Jamz Trainings provides personal fitness workout programs as well as Clinical & Structural Bodywork, Sports Massage Therapy and Relaxation.
Our personal trainers create a fun, but challenging, atmosphere during your exercise program.
Our therapist are knowledgeable in the scientific movement patterns of the body, how to identify muscle pains and dysfunctions, and then how to manipulate soft tissues, neuromuscular and myofascial structures, so that you can move and perform at peak performance.

My first couple massages with James not only left me relaxed, but also opened my chest in a way that let me breathe more freely than I have in years. James is naturally gifted and seems to know exactly what I need each session, but also brings a great deal of clinical knowledge to the table. I was having a great deal of knee pain. I could barely put any weight on my leg. I went to see James and was completely pain free the next day. He knew exactly what was causing the problem and focused his efforts on releasing the tightness in my leg muscles so the pain and swelling would disappear. Awesome!

James is an amazing personal trainer. I’ve been working with him for over 6 months. I had knee surgery years ago resulting in a lot of exercise restrictions. James had no issues creating workouts tailored to work around my restrictions. I can now do a lot of exercises that I didn’t think I’d ever be able to do again. I’ve definitely gotten much stronger and fitter since I started with him. He keeps it interesting by making the workouts different.

I really enjoyed my workouts with James -- he's very knowledgeable and friendly, and works with both professional athletes and ordinary folks like myself who want to get into better shape. James' workouts will push you to your limits but I didn't ever feel overwhelmed and certainly didn't get injured. In the past I've struggled with back pain and joint pain from playing sports but this never happened after any of my workouts with James. James is professional and knows what he's doing.

James of Jamz Trainings is the one! If you're looking for a workout regimen that will be the same ol' thing every time... you're looking in the wrong place. James switches it up every single time, while still making sure he tailors it all to your goals! I've been training with James for almost 2 years now, at FitEvolution on Piedmont Ave in Oakland, and I have never experienced the same workout routine twice. That's important to me because I get bored with monotony pretty quickly. Actually, I originally only planned to do a 2-3 month program with him. But the workouts were too fun to stop! Highly, highly recommend booking a trial session with him!

I have been working out with James for over a year, and I have had a great experience. My weekly workouts are tailored to my overall goals (e.g., to get shredded, to strengthen my stabilizers) and to my short term goals (e.g., to look good in a crop top around people from college I would be seeing for the first time in 10 years). James is very adept at creating a workout that matches my energy for the week - sometimes I need to ease back into exercise after a vacation, and sometimes I want to leave the gym feeling like I might die - no matter what, I always feel like I've had a great workout and like it was exactly what I needed. It is also very easy to schedule times with James, and he is generous and flexible with his availability.

Additionally, Fit Evolution is a great community gym with awesome trainers and clientele. 100% recommend Jamz Trainings and Fit Evolution!

Kettlebella Diary

I started training again after a break from my workout routine stretched into weeks – OK, years. My first goal was to walk through the front door of a gym and meet with a trainer. Lucky for me the gym was Fit Evolution and the trainer was Jamz. After a free consultation Jamz created an individualized plan for my fitness level (let’s just call it ‘spectator’) so I gave myself a b-day present: 3 months of semi-private training. Jamz is a true professional who sees potential in every client, so it wasn’t too long before his healthy dose of encouragement plus weights, cardio, flex, balance & rkc in endless combinations started to pay off. I’ve been a client of Jamz for about 4 years now and my fitness level continues to rise (this week I did a 210lb deadlift!) and I'm moving up in kettlebell sport. Every kettlebell competition begins with the question, ‘Athletes are you ready?’ and thanks to Jamz I am.

So it’s been two months since I’ve signed up with James and let me just say inches are gone, pounds are gone AND stress is at bay. I’ve worked with other trainers before, both men and women and the crucial difference with James is his attention to detail and knowing what each client responds to. This is not a cookie cutter zone out training session. Training with James is focused, detailed and result driven as I’ve seen and I’m feeling my results of weightloss, increased flexibility and strength. Over the last 2 months, a couple days each week no training session has been the same. This has kept me alert and ready to push myself each time. I also appreciate the fact that James prepares before I even arrive. When I get there, a dry erase board is already set with my workout of the day...from start to finish. I’ve worked with trainers in the past who seemed to be ‘winging it’ and saying ‘ok do this next’. Or trainers who are stuck on their phones not paying attention. Training with James I know my form will be corrected and he knows what to look for to prevent injuries.
On top of all of this James is a true professional and he gently pushes and encourages, never a demeaning word or tone not drill Sargent style.
