I had heard many good things about the performances of the International Dance Academy but never had the pleasure of attending one until recently. I was in for a real treat. I attended IDA’s May 10th performance at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts and was surprised to see nearly every one of the 1500 seats in the theatre filled. The young women and girls who graced the stage were elegant and graceful as they reveled in every moment on the stage. There were numerous stand-out performances but the one that moved me most was the young woman who danced the role of red riding hood. The classical training she has received at IDA was evident in her graceful movements and lines. I was truly impressed by the choreography of Artistic Director Deborah Buttner and Co-founder/Director Mary Buttner, keeping in mind the dancers were of a wide range in ages, choreographing for all of them must have been a real challenge. The second half of the performance saw the savannahs of Africa come to life with dancing gazelle, tigers, giraffes, elephants, zebras, water buffalo and other animals. The dancers mimicked the movements of the animals to a lovely backdrop of lively percussive music. I was surprised to learn all of the animal headpieces were designed and handmade at IDA. The night was truly a feast for the senses and I’m really looking forward to the next performance. Job well done!

My two sisters and I were fortunate to begin our ballet training with Ms. Debbie and Ms. Mary prior to their opening of IDA. We continued under their direction for 13 years until our family relocated. Hard work is rewarded. Laziness and complacency are not tolerated. The ballet training I received allowed me to take class at any studio around the world and be recognized for my high-level of technique. It truly is a pre-professional academy.

In addition to the ballet education taught, Ms. Mary and Ms. Debbie prioritize instilling morals and values, a strong work ethic and building a familial environment. They went above and beyond just being our ballet instructors.

I have been part of the IDA family for over 18 years. My daughter started dancing when she was 13 and now her daughter, my granddaughter is a ballerina in training. I had the honour to train at IDA for 5 years in my youth. This school and the IDA family created the woman, dancer, choreographer and mother I am today. I really recommend IDA. My daughters have been almost 10 years and not only them love the academy but also the teachers and all IDA staff. For them and including us as parents IDA is as a second home. Everyone is like a another family. The level all the academy is super high, outstanding teachers, their commitment with the girls are unique and all the good values and discipline that the girls learn is invaluable. RAD examinations and the shows are outstanding.

My three daughters have been attending classes at IDA for 7 years, I have to talk about not only of the professionalism of teaching and the aptitude of their teachers, but also the family environment where they grow, learn and recreate. The quality of their shows is exceptional, exposing them from an early age to art in a respectful and caring environment. It is one of the few schools in the south of Floria that offers the training and the examination of the Royal Academy of Dance, allowing them an international level in their discipline. Since the beginning of the pandemic, all its staff have made a big effort to maintain the classes in the same standard in which they have been given, being able to offer them online or in person, this has been a great help for my girls.

IDA is THE best classical ballet school in Broward County and beyond. The affiliation and preparation for the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus examinations surpasses any experience a young ballet student could have. In addition, the academy gives their students a professional ballet training experience which includes discipline, performance opportunity, integrity and grace. It is truly the finest and most professional school for classical ballet training in the area. A true gem!

My daughter spent four years at IDA and is an older student. Positives are the ability to participate in the Nutcracker and to study towards RAD exams. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives in many respects. The culture at IDA is not pleasant. The teaching, particularly within the ownership tends to focus on those few identified as "favorites", with all others treated in an often unkind and sometimes cruel manner. My experience as a parent volunteer was just as bad, with some of the production management's behavior being so appalling that I stopped volunteering at all (although I understand this particular member of the production management is no longer with the company). The ballet instruction is good, and it's increasingly rare to find a studio where ballet is the focus and dancing competitively is not required to progress. This, RAD and the Nutcracker are the reasons for three stars, but if you have an older child and want their self-esteem to be encouraged and enriched by extracurricular activities, IDA is not the best place to achieve that.

Went for trial class. Got there and front desk was empty. I had to go into an office to ask about the class. The lady, Diane, told me to wait and she would show me to the class and it started at 4. 4oclock came, then 4:02 then 4:05 then 10 after and that lady just kept passing by me and ignoring me! I had to go and look for the class myself. Class was good and professional but I overhead a mom tell another mom that all girls had to do the recital in May and pay for it or sell tickets at $35 each. When I went to ask for tuition fees Diane didn't tell me this but I asked her if it was true. She informed me, with an attitude, that recital is $500, which you have to pay unless you sell tickets. My 5 year old wants to do ballet, I don't know if she wants to do it professionally. I assume this dance school is a professional academy, hence the prices. I pass...Will try something else until I know my kid is serious about it. $500 for the recital?! Plus $65 a month...Wow!

Attended The Nutcracker performed by the International Dance Academy students at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts. To say that it was magnificent is an understatement! The costumes and settings were beautiful but it was the performance of the students that still has me amazed. These dancers perform at a level of beauty and professionalism that can surely compete with any professional dance troop performing at Rockefeller Center. I am still stunned at the brilliance and applaud Deborah Squeri and Mary Buttner with their most capable staff for the absolutely incredible job they do in training these dancers to perform at the highest level of excellence. Thank you for your willingness to invest your time and talent in the students entrusted to your charge.

This school is SO FANTASTIC!!! This year's performance of the Nutcracker at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts was AMAZING!! I took my Mother , who has seen ballets GALORE.. She is 85..... And she was SO IMPRESSED with the quality of the dancers and the sets and especially the Choreography!! SO PROFESSIONAL all the way around!! The dancers are trained so well!!! IDA was, and continues to be, my home away from home for the last 13 years. This is an excellent studio, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wishes for their child to be part of a high-quality dance environment.

