After completing one workout of Hot Yoga at 10:30 AM class on September 19th, I had a casual and friendly conversation with owner’s Meg 's husband, discussing general topics. He noticed I was driving a Jeep. He was discussing the Jeepin with Judd event that’s held in Lakeland, his wife's BMW car and I asked if they booked their cruise for their family trip. He also informed me of their new location opening in Davenport. Also, while I was waiting for my next Hot Blast class at 11:29 AM, he showed me how to use certain equipment for my best benefit and, after class, was kind enough to continue a brief conversation while also looking for a flyer to provide me regarding a Jeep event for Breast Cancer Awareness in October. At all times, this interaction was respectful, appropriate, and related to the gym and its services. As I was leaving Meg arrived at the gym and I congratulated her on their new location. Meg asked how I knew, and I told her that her husband told me.

However, I was shocked and upset when I was later confronted and attacked by Meg on Monday September 22nd, 2025, over this entirely innocent conversation. Her behavior was hostile, unprofessional, and made me feel extremely uncomfortable in what should be a safe and welcoming environment. Meg asked if I was not trained properly on how to use the equipment. I didn’t understand her hostile demeanor and completely threw me off guard as to why she was asking why I had many questions? Meg stated that she watched the cameras, and I was hanging at the front and didn’t understand why I took my shoes to the other side of the room. I explained that I took all my things to the other side of the room because that was where my other class was going to begin. Meg also said that her husband said that I was bothering him as he had work to do. I apologized and said that I didn’t mean any harm. I would not ever speak to her husband again, but it was a 2-sided conversation between me and her husband. Meg said there was no need for that, but Meg stated that she is the owner, and her husband had work to do. Then, I told Meg better, yet you can cancel my membership. Meg said gladly. This incident created an environment that was hostile, unwelcoming, and unacceptable for any paying member.

I had my fiancé meet me at the gym to be my witness to request a refund. Both Meg and her husband stated no refunds/policy. I have writing to formally request a full refund for the gym equipment which includes, (bag, mat, towel, all equipment for class, water bottle, 3 shirts, leg and arm weights). I purchased and for the remainder of my membership, which I was forced to cancel due to the hostile and unprofessional treatment I experienced at your facility.

Because of this treatment, I no longer feel safe or comfortable attending the gym. I have therefore had no choice but to cancel my membership. I have only been a member since August 21st, 2025. Under these circumstances, I believe it is both reasonable and fair to request:

1. A full refund of all gym equipment purchased.

2. A prorated refund of my membership fees, effective immediately as of the date of cancellation.

This incident has caused me to lose confidence in the professionalism of your facility. I believe this matter deserves your urgent attention, and I respectfully request an acknowledgment of what occurred and an assurance that no member should be treated this way in the future.

I find the owners very pushy and rude.
Hotworx allows you to take a single class for free to interest you, then they bombard you with sign up fees, membership fees, fees for a mat, fees for a towel, fees for equipment like bands (never used), gloves (never used), as well as many other items (all never used) making it seem that this bundle saves you money when in reality all of this equipment is much cheaper on Amazon (yes, even equipment that could be used in an infrared sauna despite what they tell you) and you don't need 90% of it. This was my first red flag because you're spending essentially $500 to sign up and get the equipment you "need" but I am not someone that feels comfortable speaking my mind or saying no, so I paid the fees and for the items and hoped they would be worth it in the long run. Spoiler alert, they weren't!

As for the heat... I personally can't take how hot it gets and although you can turn the heat down, I don't enjoy the guided workout videos enough to pay the membership price. I didn't find any aspect of the videos or working out in the sauna enjoyable after the excitement of the first few class wore off, but it was much too late for that considering I already invested around $500 in the first 2 days lol.

My membership was on pause because I was back in Michigan for the summer and I received no reminder that it was coming off pause and continuing to charge me the membership price.When I called Hotworx, Ed explained that they have over 1,000 members so they can't be expected to remind me. Are all 1,000 members on pause or am I one of maybe twenty that have their membership paused? You texted me multiple times in the past for promotions and when I paused my membership so I would have expected an automated text message, an email, or quite literally any communication as a reminder.

I paid the $63 membership fee for the month as well as an additional $105 cancellation fee for my membership and in total, I would say signing up for this facility cost me nearly $1000 and I only ever did a handful of classes. I 100000000% regret ever signing up for this establishment.

