About the Club

As a Medical Exercise Specialist, I specialize in exercise and fitness programs for clients with chronic medical conditions or those who have recently been discharged from physical therapy, chiropractic, or medical care. My programs are designed to help to improve or maintain my clients’ level of function and mobility. I help virtually anyone who has a functional deficit that can benefit from an exercise program designed for their specific conditions and needs. I'm a mobile trainer which means I travel to my clients homes or community fitness centers.

I’ve started and stopped with many trainers over the years and have never had the positive experience I’ve had with Angela. No matter how many trainers I’ve told that it’s taken me a long time to get so out of shape and I don’t expect to turn it around in a session or two (and I always add, don’t hurt me or I won’t be back), Angela is the first one who’s listened. What started as a way of helping me recover more quickly from a scheduled knee replacement has ended up as a lifestyle change…including canceling my surgery because although I’ve still got old knees, they no longer cause me constant pain. Angela listens and works with me and knows when to push me and maybe more importantly, when to stop pushing. I recommend Angela without hesitation.

Here’s an update: I had my first knee replacement 9 days ago. Seems like arthritis doesn’t listen to Angela. My surgeon is fantastic and I was up walking with the aid of a walker within an hour of waking up. I used the walker a little more that day and for a few hours the next morning and then not again. I was prescribed all sorts of pain meds but never needed them. I did take a Tylenol each of the last three days but really no pain. My surgeon will have to share credit with Angela because I can’t imagine my recovery would be this smooth had I not been working with her to strengthen all the appropriate muscles to prepare for surgery. I started physical therapy the day after surgery and will keep at it diligently while also working with Angela to prepare for my next knee surgery. Angela’s prehab will make rehab much easier and hopefully I’ll be playing bad golf again soon!

As a 66 year old sedentary women I was concerned about how my lack of balance, strength and stamina was impacting my life style and could tell it was going downhill. My daughter found angela for me and I am just wrapping up a 16 week session with her. She is the PERFECT trainer! She developed a program that incrementally stretched me, while helping me build my confidence. I set out to find a personal trainer for my mother who was looking to ease into a more regular exercise routine, but was cautious because she has bad knees and was very hesitant to have a personal trainer come to her home. I came across Angela and I'm so glad I did, she has been more than wonderful for the past year. Angela was responsive and listened to our concerns. I called Angela out of all the personal trainers in our area because of her emphasis on “Fifty Plus”, and I liked her photo. It is my first experience with a trainer. It took us @ 5 weeks for Angela to be able to free up time that also fit into my schedule but after writing and talking with her I wanted to try her, and it was worth the wait! I started working with Angela Xenis Gagauf in November of 2017 - going on 10 months now. Before we began she took a thorough assessment of my strength levels and capabilities. She also got to know my medical condition and always keeps it front and center as she's developing new workout routines for me.

Prior to working with Angela I had always taken gym classes and actually resisted working with a personal trainer - I felt I needed the energy of a group class to keep me motivated.

Well, working with Angela really opened my eyes to a more effective way to work out! Having a trainer focused on my particular goals and taking into account my personal capabilities has really made a difference for me.

Take it from me, an 82 year old duffer who thought all was well with me and my body. Thank God for my wife referring Angela to me! It was Angela who showed me that over the years nature had taken away some of the strength I had when I was younger.

During the 5 months we have worked together I have improved way more than I could have imagined!
