Good gym lots of good equipment, edit: honestly really disappointing it is a good gym but canceling has been an absolute headache.I've called on three separate occasions after receiving monthly charges after I canceled and am reassured that no more charges would be made on the account. Every month for the past 3 months I get a surprise charge from this gym. Had to call my credit card and block the vender. I'm not sure why gyms or businesses.In particular, choose to go this route of just ignoring customer demands.I'm sure the fifty dollars is worth the bad review.What a joke.

This is the best gym around! Its honestly a hidden gem, 24/7 hours, turf area, glute room, posing room, saunas. You can’t beat it at this price. The gym is always clean and stocked up on paper towels and sanitizer sprays. The trainers and staff are all very friendly. Great and beautiful place to work out, no doubt. Everything is clean, tidy, and the staff are generally wonderful. Quite expensive for a gym — $42 a month — but hey, you can’t really put a price on your health.

However, be aware: the $100 cancellation fee is misleading. You’ll actually be charged your regular monthly fee on top of that ($42.79 in my case) because they require a 30-day notice. So expect to pay about $142+ to cancel, not $100. Read those fine print details before signing your wallet’s life away 😵‍💫

Also, staffed hours on Saturday are listed as 8 AM to 4 PM, but I waited an hour before anyone showed up. When staff finally arrived at 9, they claimed that was the correct time. Either fix the posted hours or stop gaslighting your customers.

In short — nice gym, but greedy, money-hungry policies. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Epic Health & Fitness has been mine and my wife’s primary gym now for a few years. It’s easily the best gym in the Saint Pete area. In the last year or so we weren't able to use it as much and we considered having to drop it. Late August her and I decided to go back again but cancel after our time was up. That’s where we met a new manager Viet. Viet has been paramount in explaining updated policy to us. He has been a great guy and employee each and every time we have come in.. it isn't a far reach to say he is one the of the main reasons we plan on staying at Epic longer. Is Epic Fitness already the best gym in the area? Yes. But with him there it’s nice to know there is someone friendly looking out for their customers, and because of this, we plan on staying.
Excellent gym and facilities.. excellent staff. I can’t say enough positive things about this place. And again, thank you Viet for taking the time to help us out. We will continue staying members for a while now 💪🏼

Gym is fine but do NOT trust the app for unstaffed entrance. Just spent 10 minutes trying to get in the gym on a Sunday afternoon to no avail.

REPLY TO OWNER'S RESPONSE: Not accurate. There is no reset or refresh in the app - it displays a QR code that is scanned by the reader. Your staff even warned me when I signed up that the reader was finicky and you should hold your phone a certain way and a few inches from the reader - which I did and still could not access the gym. As I said, your gym is fine, better than that really. Clean, good equipment and not too crowded. My review is based on the questionable premise that you can access the facility whenever you want. And trying to say that this was "user error" rather than a problem with your third party software is a way to not address the actual problem. I probably would have changed my review if you had simply acknowledged that reality. But I will stand by that and let the Google community decide for themselves.

I'm very disappointed, but I'm finding another gym. Epic has excellent equipment and staff and I truly enjoyed working out there.

However, on Saturday, I went in at what was supposed to be staffed hours to sign my wife up, but no one was there. I called, left a message, and also left a written message. I did not receive a return call, so I went back on Sunday, this time without my wife because she was at work. I was told I could not sign her up and receive any promotions because she was not present. This made no sense, because I could sign her up online. I spoke to a member of management and advised him that I wanted to sign my wife up, and we had followed all the rules, including adhering to the posted staffing hours, her accompanying me in on the previous day. However, I was the one being inconvenienced because they failed to ensure an employee was on the property for member sign up.

Admittedly, I was upset and frustrated about the issue; however, I did not curse, yell at, or insult the member of management. When I pointed out I was there at 330 PM, and the door signage and website showed the gym was staffed until 4, I received a condescending "I know what the hours are". I stated that if I couldn't sign my spouse up today (she is unable to go back during staffed hours for another week), I would find another gym. I was not allowed to sign up my wife, and was told to go to another gym.

I am sure the reply to this comment will say something to the the effect of "You were advised that anything could be fixed, and management was to solve the problem," however, at no point did the manager ever suggest anything to correct the issues. The ONLY thing I wanted was to sign my wife up and provide them with another membership. I did not request additional compensation or consideration. I guess they do not need my business as they lost two members instead of one.

REPLY TO MANAGEMENT:

Thank you for waiting until I replied to reach out. Does that mean you would not have contacted me at all if I had not posted my frustrations? Please advise on the membership will be handled; will the remainder of the month be prorated or will I continue to have access thru the end of the billing cycle?

I am not going to engage with with you in a public forum, but I will respond to the points you brought up;

1. Your idea of being berated vs an upset customer, who legitimately upset, and who followed your business guidelines, is somewhat confusing. The only thing I asked for was to be able to sign my spouse up. And you are correct, I did state it was your choice. All you had to do was advise the person staffing the desk to please allow the new member sign up.

2. Your implication that I am somehow complicit to this by allowing my spouse to remain in the gym and workout is ridiculous. We were there to sign up, during a time your business should have been staffed. I am well aware your business is video recorded, I called left VM and also left a note, so it was not like I was trying to keep it a secret. What would you have had me do, have here sit in the car or take her home. But for your business not following its own staffing rules, I would not have been forced to make the decision.

