Poor customer service! After years of coming to this gym without ever needing or asking for help, the one time I had simple questions about memberships, I approached Brittany and immediately regretted it. Working out at a gym has always been challenging for me but I decided to give it a try and so glad I did. I want to thank Lulu who is my personal trainer at LA Fitness. I started out with someone else but it wasn’t what I needed. I chose Lulu and I am truly amazed at what she had done for me. She started out with a very good assessment and asking me a lot of questions. At my age of 69 my number one reason for joining the gym was to become stronger to help me as I age. Lulu has taught me many simple exercises that I can do at home as well as the gym. I am just over my first month with her and have lost inches. She has been training me to work on balance, mobility, strength, posture, my step and the speed of my walk. My husband sees the difference when we shop. I feel 100% stronger and better about myself aging. I highly recommend her.

Very Bad Experience, when i was in Jacksonville im planning to do some physical exercise and i went to LA Fitness, im trying to take 3mth plan because i was their only for 3 mth, the guy who work their, he said we have lots of branch all over America you can go by yearly plan, after 3 mth i came back to Colorado, Denver, but here is no any LA Fitness, i call them and request for the cancellation but the lady who talk to me in phone call said you can go by online and do that cancellation yourself. My question thing is why they lie people? When people come to join gym they give a lots of time but when someone requesting for the cancellation why they said do yourself by online, wow , i will never back LA Fitness in my life.

I've been a member of this LA Fitness for about two years and never had a problem until today. While I understand the policy about member photos, I was asked to have my picture taken while signing in. I politely declined and specifically asked the manager, who I believe was named "Hu," not to take my picture.

Despite my explicit refusal, the manager proceeded to take my photo without my consent. I felt extremely violated by this action, especially since it happened in front of other members. When I requested the corporate number from another employee, I was given incorrect information.

I believe the manager's behavior was a gross violation of my personal boundaries and a complete disregard for my rights as a member. He could have simply denied me entry if I didn't comply with the photo policy, but instead, he chose to disregard my refusal and take my picture against my will.

I am deeply disturbed by this incident and the lack of support from staff. This experience has made me seriously reconsider my membership.

I fear this review will make no real difference buttttt geez it’s getting really frustrating how often equipment here is broken not to mention they're already quite outdated machines. It takes months for them to fix one row machine oh wait it’s not actually fixed because the foot straps are still screwed on backwards so you can’t actually tighten them like the sketchy maintenance is laughable. Oh they actually fixed one of the row machines haha now the other 2 are broken they don’t even bother with out of order signs anymore. I came in to the ceiling literally on the ground one day. For the price you would think at minimum the machines would work or that they would put in some sort of effort to maintain a quality gym they need a serious upgrade how do the workers not even know what ski erg is 💀 also glad im not the only one who gags at trying to run with the scent of breakfast sandwiches permeating my nose. I stay because of proximity but please hear me beg and plead can we just have some equipment that isn’t falling apart like why do the mats looked chewed on 😭😭

Operating a gym takes the least amount of intellectual ability than nearly any other business yet their local management can’t seem to grasp some of the basics around safety and hygiene. How this places doesn’t have dozen of lawsuits by what seems to be intentionally neglected equipment. There isn’t a sanitary area in this facility. If anyone gets injured have your attorney reach out. I have plenty of documented safety risk from this and other local la fitness clubs.

My thoughts on LA Fitness: Unfortunately, the hygiene in the bathrooms is very poor. Cleaning is insufficient, there is no soap in the bathrooms, and the shower curtains are both old and missing in many places. The toilets are neglected and not hygienic, which makes them quite uncomfortable to use. In the sauna area, the bottoms of the chairs are dirty, and the overall lack of maintenance is noticeable. I believe the gym should pay more attention to these issues. The lack of hygiene and maintenance significantly affects the customer experience in a negative way.