A few suggestions for the business owners....
Please allow a longer trial process so people can fully see if this is something they enjoy and want to stick with.
Use an automated texting system when memberships are coming off pause as I am still not in Lakeland and would have extended the pause.
Don't sell the bag of all the nonsense equipment to someone on their first day making the customer feel that this is needed for classes when in reality, they only need the mat and towel. And AGAIN, you could get a towel and mat off Amazon or online that is also made for infrared saunas, but Hotworx is greedy and makes you only buy their merchandise.

I am very disappointed with my experience with Hotworx and have been from the beginning. I didn't want to leave this review right away because I wanted to get my moneys worth before I burned the bridge to be honest. And I will not reach out to the owners because they're aggressive and condescending as you can see from many other reviews lol.

I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding the service and experience I’ve had at your gym location since joining in early 2025.

When I first signed up, I spoke with Meg, who was very clear in assuring me that I could bring my 7-year-old daughter with me during workouts, and that she could sit quietly in the designated area while I exercised. As a full-time employee and single mother, this flexibility was a key factor in my decision to join.

However, immediately after enrolling, the information I was given changed. I was informed that bringing my daughter would no longer be allowed. Additionally, an employee questioned my 7 year old daughter directly — rather than addressing me — which I found highly inappropriate and unprofessional.

Throughout my membership, I have found the customer service from both Meg and Ed to be lacking in professionalism, empathy, and basic customer care. I have worked in customer service for over a decade, and it is clear that they do not prioritize client satisfaction. Instead, the environment they foster often feels confrontational, with a general attitude that the customer is always wrong. On more than one occasion, I felt uncomfortable simply expressing how I felt about a situation, as doing so seemed to provoke unnecessary defensiveness and even arguments.

As a result, what was meant to be a place of peace and self-care became a source of stress and anxiety. While the gym facilities themselves are excellent, and the members are generally friendly and supportive, the staff interactions left a consistently negative impression.

In conclusion, I would NOT recommend this gym location based on the customer service experience I received. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, with the goal of improving the experience for future members.

This studio is the complete opposite of what Meg and Ed pride themselves on, which is supposedly being “#1 in customer service.” In reality, the environment feels selfish, unprofessional, and even hostile. The focus always seems to be on them, not the members.

I’ve witnessed Meg yell at multiple members, telling them she’s the boss and there’s nothing they can do or say. It's very crazy. She yells at anyone who talks to her employees for more than 30 seconds, and she even yells at members and employees for asking simple questions if she decides they’re “stupid.” Instead of being a welcoming space, going into this studio feels overwhelming — like there’s a cloud of anxiety hanging over the place. A fitness studio should be motivating and positive, but here it’s the complete opposite. As someone who goes 4–5 days a week, it’s draining and stressful.

The way they treat staff is just as bad. I’ve seen Meg and Ed talk down to the employees, sometimes yelling at them and then immediately turning around and yelling at customers, too. Unless you’re part of her little inner circle, expect to be treated poorly. Many members openly talk about how if it weren’t for the workouts themselves, they would have left a long time ago. Some members have even changed up their entire workout schedules to avoid coming in during office hours, just so they don’t have to run into Meg or Ed — that’s how uncomfortable and pressured they make people feel.

On top of that, there are major issues with honesty and accountability. Canceling a membership is nearly impossible. Meg and Ed will say they’ve processed cancellations, but months later members are still being charged. They make themselves so unavailable that it feels intentional. They ignore calls, voicemails, and emails if it has anything to do with memberships, because they don’t want to cancel or pause people — they don’t want to lose money. Then they lie about it and say they’re “just busy.” But when dealing with members’ money, it should be a top priority, not an afterthought. Instead, they drag it out, screw people over, and make it nearly impossible to get refunds.

Overall, the management here feels shady, controlling, and unstable. Instead of focusing on members and staff, Meg and Ed make it all about themselves. If you’re looking for a supportive, positive place to work out, I would strongly recommend going to any other HOTWORX location — especially the new one theyre opening — because this one is toxic, anxiety-inducing, and not worth the stress!!! Corporate should really do something about these people.