3. Thank you for your parenting advice regarding how to deal with people, however, I noticed you did not provide a specific example of how I belittled, insult you or berated you or your staff other than to say it was your choice as to what to do. Per my original post I did not curse, yell, insult or verbally attack you or your staff member. If being upset and venting at being penalized for following your companies protocols qualifies, then I guess I am guilty.

4. Bringing up your family was entirely uncalled for. As I did not use foul language or personally insult anyone, the fact had no bearing on the matter, it was simply an attempt by to vilify me and negate my complaint. Also, the fact it was a Sunday afternoon is irrelevant, it the benefits of a management position within a customer service facing business are balanced with this type of responsibility.

The staff.. Viet and Dan specifically are guys you can tell really pour their heart and soul into the place and the atmosphere reflects that. Very courteous and professional people that care about the gym and it's members.

Signing up was easy, but canceling was a hassle. I had to go in person to cancel my membership. When I asked why I’d still be charged for another month despite canceling before the next billing cycle, a short, blonde-haired male employee sitting in the corner replied, ‘Like any gym, we bill in 30-day cycles.’ I requested a cancellation confirmation, but they refused to provide one, saying I’d receive an email in a few days instead. However, as soon as I left the gym, my account was charged for the next month. It shouldn’t be such an ordeal to cancel a membership. Avoid this gym.

This gym has a small gym feel where many members know other members. The equipment is mostly available during peak times. If you're joining for the classes, please reconsider joining. New management requires that at least 3 people sign up or the class will be canceled. This was never a problem but now the classes aren't well attended so my $55 a month membership is no longer worth it so I gave my 30 day notice. During my 30 day notice, they billed me for another 30 days which is fine except they cancel your membership and don't give a credit. I recommend that the front desk recommends members cancel to coincide with their payment schedule so people aren't cheated out of their paid membership. Off to Crunch where there is no issue and memberships are 50% less. I didn't mind paying more because I enjoyed the instructors and became friends with the people in the class but the classes are dwindling.

I have been gym hopping for years trying to find a gym that fits my needs with a great atmosphere. Epic Health and Fitness is above all the rest from the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility to the machines and equipment. The staff/members along with the atmosphere is great for whatever fitness goals you are trying to achieve.. This gym has been taken over by new ownership recently whom has great knowledge of the fitness industry and culture. I think I found my home at Epic Health and Fitness. I highly recommended!

One word can describe my experience, Exceptional!! I do a lot of traveling up and down Florida for business and finding a gym to catch a work out in can be difficult . I finally discovered Epic after trying out all the other big box gyms and smaller outfits. From the quality of the equipment to the staff to the ability to get a workout in without having to fight for a machine it’s truly a great experience. Iv been to so many gyms where the front desk staff is rude and don’t value your business and to come to Epic and really feel valued for choosing there gym is a breath of fresh air. If you’re in the area check it out.

The employees are nice but cancelling is a big pain. I came into the gym to cancel as they can't cancel over the phone. I injured my back as a result of training, which is a scam for the prices they offer here. Not to mention the trainer I had was inexperienced in comparison to the other trainers, and had said some weirdly sexual things to me during training. After the initial visit to cancel, the employees didn't even cancel my membership until I had to come in a second time after. Initially they had promised that the manager would call me the next day as I also wanted a refund. The manager didn't call me the next day, and when I had called the gym in regards to the cancellation they said they couldn't refund me but didn't even give me a reason why! I asked them to have the manager to call me the next day and that did not happen either. A week of silence and I had to go in the following week to get my contracts fully canceled! I went in a second time, and got my membership canceled. Mind you theres a cancelation fee which is extremely ridiculous. The manager finally emailed me the next day and after a long thread ultimately told me I could not get a refund despite not receiving services for the refund. Talk about a lack of customer service. I would definitely go elsewhere to get a gym membership as this place seems to be a money grab. Not to mention, the 30 day nutrition and fitness plan that comes with the membership is not free. They just want to sell you personal training.

The gym itself is okay, lots of equipment. But I feel like for the price you can find bigger gyms, with the same equipment, for a lower price. As well as personal training thats cheaper, with people that care and aren't creepy.

Overall this is a pretty dope gym 👍🏽 there’s some great equipment they have that most gyms don’t & the posing room is a very good addition if you compete.

Definitely needs to add in a seated machine pullover, aside from that, the air conditioning & the huge fans in there made it very hard to keep the muscles warm/mind muscle connection/blood flow, but no complaints other than that.

Very nice staff, not too busy and open 24 hours made it convenient 👌🏽

I recently moved to the area from out of state and have been trying to find my “home” gym. I’ve been around to A LOT gyms, and couldn’t seem to find one that fit my needs, until I stumbled upon this gem. I love the overall vibe of this place—the variety of equipment (hello leg day lol), the spacious set up, and the friendly staff and members. Highly recommend!

Yaser is the man for personal training. He will push you farther than you could imagine. This gym is an overall good environment. Staff is friendly and welcoming as well as other gym goers. Machines work good, are new and I never have an issue getting to what I want.
