I have been a member at EQUINOX SOUTH BEACH, but unfortunately, my experience in the steam room was deeply disappointing and uncomfortable. I witnessed a man recording people who were undressed and only wrapped in towels. This behavior is not only inappropriate but also a serious violation of privacy.
I promptly raised this issue with management via email, hoping for swift action. However, despite my complaint, the situation was not handled to my satisfaction, and I did not feel safe or respected within the facility.
Due to this disturbing incident and the lack of adequate response, I have decided to leave EQUINOX SOUTH BEACH. Privacy and respect should be fundamental in any wellness facility, and I urge the management to take this matter seriously to ensure the safety and comfort of all members.

Honestly, over priced for what you are getting. The staff is friendly and it’s always pretty clean.

I had an issue the other day and this is the reason why I’m writing this review today.

I got my scooter stolen from downstairs inside the building. It was locked up by the stairs. I always leave it there and so do others. I notified the front desk as to what happened and I asked to see their cameras. Apparently they don’t have cameras…… $200/m and they don’t have cameras….or they must be for decoration. I filled out a report with them to have someone from management give me a call and never heard from them. They clearly don’t give a shit.

So if you’re a current member or thinking about joining this gym - do not bring your bike or scooter. Walk or drive.

Luckily I had a tracker on it and was able to get the scooter back a few days later with the help of the police. Zero help from my “luxury” overpriced gym.

The lady at front desk had 0% etiquette or welcoming energy, had no smile and was very difficult to communicate with, didnt even say "hi my name is xyz, what can we help you with today?". The whole front of house staff, minus the salesmen in the office all the way on the right - who dint need to even help, was like walking zombies, overly clean but not welcoming energy at all.

Visited Equinox yesterday on a visitor pass, and I was really impressed. The club is absolutely spotless, stylish, and has such a chic atmosphere. I took the “Ropes and Rows” workout, which was intense in the best way possible. The instructor was both knowledgeable and incredibly kind, making the class engaging and motivating. The entire space feels modern and well-maintained, and the staff were all friendly and welcoming. Definitely a top-tier fitness experience - I loved both the premises and the people.

Equinox South Beach consistently fails to deliver on what they promise. This is the second time I’ve had issues trying to receive a gift card from a referral—and once again, I’m being completely ignored. They don’t respond to texts, they don’t call back, and there’s always some excuse. For a gym that markets itself as high-end, the customer service is anything but. Very disappointing experience one more time, I never had this problem with Equinox in New York City or California.

I've been a member here for almost a year and have taken several classes, but I have to give a special shoutout to PJ Venturino. His boxing classes on Monday and Friday, as well as MetCon3 on Saturday, are always top-notch. PJ brings incredible energy and inspiration to every session, and I always leave feeling pumped and full of energy. Thank you for making my workouts amazing!

Wow what super aggressive and unpleasant staff they have at this location. I will truly never become a member of an Equinox gym after the experience I had at this location. After receiving a free one-day complimentary pass from The Balfour Hotel, I arrived for my free workout, went through the lengthy check in process. "Ok, enjoy your workout."

Then, as I'm walking to the workout area: "Oh, actually, I forgot. You have to have a meeting with a membership coordinator before you can work out. Is that okay with you?"

"It doesn't sound like I have a choice."

"It can be as long as you like. 5 seconds or 30 minutes."

So I meet the coordinator, shake his hand, say "thank you" and go to my workout. That's what they told me.

He then follows me through the gym and becomes confrontational. "Actually this is a thing we're doing with the hotel and you have to meet with me."

"Well, I'm just here for my complimentary workout, why are you wasting my time?"

"Well we want to find out whether you're a member and whether you're interested in becoming a member."

"I'm not, and I'm not currently interested. I'm here for the gym pass included with my hotel stay. So why are you wasting my time?"

"I'm sorry, that's not OK. I'm going to ask you to leave the gym now," he states aggressively. He then escorts me out.

