Good luck cancelling your membership here. They will tell you it’s cancelled and keep charging your account, after multiple attempts to cancel. Might as well cancel your card or put in a fraud claim with your bank. I cancelled in person in June , with Olga, when the facility moved locations and no cancellation was honored apparently. She even called me the next day to confirm she cancelled it. I’ve left several messages on their voicemail.

One of the worst gyms I've been to.

-The weights are always misplaced and scattered across the gym at all times throughout the day. I've been in the gym at 2 a.m and equipment and weights were scattered across the gym.
-The equipment is always dirty
-No one cleans up after themselves. Leaving their weights and sweat all over the equipment. Gym benches are covered in three to the four layers of different peoples sweat.
-The gym is used by a personal trainers class, who use up half the gym and refuse to clean up after themselves.
-The gym has no wet wipes, instead using several rags and spray bottles for clean up. The same rags are used throughout the day and are always soaked different people's sweat.
-The personal trainers are some of the most rude and pathetic people I've ever come across. Using the gym as their own personal play pen. Starting fights and threatening random people or trying to hookup with their clients.
-The gym does discounts and T-shirt giveaways for reviews, so I wouldn't trust most of the 5 star reviews that are posted.

This gym is more expensive than most, with half the equipment and zero benefits. I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone.

Update: The gym overcharged me for several months after my final payment date. It took numerous back-and-forth emails to get the owners to close my account. Even after that, they tried to reopen it, falsely claiming I had been attending daily (despite not having set foot in the gym for months). More emails followed, revealing that the owners didn't even remember my name, despite promising to close the account a week earlier. Only after I threatened legal action did they finally stop charging me. Avoid this gym.

I canceled membership in December 2023. Have not been to location since 2023 and yet they are still charging membership fees which is sickening and without my consent. How do you charge fees for no services rendered or used since last year? I am disappointed and disgusted that no one has taking the initiative to reach out to see if I were dead or alive? Their main focus seems to be on that of stealing monies from me for services I have yet to use since last year 2023. Shame on these owners and their corrupted managerial staff who are taking monies from me for services I have yet to use since 2023. If they are taking advantage of me, I'm sure they are taking advantage of many others. How to you take from others that you are not entitled to? Refunding my monies for the past 8 months would be greatly appreciated. Times are difficult and hard for many people without the added stress of having to also worry about others stealing or taking from you for which I do not deserve. If I were using your facilty and taking advantage services, that would be a different story. However that is not the case. Stop charging me for something I am not using since 2023.

Been coming to caltas for 8 years now. To me, it’s the best gym in town. Truly 24/7 Sunday -Sunday and even open on holidays. They have every equipment you can think of, machine or free weight. Turf area, locker rooms, showers, boxing classes . State of art boxing ring and coaches. Even with a smoothie bar! I would check it out if you haven’t.

Was made fun of by the staff at this gym . Stopped going. Made a payment arrangement with the staff. They went behind my back and charged my card multiple times. I also explained that I suffered a spinal injury and I had the medical documentation to prove and all she offered was for me to come back to the gym. I was in a severe car accident in September so I called to request my membership is cancelled because I have medical notice that I will need 4-6 months to recover. They told me I had to come in person to cancel but I explained due to the accident, my car was totaled and I could not drive there... And I have MANY outstanding medical bills at this time so I can't buy $95 per month for a membership I can't use. After two phone calls, they finally agreed to pause my membership for October and November, stating I would not be charged. I asked for an email to confirm that in writing, I never received anything. Then I sent a notarized letter on October 3rd explaining the situation again and requesting my membership is cancelled. They charged me for November anyway. And they will probably try to continue to charge me. THANK YOU for the lack of empathy and for your poor professionalism. I knew they tried to be slick when I never received the email confirmation I requested. I was in the hospital getting grief over a stupid membership. I'm glad I decided to quit this gym. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone if you want to be treated like a decent human being. Let me not forget how they dismantled all the boxing equipment for over a month but didn't adjust anyone's membership for that time. Or when they were painting the walls on a Saturday with zero ventilation. They really care about your health.

I would give this place a 0 stars if it allowed me to. The owner was really nice when I signed up and even took credit card info over the phone. But beware, when you cancel they extort money out of you.

