There drink machines will steal your money after the staff assures you that “it’s just a pending fee that will go away” then response is call Pepsi as if it’s your fault they have faulty machines on premises.

I recently have updated my review to five stars, as the machines no longer seem to be given that issue and the sauna has been completely redone and is very nice now also the staff seems to be putting in a lot more effort as the premises is much cleaner .

I began my fitness journey in September 2024 because I knew something had to change. I work a sedentary job, and the number on the scale just kept climbing. I told myself, “You’re two years from 50 and if you keep this up, you’re headed for a stroke or heart attack by 55.” I had never trained in a real gym before and was honestly pretty intimidated. I didn’t know what to expect or if I’d be the only out-of-shape guy surrounded by a bunch of jacked bodybuilders. But from the start, Katie and Erik were empathetic and supportive. They listened to my concerns and set me up with a trainer who showed me the ropes, explained proper form and helped me build a foundation.

At first, I wasn’t very consistent, just showing up a couple of times a week. But eventually, I made a choice: if I was going to do this, I had to commit. Since the beginning of 2025, I’ve been coming in every single day. I follow a focused 3-day split that hits every muscle group twice a week and I take an active rest day on Sundays with just cardio. I’ve also cleaned up my nutrition and stayed consistent. When I started, I was 244 pounds and well over 30% body fat. I’m now down to 220 and around 27 to 28% body fat. I’m still working toward my goal of 185, but I’m on my way.

As for the gym itself, it’s clean, well equipped and maintained, and never so crowded that I have to wait long for any machine or bench. The staff is always friendly, and the other members are respectful and focused. Overall, it’s been a top tier experience. Like anything in life, you get out of it what you put into it.

Visiting the area for a few weeks. I signed up for two months. I joined so that I could use the pool. The pool heater has been broken for weeks so I wasn't able to use it. After the 3rd week I told them I wouldn't be in for the third month, 3 days later I go to my credit card statement and see that I was charged for an annual fee. I was not told anything about an annual fee when I signed up. Extremely disappointed to say the least!

Update 2025: if you like a stinky gym, LA fitness is the place for you! This place while still well equipped and relatively pleasant, is really poorly maintained. There's gorilla tape and duct tape all over the carpet which is badly worn and stained in several areas. Worst of all, the place just stinks, I'm not sure that they ever Shampoo the carpets and the stench of human funk is sometimes bad enough that I just have to leave

2024: The place is spacious and generally not too noisy, except during rush hours. There is ample equipment and an excellent variety to choose from. There's also a basketball court, good sized swimming pool and Jacuzzi.
The only thing that keeps it from being five stars is the inadequate cleanliness. Not so much the rust or heavily worn areas at the base of machines as the stained and funky carpet. The floor cleaning schedule is clearly quite inadequate and therefore I'm reluctant to even use the mats.

Glad to be back at this LA Fitness after a 2 yr absence. Equipment and functional aspects are really good and I find the staff very competent and helpful. HOWEVER the situation with the pool is terrible. It's been down now for about 2 weeks and I kept hearing that they were waiting for an Electrician to come out - that took at least a week. Are you kiddin me!! Pool still down. So if the pool is an important part of package for prospective members ...think again!

Staff are amazing. Location is ideal but sometimes parking is a pain. Usually have to park way in the back and carry my son through a busy parking lot. (People need to be a little more aware when driving through parking lots) The day care is great, wish the time slot was a little longer. Sometimes the kids zone is busy and too many kids. I would rate this gym a 5 if it had better hygiene. The wipes they supply don’t actually clean. I haven’t used anything other than the gym equipment because of cleanliness. Not even the bathroom.

Horrible place. They have children playing on the workout floor. The sauna is rotten wood and water leaking everywhere. The manager insist on the brightest led bulb in the sauna rather than a slightly dimmer one. So people do not need sun glasses in the sauna. The equipment is decades old. Honestly, not a bad gym. I like working out there and I go practically every day. The staff is all nice and I feel welcomed.

