I have been going to this gym for years. I LOVE the staff at this gym. They are knowledgable and kind. BUT the facilities have gone down hill and have become seriously neglected.
The lifting room has multiple leaks dripping from the ceiling into trash cans that have been placed to collect the water. The bathrooms and equipment are often in need of serious cleaning and repairs. Some of the water fountains run warm water, which is far from ideal when you are looking to cool down after intense cardio.
I understand that people break things and these types of issues would not be a big deal if they were fixed in a timely fashion, but these things are often neglected for WEEKS. I mean come on, you leave dirty roof water dripping into your weight room blocking machines!?
THIS COMPLAINT IS EXPLICITLY DIRECTED AT OWNERSHIP...STOP NEGLECTING NECESSARY REPAIRS... PEOPLE ARE FED UP...BE RESPONSIBLE.

Absolutely worst experience with a gym. The contract is misleading and they do not inform you of any of the fine print. Of course not that's how they make their money. I had completely torn my ACL after attending the gym for less then a month. when I called to cancel due to my injury. I got a rude repsonse telling me that I should just freeze my account and still be charged a lesser fee for not even using the gym... I had to send a certified letter requesting my account to be canceled. After receiving notification that letter was received and my account being charged another $50 dollars. I thought everything was fine.. Now almost 7 months later I get a letter stating that I owe them more money and I am going to be charged late fees...complete lack of staff/client communication, no respect or genuine concern for the patrons. this place just wants money money money. If you like to get ripped off , be my guest and sign up here

This place is great! It's full of good equipment and has an awesome and friendly staff. There is plenty to do even during the busiest times. Classes are frequent and fun. The nice part is I see many seniors here staying healthy! Definitively recommend joining!

It's got alot of various cardio equipment and good circuit training equipment, along with classes of several varieties and most anything a full service gym might offer. Only suggestion for improvement would be better maintenance on the cardio gear upstairs, as well as adding a few more of the higher demand machines like the ellipticals, which are usually in short supply and replacing some of the older elliptical equipment with more modern machines. Also install so plugs don't get tripped on, resetting machine counters, very aggravating.

I like GOLD'S a lot. Ever since I belonged to it in Venice Beach, CA. decades ago. This one in St. Pete is a little old and dated but my kind of folks. I am old now as my email handle indicates "oldgymray71@gmail. I was a little unhappy that it wasn't 24/7 as the one in California was but that is life. I finally decided to use its expanded hours and looked on line to see if I could go Monday AM. It said it was open 24 hours on Monday. I just got back from there trying to work out at 2:00 AM NOT OPEN and I saw no hours posted. YOU ARE IN THE DOG HOUSE! DO something nice for me and I'll probably forgive. Fix your email site though so others are not misled!

I went to Gold's Gym because it is conveniently located down the street from my house and is 24 hours during the week. As i was just looking to try it out, I asked the sales person if they had any contracts available for that time period and he said "yes". So I proceeded to go through the process. I asked him (mistakenly) after I had signed the contract what I should do if I wanted to cancel. He told me I would have to submit a written letter 60 months in advance. So a one month contract is basically a three month contract. Nevermind the fact that I wanted to go to a different gym and pay significantly less for better equipment. I didn't have any big complaints against this gym except for their sleazy sales tactics and sketchy contracts.

Don't sign up for this gym for their contracting practices alone. I was a member for a number of years, mid-way though that time they increased my monthly rate with no warning, reason, or alternative (despite the fact I paid a large amount upfront to have a reduced monthly rate).
Then, when you try to cancel your membership, they make you send a certified letter, and charge you 60 days! Phone companies don't even do this!!!
Bottom line, if they had a good product they wouldn't need such manipulating and difficult contract terms. You shouldn't need any contract to join a gym let alone one that is this regressive.