I tried numerous times to get them on the phone, however they have a voicemail system that will not accept any messages. Then I emailed them twice, however they refused to answer my email. I finally got one of their staff over a week ago and he said I needed to drive the hour to get there and cancel in person. He said he would pass my info onto the owner and have her call me. Over a week later and no call.

I call back tonight and a different staff member said I have give two months, yes two months notice to cancel, so they can get an extra $100 out of me. When I said I would dispute the charges, she threatened me with “it will cost you more, if you do that”. She then said well you could have cancelled online, however now you will never know and hung up on me!

I am going to seek legal action, however I would strongly suggest stay away from this unethical and unprofessional business!!!

Honestly screw these other reviews?? This gym has stood the test of time!! The only gym that has stayed in tampa as long as it has, and it doesn’t even have all of the “extras” including saunas, cycle classes, yoga or whatever. Great place! The gym itself has every machine you could ever need, dumbbells up to 150, and the boxing program is phenomenal! Great trainers, very friendly and helpful and the owner is always there, extremely nice, knowledgeable and helpful! Highly recommend!

I love this gym! It’s a great place to work out and the owners are super friendly. On top of regular work outs it’s a seriously impressive boxing gym but without being intimidating. I love that it’s family owned! ...not a corporate big chain gym but still uber professional!

None of these reviews make any sense to me. There is a cleaning lady there every day, its cheap, all the equipment you need to have to workout is there, and this gym had been in Tampa for over 30 years.. Its the only known gym in Tampa so they must be doing something right. Ive been a member for 3 years now and absolutely love it!

Worst customer service experience I have ever had. I signed up in Jan of 2017. I moved and have been trying to cancel since December 2017. Every time I try to cancel they say I need to send a letter or do it online, the answer is never the same. I have sent emails, made phone calls and sent emails.I have been paying for a gym membership in a state in which I do not live and there is no attempt for them to rectify this. DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT HERE. DO NOT DO IT. I called again on June 7th and the woman working there was no help. I just don’t understand if I sign a year contract and never resign how they can CHARGE ME FOR 3 ADDITIONAL YEARS. It’s an awful rip off, so unprofessional.

Terrible gym. When it was opened in S. Tampa I paid for a full year and was ensured that I would get a refund if it closed down. Well it did close and after countless phone calls and promises of reimbursement, I never saw a dime. They ripped me off. Do not trust this gym owner.

I had a membership for about 1 1/2 yr, when I moved I asked for cancellation at end of November. After my bank notified my in December they were trying to charge me I called and spoke to Staff who advised they would speak to management have them contact me to resolve them attempting to charge me $30, my bank then cancelled that card to prevent them attempt to do the same, no manager contact. Now it’s Febuary I received multiple calls or text responded to the calls and spoke to staff who threatened collections noting even though after the first year the contracts states your month to month that have to be notified 3 months in advance which only applies to contracts cancelled prior to the year commitment. When I requested supervisor contact I was told they will have someone call me and still no call. I know feel there practices are predatory at the very least, now they are stating I owe them $90 dollars....don’t waste your time or money on the headache..... way better gyms for way better service.

I bought memberships for me and my son. He was a high school athlete and would spot him. After high school he was recruited and went to play collage ball. We went to gym together and cancelled memberships after 2 years. I was appalled that I had to pay an additional 4 months for cancellation. I paid. 6 months latter I checked my bank account to find out That Frank Caltas was continuously charging my account for 1 membership. I stopped payments. At this time I started getting texts threatening collectors. I called and tried to straighten there mistake and at the end of all this Caltas charged me an additional 2 months to cancel membership. I paid 8 months to get out of contract due to there shoddy bookkeeping. When you cancel be sure and get it in writing. Terrible customer service. I feel violated and only payed to keep my credit rating. Would not recommend to anyone

Not to complain but during the weekends and almost every day there is constant ghetto rap blaring very loudly. Even pods and headphones can't block it there should there should be a variety of music to suit everyone's likes not just one person's

Their facilities are outdated and If you sign up for a class and try to cancel they will always charge you the next month. You can’t just cancel on the spot. There are better gyms. I meant to write this for st Pete location. But google won’t let me switch.