Are you serious? What kind of impression do you think this leaves on me as a potential customer, and as a guest of the hotel? Is this the typical level or respect for my time and presence I can expect from Equinox gyms? Because if it is, I am pretty much decided right now that I will never set foot in one ever again, especially not the fancy ones typically located near the locations I stay at.

Talk about bait and switch, misleading communication, and aggressive sales tactics. No better than a timeshare. Absolutely ridiculous. A bad impression made by a business like that is difficult to ever forget. I've already paid for my hotel room including complimentary gym access. I don't expect to have to pay again with my time by being forced to sit through a membership sales pitch.

I had a big surprise last week when I visited Equinox South Beach after booking an introductory swimming class. They sent me two messages on the same day to confirm the time and attendance, which I thought was great, and I replied yes.

When I arrived at reception, I mentioned again that I was there for a free class to try out the swimming pool, and they confirmed my name. I was greeted, taken to an office box, and asked all sorts of questions about why and for what reason I wanted to take classes, what my training goals were, and so on — which is to be expected at any gym in Miami. But then they proceeded to show me all the facilities, which I went along with because the class was free, and I figured it was part of the marketing.

We went back to the office, and I asked where the pool was. That’s when they told me that they didn’t have a pool but that they do have one in Brickell. So, I spent almost 50 minutes over there, with no class, no pool, just listening to offers and hearing about how “great” it would be to switch gyms to get better results, and so on. False advertising, and honestly, I can’t believe they weren’t upfront from the start and just wasted my time. I will not sign up for that gym or any Equinox gym. I can’t tolerate false advertising.

**Caution Advised**

While the facilities at this gym are decent, my personal experience has led me to advise caution. I would not sign a contract with them, as the treatment I received was detrimental to both my physical and mental well-being. The staff's response to issues was consistently disappointing. For the hassle involved, there are better options available in Miami Beach. If you truly value your physical and mental health, I would recommend exploring other gyms.

Parking at this location can be confusing due to lack of signage and you may mistaken to park in the neighboring building garage. This resulted in an unexpected $20-30 parking fee for me.

The facility itself feels outdated. However, the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my visit.

I received a 50-minute massage, but unfortunately, it wasn't the best I've experienced. In comparison to massages I've had in Brickell, this one was disappointing and even left me with a headache. I will be sticking with Brickell for future massages.

To be completely transparent, and I think the founder of equinox knows this as well. The only reason why this location has four stars is because almost all Florida equinox locations are on the highest caliber of mediocre. The cleanliness of the gym is far from where it needs to be. The locker rooms are far from clean. In my honest opinion, if you’re coming here for the equinox experience, definitely do not come to the location in Aventura nor South Beach. Renovations are definitely needed. And the locks on the lockers are necessary.

Please, do yourself a favor and do not sign up for equinox south beach. It is one of the oldest equinox gyms that they have in their portfolio and is outdated beyond belief. twice in a span of a couple weeks, did we receive an email saying to use other facilities because the AC is broken. Not to mention that they have equipment that has been broken since i signed up in November of last year. I have been to other equinox gyms that merit the name of “equinox” this gym feels like a discount version of a discount gym. I have spoken to staff at two locations and they have both said that south beach does not merit to have the equinox badge as the quality and environment is bad. Not to mention the parking attendant finds pleasure in making sure every interaction you have with him is miserable. I signed up without visiting the location which in hindsight was a mistake but i was used to the high quality experience of equinox and thought this would be the same! I asked to cancel and they won’t allow it. Do Bot make the mistake i made and do not give them your money. Lifetime and any other gym is a better use of your money than equinox south gym! Shame on equinox for making their members put up with this! Let me Cancel my membership!

30USD pro Person für einen Daypass, es ist halt Miami. Und Equinox ist eben schon ein Highend Studio. Sauberkeit, Atmosphäre und die Leute die dort trainieren, man riecht das Geld förmlich.

