Whoever was on staff tonight 11/29/25 locked the doors atleast 15min before closing time. I tapped the door a couple of times before the staff opened the door slightly to tell me "we're closing and clearing people out right now". That may be a true statement, but whats also a true is that I pay a monthly fee to get into the gym daily until the closing time. I should be allowed through the doors to use amenities until said closing time. This is crook behavior! Do better LA Fitness Gulf to Bay in Clearwater...

This is by far the best LA Fitness I’ve ever joined.
The gym is extremely clean, well maintained, and the staff is genuinely friendly.
Will, the manager, was incredibly welcoming and immediately understood what I needed.
He paired me with Roosevelt — a former NFL player and easily the best trainer I’ve ever worked with. In just two weeks, my body noticeably improved.
He trains every muscle with intention and even guides my daily nutrition.
Outstanding experience all around!
Everybody ask for Will and Roosevelt when you join!

i’ve been weightlifting and training for a very long time and have gone to many different gyms in many cities. I just moved here a few weeks ago and used to go to a different LA fitness in another city years ago and cancelled my membership a long time ago. I tried using a guest pass to this particular location so I could scope it out and see if I liked this particular LA gym. I understand that because I used to have a membership with this Corporate; guest passes can be a little finicky. But I’ve never been to this location and don’t have a tie to them. I tried using the three day guest pass by LA fitness so I could scope it out, but the person that attended to me did not allow me to work out there unless I purchased a membership right then and there and was in my opinion very pushy for a sale. I know my routine and I know what I like. Don’t be a pushy salesman just to try and get a sale for the day. Wouldn’t wanna come back here because of this experience. I want to see if I like the Gym first before I pay.

I signed up for 6 months of training with Willy, the head coach. The program included 2 sessions per month, and he promised me an additional 12 free sessions with him personally if I signed up for the 6 months. He even wrote this down on a piece of paper.
For the first 3 months, Willy was responsive and I received about 4 of the free sessions. But when I asked about the rest, he texted me saying: “I don’t usually continue to train after 3 months.” That was not our agreement, and it felt misleading.
Unfortunately, this seems like a tactic just to get people to commit to the 6-month membership, which was very disappointing.
Advice to others: Make sure everything is clearly written into the contract. If someone is offering additional free sessions, be sure it’s stated in the agreement—otherwise you may not receive what was promised.

Just joined a few months ago and I just cancelled it yesterday. The hours are always fluctuating, depending on the holiday, they moved all the kids zones to the Clearwater location and they have awful hours for it as well. For example, when I went in yesterday, as soon as I walked in with my kids, they told me kids club was closed and that they would close early in a few hours. Mind you their phone system only told me that they were closing early. This wasn’t the first time I’ve had issues like this with them. It’s hard to use services when they close early randomly, and they no longer have the 24 hour system most gyms have these days.

Been coming to this gym for a while now sadly they are closing the kids club early mornings starting SEPTEMBER 15 Monday -Thursday and closed FRIDAY AND SUNDAY , this is very disappointing as a long time member I’ve been recommending all my friends and family of not only how this gym is super nice but great for people who have little ones makes it easier for us parents who can only do mornings , only reason why I came back to esporta is because of the flexibility with the kids club , especially since it’s include in my membership very unpleasant how they are NOW changing their policies absolutely ridiculous!

I can not put to words how incredibly disgusting this pool is, long hair ended up on my arm twice, there is several pieces of trash floating in it, the filters literally do nothing as the bottom is littered with dirt and sand and God knows what else that can be seen floating in the water to the point I literally gagged mid swim and almost threw up. I pointed this out to the two guys up front and got the typical oh we have someone coming tomorrow. You mean to tell me this is normal for the city of Clearwater to deal with?
You should be absolutely ashamed of this filth. I'm from Orlando so I will never return as those facilities are literally all cleaner. I am horrified for the patrons of this facility and don't get me started on the bubble bath in the hot tub that should NOT look like it's filled with soap.

