Wont be re-joining. Pool is now used for a camp. The sauna is dirty and doesn't reach high temperatures due to some irresponsible teens. The hot tub is still broken over 3 months. 05/10/2024. 05/21/2024 hot tub still broken. 11/19/2024 broken again. All swim lanes are taken half for camp 6pm. Can never swim. I pay my membership annually and they start asking me to pay my ANNUAL FEE a few months in advance every single year. Instead of appreciating customers who keep their membership paid up on time, they love to harass you weeks and weeks in advance to pay early so I make sure to renew at another location and to wait until a couple of days before it is due. I don't reward bad behavior with early payment. When this was the main location where I worked out they never cared to fix anything or get back to you when there was a problem. LA Fitness/Esporta has really gone down hill and the corporation is starting to cut hours as some locations recently. The locations that were staying open in Tampa Bay until Midnight M-TH are now closing at 11 PM. That happened 3 weeks ago at least and they still haven't bothered to update this on Chrome. They had already cut weekend closing times months ago. Consider all your options when picking a gym.

The racquetball courts are amazing. There are 3 in great shape. I used to go to the YMCA downtown to play but the closed 2 of 3 courts and the 3rd is a dumpster they dont take care of.

Chris is a fantastic personal trainer. Gym needs a deep clean and equipment needs updating. The hours of operation are inconvenient. I would consider the above before joining but if it works for you have at it. The gym is a three star gym. Chris earned the 4th for me on a personal level. The owner should be grateful to have him. I had to cancel my membership and pay out of my contract because it wasn’t right for me.

Esporta Fitness Palm Harbor on US HWY 19 has some fantastic offerings in the gym space. Pete, one of the account managers, was exactly what I would expect from a great sales person. He didn't try to sell me a membership I didn't want or need. He gave me all the options, and we chose the best one for my needs.

Walter was extremely helpful, and as a training manager, he did the same as Pete he showed me all the options, and we got my plan set up for exactly what I needed no more, no less.

Esporta Fitness (LA Fitness) is a better place because they have these two guys working here.

The gym and its amenities are awesome! Kid care for my toddler, and the pool and basketball courts are an outstanding addition to this gym!

The trainers are fantastic!!

All in all, I love this gym. So it gets five stars for having everything I need to get in shape and stay in shape and for having great people and great customer service!

The only thing I would say that needs improvement are a few cosmetics things in the restrooms, and the equipment is outdated and rusty. This overtime could cause issues in the future and should probably be addressed sooner rather than later.

Barring that Five Stars across the board.

This place needs more than a thorough cleaning . It needs a total face-lift . The machines are old and Rusty so is the dead weight equipment. Many don't even work. The locker room is disgusting and the sauna is even worse. The benches look like they haven't been pressure washed in years. And the tile on the floor in the sauna is buckling. I will start with the positives, they have a great location, aqua fit and some of the other classes are fabulous. The front staff are friendly
The feedback I have is that they don't have good hours. On a vacation day, they change the times to 8am, it should be 24 hours like some of the other gyms close by.
They use to offer more classes and they stopped. The location in Dunedin has way more classes. The gym is old , the machines are broken and not enough. The bathrooms are not clean. The gym instructors sit around and gossip about which “lady” is hot and which is not.. quite unprofessional.

Overall, this place needs a facelift with some better operations to keep members happy. Members have a choice for a gym and they forget that.

I have been coming here for over 14 years. I have worked at multiple gyms as a manager, including LA Fitness. Shannon the Operations Manager now DIstrict Manager has run this place into the ground. She resolves nothing and does nothing but sit in front of a computer. She never says Hi. So many people have complained without resolution. It's impossible to get a hold of anyone above her. Member Services says someone will call you back and no one does. Her own staff complains about her. She has allowed underage kids with no memberships to come in start fights and take over the gym. She doesn't stop the kids from taking video and photography in the bathroom, which is against policy and the law. Fecal comes up from the drain in the sauna. The hot tub is foamy and has brown sludge. I have gotten skin infections. The pool has been pooped and peed in from the swim school. The carpet is disgusting and equipment is rusted. I was recently approached and assaulted by a young man, when I was on the leg machine. I reported it to the desk girl, who then confirmed that I was assaulted. When leaving and getting my stuff I was assaulted multiple times in the locker room. The next day Shannon called with no apology or to ask if I was ok. She tells me I should have left the gym without getting my belongings. I informed her that's illegal and I have the right to obtain my property safely . She basically told me, it was my fault I tried to get my stuff after being assaulted. She then continued to lie and accuse me. She finally said she can cancel my membership for any reason and did. It's horrible the way others and myself are treated. Please report this place to the Better Business Bureau, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Attorney General, and other agencies.