Falls Ihr euch so ein Daypass ersparen wollt, weil Ihr öfters ein Gym aufsucht, geht nicht unweit von dort, zum kostenfreien und berühmten Miami Muscle Beach-South Beach.
Outdoor Beach Gym mit super nette Menschen, viele Calisthenic Leute die dort Trainieren und kostenfreie gewichte, alles ist umsonst zum Trainieren verfügbar. Und ein unbezahlbarer Vibe direkt an der Oceans front

Staff is super friendly and helpful. Made an exception and loaned me a lock. Some of the same instructors as the other gyms so that is good. Comfortable lounge area. Wasn’t packed at 6pm on a Thursday.

Missing basic amenities though. You have to bring your own lock unlike the other 3 Equinox gyms in the area. They don’t have water fountains to refill your water bottle. Would be nice if they listed the floor of the gym and how to park in the Equinox app or website. You only get 2 hrs of validated parking unlike the 3 hours with the other 3 Equinox Florida gyms. There is a “no guns” sign when you walk in - should I be concerned and alarmed about having to post that sort of notice?

Hands down the best gym I have ever been at, I used to bounce back between Brickell and South Beach location. Very special place, spacious, best equipment and hospitality with juice bar. Higher management Mariana Leon at South beach is so friendly and helpful. She sets the bar so high that is why the rest of the staff are so friendly and nice every time I would make a visit. This is a bright and convenient Equinox. Spacious on second floor of new building. No digital locks on lockers but they’ll loan you a padlock and key. Big Juice bar never seems open. The street entrance is a bit challenging to find first time though. It’s a sliver of doorway in the middle of the block. The accessible entrance is around the corner.

I honestly cannot say enough positive things about South Beach’s Equinox Fitness! (And no, I do not work there.) First of all, the gym staff is obsessive-compulsive about cleanliness —you will constantly see the staff cleaning the equipment as well as the floor, televisions and towels, windows, etc. I have NEVER seen such attention to detail (at least in a gym). Second, the staff is INCREDIBLY friendly AND educated when it comes to training and dieting. Third, they are constantly seeking to improve their approach to customer service as well as the overall gym experience. But, for me, what sold me on becoming a member was the down-to-earth personalities of the staff and sincere interest they demonstrated when communicating with members (myself included, obviously). I guess one could say “for $166/month, of course they’re going to be nice” —but the quality of people and their character/personality truly did not seem fake to me. Like anyone, they have their own bills to pay and lives to live, sure, but what was different about this staff is that they were their own family, who also made it a point to make their members a part of their family. And it really didn’t seem fake! So, what am I saying? What I’m saying is that if you’re looking for a gym that has it all plus is super clean, then Equinox is for you. But if you are looking for the aforementioned plus a great group of people who seek to become your friends, then Equinox will become a part of you. Now, honestly, how many businesses do we know of that endeavor to do this...?

As a basis for signing up, I was guaranteed I could freeze as often as I needed. I have a disability and I was promised they would accommodate without any issue. Now when I come to request they keep their promise all they say is “sorry you’re having a hard time” and keep repeating themselves like robots. Do not believe what is promised to you, they’ll say anything to get someone to sign up.

El Gym me parece bueno, normal pero la atención administrativa por parte de la encargada Carla me parece muy mala la verdad tuve varios momentos desagradables y de mal entendidos y tratos poco agradables con ella incluso ovacionándome inconvenientes antes de entrenar.
Anotarme en ese gym creo que fue mi peor elección y no lo recomiendo.
A nivel equipo hay sólo una prensa, mucha gente que se queda horas en las máquinas haciendo fotos y videos.
No hay interés de de ayudar a los clientes.
Mi única experiencia buena creo que fue con Inés que siempre tuvo buena predisposición.
Lo último que me pasó fue el haber puesto en un congelamiento en mi cuenta desde marzo, luego lo di de baja por la app en junio. Y en este mes recibo el cobro de tres meses. Estoy de reposo médico desde junio y la encargada Carla pasó los cobros igual incluso con los certificados médicos enviados diciéndome que diera por perdido el dinero y que no me podría ayudar. La verdad esperaba una atención mejor. También quiero agregar que solicité que la misma me derivara a otra persona para gestionar mi caso y pedir la ayuda y la misma no lo quizo hacer por eso me quejo por este medio así por lo menos puedo ayudar a otros a no cometer mi mismo error.