Most obviously, the dance education offered at IDA is superb. Through both the normal technique classes and the RAD examinations, all students at IDA will grow and excel as dancers. The most foundational technique is emphasized at all levels to emphasize clean, technically proficient dancing. Now, while getting back into ballet after college, I've received compliments about the cleanliness of my ballet technique and questions about where I have trained (despite being several years out of practice! Solid foundational skills stick). The studio has sent dozens of girls to well-known summer ballet programs (Boston Ballet, Houston Ballet, Ellison Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, and more), has consistently seen exceptional and unusually high scores and pass rates in their RAD examinations, and has sent several dancers on to professional ballet companies.

When I was performing in shows, I was always impressed with the level of care and concern put into the casting of roles. In order to create a special experience for every dancer, new and different roles were created almost yearly in order to create a roster that best showcases each individual dancer's talent. Hard work in the studio is noticed and duly rewarded at all levels of skill.

The warm yet disciplined environment created at IDA by Mary and Debbie Buttner promotes personal growth for each pupil. I've learned many life skills from my time at IDA: the irreplaceable value of daily, consistent hard work, the personal strength required to work through discouragement, the incredible value of teamwork, the way one person's actions positively or negatively affect all those around them, and much more. These skills certainly helped me to grow as a dancer; but perhaps more importantly, they've helped me in my life outside of dance to be able to achieve my personal, academic, and career goals to date.

Lastly, I can't emphasize enough the significance of the community created at IDA. This is much more than a dance school, this is a family and a home to all those who pass through it's doors. I've both experienced and witnessed so many dear friendships created at IDA, and feel lucky to be part of the family! Mary and Debbie, in particular, are lovely, warm-hearted women who run the studio with care, passion, and endless energy. They have been huge mentors and role models to me as I've grown up, and I have been welcomed back with huge hugs when I've come back to visit.

Enrolling your child at IDA will guarantee their improvement as a dancer, their personal growth, and that they will join a close-knit community where they will be able to feel that they are a part of something important. It would be an excellent decision for your child.

If I could give IDA 10 stars, I would certainly do that. How dissapointing reading the last two negative reviews. As a parent that has been at the studio for 4 years I can assure all new prospects and parents this is by far, the BEST ballet studio in South Florida.

My daughter is 7 years old and has been at the studio since she was 3 years old with the same dance instructors, same families, same friends, same policies and procedures.
As an owner of two large preschool facilities in SouthFlorida, I have always stressed the importance of "quality" at my centers or any center that serves young children. "Quality" is defined by one word, PASSION. When there is passion, there is vocation, a natural ability to deliver a service with love and affection. Mrs Mary, the owner, is the perfect example, what an inspiration and privilege to have our little girls exposed to such talent and gift she has!
Every instructor, including the owners Mrs Mary and Mrs Debbie,the families, the students, ALL make this place such a wonderful place for our children. Because there is passion, genuine vocation, high standards, ethical and professional values, and more importantly "attention to detail" to deliver a top quality ballet program for our children.
As parents, we have a choice, the choice to select which program represents the best fit for our children. Unfortuanately today, our society face the sad reality where many parents rush to take decision without researching or taking their time to assess quality, and ask all questions necessary PRIOR to exposing their children to a program.

IDA is a professional ballet studio with high standards and expectations. Prices and specific details are given with time and precision, and no hidden information or surprise-last minute fees has ever been experienced. That is NOT true.

But i tell you what it is true. The studio offers a structured, well defined traditional classical ballet program for those selective parents that look for consistent discipline, talent, and more importantly long term friendships among the students.

There is a fine line between "using a stern" tone of voice when disciplining children, and "yelling". The instructors Do NOT yell, they discipline their students with respect and assertion.
But, if you are looking for a dance studio where students run around without proper supervision and loud, then this is not the place for your child. Re-direction has been the discipline approach chosen by this center, modeling postive behavior to its students and families.
I respect everyone's opinion, but I cannot tolerate parents that take one second of their time to offend, and create false statements about a business that has no other intention than making a positive impact and difference in young childrens' lives.

Take your time to visit and tour this wonderful facility, you won't be dissapointed. Attend one of their two shows at the Coral Springs Performing Arts every year, and experience the "reality" of IDA by yourself.

International Dance Academy is in a league of its own when it comes to classical ballet training. They offer a perfect hybrid of a disciplined yet loving environment for young dancers to excel. The International Dance Academy (IDA) offers a beautiful & loving environment for a young dancer to learn classical ballet. This family owned and operated studio is filled with caring teachers who are either current or former professional dancers. Unlike other studios, IDA showcases the talents of their dancers in two professional company style shows each year. Only one of the two shows are mandatory. These spectacular shows are performed at The Coral Springs Performing Arts Center and feature beautiful backdrops, costumes props and guest professional ballet dancers. IDA is one of the few studios that offer young dancers the opportunity to study and take the Royal Academy of Dance Examinations. My daughter has been a student at IDA for 3 years and she as made huge strides as a dancer thanks to IDA. I highly recommend the studio.

Tigercat was right, these people are GREEDY! Can you believe that they are forcing us to buy 10 tickets for $300!!!! And there is a recital fee, rehearsal fee, t-shirt fee, and we are required to buy $100 worth of ads! I never heard of such a thing. Greedy, greedy, greedy!!!
