The greens are still terrible but that's not my big gripe here. We showed up just before 10 am to check in, the bar/restaurant was not even open yet and we walked in to check in and my brother had an energy drink in his hand. Two women wearing Classy Chics shirts who are now contracted to run the bar and food were sitting at the bar going over paperwork turned and told my brother he needed to leave because he couldn't have that in here. He said oh this is an energy drink, she said it don't matter there's no outside food or drink. He said oh I'm just checking in and leaving but they still made him leave the building. Mind you all the chairs in the building were on top of the tables, and the place was clearly not open. Why did the city hire such rude people to run their bar?
Also, we went out and they had a course ranger to check us in and make sure we all went out properly which was nice but we got stuck behind a larger group playing very slow and another ranger came by and watched a couple holes as several groups got stuck behind them and the course was wide open in front of them and decided not to say anything. Why have any rangers if they aren't going to do anything?

For $50 it was awful. How can you pay a green fee for greens like this? Fairways were a lot better but couldnβt putt on many of the greens. Overbooked as well with no ranger to keep pace of play going which caused huge backups. The holes were still fun but some tee boxes were too close to the greens of the hole behind you, which wasnβt always safe. Only giving 2 stars because the staff was nice and the range was good. Still had fun but wouldnβt play for more than $20.

Pro shop staff was nice, fairways were pretty well kept however the greens on most holes were destroyed, none existent and all sand. Luckily, a worker sparked up a conversation in the parking lot while loading up a big and warned us about the greens so we werenβt fully surprised.
Was a bit disappointed the pro shop didnβt mention it though, and for $50/round, I wouldnβt go back.

Greens? Never seen them. There are 18 holes surrounded by beach. Be sure to bring your favorite sand wedge so you can putt.
The spot has potential, but at this point in time the cost does not justify the beach trip that we were sent on.
Management did say that the irrigation system was fixed 2 weeks ago and it would take time for the greens to grow back.
I mostly mad that I just forgot my sandcastle making kit at home.

1 star given for the outdoor environment and nature atmosphere. All other aspects of the course are terrible. We had to wait past our tee time because a group of 6 was allowed before us. Not to mention the ranger, was very rude in the way he inspected the carts to ensure there were two sets of clubs in the cart, no coolers regardless of what beverages were inside. I respect the rules and plan to follow them accordingly however being polite and enforcing the rules is not his strong suit. Keep in mind there are no beverage carts on the course and the rules on the cart only say βno outside alcohol allowedβ. He strictly and rudely enforced the rules. He still questioned my drink bought from the bar. The βgreensβ are more like dirt and patches of sand. At the first hole, the cup was 1/2 in above the ground. Ant mounds on the greens, bare spots on the fairway and we have only made it to the 3rd hole. No wonder this place is going out of business. We will not be returning here and suggest others visit Turkey Creek instead.

Can't speak for how it used to be. I guess they had water issues which is unfortunate. Worst greens I've ever seen. They are none existent nothing green about them. Sand and hard dead grass

Im giving two stars due to the fairways, but the most important area - the greens- are horrible, this is a problem that been having going on for years, play this week and I mean they are so bad shape that one or two are only dirt; now, why do not invest on redoing the greens for once and for all.

Update:
Eric, The supervisor reached out and we spoke. I will come back a little later to try this course again.
if you feel like a bunch of kids playing the sand trap while youβre trying to hit the ball, or random people literally hitting opposite direction of the tea while youβre trying to go to the tea, this is the place for you! The dude almost hit us with the ball and he just walked on by like itβs a normal thing. This place is an absolute dump. I donβt know why I I keep playing here. $43 a person for this!? the bar is even close. What a dump.
I told one of the employees that works here. Thereβs a guy playing into peopleβs faces and he said yeah I guess the driving range is broken, and laughed.

Potential to be a really nice course, seems like a change in mgmt or something. Had a sign hanging in the Pro shop stating a top course... in 2008. Only 1 bathroom open had a washer/dryer machine in it? Other one was closed and under construction. No food, no drinks. So plan ahead.
For the price you pay, you'd expect a lot more. The "greens" were unputtable. Golf cart seats had duct tape holding them together. Overall, if you are desperate you are still able to golf. But know what you are walking into.

