I signed up for yoga in the garden with Victoria during a recent trip to Key West with my sister and friend. What a beautiful place to practice! We loved the plants and water surrounding the gazebo. I'm always so impressed by instructors who work in a busy tourist location -- it must take so much attention and patience to ensure that newcomers at various experience levels feel seen and supported alongside the studio regulars. Victoria led such a delightful class for all of us... I sure wish I was a regular! Thank you!

This is by far one of my favorite yoga studios I have ever practiced at across the country. It’s so beautiful, peaceful and calming. Every time I attend a class, it always feels like just what I needed. The instructors are welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable, and I love how much emphasis is placed on community giving and inclusiveness. They also host wonderful workshops, ecstatic dance gatherings, and sound baths. This space is truly a gem, and such a huge asset for Key West.

In the sultry heart of Old Town Key West, where the scent of frangipani mingles with salt air and the distant thrum of Duval Street dissolves into whispered mantras, lies a sanctuary that redefines the very notion of sacred space. The Key West Yoga Sanctuary at 612 Fleming Street emerged from the crucible of 2020's upheaval—not as mere adaptation, but as alchemy.
What owner Erika Hawks created when forced outdoors by pandemic restrictions was nothing short of revelatory: an open-air shala that transforms yoga from exercise into pilgrimage. Here, beneath a rustic thatched pavilion, practitioners unfurl their mats on sun-warmed teak as emerald curtains of foliage create nature's own temple walls.
The sensory immersion begins before your first breath. Dappled sunlight filters through dense canopies of bougainvillea and bird of paradise, casting dancing shadows across weathered wood. The air itself seems sanctified—thick with tropical humidity that makes each inhale deliberate, purposeful. Palm fronds rustle overhead like prayer flags in an ancient monastery, while the occasional gecko's chirp punctuates the silence between Sanskrit invocations.
This is yoga as the ancients intended: not in sterile studios but in communion with the living earth. The wooden deck, polished smooth by countless bare feet, radiates stored warmth even in dawn's earliest light. Your skin drinks in the moisture-laden air as muscles yield more readily to poses that might resist in air-conditioned confinement.
Hawks, whose clear cuing earned devotees long before the move outdoors, has cultivated something beyond mere asana instruction. Her philosophy embraces yoga's eight limbs fully—pranayama sessions where breath synchronizes with trade winds, meditation where the mind stills to match the garden's own quiet pulse. The classes feel less like fitness routines than guided explorations into presence itself.
The studio's origin story—necessity birthing beauty—infuses every session with poignant meaning. What began as crisis management became Key West's most authentic yoga experience, proving that sometimes the universe conspires to create exactly what we need, precisely when we need it.
During a recent morning flow, as my warrior pose aligned with shafts of golden light piercing the canopy, I understood why reviewers invoke Bali when describing this place. It possesses that rare quality of tropical mysticism—the sense that spiritual practice and sensual experience need not be separate pursuits.
The inclusive atmosphere welcomes newcomers alongside seasoned practitioners. Drop-in classes ($25) and donation-based community sessions ensure accessibility, while the studio's commitment to "seva"—selfless service—permeates every interaction.
In a destination known for its mindless hedonistic pursuits, the Key West Yoga Sanctuary offers something more transcendent: the chance to discover that paradise isn't just a place you visit, but a state you cultivate. Here, amid rustling palms and morning bird song, transformation feels not just possible but inevitable.

I was really looking forward to my session at this yoga studio, but unfortunately, the experience left me disappointed. My appointment started late, and no one acknowledged the delay or offered any kind of accommodation for the lost time. I understand that things can run behind sometimes, but clear communication and a little courtesy would have gone a long way. The space itself seemed nice, and I was hopeful about the practice, but the lack of professionalism and accountability really impacted my overall impression. I hope they improve their scheduling and customer service in the future.

Amazing classes while I was on vacation! After a 12 hour travel day, the classes with Lauren and Erica were a perfect way to work out knots and aches. They were so welcoming and I felt right at home from walking in the doors. If you are looking for a yoga spot - this is it! Will definitely make it a regular spot on our next trip!

This was one of the most beautiful places I have ever done yoga. I was here for a week and did 4 different classes, all with different instructors and they were all lovely, heat building, healing yoga. All of the classes were held in the garden and it was serene and peaceful.

