The Renovated LA Fitness Falls Short of any Improvement. They replaced leg machines with more inferior ones. And they didn't even increase the number of machines! Well, that wasn't too smart! 🤷🏻‍♀️ The Hip Abduction machine has been out of order for a week and there is only one of these machines!!

They put in 8 cages of Squat Bars and they are "MostlyEmpty"! The leg machines, chest machines and back machines nearly always have people WAITING in line for them.
The machines that most people use are too few. Why didn't you put more of what people use?!?!
If you think your going after the younger people you are wrong, because FCGU has been open for nearly 3 months and the Squat Bar Area is still not used to capacity. You never wait for squat bars because nearly nobody uses them !!
And LA used to have 4 Ab Machines. Now they only have 3 and you probably will wait in line for these.
I'm going to Planet Fitness on Friday, where they have plenty more back and chest machines and more than 2 adduction and abduction machines.
Bad Job on your renovation! Why did you bother?????
I forgot to add that the elliptical machines are far inferior than what was here before. The TVs have not worked since you opened! And none of them have plugs for smart phones or ipads!!

So think twice when you say "you upgraded" the club! It's more like a downgrade!!

the only thing thst drives me nuts is i'm a person woth a disability and almost EVERY TIME i walk into the men's locker room
Someone WITHOUT a physical disability is hogging the accessible handicap stall.
i've walked into that lockerroom and almost everytime someone WITHOUT a disability is having a full blown conversation on phone in the accessible stall.

I’m a truck driver and I travel all over Florida, so I’ve been to almost every LA Fitness.
Before the remodel, this was my favorite gym with the best equipment for leg training.
After the remodel, I feel the quality went down and it’s not the same as before.
It would be great if they could bring back some of the machines they had before to improve the experience.

I loved coming to this LA Fitness up until the recent renovations! The renovation was a needed facelift and has the gym/restrooms feeling nice & clean. My issue is that tons of quality equipment (LifeFitness, Hammer Strength) has been removed. There are probably 30-40% less machines on the gym floor now and all of it is clunky feeling Matrix equipment. If all you need is a squat rack then you're in luck though bc they installed 8 brand new Rogue racks...I just don't know if that was the right move given that a large portion of the clientele seems to be older. Unfortunately due to these changes I've cancelled my membership and am driving further to Smash Fitness.

Signed up for $99 dollar pilates (a gym add on) I guess I am getting what I paid for we are on week 2 of no air conditioning. Its kinda hard to sell pilates memberships when there is no air conditioning you would think they would get it fixed sooner.

The upgrad and new equipment is great! Feels like a real gym! All of people complaining that a lot of machines got removed but there is no exercise you can not do without dumbbells/squat rack. They did remove some machines and there is a wait for some of the other machines but always having access to a squat rack is great and it was a problem before! John the personal trainer is the best so go see my boy!

Nice updates over summer renovation all new equipment, flooring, decor, and added emphasis on deadlifting space. Still wonder why no AC and air flow improvements. Zero airflow and hot as H most times. I expect and want to work up a sweat but not so much in the first 10 minutes. Get some fans at least please!

This place just remodeled and the new locker rooms and bathrooms are very nice. The staff are always friendly, and theres way more racks/more room for free weights. Unfortunately the trade-off is that a lot of the machines have been replaced with worse versions. The new ab machine offers significantly less resistance than the old one. There are fewer cable machines overall so you have to wait longer to use them. Worst of all is the new treadmills. They’re still upstairs, in the hottest part of the gym (most everyone knows that heat rises) and they no longer have built-in fans or vents. Instead, each treadmill has got a TV screen attached. It doesn’t control the machine and if you’re like me and you don’t care about watching TV while you run then it’s basically a mirror a foot from your face right at eye level. It was 90+ degrees all week here in Florida, and itd be nice to have air flow rather than watch myself sweat for half an hour. If all you care about is weight and bar exercises you’ll like the changes. If you’re like me and cardio is a big part of your routine, you’ll want to look at some other gym options.