My husband golfs here weekly, usually by himself. Inevitably, he will get behind a group of women who absolutely refuse to let him play through. All the waiting just kills his game and it's so frustrating. Isn't it universally accepted etiquette to let a single play through? Or is Gainesville special?

I would give this course 4 stars, because the course is pretty good. Greens were decent and fairways good.
The one big thing was they let a group 8 people play and that group would not let anyone go through, and we were two groups behind them and we have 10 people behind us. I tried calling the course three times and no one ever answered.
It was a bit disappointing but other than that it was a good course.

Wonderful municipal golf course. Are there private clubs with better courses? I'm sure there are. But the course is nice, the natural setting is beautiful, the staff are friendly, and it's very affordable: walk 9 during the week for $20 or so, $25 on the weekends.

Play there once or twice a week, course has its ups and downs, water drainage,greens....but what starts my morning off is the rude ,discouragement by the retail staff member, her name starts with a " B". Probably the single worst golf course ever played - conditions and course upkeep are terrible. Greens are rutted, fairways not much better. The only thing in good condition was the golf cart paths. Only went to the range. $12 for 100 balls is a great deal. Balls were mostly a mismatch of new and old rangeballs and some old real balls.
Range is off mats under an awning. Mats are in pretty bad shape, Iβd recommend hitting off the βroughβ of the mat.
Range is also open till around 8PM with lights, and the last call for range balls is 7PM.
Overall a solid range, especially for the price and hours.

My friends and I (four of us total) golfed at 3pm today. We are on the 18th hole green putting, and all of the sudden I got hit on the ankle by a golf ball from the foursome teeing off. This golf ball hit me hard enough where I even fell on the floor. I look back and the foursome included the Ironwoodβs starter golfing as well. Absolutely unbelievable that I was hit by the foursome golfing with the starter. How does Ironwood have employees that are allowing their friends to hit others with golf balls? I can not believe Ironwood allows this type of conduct and I will never return to this course. I wouldnβt recommend this course with the lack of professionalism and etiquette to anyone. My ankle is still swollen.

First off our tee time started late because they were behind. Then the fairways were hard as rocks. The greens were rough. On the 4th hole my husband was almost hit by another golfer as we were leaving hole. No coolers or ball washers any where. Drink cart took my debit card & never brought it back. Found at the clubhouse not knowing it was going to be there. Felt rushed on the whole course because people were back to back. On the 12th hole I was almost hit twice by balls. No golf etiquette at all. People skipping holes. Will not return nor will I recommend. For the price it was very disappointing.

Easily one of the worst courses I have had the displeasure to frequent. Range is always closed for random reasons, no one is ever in the pro shop, takes forever to get any range balls or a tee time, greens are horribly inconsistent, fairways are Swiss cheese, and itβs absurdly expensive for being in Gainesville. Ironwood has repeatedly swindled me of my time and money and I canβt fully express my displeasure with this horrendous scam of a golf course. Never go to this place. Just go to Turkey Creek.

I'm very new to golf. Ironwood offers a great driving range and a nice short game practice area. The other golfers have so far been respectful, and one of them helpful. Grounds from what I've seen seem to be well maintained. I've only used the driving range so far but hope to be able to play a 9hole soon, will update the review when that time comes. 4.50 for 35balls and 8 for 70. I haven't ordered a large yet haha. I like driving most of it and when I get down to the last 12 I practice short and then drive em off when I'm do e.

Ladies working the bar/check-in are always rude. They have absolutely no sense of customer service. Range is nice and open late, but the balls are a little expensive. Nice people but greens are in bad shape. Overall course is pretty rough but still a decent place to play. Driving range is in hard shape with worn out mats and balls that they should be embarrassed to sell at the price - $8 for a medium and $12 for a large bucket. Told the course was cart path only. No issues as itβs been wet. At least 5 times during our round marshals drove on fairways and on at least 2 occasions severely marked the fairway doing so. It appeared at least 2 marshals were looking for lost golf balls.
Furthermore, when hitting on multiple occasions marshals stopped in clear view about 100 yards in front of the tees. Aggravating at best and dangerous at worst.
This course has way to many management issues for me.