On vacation and wanted to get a workout in, under the age of 18 is not allowed to be in the gym. The hotel we stayed at did not have a gym but had memberships to come here, if you have teenagers look for somewhere else to go.

The safety seats at the pool and the hot tub that they use to get someone out of the pool in case of emergency, are covered in rust. In the men's room when I sat down my book bag on the bench I saw a roach crawling up and had to move my bag immediately for fear of it trying to crawl into it. And in the showers there were several tiny flies flying around and on the walls. They have definitely let the place go since I was there last about a year and a half ago. I have been using a different location and just came back to the Gulf to Bay area so I went to this one today and was utterly disgusted as to how bad they have let the place get to that kind of state. Something definitely needs to be done because it was very gross.

While i cant comment or respond to review that was left by Michael, i felt i had to write my own review. This place is amazing. The staff is amazing and friendly. I was actually at the club when the incident with this Michael occurred. He was 100% training someone and got caught doing it. As also someone whos been in the gym for 30 years, you cant go into a gym you dont work at and start training someone. Willie was extremely professional and respectful. This “man” was just upset he was caught and went into a defensive mode and was yelling and degrading this manager. He at one point wanted the manager to follow him outside. Dont listen to this one psycho who is upset that he cant train someone at the expense of another business. This LA is great and the staff is amazing. A++ for willies professionalism dealing with this manchild

A Disappointing and Disrespectful Experience
I came to LA Fitness today with one goal: to help motivate a friend who’s been struggling to stay consistent with her workouts. She had already said she was about to cancel her membership, so I offered to come with her, get her back on track, and maybe even sign up for a membership myself. That will no longer happen. Here’s why.
While we were warming up — literally just demonstrating and spotting each other on exercises — we were aggressively confronted by a trainer manager named Willy Fair. He physically inserted himself between us during our workout, with a confrontational posture and energy that felt completely unnecessary and unprofessional. There was no kindness, no curiosity, no attempt to understand what was happening — just an assumption and intimidation.
Mind you, I wasn’t charging anyone or conducting business. I was demonstrating an exercise, then doing it alongside my friend. We were spotting each other, the same way countless gym partners do every single day. I’ve worked out with friends at other LA Fitness locations — including Lakewood Ranch — and have never had an issue. Staff there always understood we were workout partners, not part of any paid training session.
This experience was not only a personal trigger but one that left me feeling deeply disrespected. I will not be intimidated by someone based on their position, stature, or insecurity. Whether it was Willy’s ego or poor leadership training, it was unacceptable.
To make matters worse, when I called to speak with the club manager, John Jennings, he doubled down, saying that if we are seen demonstrating an exercise or correcting form, we will be asked to leave. That’s not supportive. That’s a thinly veiled tactic to push sales while keeping usage down and auto-debits rolling.
As someone who’s been in gyms for nearly 30 years, I can confidently say: this is a dying business model. Members want to feel encouraged, seen, and welcomed — not manipulated or policed. This could’ve been an opportunity to gain two new loyal members. Instead, you lost one and earned this honest review.
If you value community, growth, and respectful treatment — I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

Good gym but there seems to be a kid issue. Today at peak traffic (around 6 pm time) there's a child on the treadmills no older than 7 or 8. I don't typically mind kids but why is there a child taking up equipment when it's busy? There's already so many adults using the treadmills, now kids? This is not the first time someone under 13 was using equipment either. As a paying adult who already has to come when it's busy, it's obnoxious they are letting kids in when they shouldn't. Other than that great experience!

