Supper bummed with this La fitness location, I’ve been a member with La fitness off and on for over 20 years or so. My last membership I cancelled due to relocating and moving to Florida a couple years back. I went online for 3 day pass to decide if I wanted to rejoin this establishment and location. I finally went in toured the gym and was told because I was prior member I couldn’t have a 3 day pass to decide if I want to join and I had to decide to join to tonight right then and there… first off when I moved from the west coast to east coast and rejoin two different gyms they gave me a week pass to decide if wanted to rejoin. This location doesn’t offer cycling classes, there is no sauna, no racquetball courts, no jacuzzi and they barely have classes, all the yoga classes are during the hours I work I’m a 530-6 am at spin class or yoga class kind of lady. Not only was I completely discouraged they don’t offer the amenities I prefer when joining a gym, but being told I couldn’t have a 3 day pass to decide if I even wanted to join a gym that doesn’t offer what I want or look for in a gym was hard pass. I’m sorry I’d rather give my business to another gym establishment that can at least accommodate my preferences when joining a gym.

By far the best gym I’ve ever been to. Has all the machines/amenities you can ask for. Cardio, weights, abs, pool, hot tub, and my favorite of all the sauna. The staff couldn’t be friendlier either.

I really like this gym, I have been weight training most of like and this gym has some of the best people working here everybody are very friendly and helpful. The equipment is well maintained and clean, the maintenance man Jack is always keeping things clean, including the bathrooms there is always toilet paper and paper towels for hand cleaning, and the alcohol cleaning wipes are always for for customers to wipe and clean there sweat off the equipment when done. This gym is filthy. Dust all under all the machines. Wife says ladies locker room is nasty. Talked to the Janitorial Manger and he said he doesn’t know what to tell us. When I come in and work out, I workout for well over an hour. And he is always just sitting at a desk. No matter what time I come in. If it were my company, my cleaning guy wouldn’t be sitting down at a desk for hours at a time while my gym was disgusting.

I use this gym for one reason. Its for the basketball court. They close it down due to some juvenile activities? Thanks corporate for making us basketball players suffer from stupidity. Perfect example.. in S.elgin IL... it's was closed everyday at 3pm and weekends for like a month or so?? Why? Because supposedly a later fitness up in Dundee... someone brought a gun in there.. that's not how you fix stuff.. smh.. Great gym! I love this place, the staff is always nice and they have a lot of good machines.

The biggest downside is the cleaning. The cleanliness has gone down hill recently. The bathrooms are always dirty and so are the machines. Its really disappointing to pay $40 a month for it to be this dirty.

EDIT 7/8/25:
They are making good progress! The cleaning is improving once again. Now when you visit, the cleaning staff are working on keeping the gym in good shape. Bumped review from 1 star to 3 stars. They have some more to work on, but great progress!

First time here. Gym area looks nice and updated. But very crowded for a Wednesday, the bathrooms were not clean, tissue and trash all over the floor. I used the pool, there was no sauna or therapy pool, the shower water gets VERY hot please be careful (and I love hot water but it nearly burned my skin off) the pool isn’t kept up very well. The floor of the pool was very dirty, there were at least 5 bandaids laying on the outer area of the pool, the water was very murky. Likely will not return for the pool access.

Very small location wish they would expand as Lakeland’s population is growing extremely quick. Limited equipment. One of each machine in some cases. No sauna which is disappointing with this same price other locations offer sauna like the Brandon and Tampa locations. They ladies toilets are constantly out of order the handicap stall was out for almost 7months I think that is unacceptable. Everywhere has room for improvements and this location is no exception. Went in today to renew my membership that I had revoked late last year spoke to a female saleswoman who was very pleasant but her knowledge on the current offers threw me off. I have in my email an offer for $29.99 a month to rejoin with the initial fee waived but she quoted me $39.99 a month with no mention of the offer in my email. I use to pay $25 a month when the place was still under “ESPORTA” so trying to charge me an additional $15 a month for the exact same facilities and arguably worse service and customer experience threw me off completely. Annoyed I wasted my time today.

I guess they made some changes to the cleaning staff. The facility is not as clean as it used to be. They used to mop The floors twice a week sometimes even three. I don't see anybody mopping the floors anymore and it shows. Cleanest staff used to wipe down every piece of equipment Don't see that happening anymore either. Mirrors used to be spotless and it's quite a few in that place now they look smoked fingerprints all over him half the time I don't know what they're thinking I think they're trying to reinvent the wheel. Hand soap paper towels half the dispensers are empty A lot of the time Even the basketball court used to see him get the big dust mop and take a mop and a bucket and clean that Don't see that happening either anymore they used to wipe down the dumbbells with disinfectant once maybe twice a week none of this stuff is taking place anymore haven't seen anybody clean the shower it's two weeks A little disappointing it used to be spotless for years far from the truth what's happening now. And sanitizer and equipment wipes or empty the majority of the time. They're supposed to have somebody come in at 5:00 a.m. to start cleaning That's what they say anyway you don't see anybody on the floor until 12:30 1:00 in the afternoon starting to clean now another twist the occasion they have a female in the men's locker room in the middle of the day empty in the garbage trying to clean the sinks and you have a male employee That's supposed to be taking care of that is not doing that so now when the guys come out of the shower they're inconvenience because there's a female walking around in the men's locker room very uncomfortable when you getting out of the shower and you're trying to get dressed and there's a woman walking around in there hopefully they'll change their ways because there's a quite a few members that are not satisfied anymore