I've been going to this gym for a while now. It is ok, but very outdated. A few of my pet peeves are the bathroom. Always very warn and extreme smell of chlorine because it's is close to the pool. The machines are often unavailable because people sit there looking at their phones, oblivious to others. The A/C is barely noticeable, it's really warm in the main gym. The classrooms are ridiculously warm. Time to update this place 👍

This place is a joke. Very discourteous patrons and many Bullies, especially during peak Hours. People will occupy machines for 20 or 30 minutes straight. The Gym rules say 5 minutes maximum per machine. LaFitness refuses to publish the Gym guidlines and put them on the walls in a poster sign.
I have been threatened by other patrons for using an unoccupoed machine. Half way through my set, many times, someone came up and said "I'm using that machine". I have been threatened for using an unoccupied machine that was supposedly being used by someone that was away and nowhere in sight of the machine for "using" their machine. Please note it is a FELONY in Florida to threaten or assault a senior. I believe that LaFitness could be held legally liable for threats and harm done to victim patrons by Gym Bullies (psychological and physical).

DO SOMETHING LAFITNESS ABOUT GYM BULLIES.
POTENTIAL MEMBERS BEWARE OF THIS SITUATION. THE GYM ATMOSPHERE IS UNTENABLE DUE TO LAFITNESS UNRESPONSIVENESS TO CURB THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS THREATENING BEHAVIOR BY GYM BULLIES.

This is the cleanest and most organized gym I have ever been to! Amazing in fact. I paid for a day membership cause visiting but this would be my go to club if I was anywhere in the area. Do not join this gym or purchase personal training services. I unfortunately did both of those things under the impression that I’d be able to easily cancel as I had plans to move in the near future. Unfortunately I was lied to and it is IMPOSSIBLE to cancel despite being told I would only need to provide proof of relocation. Apparently they don’t allow you to cancel for ANY reason actually, and you have to pay a ridiculous fee to cancel. I was told NUMEROUS times that I would just need to provide relocation proof, and made it clear from the beginning that I had these plans. Had I not been lied to, I 100% would not have signed up and therefore would not be responsible to pay THOUSANDS of dollars to get this cancelled. I feel stupid for not reading the fine print and trusting that the staff would put me above their own self interest, but they don’t care about you and ONLY care about taking your money. Huge bummer that businesses with such SHADY businesses practices like this (lying just to get sales) are still able to operate. They’ll take advantage of you and your money. Stay clear even just out of principle. Businesses like this need to fail, and their staff need to held accountable for their lies. You can count that I will never give another dime to this brand or the LA Fitness brand.

I have been a member at this gym for over a year and the main reason I joined this gym was for the sauna but unfortunately someone passed out in sauna. As a result this facility chose to drop sauna to 178 degrees from its previous 220 degrees permanently. Dry saunas need to be hotter to receive the benefits. If someone falls off treadmill for going to fast are you going to put limits on all the treadmills ? I will be cancelling this membership and highly recommended avoiding this gym since there buisiness practice is dictated by restless members.