I’m going to this location for 2 years and I love it. Would like to make special recognitions to my favorite employees: Shaka( front )- great customer service, always make us feel welcome, Zolarys( Ms. Z), Ms. D , Kendall ( kids zone) - my kids love to spend time with them, Ms. Lynn and Ms. Selena are my favorite Zumba instructors. Had a very interesting and quite disappointing experience this morning. I recently moved from Illinois to Florida and wanted to get a 3-day trial to see if my husband and I liked this gym. We have lived in Florida for two weeks now and I have everything under the sun changed to our Florida address. However, this address is temporary as we are renting until we purchase a house, which we are planning to do in the next few months. I was told nothing about being required to have an active FLORIDA license prior to showing up, prior to my tour around the gym. After touring and chatting with Will, he informed me that I have to have a Florida license in order to be put in the “system “. My options were to purchase a membership without ever using the gym, or buy a one day pass. I told him I could show him all of my information that has been changed, I’m not trying to work the system, and there was nothing that he could do. Pretty ridiculous coming from a corporation that should be able to enter in an Illinois license and then adjust it when that former Illinois resident gets their new FLORIDA license. I guess I’m more upset that I wasted an hour of my time. I have even received a text confirmation of the time I was scheduled to show up for my appointment, I was given no requirements. If there’s no way around this, that should be stated in all communication when setting up a 3-day trial pass……In my opinion.

I’ve truly enjoyed coming to this gym for the past three years. It’s become a part of my daily routine, and I’ve always felt welcomed and supported here. Siri, in particular, has been an absolute angel—my daughter loves her, and I always feel a huge sense of relief and trust knowing she’s watching over the kids. Her presence alone has been a big reason I’ve remained such a loyal member, and I’ve even recommended this gym to many others because of the positive experience we’ve had.
However, I feel compelled to update my previous review after an unfortunate encounter today. A woman who introduced herself as either the district manager or VP (wearing a star on her forehead) created a very uncomfortable and unprofessional atmosphere during her visit. I watched her interrupt and distract Siri while she was actively supervising the children, which compromised the calm and safe environment that Siri works so hard to maintain.
She also told me that children are not allowed to stay in the Kids Club for more than one hour, which contradicts LA Fitness’s stated policy of a two-hour maximum. This misinformation, combined with her harsh tone and the way she barked orders at the staff, was disappointing and upsetting to witness.
I want to be clear—this doesn’t reflect the experience I’ve consistently had with the rest of the staff, who are always friendly, professional, and kind. But today’s interaction left me feeling disrespected as a member and concerned for the staff who clearly deserve better treatment.
I truly hope this is addressed internally, because I’d be heartbroken to feel forced to cancel my membership over something like this. I’ve always loved coming here, and I’d like to continue doing so in an environment that’s both welcoming and respectful—for both members and staff.

Extremely disappointed with how the new VP, Marisa, treated the childcare staff at this LA Fitness location. She came in with a rude and condescending attitude, especially toward Siri—who is one of the kindest, most caring people working with our children.
Marisa was barking orders and falsely claimed that kids are only allowed to stay in Kids Klub for one hour, even though LA Fitness’s own policy clearly states children can stay up to two hours as long as the parent is onsite. She was enforcing rules that aren’t even part of LA Fitness’s official guidelines.
To make it worse, she showed up in a professional setting with stickers on her face, which came across as extremely unprofessional. If you’re going to represent management and speak down to loyal staff and parents, you should at least carry yourself in a way that reflects leadership.
Her attitude created a negative and uncomfortable environment—not just for me, but for many other parents who are now considering leaving or canceling their memberships. We trust and value the amazing childcare team here, and it’s upsetting to see them treated this way.
Corporate needs to step in and address this quickly if they care about the experience and trust of their long-time members.

