I helped host a summer camp at the Florida State University Rec SportsPlex, and the experience was nothing short of excellent. The staff were phenomenalβsuper nice, professional, and always willing to help with anything we needed. Their positive attitude made everything run smoothly throughout the week. The fields were unbelievably clean and well maintained, which really stood out, especially considering how active the space is. From setup to wrap-up, the whole facility felt organized and taken care of. It was an ideal location for the camp, and Iβd absolutely recommend it for any event or sports activity.

FYI / BEWARE.. Parking at this place is a complete nightmare π« Out of all the complexes we have played at <40+>, this place is by far the worst. Every time we've been, it's different.. They are trying to improve, but to no avail.. Every time we've played there, the field layout changes. I'll post a pic of the map, just to give you an idea of mid, center, east, west, north, and south. This will get you closer to fields you'll be playing on, for parking.. Allow an EXTRA 30 minutes for parking. It takes forever. Also, I haven't been to one tourny that they didn't change our fields, at least once, during a tournament.

The FSU Rec SportsPlex is an amazing facilityβclean, well-organized, and perfect for everything from recreational leagues to competitive tournaments. The fields are top-quality, with well-maintained turf and lighting that makes evening games a breeze.
The layout is easy to navigate, with plenty of parking and shaded areas for spectators. Whether youβre playing or cheering from the sidelines, the atmosphere is always energetic and welcoming.
Florida State clearly takes pride in this spaceβitβs one of the best sports complexes weβve visited. Highly recommend for youth events, intramurals, or just a great day of sports!

Absolutely the worst parking ever. We've travelled to dozens of soccer tournaments and the parking here tops it as the most horrible layout and congestion from all the fields we've visited.

The worst parking I have ever experienced in any place!! This place is so poorly designed, and the police that try and help are not the brightest. I will vote to never play a tournament here.

Golf cart guy asks me not to park in the middle of a grassy open field. Creating 3 rows of parking spaces.
Instead we are told to move. Then allows several other people to park exactly where we were not allowed... Feels unfair.

Every year we travel to Tallahassee to play in a charity flag football game and this is the field we use. It's always well maintained with clean restrooms and ample parking. One of my favorite events of the year!

Came for a two day soccer tournament. Parking is bad but there were a few large grass fields farther away (rather far, actually).
We were towing a 25 ft travel trailer, so we couldn't drive through an overcrowded parking lot. Luckily the host had a sign for RV entrance and parking off Rankin Ave. We were able to park and set up the camper for the day before we could get to our campsite.
Next time we will likely camp (boondock) at the fields.

Under normal circumstances the FSU Rec SportsPlex has plenty of parking and is a great facility. Where it completely fails is when they play host to large tournaments, especially large soccer tournaments. The fields themselves have always been great. We give 5 stars for the fields. However, over the years we have gone there, we have noticed a huge decline in pedestrian safety and accessibility for overflow access from remote lots to the main facility by pedestrians. FSU gets 1 star nowadays for their parking and pedestrian access for overflow parking. There are overflow fields you can park in and walk to the entrance. Traffic can be overwhelming trying to get in and out of the main parking area. The problem is when you walk to the facility.
The entire main parking area is surrounded by a large chain link fence like a minimum-security prison. Because of this fencing, FSU forces all pedestrian traffic onto a narrow two-lane road where folks parallel park outside the main parking lot. And trust me, the main lot is small for large tournaments leaving you no choice but to park on the side of the main road or the overflow fields. This creates an extreme hazard for pedestrians as there are no sidewalks. You are forced to walk on the road and contend with vehicle traffic coming in and out of the main entrance.
We understand gating off the side parking lot access route only for emergency vehicles as we were told by FSU staff on site. However, they should at least allow pedestrian access from the overflow lots instead of funneling them onto very dangerous road situations. I challenged staff after they told me the gate was for emergency vehicles only. I questioned if they are for emergency vehicles only why is there a bike lock on the gate and will there be someone there in a timely manner to unlock it during an emergency? What made matters worse was by the time you dodged cars and got to the main entrance as a pedestrian, they also had the pedestrian gate to the sidewalk chained off forcing you to once again go onto the main road at the entrance itself and contend with vehicle traffic.
This is probably the worst venue to attend for a large tournament in all of Florida because of these safety problems, not because of the fields themselves. We have traveled throughout Florida over the years attending multiple large tournaments and have never encountered such horrible safety issues for pedestrians. To pour salt on the wound, if you do end up parking in the main parking lot and accidentally park in the wrong area, FSU will tow your vehicle. If you do come to a large tournament be careful with the parking and pedestrian situation and plan accordingly.

Parking is crazy for tournaments. Need better mapping (for out of town teams), hard to figure out closes parking area to the field you need. Women bathroom needs another hand dryer (just 1 for 4 sinksπ€·).

The fields were kept in good condition, and the college "volunteers" for my daughter's soccer tournament were attentive and tried to be helpful.
Parking is absolutely terrible. Half the entrance/exits were blocked off. This made it confusing on how to get in and out of "parking areas."
The marking and directions for the different fields is poor. There could be a simple way of marking fields other than having 3 sets of 1-6 fields. And then have a simple little sign or something at major sidewalk intersections that show which way to go for the different fields.
Overall, nice location for events. With some minor (but important) modifications and this field would be 5 stars!

Great facility. Was there for a soccer tournament over the weekend. Parking is pretty good onsite. Would be great to have a concession stand open during a tournament but Jimmy Johns provided that. Close to main campus food, too.