The heart rate monitors on 95% of the cardio machines don't work. When I asked about why they don't work, everyone that works here acted shocked as if they didn't know. If you plan on signing up to the kids club, don’t even bother. I signed up to the club with high hopes of being able to work out while someone watched my baby of six months. The two days that I went and use the kids club, there was over 20 kids in the room and only one attendant. And each attendant Lacked the patience and enthusiasm to watch children. To be honest, it takes a special kind of person to be patient and loving towards kids. And these two people were not. I will spare you the details of what I witnessed, but it was not loving. Besides that, the machines are very old and dated, the treadmill has an emergency shut off system that is triggered by the slightest touch. So I kept pausing my workout, and it was very frustrating. I canceled my membership, and asked for a refund, which I was denied the refund for my first and last month as well as initiation fee, but they did refund the annual fee. So there’s that. Trust me, go there as a guest first, and scope it out for yourself. Do not sign up and give your money to a club that to be honest is lackluster. I feel that the amenities in this location or what really people enjoy, they have a swimming, pool, and racquetball courts. If that’s your jam, then, by all means, enjoy. I prefer newer machines, and a kids club, where they treat your child like family not like a nuisance.

I have been LA fitness member since 2010! I relocated from another state and wanted to use my free pass and see if the gym is nice , clean and useful . I explained that I have been using LA Fitness for a very long time in the past and wanted to see if I like this particular facility . I have used LA fitness for years and now, when I live in FL, they are telling me to pay 10$ per day in order to start using my free guest pass . I was told that the free pass is only for the new members . I do not like paying for poor customer service so my LA fitness membership finally came to an end after 15 years . I do not recommend this business , very poor customer service experience .

Witnessed a Member verbally assault and physically damage property to the gym manager Jackie, because their team had cleared out the lockers in locker room. Overhead he had left his stuff there over a week and was angry they cleared it out. Was impressed at how calm
Jackie was and how she handled the situation.

Good so far. I am open to changing my rating. Personal trainer is very good. The hours are good. It’s clean. I would like to see towels available for at least the members using personal trainers. I've been going to LA Fitness on Kernan Blvd for a while now, and I can't say enough good things about it. Right from the start, the manager, Jackie, has been incredibly helpful and kind. She really goes out of her way to make sure everyone feels welcome and taken care of.

The gym has a fantastic variety of equipment, so there's always something new to try. Whether you're into cardio, weightlifting, or something else, they've got you covered. Plus, the place is always super clean, which I really appreciate.

What really stands out to me, though, is the sense of community here. Everyone, from the staff to the members, is so friendly and supportive. It's a great environment to work out in, and it keeps me motivated to come back regularly.

Overall, LA Fitness on Kernan Blvd is a top-notch gym. Thanks to Jackie and the team for making it such a great place to get fit and have fun!

I’ve been a member of LA Fitness sin the 1990’s , I joined the first La in Kendall ( Miami) when they came to south Florida, now I’m in Jacksonville Florida and I’ve been in this location for a few years, i have met every manager here and they are all very professionals , now they have a new manager, her name is Jackie R, she’s been having all kinds of issues with some of the members, I just witnessed 10 plus members cancelled their membership because of this person, she’s very unprofessional and has a very bad attitude, telling some of the members that she can do whatever she wants because she owns that club and no one is above her, there is more to it but I Will never finish.

No wifi. My monthly payment alone can pay for some wifi in here. There are much cheaper gyms with wifi and nearly identical equipment.

I had a one on one session with a trainer who was rude. She began our appointment about ten minutes late and did not give me the extra ten minutes over to make up for it. She was offensively/discriminatorily talking to me about a woman who walked in to apply for a job.

I would rather drive a few extra miles to be at a gym with wifi that respects all people.

So I've been going to this LA Fitness for about 2 years. It has pretty much what you would want a hot tub Asana a swimming pool some heavy bags. You can use the cycling class area if you want to hop on a cycling bike and get some cardio.

Yes some of the equipment is a little rusty they've done a better job with upkeeping the equipment because when I first joined there was always a piece of equipment down not working.

They have a nice deadlift rack if you want a deadlift they have some older style equipment like the old hip thrust machine.

There is no Wi-fi so if you need that they don't offer it I don't know why. I'll say the staff my interactions have been friendly nice.

One of the downfalls of this gym is nobody seems to Rack their weights like for an example. Somebody might put 500 pounds on a leg press machine and will not rack their weight even though their signs clearly. Saying rack your weights

That is just him etiquette you use a machine you put the weights back.

But will I say LA Fitness is the leader in doing modern new style machines and workouts no if you go to a gym like EOS Fitness you will see there's a huge difference in equipment what you're able to do and what you're not able to do.

But the reason I use LA Fitness is if I travel you have the ability to use their facilities all around the country some are better than others so I don't know if that means they're privately owned. For my own personal use I think this is the best one in Jacksonville that I've used cuz I've used one on University didn't care for that one and the one in Atlantic Beach wasn't that good as well.