The sales associate who opened my account and my friend's at this location lied to me.
The following is lifted from my experience at the Missouri location, but the story is the same:
Take it from a local Google guide...
* Disgusting bathrooms
* Nasty naked people
* Pool was broken for 6 months
* Missing useful equipment like hip thrust machine. Alternative you have to use a station with the free weights which is dangerous for people working out for physical therapy purposes.
*** Predatory billing practices
*** Deceitful, lying salespeople
*** You try to cancel and have difficulty, and then are refused a refund.
BUYER BEWARE!
The bathrooms constantly smell like extreme BO.
Swimming lessons for children are held here and other locations (British Swim School), but there are no family restrooms. If you are the opposite sex of your child, be prepared to be encountered by nasty men walking around naked in the restrooms while you are trying to take you child to go potty. If you can't have a family restroom, don't have activities for children or change the configuration/rules or something.
Now for the sales/billing lying and deceit...
Last year, I got a membership for a friend who was visiting from abroad for a few months. The sales guy at the location on Gulf To Bay said he could set my friend's account to auto cancel on a certain date last year. Good deal right? But I was still being charged after the agreed date, even though my friend hadn't been back to Esporta/LA Fitness, because he was already in his home country!
Meanwhile, after getting half of my home destroyed in Hurricane Helene, only getting 10% of destruction covered by insurance, and losing a car that was only covered 1/3 by insurance, I had an emergency surgery during Hurricane Milton which has also left me in the poor house.
After all that had happened and not being fit to work out, I noticed the extra charges and went in to the is LA Fitness location to cancel his membership and put my account on hold (they charge you just over $10/mo to keep your account open, which is dumb, but whatever).
I was told it would be taken care of but that they couldn't refund me because the auto cancel feature wasn't something that was even available. I was very upset that the salesperson who opened our accounts had lied, but decided to move on.
7 months later, I finally felt like maybe I could return to start working out again. I hadn't checked all my statements with a fine tooth comb because they were numerous, due to attempts at recovering from the devastation the hurricane caused me. Thinking of returning to LA Fitness, I started looking at my statements to see if they were still charging my credit card the $10 or so per month to ensure I could just walk in and reactivate my account.
Lo and behold, I was not only being charged my membership pause but was also being billed $54 per month for my friend's account, who wasn't even here and hadn't been to LA Fitness in about 7 months, for a total of nearly $400.
I went in to speak with a manager and they closed my friend's account and gave me a receipt/letter this time saying my card would no longer be charged. Great but...
THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME A REFUND!!!
and gave me no avenue to escalate!
I was told I had to fill out a form or something because whoever supposedly cancelled my account wasn't authorized to do so. Baloney. I was never told about or given any form, or I would have filled it out right away.
I was lied to by sales...
Lied to by another associate about cancelation...
And after all that I've been through, these people will not return my money for unrendered services that were supposed to be cancelled not once, but TWICE!
They can change ownership, branding or whatever, but the long history that these places have of swindling you still persist.
I'm wrecked financially right now. I haven't even replaced my car and have small children to clothe, feed, and take care of and... Apparently, someone else is feeding their kids with my money.

Hace un día tuve una mala experiencia con el lugar ya qie pague membresía para un año,después volví y pague algo adicional y alos dos días,me quitaron el candado del lockert y me sacaron las cosas personales lo único que pude rescatan fueron las diademas de enteenamiento,de resto el resto de cosas se perdieron cuando reclame dijeron qie no se puede dejar cosas en los lockert,me parece falta de respeto,quise qie me devolvieran el dinero y menos,no son personas qie busquen soluciones ala cosas.

It’s alright. Not as many options as other la fitness, and the hours of operation are only getting worse.
Also, there has been a dead duck in the parking lot for over 2 weeks. I see people parking on it, it’s diabolical. Will add the 5th star when the duck is removed. Otherwise, an ok gym.

I like that they have a lot of stuff at my gym the one on Gulf to Bay in Clearwater. But it really iratates me that they can't Keep the hot tub working every day. It is down more than it's up. I look forward to it every Saturday, and it's hit or miss if it's working.

I used to like this gym a lot but now I can’t workout here anymore because of the people in sauna just wont stop talking in the morning and nothing is being done about it. I tried to talk to people that are in charge many times and all my attempts failed. Im gonna find a new gym and cancel my membership with LA fitness.