Parking and access are nice but this is the last of the FL locations I would choose to visit. It’s quite outdated and dirty for an Equinox and its location keeps it always packed. The locker rooms are definitely not up to the Equinox standards and are quite dirty and smelly. When I went, It very much reminded me of the smell, cleanliness, and crowd of a Planet Fitness. 🤮

Buyer Beware! I was on vacation for 1 week and wanted to work out at this due to convenience. The best package I was offered was 3 month/ $199, which I agreed to. Two weeks later, home in NJ, I see another charge on my credit card for another $191! I called to find out what was going on, and was told I had signed a year long membership for almost $200/ month. I was shocked because the girl who had given me the original 3 month offer (Ines) knew I was there for only 1 week and she even had my NJ gym membership Information. A pure bait and switch. I then proceeded to try to speak with the general manager, Aubrey Hoffman, who told she couldn't refund my $191 because I didn't request it early enough!?!? What?? I requested as soon as I saw the charge which was still March! They had already billed me for April in mid March. Just crazy. Basically just crooks who are trying to have me pay almost $400 for 1 week of working out. Terrible management and even worse, just terrible people. Beware.

Despite pausing my membership due to COVID, I’m shocked that equinox would unilaterally begin charging its members without notifying them during a time like this. When calling to find out why I had been charged the corporate team told me “everyone in corporate has been fired, there’s nothing we can do.” And the local managers took weeks to respond before saying they can’t do anything. Coming from a Manhattan Equinox, I had high expectations. Unfortunately due to COVID and experiences at this location, I must give it a below satisfactory review.

Good: The location is perfect. Parking is not free but most places in SoBe is this way. The equipment is good and the gym is clean. I was always greeted when I came into the gym. Extremely personable staff and trainers. Never had an issue with someone being rude or anything.

Not so good: Personal training honestly depends on your trainer. I did the $1450/month package with a Tier 3 PT. I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. I have a very relaxed personality and sometimes it gives wave for people to slack on their jobs. The PT kept making promises about my program and just never held up his end of the bargain. I never received a nutrition plan, never was told what I should be doing on "non training days". Felt like I was doing pretty much everything on my own. The PT also had an injury that made a few things more complicated (ie. demonstrating exercises, etc.).

Overall, this gym is an equinox brand and it does hold true to that. It's an awesome place to work out solo! I ended up switching locations and trainers to better suit my fitness needs/goals.

Hello, I am a member of a south beach location. Yesterday I booked a class for 12.15 Today I was not able to go to the club, because I have an iPhone 5 which does not have the option to download the equinox app. I tried to talk to the manager and even though i am in the system and have a clicker- he did not let me in! So my concern is, if members of equinox do not have new phones or do not have phones at all can not walk into the club anymore? What kind of service is it, for the amount of money we pay monthly? My day was ruined, I never expected to be treated this way. He also said in order to come back to the club I needed to buy a new phone, really? To go to the gym I need to buy a new phone? Thank you.

I am in town for one day in Miami I attempted to use this facility and they will only sell me a three day pass for $150. I asked the girl why I could not just visit one day I only was here for the night. She said they do not want riffraff coming in and out of the gym? If I pay the $50 fee I am Rf if I pay 150 for a three day pass I am not ???

Wow, In town for Super Bowl activities. Looking for a decent gym for one or two day training. Was referred to here by reputable member. Have to spend $150 in their store to get a 3 day pass.
So not worth the money. Do yourself a favor and go to a real gym. DONT GO HERE!