I opened a membership for my college age daughter when she was home for summer last year. When she went back to college, we forgot to close the membership. Recently, I noticed the recurring charge and called to inquire. I spoke to a lovely young lady on the phone who said that she’d be happy to leave a note on my account, and if I were to come in to speak to a manager, they would see what they can do for me. I explained that I myself was now looking to join a gym and I might as well join this one. Was there a way I could perhaps transfer or at least not lose a full years worth of paid for but unused membership to a credit of some kind for me?
I’m sitting in the parking lot of this location now as I write this review. I just spoke with who I believe was a manager. Her name was Shannon. She was polite, but after reviewing my account and understanding the situation, offered no resolution other than to cancel the account that we had originally opened, and to open myself another membership if I wanted that. I was frankly, surprised that they were not offering anything in return. I paid for, but never actually used. I asked Shannon one more time just to be clear. “So, we paid for the service and you can verify in your system that we haven’t used it, and here I am looking to become a new customer and you are either unwilling or unable to do anything to secure my business over. your competitors?” Shannon confirmed my synopsis for me, and added that she “can see both sides of the argument”.
More to air my own frustration with the average company’s total and complete absence of anything approaching customer service, I had to post this. So I present this question to the corporate whizzes that have squeezed every last ounce of monetizable value out of your subscription based services: I, nor my family, will now never again patronize your company. And we’ll talk badly about you and share our story with others. Was it worth it?

UPDATE: I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CANCEL FOR YEARS. I EVEN WENT AS FAR AS CLOSING THE CREDIT CARD IT WAS ASSOCIATED WITH. SOMEHOW THEY MOVED TO ANOTHER CARD WITH THE SAME CREDIT CARD COMPANY. NOT ONLY IS THIS A HORRIBLE LOCATION THEY ARE STRAIGHT UP CROOKS.

Old and very distressed equipment. Not that clean either. Very disappointing. I would rather drive 20+ minutes down Tampa Road to go to clean, modern facilities.

The whole facility needs a major refresh from the ground up. If considering LA as your daily local gym dont waste your money.

I come to this gym basically almost every week, The gym staff is super friendly especially Gage, Peter and Corey always attentive and knowledgeable when you ask them questions. Equipment is pretty well kept and cleaned often. Aside from gym being busy at peak hours its really good gym. Bathrooms are always clean.

10 years membership and little had changed. People dropping weights, and almost no supervision at night time.

I wish they had done a major renovation while it was closed during the last few months since they kept charging.

Trying to cancel your membership here is a joke. They tell you to come in during a 1-hour slot during the working day and then when you do come in they tell you to send a request via snail mail, but they ignore it. They never stick to their word and make it incredibly impossible. They were also indescribably rude when asked to cancel the membership. Stay far away from this place, they’ll just keep you there for money.
Also the bathrooms are incredibly disgusting.

It's exactly what you would expect from an LA Fitness.
Good selection of equipment, dumbbells not even close to being in order, young guys playing on their phones, young girls in full makeup dressed like they're late to their Hooters shift, and old people staving off death for another year.
And all that for $39/ month! Well worth it.

By far the worst gym I ever been to. I normally go to the one on east bay, but recently moved to palm harbor and wanted to check this place out. All the equipment is extremely old and outdated. Place was filthy, I only seen one setup for sanitation wipes that was hard to find. The water fountain aren't filtered. The list goes on.

This is hands down the dirtiest gym I have ever seen. I purchased my membership online and then went in to workout. I wish I had taken a tour first. The equipment is antiquated with rust. Looks like nothing has ever been cleaned from the carpets to the bathrooms. There is a terrible smell throughout the gym that smells like black mold and sweat. The franchisee owner doesn’t care at all it’s obvious. This is palm harbor, I expect better. Planet fitness down the street has state of the art brand new equipment and is very clean. Who ever is the franchisee owner should be ashamed. They are making so much money but will not update the 20 year old equipment and at least clean the carpets and equipment. I’ll be canceling my membership now.

I never enjoyed working out until I set up with Kat. She actually made me love the gym! Great job! She is an awesome trainer and since starting I have gone down 2 dress sizes. Thanks to Walter and Shannon for making this place so nice. I also want to thank Skylar as well, you all make it fun to go and I feel "at home".

The place has a lot of extras that other smaller gyms do not have, but they look old and outdated. There are also a lot of young folks that have zero gym etiquette which would require some of the staff to keep an eye on them so no one gets hurt.