Recent remodel is a HUGE DOWNGRADE. I tried to be patient and "make it work" but they literally took away more than HALF of the machines/equipment and replaced it with either nothing or 8 squat racks. Lots of empty space and before there was 2 of most popular machines now there is 1 if you're lucky. Goodluck getting the chest press or a quad extension, hamstring curl, Seated row, the list goes on. Also, pay attention to how all the negative reviews say the same thing. The gym was ruined. Not the staffs fault (Jay, Nick, Connor, etc all do their best) but that doesnt change the fact that I use to love my workouts here. Now I search each day for a new gym but with the travel time I feel like im stuck at a subpar gym. As an aside the gym does look nice however, I rated it 1 star to go against all the fake 5 star reviews. Believe what you want but after your first workout here you'll realize this ain't no 5 star gym.

I got a guest pass for this gym June 2024… it was filthy! Every single dumbell had grime on it… the bathrooms were barely clean. I say no way…. Fast forward December 2024 I decided to do a guest pass again to decide. When I got there I was told I couldn’t do another guest pass ever again because it’s like one per lifetime per person. I said ok, then no. It was filthy last time I’m not committing to a gym where I cannot see and decide again. I went over to smash fitness, best decision I ever made. Clean. I even went to do a day pass and I was told my first workout is free!
We love a small gym that knows how to get and keep customers.

Edit; they remodeled the gym and I still cannot get a guest pass because of their one guest pass per lifetime. Not sure even if that’s their policy I’ll probably have to check with corporate, not sure it’s worth it.

My husband and I signed up for this gym. The girl who helped us was super nice, but today we went at 5 am, the gym had no music and I really think the air conditioning wasn't working. I hope they fix this because I think they charge a pretty high price for simple things like that not to work.

Read the internet first on everyone else's ratings and heed the warning. It's like what everybody else says about it. Especially true when it comes to cancellations. They state that it's a month to month membership but yet when I cancel it they won't refund your money. This facility was closed for like 2 to 3 months for remodeling accused me of being notified that they were open and that I should have came in and canceled it before. I didn't receive an email notification and then they told me "everyone received one" then, told me I should have checked the app and I should have checked the website and I should have called to see if they were open yet they essentially making it my responsibility to find out when they open. That's just wrong. It is their responsibility to notify everyone when they reopened.

They recently did a total remodel. Seems to have less equipment to use. Sauna is always a problem at this place. It looks nice but they don’t seem to care about it. Maybe because it cost money to heat it. So it’s basically a room to sit in.
I don’t think they clean the showers out daily. I’ve seen a patch sitting in the same shower for a few days.

Visiting from out of town, gym was average LA Fitness. Good deal of weights not put away properly, and not my favorite layout, but a decent fitness offering with everything you need for a good workout. Sauna worked, which is saying something, but smelled awful. Shake bat has been closed/removed. I'll be back because it's convenient to the hotel I use when traveling.

I came to see the new renovations done to the gym. Tried using a 3 day free guest pass they emailed to me but apparently if you were a member years ago, you can’t use a guest pass. So I ended up buying a day pass for $20 but got harassed by the salesman there to get a membership. I have been going to the gym for quite a while and have never experienced what happened to me at this LA Fitness. I was pressed and harassed for not getting a membership at this gym. For this reason, I will never get a LA fitness membership and will never refer anyone here. If you actually work out, this is not the gym you want to go to.

The gym is absolutely beautiful! Everything is brand new from the bottom to the top! The bathrooms make me feel like I’m in a luxurious with such glorious vanity lights. The sauna looks beautiful as well. Plus’s the pool and the hot tub is huge! The staff is so welcoming and very supportive. There’s so many programs to choose from, and the way they care about my goals makes me feel special. LA Fitness literally provided so much access for not only working out, but for also my recovery. This is such an amazing gym! I rate a 10/10 with my experience. If you want to decide to change your life, I say start with LA Fitness. You won’t be disappointed!

Cool workers, didn’t like the fact I couldn’t record my workouts here.
Another thing to note would be the community 4/7 interactions with other members is nice (other than that the other members are mid could be more polite).

