A unique blend of personal training, yoga, assisted stretching, mat Pilates, menu planning and health coaching. Whether managing knee, hip, back, or joint pain, osteoporosis, or arthritis, our goal is to help you move beyond physical limitations and rediscover joy in exercise. One-on-one sessions are customized to your evolving goals and available in-person or virtually. Partner sessions with friends or family are an option. We provide ongoing accountability between sessions through text and phone support. Great for seniors and those overcoming mental and physical limitations.
We also offer a Hybrid Personal/Virtual Program that includes tailored assessments, personalized plans, app-based homework, and ongoing support.

I just recently completed Phase 1 of the Functional Fitness Posture Guru. The program started with an analysis of the posture. I submitted two photos of how I sit and stand I was given a full analysis of deficiencies and areas of problem.
After the analysis Marilyn and Fernando developed a posture program specifically for my posture issues. We worked on exercises I have never worked on and quickly noticed my muscle weaknesses in the neck and hips.
The program was really easy to follow with a manageable schedule that I was also to do while working a full time job and other responsibilities. In addition to the prescribed exercises, on the off days there were great videos that helped with stretching after a long day of sitting and other tip to take into account.
After the program was completed, we submitted updates to our photos and the results were remarkable. The deficiencies I had were corrected and the crooked hips I had were nearly gone.
I plan on repeating the program again because I noticed dramatic changes in my posture and overall health. 10/10!!!!

I participate in two of Marilyn’s classes at Florida Blue. When my Dr prescribed physical therapy I found her classes actually were doing more good than the physical therapy sessions were. We tease her about losing track of count during repetitions of an exercise. But it is because she stops to give us instruction, encouragement and positive reinforcement which keeps us motivated to keep working. Thanks Marilyn!

I reached out to Marilyn just over a year ago now to help regain some strength after an illness brought on weakness, severe fatigue, and an inability to walk for longer than a few minutes without nearly passing out which was difficult to face at only 30 years old. I came in frustrated but determined. Marilyn helped me ease back into fitness and met me where I was every step of the way. She helped me navigate and relieve old injury flare ups that caused pain and helped me regain the ability to be active. After a year of consistent work together I have regained my strength, can walk far distances again, and have regained the freedom to enjoy all the outdoor activities I love. Marilyn has a wealth of knowledge and excels at creatively curating exercise to meet the needs of her clients. I cannot recommend working with Marilyn enough. If you’re looking for somebody with a lot of knowledge that can help you safely navigate exercise and work with you to integrate it back into your life you have found the right person.

Marilyn is a phenomenal trainer. I never took fitness seriously until I turned 48 and realized my body was starting to struggle. For the last couple of months, I have been participating in Marilyn's one hour fitness class "Flat Belly/Strong Core" and "Balanced Stretch". The class is currently offered on Saturday mornings at the Florida Blue Center on Westshore Blvd in Tampa. I am really enjoying working out with Marilyn. She has a passion for physical fitness and is extremely knowledgeable. My personal goal was/is to improve my posture and strengthen my upper back. When I first started working out with Marilyn six months ago, I had severe back pain and poor balance. After one session my back felt much better and I canceled my orthopedic doctor appointment. She was also able to help me with a terrible knee problem. She decided it was coming from my balance issues and started exercises which gave me wonderful relief.

I initially reached out to Marilyn at functional fitness guru because of nagging back pain. I am pleased to say that our workouts alleviated my back pain very quickly. Once the back pain was gone, Maryland increased the intensity of our workouts to help me reach my new goals which included participating in adventurous Travel.