This place is horrible and has criminal exchange. I signed up for a personal training program which was approximately once a week for 6 months and as I was not really getting much gain nor much attention I quite going even thou i paid the full amount. That terminates the program. 6 months after that they started billing me again for almost & 520 dollars over three months. No warning no calls. Just started billing my credit card. Beware. You sign up and they forget you but keep on charging you after your contract has expired.

So-so experience. Rusted pool railings, no paper towels, dirty ladies bathroom.
So far I have visited only pilates class and I wasn't impressed. The program is good, but the trainer Yenizet lacks professionalism. She barely shows moves (sometimes she just verbally explained) and when I kindly asked her to show what to do, she answered "I don't have to". And she continued to wander around and laugh... Very strange behavior for the coach.

Today we signed our family membership. It was Alan who took care of us at the desk. He performed his job beyond what he supposed to do. He informed all about the gym, prices options, also shows us the facilities, etc, etc. We talked as we know him a long time ago, he's very social and knowledgeable person. He makes our decision to sign in so much easier and quicker. We like to start our membership at LA Fitness and to have Alan there for anything we could need. Thanks.

New to the area and I showed up to this gym with a 3 day guest pass but was denied entrance due to being a former member years ago in a different city. Wish they would have told me that when I signed up before sending me an email with a QR code for entry and then also texting me asking me to schedule my first day to use the free guest pass to “show” me around. Absolutely shocking customer service from the guy at the front desk who was practically a robot. Don’t waste your time with this place, it’s a really awful establishment and it is ran by idiots. Never going to consider LA Fitness again due to this experience.

Constantly, no paper towels, and soap in the Men's locker room. The Lockers are a mess. The instructions sign outside of the Sauna is completely worn away. Stained carpet in the sitting areas, No recycle bins for water bottles, etc. Entire place is dated, and needs a complete overhaul. Treadmills, Stairmaster are very outdated. I'm done with LA Fitness. Whomever owns this franchise should wake up! Update. I'm not sure where these GLOWING reviews below are coming from, it sure isn't for the Gulf to Bay facility.

Every time I walk through the doors of LA fitness, I am greeted with the warm smile from the reception at the front desk. One of the gentlemen’s the name of Shaka who always greets me with a smile and a hello along with my first name. to me that is very impressive it is always clean inside the women’s locker room , also, hot sauna is clean. on the floor. Where the machines are, you can always see a custodial person wiping down machines and pushing some form of a broom mop Throughout the gym to make sure it is efficiently clean. I enjoy when they had the 10 minute sampled stretching sessions. Also, the women’s empowerment that happened last weekend. You have also have a phenomenal manager by the name of Tyson who is running the facility. In a joking manner I asked him if he had a room there because he is always there effectively running the club that is impressive.. It seems to me that the employees there enjoy their job. They enjoy their manager and the manager enjoys his job and that’s what makes me come back continuously. plus the cleanliness of the facility.

I do enjoy both L.A. Fitness and Esporta in Clearwater and St Pete bc of their location and equipment but the floor in the locker rooms and in the bathrooms is appalling at both locations! Absolutely disgusting. They do not clean at all. I see them go through with a broom to pick up paper off the floor but never see them mop and the floors show it. Absolutely disgusting. I feel like I’m changing in a third world country in these locker rooms. No excuse for this neglect.

Came across Al at Starbucks and he talked me into checking out the gym. I came in and liked the gym, wanted to sign up but was waiting on some affairs to get in order. When I was finally ready I came in to meet with Al and get started but this short bald guy in the front was so rude and unprofessional that I just got mad and left. He said Al didn't come in for another 30 minutes and when I said I would sit and wait he told me we can't have you waiting in the lobby, you have to just sign up with someone else. I'm not sure if this is right but I don't think it is since they have chairs available. Regardless of if it is right or wrong there is a way to speak to people in a professional setting and the way this guy spoke to me is not it. Really second guessing signing up.