Great corse, city owned and i would have to say city managed. A short corse. Extremely easy to play. Fun course. It is taken care of. I would not consider this a absolutely amazing course due to the up keep. But I would say its managed nicely. They have electric carts. Liquor bar. 18 holes and a driving range. If you want more of a challenging course try. Meadowbrook on the other side of town. But they have their negatives gas carts. ( slow, doesn't go fast enough to cool you off on a hot day) its a long course. 6500ft so its a Extremely fun course. Lots of hazards. But they need to hire a new maintenance guy. Grass is weirdly mowed. Also water hazards are drained and has some crab grass growing through. But that could be to not being allowed to fertilize the grounds this year. But none of that messed with the game play.

I had two events at Ironwood one a baby shower and the other was my daughterβs first birthday party! With both events it was hard to get in contact with Erin Iβm guessing because she has other things going on outside of her job at Ironwood. When booking the first event she had put the wrong date for baby shower in which she gave us a discounted price for the misunderstanding. I was very grateful and moving forward the event went very well and the staff helped out with everything! My next event which was 13 months later was a different story. Again, Erin was hard to get in contact with. Doing my deposit was hard because of our schedule and what days she is actually in the office. I had to hire my own decorator due to the previous one (who did my baby shower) not being available on the date. The previous decorator is someone Erin likes and is use to working with. My first event Erin was very helpful, pleasant, and convenient to any concerns I had. She even sent out a reminder email and gave me a call a few days before my event. My second event was like night and day she was very rude and inconsiderate to myself and my decorator. It came to the point I was about to cancel a week before her party. Erin and myself got in a verbal disagreement about her behavior. I ended up contacting her boss Jeff! Erin didnβt treat me like a returning customer nor did she show any kind of respect to my decorator. After speaking with Jeff Erin was upset because people had been canceling at the last minute and not paying their fees for their event. I did end up having her party but I wouldnβt book with Ironwood if I would have to deal with Erin she lacks communication skills and any kind of empathy towards future and returning customers!

Iβve played at this course several times now, and let me say itβs more than worth the price you pay for 9-18 holes. Not to mention drinking beer on the course is allowed. Just be courteous as to not leave bottles and trash behind. The driving range is nice and spacious and the ball flight is easy to track once struck off the practice tees. Clubhouse staff is very nice and quick with service, not to mention the clubhouse food is great as well. The burger being my favorite after 18 holes. The greens roll anywhere between a 8-10 speed, and are well maintained. Especially with how difficult it is to maintain greens in Florida. Fairways are also nice and open. Course difficulty is definitely moderate. If youβre looking for a good golf course for the price, go here for sure. Also itβs a good course for beginners as well.
Sincerely,

Very pleased with this beautiful course and it's exceptional staff. My fiance and I have even chosen Ironwood's business center as the venue for our wedding in September, so Ironwood will always have a special place in our hearts. Love what these folks are doing. Keep up the awesome work! ππͺποΈββοΈβ³οΈ

Did a really great job on the reno from over the years. The course stays in pretty decent shape for how much it gets used. They do offer a veterans discount (they give u the senior rate) but you have to ask them for it. Green fees are decent and they do have cart service on the course as well.

Very nice course. Today at 6 PM no one was in front of me. I had the course all to myself. WONDERFUL!!!

Course is a good " All else fails" when everybody is booked course. Fairways are ok, but greens need alot of work. Typical city course that needs some aggressive grounds keeping done thanks to all the people driving on the course when it's wet.

Poor management. Too many dollars have been thrown at that course for it to not be doing any better for itself. The actual course looks okay (right now) but the business side has always struggled. I would love to see it thrive.

A bit over priced for the quality of the course but also better than about half of the courses in town

Course is in real good shape. Heavy rain rain last night and not very much on the course this morning. Also great staff helping with the Bobcat Football Golf Tournament.