I regret ever signing up for this place and don't sign up to have a personal trainer. This place is a joke! During my sessions, my personal trainer would disappear or be busy talking to other people and not pay attention to me if using the machine correctly. For $180 a month, he should pay attention to what I am doing. Also, their bikes upstairs don't work properly. I be riding, then all of a sudden it will stop working and I have to start over. I would expect that from a low end gym, but not an expensive place like LA Fitness!

Good atmosphere fair prices and if you’re smart about it not too busy. Biggest problem I’ve come into is that the gym could use a big of a renovation on some machine particularly in the cable section. Some of the weight numbers are faded and some of the pins for some machines are missing. Not too big of a problem and most gyms I’ve been too are worse. I would say this gym is really great for beginners and advanced lifters alike. However I would say if you’re a powerlifter or other competitive weightlifter your options are a bit limited. But other than that a great gym.

Morgan B is the absolute best personal trainer! I recommend everybody checks her out. When I first entered the gym I was a nervous novice, now 3 months later after working with her, my body has changed significantly and I have a new level of confidence that has transcended into every aspect of my life. Morgan also gives awesome dieting tips and recommended meal plans.

I hurt myself cooking and had to have stitches. During those 2 weeks with stitches, I thought I would have to stop working out and lose all my progress, I was devastated. She worked tirelessly to build a workout routine for every muscle group so I could workout without risking pressure to my injury! Thanks to her I ended up building muscle even while not being able to properly use one of my hands!

Ewwww. Gross. Bugs everywhere. Dead ones all over the floor and equipment and in the ceiling lights, too. Live ones falling on you while you're working out. Manager claims to call exterminator, but probably doesn't seeing that this has been ongoing for almost a year. Maybe he thinks the exterminator should also come clean out the bugs that are everywhere too because he doesn't do it. We enter an area for a class and there are bugs all over the place. If a customer reports insects to him, and they are not a specific type of person (similar to him) he becomes verbally abusive. I hope this report encourages him to do his job.

The equipment is great, the gym is semi-clean, but doesn’t smell as good as the other LA Fitnesses I’ve been too. Joe was very polite.

3rd update:
Year 14 as a member.
Adjusted my rating to a two start, because membership has went down and its not as overly crowded as it once was. Not a single new piece of equipment since i joined. They did add a men's testosterone clinic. Lockers and bathrooms are still very dirty. AM personal trainers are consistent and seem to really care about their clients.

11 year member. I have frozen my gym membership and found a new gym. I've becoming uncomfortable with the overcrowding and how dirty this gym has become.

I suggest you look at NonStop Fitness for a membership.

Been a member for 8 years.

The gym is just ok at best and it's really disappointing because it could be amazing.

*Huge turnover in staff, there is a completely different staff about every 6-9 months.

*The gym is large with ok equipment but its often disgustingly dirty. When a piece of equipment fails it often takes 2+ months for it to be repaired.

*The locker rooms are absolutely disgusting, mold on the air-conditioner vents, mold on the shower curtains, and you're told you can't put a lock on lockers but staff keep locks on all the lockers in the best location.

*There has also not been a new piece of equipment added in over 8 years besides to the personal trainers side of the gym.

*The personal trainer staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.
*My poor rating of the gym mostly reflects the equipment and management of the building itself not necessarily the staff.

Before the Covid outbreak this gym was considered pretty dirty...now with post Covid standards this place is down right filthy.

Also not a single piece of equipment has been updated in 10 years.

This gym is awesome! Kenyan was great. I love the money I’m saving from my paid in full membership. He gave me all my options and showed me around the gym. All the staff is so friendly. Definitely the best club in fort myers. I’ve tried out a couple around the area and this one is by far the best.

3 day pass is only good for 2 days. I showed up on day 1 and day 3. Day 3 I was told it expired and they make you redo everything for the 3rd day they want to know if you are going to sign up as a member before they do. You can't even get the 3 day pass correct. Seriously? Terrible experience and extremely disappointed. Didn't stay because the situation was not ok