Ever since they switched to “Esporta” from the LA brand name it’s gone downhill extremely quickly. If you want a gym where it’s constantly filled with 13 year olds (that’s the age they allow in now) then this is your gym. They say kids need to be accompanied with an adult but this is not true, I see kids with their friends walk in with no adults nonstop. And customer service from the employees is as bad as if a 13 year old ran the place. I don’t know how this place hasn’t been shut down yet, I’ve watched little kids almost die on the squat rack and if it wasn’t for their youth, they’d have given themselves herniated disks or even a broken back just based on how BAD their form is. I had to report to the employees multiple times instances where young teens were putting their health at risk and nothing has been put in place yet. This is what happens when you prioritize greed over your customers health and future.

Equipment is filthy, there is literally chewed pieces of gum insid the cup holders of many machines. The staff puts training session advertising flyers everywhere, most machines have the little flyer either on the seat or in the cup holder, so of course they end up going on the floor. I'm pretty sure they wash the gym equipment with some type of vinegar cleaner, because the equipment smells like vinegar, mind u, the equipment looks sticky and dirty. Staff at the entrance... Not even sure why they are there, even when you initiate a greeting, they don't even respond. I wish this location was better than it is. Once a door in the ladies bathroom broke and it literally was half hanging off for about a month. Another time they had some type of leak and they had buckets all over the place to catch the leak from the roof... That stayed there for a few weeks too. Stinky, dirty, and unfriendly. Also, their hours are terrible, but that's all the locations. Opening at 8AM on a Saturday and Sunday? Most people like to have their workouts done by that time.

Tired of these gyms closing so early. Not enough 24 hour gyms. People want to workout later. And those who start work early like myself 6 am can't workout before work cause they dont open until 5 am so I'm stuck at the busiest time of the evening.

The Esporta Fitness in Palm Harbor is a nice facility. You will be greeted nicely as you enter, there is a pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, racquet ball courts, a personal training section, several aerobics rooms, spinning, and more.

Some of the strength training equipment is dated, but the cardio section is fairly decent. Their precor stretching units need to be repaired or replaced, and strangely enough, the 45lb Olympic plates have an odd circular shape that might trap and pinch your fingers as you replace them on the holding rack and slide it in. Maybe my fingers are too long but I've never experienced this with other 45lb Olympic weights.

One final comment, and not a reflection on the gym itself. When walking into the entrance you have to cross the parking lot entry / exit roadway and there are no speed bumps so people have a tendency to speed by which can be dangerous if you are not (or the driver is not) paying attention.

Overall, a decent place to enjoy fitness.
4 stars, leaving room for improvement.

Jacuzzi (Hot Tub) is so constantly broken they have a reusable sign to let you know it’s down. Don’t plan a night around using it at this location. Gym needs an upgrade, guest sign in policy is inconsistent with other esporta or LA Fitness guest passes, and the hours are horrible. Sunday it closes at 7pm… geez. Refresh this gym, change policies, bring back paper towels, and rating will go up. Staff is great!

Every time I turn a corner all I see is another high school wannabe bodybuilder flexing and taking pictures of themselves in the mirror. I have been to many gyms in my life and many LA Fitnesses/Esportas and have never seen so many clusters of high school kids around 5 O'clock taking all the equipment and taking pictures and videos of themselves. It was entertaining to me at first but now down right annoying. I honestly can't remember a single time I turned the corner to walk into the men's locker room and not seen kids doing pose-offs in the mirrors. Maybe I'm getting old and out of touch, but it is ridiculous to me to the point where I felt the need to share.

Compared to most, this is a slightly above average fitness facility. However, even with a Jacuzzi and sauna, it is not the best LA Fitness facility in the area. I say this because the club is older (it looks it in some areas) and so is some of the equipment. However, that said over the year that I have been a member, they have upgraded some of the equipment and the cosmetic appearance of some parts of the club. The staff and their leadership deserve credit for the investment. I thank them. The pros are that this facility has a good variety of equipment and all the usual amenities at a good price. The cons are the Jacuzzi, along with other breakdowns of equipment and inconsistency of service. If you are looking to consistently use a Jacuzzi, look elsewhere. I have been a member for a year and the Jacuzzi was out of service at least 30 times over that time period. For the most part the staff appear uninterested. I feel sorry for the staff. I'm guessing that the consistent breakdowns and inconsistent service are because of a lack of leadership from above. I like the facility mostly because of its location. However, I anticipate looking elsewhere in the future-