For the month of January I was visiting my brother in Key West when I found this amazing Yoga Sanctuary in an internet search. From the website and pictures I knew I had to go. My brother and I started with Amanda’s Yoga & Meditation on the third day of the new year which is EXACTLY what we both needed. From her soothing voice, to her gentle flow and energy, we were hooked! It feels so good to be outside surrounded by plants in the garden hearing all the noises of nature. Back home I am a Personal Trainer so it was a lovely month off unwinding by enjoying the variety of classes with different instructors including Erika, Natalia and Katherine, who are amazing at what they do. I’ve been to many studios but I have to say I’ve never felt more welcome, at home or peaceful as I do here. My brother who had never stepped into a yoga studio or class prior, ended up buying a package of classes and has already made it a healthy habit to continue weekly classes. I couldn’t be more thankful for your space, your community and the authenticity. I am back home in NY feeling refreshed and inspired. I am already looking forward to returning back soon and offering a workshop in this space. Timing is everything, I am so grateful I found this studio at a time when my brother and I both really needed it. This was the best way to spend the first month of the new year. I appreciate you all more than you know. See you soon! Lots of love ✨✨

On an island where the pursuit of unconsciousness is often the norm, the Key West Yoga Sanctuary offers a wonderful respite for those of us seeking alignment with our higher consciousness. The teachers provide outstanding, heart-centered instruction in a lush, tranquil setting. I purchased a seven day pass and used it gratefully during my stay. Thank you KWYS for enriching my visit. Namaste :)

I wanted to take a few beginner accessible yoga classes while in Key West. This place turned out to be very excellent. I signed up online, for three classes, every other day and enjoyed every minute. The setting is serene in a lush but clean shaded jungle garden out back of a beautiful house with a water feature providing soothing sound energy.
Victoria and Lauren were excellent teachers. I recommend both. My last class had a much smaller number of students so Lauren kindly took a little time to provide input on the poses so I can improve.
I am enjoying this yoga journey filled with learning, meditation, flexibility, strength and positive vibes. Life is good with Yoga Sanctuary!

The outdoor garden, gentle yoga class was truly the highlight of my vacation.
The practice space was nothing short of idyllic—so serene and welcoming. The sound of running water and the surrounding foliage created a natural barrier, shielding us from the noise of the outside world. It was the perfect setting for a deeply immersive experience.
Donna, our instructor, was exceptional. She led the class with a wonderful balance of authority and warmth, guiding us with clear and gentle instruction. It’s clear that she has a truly beautiful spirit.
Every aspect of this experience was positive. If you’re on the fence about attending a class, do yourself a favor and go! You won’t regret it.

I was working remotely in Key West for about 6 months at the end of 2023/beginning of 2024 and happened to find Key West Yoga Sanctuary while looking for a studio close to where I lived. I absolutely loved the space and my Friday night classes with Sofia (who was an amazing teacher!) became such an important part of my week. I highly recommend the studio to anyone who loves yoga and I am very grateful to have found it!

Key West Yoga Sanctuary has the most beautiful garden area and extraordinary instructors who offer a variety of classes. If the weather isn't great, they have an indoor location also. This hidden gem in old town, Key West, is such a gift to the community and visitors alike. They even have a small retail area with some very unique treasures.

If you’re seeking to infuse something more into your practice, this tropical heaven is for you! The variety of courses offered across the mind-body spectrum at KWYS is fantastic, as is its partnerships with community groups that provide a way for yogis to connect meaningfully. I only had the pleasure of experiencing three different instructors while in town, however I could not believe the new gifts I received to incorporate into my practice: Katherine's use of sutras & transitions, as well as the fun cardio kick that is BUTI; Lalita’s radiant energy and wildly awesome qi gong options/breathwork, as well as Sarka’s solid Kundalini foundation. I guarantee you there is something exceptional waiting for you at the KWYS.

Key West Yoga Sanctuary is a cozy yoga studio tucked just far enough behind Duval to create a peaceful oasis where you can find your true center and place to develop your practice for a yoga beginner and advanced yogi alike!
The three teachers I had the pleasure to work with are Gretchen, Natalia, Anne and they are all amazing teachers. They seem to know where you are in your practice and help guide the class accordingly. I felt heard, held, and had more courage to try new poses. Who knew I could do scorpion, crane, and hand stands in my first few classes?!
When I felt sore or had questions at the end of class, they were always willing to answer any of my questions, have suggestions, or recommend other classes or things I could do at home to help.
Such an authentic experience! With the guidance of this studio, I have taken my practice to a new level. Thank you, I will certainly be back!