But if you're just going to come in put your headphones in and get in a solid workout you can definitely do that they have everything from cattle Bells deadlift racks as Smith machine they should get a newer style  Smith machine. But again overall I would give please probably a 7.5 out of 10

This LA fitness has a hot tub and sauna that is nice and the morning staff has been friendly. I have to say, I have been going to a different LA Fitness location for two years now, and just moved over to this one after moving homes.
The equipment is not nearly as nice, is definitely rundown, and rusty in some places. The quality of equipment just isn’t as good as my last gym either.

Unfortunately, this location is not nearly as clean as the other one. There are dust bunnies on the floor and bits of debris scattered around. People at this gym also don’t re-rack their weights or put things in the proper place. It’s a big gym that has nice amenities, but is not very well kept.

This particular gym seems to attract some of the meanest clients in the planet who can't even properly explain their rudeness. Staff are weaker than they should in their problem-solving abilities, enforce their rules to be fair to everyone, and can't really manage their front desk all the time on weekends which is bad. This gym is disgusting. Very dirty ! Roaches in the women's locker room. They do not fix any of their machines...the same machines have been broken for months. Worst of all the gym stinks! Whatever they cook in the "cafe" stinks up the entire gym. This facility is total trash and not worth anyone's time or money.

Thank GOD I MOVED TO CRUNCH FITNESS.

Perfect place for various sports activities. good trainers, equipment, aerobics, basketball, tennis, sauna, swimming pool and hot tub. Good price. i like this gym 👍🏼

The staff isn’t attentive and loves to play with basketballs at the desk. Kinda hazardous don't you think. Many of the machines are in poor condition and have out of order signs on them and one big black guy with dreads is never doing anything and always socializing with the girls. And the men's restrooms are hit or miss. Maybe fix all the locks on the stalls?

This review is for Monica M, how you describe your experience and the employee says more about you than him. Talking about someones physical appearance is not the best way to describe a “Bad” or “Rude” employee, it sounds like you are the problem. I feel sorry for everyone at that gym that have to deal with you. Go get help.

BTW I love the gym and everyone there, keep up the fantastic job you guys do.

The only thing I’m going to say is that some of the staff are very nice and others are not, like in every place but is one in particular!!!!. He is a personal trainer white boy, brown hair that looks like he doesn’t comb it, brown eyes, chubby that he is very nasty and rude. I had 2 interactions with this boy in the passed 3 weeks and let me tell you….he is very RUDE!!!!

The locker room and spa/wet area need to be better maintained. Especially the hot tub! Black stain/ mold under and along the rim. A pool brush, bleach and a little work would clean it right up.

Nice open gym with standard equipment you’d expect. Racquetball, basketball, and pool/hot tub (although why put it up front with see-through glass so everyone coming and going can peep on swimmers? Kind of sketchy)

Nice staff, fairly clean, lots of free weights and four squat racks — and not too busy provided you visit outside of post-work rush hours. Other than that, all bets are off and it’s a madhouse.

One issue I’ve seen multiple times now — if something breaks, it’s broken for 4-6 weeks. Not a good look. A machine or water fountain will stay broken with a sign or plastic over it for a LONG time.

Most my friends prefer crunch’s aesthetic over LA - they say they feel transported to the 90s. (Doesn’t bother me but it’s true lol)

Overall, I’d still recommend. Any gym without contracts is alright despite still getting you with annual fees on top of monthlies.

First time member and I was pleasantly surprised by all this location has to offer! Pool, jacuzzi, sauna, showers, lockers, several racket ball courts, full basketball court and TONS of equipment! Staff was super friendly too.

I don't usually write reviews but I had the most wonderful experience. As a gym rat and lifter I was in HEAVEN. So much equipment and ample space for everyone. Even the locker rooms were gorgeous! I had a 3 day trial and the staff members were so kind and helpful. Will definitely become a member once it becomes affordable to my lifestyle!

Solid functional gym layout with the sled, ropes, etc.

I visited in the morning, but I noticed there were signs that mentioned it’s only for personal training. If that’s true, I’d give this gym a one star.

A little crowded at 10am.... but everyone was friendly.....
Daycare was good and Hannah did a good job, it was spacious as well.
Z did a great job welcoming us in.