What a nightmare! When I joined this location with a friend of mine, I informed them that I was moving 1500 miles away and was on the fence about joining. They assured me that once I got moved, if I needed to cancel that I could do so with no issues and no fee. Once we got moved I was able to go once here and just haven’t been able to make it back due to a busy work schedule and the proximity of the facility to my house. I reached out to Meg (one of the owners) and asked to cancel and she told me that she will put my account on hold so I don’t have to restart here if I decide to go back. BUT I still get charged $9 a month. I did try that but realizing that I wasn’t able to make it work, I reached back out multiple times via call or text. My phone calls and texts never got returned. I would call the studio and leave messages with the staff for a return call, NOTHING! Finally I call the studio and Meg answers. I tell her that I want to cancel and that I have been trying to reach out. She tells me she got my messages but has just been too busy and that she was too busy to talk in that exact moment. I told her that I DO NOT WANT TO BE CHARGED for August… I was charged for August and my membership was still NOT canceled. I called 08/09 and Ed (Meg’s husband) answers, I explain how frustrated I am and that this is not what I was told it would be at all. I shouldn’t have to reach out MULTIPLE times to cancel something I pay for. Ed was very rude on the phone and told me that it was a mistake and he knows that the lord forgives him but clearly my friend and I aren’t forgiving people. Ignoring people who leave messages is not a mistake. All he bragged about was how they were just voted #1 for customer service. The staff is not allowed to cancel memberships, that’s only done by Meg or Ed. Well, when they make themselves so unavailable, it’s impossible to cancel and they just keep taking your money. I encourage anybody looking to join this scam, to read previous negative reviews. They all pretty much have the same issue with the same response from the owners, being rude and blaming the client, even reviews from 2 years ago. I’m sure I will get the same response. I will NEVER join another Hotworx.

I originally wrote a 5 star review for this business, and did enjoy my short time as a member here, but after my encounter today I have a totally different perspective! God forbid if you have any billing or account issues, or any critiques at all for that matter, because Meg (the owner) doesn't want to hear it. I have been getting double-billed for a few months now and when I brought this to her attention today by showing my actual WF bank info, she dismissed it and said "well, I don't see that on my computer". After telling her I didn't care what her billing system showed, the money has been leaving my account and I want it corrected, she says, "You're not going to talk to me like that and be disrespectful!" So, apparently coming to the owner in person with evidence of the complaint and voicing my frustration was too much for her. All I was trying to do was voice my problems and find a solution, but that was more than Meg's customer service skills (or lack thereof) could handle. So, now I have disputed these charges with my bank and will be cancelling my membership here permanately. Be forewarned! All is good here until it's not, then YOU are immediately the problem and to be blamed for their mistakes - gaslighting at it's finest!

On Thursday night , I did my first free session for Hot Core with my family ! Once I walked in I was so impressed on how organized , joyful and friendly the place is ! It brings comfort and definitely feels like a judgement free zone ! The ladies who attended me were Abby , Meg , and Jenni . They all did such a wonderful job, Abby with giving me a tour and detailed explanation for each sauna, along with the store ! I’ve started going to hotworkx with my daughters to help improve our overall physical and internal health because we’ve been struggling physically and internally with our health and trying to stay fit but since we’ve started at hotworkx we’ve been losing weight and improving our internal health and it’s been helping so much; it has also helped my daughters function a lot better mentally with school and work and it’s been helping us all with stress and being happier overall. We also appreciate the staffs kindness and understanding. The staff have been so open to sharing their inspiring stories as well and being so kind and understanding towards my family. I had never tried anything like hotworx before and I was so impressed by it. I'm not one that likes the crowded gym atmosphere but love working out with my friends and family. I've been a member since April of 2024. I love the InfraRed Saunas and the workouts. The virtual instructors are well trained and the workout sessions really push me to be better! The benefits for me are a sense of accomplishment, mental fatigue is lifted and I feel rejuvenated when I leave 🔥

Absolutely love Hotworx! The guided workouts take the guessing game out of what to do at the gym. The 24 hr access for members and the 15 minute cardio classes eliminate any excuse for not having time for the gym. The infrared sauna helps with muscle recovery, reduces soreness, helps detox, reduces inflammation and so much more!! I sleep so much better after joining Hotworx too! I am so thankful to have this place in Lakeland! I’ve never really stuck with working out because I often find myself confused on what to do next or how to work out. I realized I needed guided workouts like this but the huge group classes freaked me out. The studio is so clean and convenient. The owners are absolutely incredible, kind people!! HotWorx is amazing! I was already of fan of infrared saunas, but being able to exercise and stretch in one is a serious level up. I am down 15 pounds in 5 months just by doing 2 HotWorx sessions per week to replace regular gym workouts. Reduces inflammation, tones skin, deepens stretching, improves sleep, and is a great cardio challenge. The spa-like vibe and great owners are a bonus too. I highly recommend.