🚨BUT!!!🚨 the men’s sauna is terribly dirty, funky and smelly AND seems to be getting worse every day. It’s almost unbearable — and with the amount of traffic it gets, something’s gotta give. The sauna is a huge attraction and one of the main reasons that I chose la fitness over the other gyms in the area.

The kids club is absolutely phenomenal. We've had issues that other gyms where the daycare workers just straight up ignore the children. Every time I drop off the kids they are so happy to play. And whenever I go back to pick them up they don't ever want to leave! This gym is also one of the cleanest ones I've been to. 10/10

Update: Ms. Nicole and Ms. Kara are the best of the best in the Kids Klub. They are the only reason I can get my kids out of the house in the morning. If they were to leave the gym and not come back I would 100% be cancelling my membership. We love them!

Kara and Nicole are absolutely wonderful! We drive, on average, 40 minutes to come to this location because of them! No joke! Truly we want to say thank you to everybody here! The staff are easy to talk to, if we ever have questions or concerns we are able to get them addressed right away, and the kids club/center is full of children who come from families like ours where the kids are encouraged to play together. Kara and Nicole both have helped us and our children through teething, separation anxiety, and they do it with a sincere respect and appreciation for the positive growth of our kids. The management at this club is dishonest, incompetent and complacent.
One of the things they often do not tell new members is that they charge $50 randomly and to your credit card for 'new equipment', but duct tape holds the cusions on machines and they have been trying for FIVE MONTHS to fix the spa. One excuse after another.

I have been a member of this gym for over 10 years. It is always clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The members of the gym are kind and respectful of one another. There is no loud shouting and dropping of weights. I usually go between 11:30 to 1:30 and the gym is not as crowded. It is easy to use the equipment and the machines. I have used by membership in other cities and have found the same things true in all of the LA Fitness clubs.

I have belong to several gyms and have worked out most of my life. LA Fitness in Atlantic Beach FL is by far the greatest club I have been to and the SPIN and Zumba classes are incredible. Thurs Spin @ 5:30 with Daniela V is the best Spin class I have ever attended. She incorporates the spin with upper body workout.

They purposely make it very hard to cancel your membership. Will only do it on weekdays if a manager is available. I even called ahead to make sure the manager was there and when I showed up they were nowhere to be found. They gave me an option to mail (not email) a cancellation request to their corporate office. I signed up for a year of personal training and told them at the year mark that I wanted to cancel going forward. They continued to charge me for another 6 months. Morgan, the operations manager, has helped to make the transition from LA Fitness to ESPORTA seamless. Morgan calmly handles issues with classes, gets equipment repaired quickly, and always is there to help. There are always instructor substitutes listed ahead of time for classes. Morgan and Eric at the front desk are always professional, friendly, and responsive, My children and I love going to the gym. It is very clean, has super instructors, and very nice people. My only wish is that they would add another Yoga class or two. Great job Morgan!

Had a good time using the facilities. However, when you wish to cancel your subscription, they refuse to do it unless a trainer is available. Furthermore, after signing the paperwork to cancel, they continued to charge me every month for the past year.
When I called to dispute the charges they said "sorry, although we see you signed a cancelation form in June of last year, it's been so long we can't really do anything. We can refund you for this month though."
If you value your money and time, use a different gym or work out at home. I will never pay for LA Fitness/Esporta ever again after being cheated out of hundreds of dollars...

Esporta Atlantic Beach is generally a good place. The equipment and facilities are good, as are the trainers and classes. Regarding the classes, however, a situation recently occurred that is very unfortunate. Instructor Cynthia, who had served the club for nine years in an exemplary way, resigned over the apparent inability or unwillingness on the part of the club to deal effectively with a disruptive class participant. This reflects poorly on the club, which should have found a way to address the interests of all concerned—not just the class participant in question but also the instructor and the many club members who are adversely affected by her departure (and who may themselves be canceling their membership as a result).
