben, he is very polite, and respectful guy, he helps with a lot people, and he is always willing to give out advice about the proper form, and it works tremendously! Crunch as a whole is fantastic. Lots of equipment and access to classes, information and trainers (albeit a little pushy in their sales) However this location is not ideal for someone like me for several reasons. The culture is very judgemental and codensening, this applies mostly the members, not staff. I've never felt this way in the Brandon or Wesley Chapel locations where those places are bigger and honestly cleaner.

Also, if you ever want to cancel, you would need to do it on the day your contract/file/account says you'd be billed (allegedly every 30 days) not when they actually bill you. Their billing is all over place and after my experience today it makes sense. In my experience they have never charged me on time, even accounting for past pending transactions, they've never pulled on time, it's always a few days to a week before or after. They will charge you additional month when you attempt to cancel and not when you are contracted to do so, it will be at the time of cancelling and tell you you can you use the gym for two more months and there's no cancellation fee 🙃 hopefully someone explains this you at the time of the transaction and not have to figure it out later like I did.