Been a member for about 3 months now and I just looove this place! Had a lot of lower backpain & joint pain before becoming a member. After joining this gym the pain went away. The saunas are really good against inflammation. Love the variety of classes they have. I had been to another regular gym for over a year but didn't see all the positive effects from it like I do with hotworx now. Another plus is that I never have sore muscles anymore after working out, wich I definitely had in regular workouts. (Thanks to infrared ) Oh and did I mention that the owner is a real fantastic lady! She has such a positive attitude and it looks like she knows all her members personally. This place is the real deal. I needed a Jumpstart to my workout routine and HOTWORX was a perfect fit.

I do NOT recommend this HOTWORX location to anyone interested in getting a membership. The management is incredibly rude and judgmental. I cancelled my membership due to high cost and needing additional equipment that HOTWORX’s does not offer to obtain my fitness goals. When canceling the owner proceeded to judge my physique by laughing in my face when I said I was working on gaining muscle. Save yourself the time and money by not going here!

This is a fabulous workout. It is extensive and has that hot infared heat that penetrates deep for a more complete workout. 24 hours / locked and safe. Never have I been one to be "addicted" to working out but things have changed. This infra-red sauna workout is the real deal. I'm here at least 5 nights a week and it has affected every part of my day. Sleep better, concentration, overall health, weight loss/muscle gain. Part of the draw at this particular studio are the owners and staff. You become part of the HOTWORX family.

My 18-year-old daughter signed up for this gym last August she has been requesting her subscription to this gym to be canceled since September via the owners personal cell phone. In the messages it states back in September of 2022 that they were going to process her cancellation request not a problem every month since then my child's bank account is still being charged almost $50 a month. My daughter has been calling this business for several months has went on their website asked for people to contact her has sent several messages directly to the owner and to know avail no one has contacted her back or anything. So this morning I called the owner Miss Margaret myself who then begins to get very irate with me on the phone tells me to have my daughter call up there and she will take care of her. My daughter then calls the business several times still again with no answer attempts to call the owner on her personal cell phone still no answer. My child then goes to the gym today to speak with them in person and they absolutely refused to give my daughter her money back and would not let her fill out the cancellation form. she was then told that she may come back tonight at 7:00 p.m. and they will take care of her then. So my hopes are at 7:00 p.m. this evening after several months of trying to get this cancellation subscription done that they honor and do a good business practices. At this time in my personal opinion this is bad business it is unethical and you're stealing from my child and you should make it right so let's hope you do that tonight.

I'm really sad to give anyone this low of a rating... I'm the queen of 5 star reviews and supporting local business. However, I'm physically upset by the way I was just treated and want to give others the heads up. The way I was treated went from super salesy pitch (but I love hot yoga and hot pilates) to getting yelled at... all before I ever stepped foot inside this location. Here's what happened: I was over the moon and ready to sign up, along with my husband, after the trial I had scheduled for 6:45 today. I couldn't schedule anything earlier because of work. Yesterday, I explained that I couldn't get to the location until 6:30 this evening, so Meg signed me up for a 6:45 class. My hubby and I were pumped. Fast forward to this afternoon, when we got a reminder text that said 5:45, so I called to try to get the time adjusted. Meg, who I spoke with the yesterday answered, and I tried to explain there was a time mix up. Instead of listening to me, she talked over me... continually interrupted me and didn't listen to a word I was saying. She just kept telling me I had to be there 15 minutes early to sign paperwork, to which I kept saying, yes I understand that but we need to push an hour... for whatever class you have available. This cycle eventually lead to her yelling at me that she "didn't have time for this" because she was "busy with an event." I said, you know what I guess we won't come and she said, "yeah, that's for the best" and hung up on me. I am just in utter shock that this just happened, but my husband, who heard the whole conversation, pointed out that we just dodged a bullet. So, I hope this is an enigma for other's experiences because that was just weird.

OMG! I just left and my 15 min workout was AHmazzzing!! Im in love with the Hot Thunder! I know im def losing the weight this month for sure! Gave my contact info to get some more info once they first opened, but the man who called me was very inconsiderate (I believe his name was Sam). I told him multiple times that it wasn't a good time to talk but he wouldn't quit asking me questions and trying to tell me details about the gym, he wasnt listening to me at all. Got a chance to speak with the owner Margaret , she is so passionate about her work, her dedication to health, working out, and family. The pricing for all the amenities at this facility is out of this world. For all the things you recieve it is super cheap. they state of the art rooms and equipment there. And a bonus is its a 24 hour gym so you will not be crowded or have to feel intimidated. I give this new facility 5 stars I am looking for them to become the prime place to get fit here in lakeland.