The fact that I have been an Equinox member for almost 16 years is testament to a great ongoing experience. The endless windows shred a wonderful light on Equinox South Beach. It’s always super clean, has the latest equipment and most of all the staff and management excel in customer service. They’re always friendly and accommodating. Awful costumer service. Will promise you anything to sell you a membership. However they just want you to get you to sign a contract then refuse anything they say after. Manager said they couldn’t help eventhough they charge me 3 extra months not used that were not supposed to be charged. I ended up without my money back and without the months promised by manager and sales person to be given back. They literally stole my money . I am very upset

Have been a member for over 2 years. In that time the club has really improved. Yo, the club manager came on board and has really turned the place around. He’s also been super helpful for any issues that I have ever needed. The staff is very nice, zero attitude, talk to Morris if you want to join He’s great! The other gym members aren’t that friendly but hey you should be used to it, this is Miami.
-About the gym- It’s not the biggest, or newest Equinox in the brand but it is a good gym to get in a good workout. (Let me be clear, This is a GYM, not a spa vacation spot.) You WILL FEEL like working out here. For a luxury fitness experience, exceptionally clean place, with parking included (HUGE deal) without an off the wall ridiculous price & in the heart of South Beach. This is as good as it gets.

South Beach Equinox is simply the best.
My wife, Trisha, and I, have been Equinox addicts for a long time. We were lucky to find our first Equinox when we lived in New York in the mid-90s on the West Side. We lived in the East 50s and had to go crosstown to work out, which will tell you how good the club was :-)
After Harvey Spevak came on in the late '90s, we met him, and we knew the Equinox brand could only get better. We had no idea of how much better!

Harvey told us early on that he had this idea for 'high performance lifestyles,' and that is what Equinox became, each club with its own individual character and spirit, but all seamlessly delivering that same vision.

Trisha and I travel a lot as writers, so being in a city with an Equinox helps us start our day with some energy. However, we must admit to a personal bias for our current favorite club. Equinox South Beach. We have a home not far away, but rest assured that if we did not think the club was super, it would not matter how close it was to where we lived. Equinox South Beach pulls together the Equinox brand to perfection, while at the same time giving it a different (South Beach) point of view. It has a great, eclectic and interesting roster of members. With heavy emphasis with people in the arts and technology, it reflects the international flavor of Miami as the crossroads to the rest of the world.

Those of you who are familiar with Equinox already know the equipment is super and the layout works easily. What you might not know is that this club is not that large but it has an intimacy that works so very well since the people who work there are some of the best Trish and I have come across. We have been members here, as our primary club, since it opened 10 years ago. It has been fortunate to have a very good series of managers and regional directors. Yo, the current manager, is the best of the group. It helps give the club its edge, it has energy and momentum. You might be working out at club one block from the beach and the Atlantic Ocean, but it has an urban vibe that sets it apart from other South Florida clubs. That is exactly the type of 'differentiated point of view' Harvey Spevak spoke about years ago. Nice.

I've been a member of SoBe location since December of 2017, and it's been great! Convenient location, lots of classes to choose from, and friendly atmosphere. Furthermore, the place is very clean, which is extremely important. Yo Abecassis, the manager, is fantastic; he is always there for you if you have any issues to take care of, responding to email inquiries on time. Overall, I am happy with the gym!

I've been a member since fall of 2016. Equinox is super clean and well-maintained. I wouldn't suggest you eat off the floor, but you could! On the rare occasion a machine is out of order it is up and running the very next day. Staff is courteous, trainers are excellent, and customers are really very pleasant to each other. It has a nice, community feel. Great place to work out and to network.

My experience in gyms is quite extensive. In fact i frequent gyms for over 20 years and the most prestigious in Paris.
Being a member of equinox is a great privilege for me because even if the monthly subscription is really inexpensive,i have the chance to be in a high class environment.During these two last years i was able to flourish in this club.I met a staff of high quality . first at the reception, sport coachs especially Jaren who taught me to respect my body while achieving my goals.i was impressed how the staff in charge of the household are wonderful (Clara)because having seen them every day at work giving us a cleanliness and hygiene without limit.But what makes all the difference for me, apart for the material forefront, is the diversity of group lessons, all equally interesting.To summarize,i love the passion that equinox staff puts into their daily work so that our experience is unique and beautiful. My daughter and I have bonded since we both became members at Equinox South Beach. The gym is by far the most complete fitness center that I have belonged to. The staff is friendly and the instructors are always there to lend a hand or answer any question you may have.