I started working out a month ago with Robert as my trainer. He is an amazing trainer. Habla español también! He is professional and is committed to helping me reach my goals. His trainings are intense but in the best way. Somehow he knows exactly what my body’s limit is. He has a great personality, which is a plus lol. And he sends motivational texts and checks on me on days when I workout alone. He cares about his clients and he is extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend this gym and Robert as a trainer. I am a member of multiple gyms, and I feel LA Fitness is the best overall gym in Lakeland. I encourage you to start with Personal Training, as it will make you feel really good on days that you do it and help you commit to exercise while learning how to exercise safely and efficiently. It's super affordable too and so worth the investment in yourself. The three morning trainers, Robert, Michael and Michelle, are experienced, fun and great and giving top-notch workout. I love Michelle's free classes (so easy to jump into), Michael trained me in basketball (at 43 I set a goal to compete with the talented young men and I nailed it--thanks Mike!) and I want to give a special shout out to Robert as he has really taken me to the next level, with creative, fun workouts (including boxing) and really pushing me to my limits (didn't know I could do 100 sit up--but I did-- thanks Rob). My name is Richie, if you need help getting into exercise or want a workout buddy, tell the front desk to ask for me and we can get after it together! I recently moved to this area, and this gym is the closest to me, which makes it very convenient. One of the biggest advantages of this location is that it’s super clean and not overly crowded. The equipment is decent, I’d rate it a 7 out of 10, but I think it could use some updates. For example, adding a hip thrust machine would bring it more in line with competitor gyms.

One downside is the lack of a sauna. Many other locations, as well as competitor gyms, offer this amenity, so it’s disappointing that this one doesn’t. I’ve always considered LA Fitness to be a premium gym with updated and high-quality equipment, but that’s not the case at this location.

Another issue is the weekend hours. The gym doesn’t open until 8 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, which isn’t ideal for early risers. Opening earlier, even 1 hour earlier like 7 a.m., would be much more accommodating.

That said, I do get a good workout each time I visit, so for the convenience factor, it serves its purpose. However, there’s definitely room for improvement to match the standards I expect from LA Fitness.

This place seems nice at a glance but be warned about the management here when you sign up. They seem like really nice people but it is an act to compensate for their extremely predatory personal training contracts. If you sign up for the contract, be sure to read it thoroughly as even though they say you can “choose” to continue, that isn’t an option at all, it continues at the same extremely high rate you signed up at on a monthly basis. The management will make absolutely no effort to inform you of this, and once you do cancel the plan, if you have unused sessions, they expire within 30 days. They got me for $800 extra dollars after the contract expired and refused to refund or do anything at all to help. They also gave me 30 days to use ALL 30+ personal training sessions I paid for. I will not be returning here out of disgust for the contract practices, as I feel you have to be a certain level of scummy person to even sale such a predatory contract and want nothing further to do with this company.

This is a high quality fitness facility for an extremely reasonable cost. The locker room and shower areas are always neat. The staff goes out of their way to make the members feel welcome and comfortable. I have to give a shout out to the manager, Sarah, who has been wonderful at working with me to make this facility more accessible for people like myself who have physical disabilities. I also appreciate the fact that I can use my arm floats when exercising in the pool. This has helped me tremendously as I begin to walk again!

Very clean. Has all the equipment one needs for a good workout. Staff has been helpful, professional and friendly. Raul has gone above and beyond any expectations. Lauren is also very professional and extremely helpful

This gym is about 1% better than Planet Fitness. Might as well go to Planet Fitness for 10 dollars. There is no sauna, no hip thrust machine, and no corner to stretch. There are like four squat racks but a million cardio machines. The machines stack up on top of each other. Crunch or you fit, please make your next location North Lakeland

Aaron Babb is the very best Personal Trainer.

Alicia is a fantastic trainer at the esporta fitness in Lakeland Florida, she combines a down to earth sweet personality with a no nonsense professionalism when it comes to executing her training duties!, highly recommended.

I began training with Alicia about 2 months ago. Even though I had several good trainers in the past year, but Ali is The Best. Here is why:
She is giving a very particular and specific training each session.
She explains and demos the exercises.
Ali pushes you to limit and beyond as long as you are willing to go beyond and above.
The experiences she introduced almost all her were very new and extremely effective.
She knows what she is talking about.
Besides, her personality is beyond this world!
She is a joy and delight to work with. Here friendly yet professionalism beautifully well balanced. The conversations are very useful but not a second distracted or wasted.

I strongly recommend Alicia for her knowledge, professionalism and personality.

Great gym, only complaint is that the turf closes 6-7pm for group PT. This is the busiest time at the gym, would be beneficial if it was made later or split the turf in half so people can use the turf during this time period.
