Disgusting! The showers haven’t been cleaned in over a week maybe more. Noticed this lovely piece of “dirt” inside one of the showers over a week ago, still there. The Sauna floor looks as if it hasn’t been cleaned in months. WTH? Health hazard not sanitary. Purely gross. Complained multiple times. Seems as though an investor might have bought this property and it might closed soon. It should close, this is below LOW standard.

The only problem is that practically nobody reracks or puts away their weights when they’re done. The weights are just a big mess, thrown around everywhere. Sometimes you have to search the entire gym for like 15 or 25 pound dumbbells and still not find a pair or a single one!! The staff is very cool but it’s just extremely unorganized, and the people who go there don’t clean up after themselves!!

As a long-standing customer of this establishment for over 15 years, I must express my dissatisfaction with the current state of the sauna. The persistent odor emanating from the sauna is unpleasant and reminiscent of urine and a toilet, which is highly unhygienic and unacceptable. I kindly request that the sauna be cleaned on a regular basis, at least twice daily, to eliminate this unpleasant odor and maintain a clean and pleasant environment for all patrons.

I’ve been a loyal LA Fitness member for years, always holding the highest membership level. Unfortunately, my recent experience at the Dade County South location (16051 S Dixie Hwy) was extremely disappointing.

I brought a friend with a week VIP pass. On Saturday he entered with no problem after scanning his barcode. But when we returned a couple days later, the staff member at the front desk, Thomas Johnson, treated us rudely. My friend had already filled out his name, signature, and waiver, but Thomas demanded he complete a detailed fitness and diet questionnaire. When we explained we didn’t have time (we had a flight later that day), Thomas told us we could leave if we didn’t want to do it and even threatened to cancel my membership on the spot. He denied us entry and repeatedly claimed to be a manager.

This was unprofessional, disrespectful, and completely unwelcoming — not what I expect from LA Fitness.

Thankfully, Luis Magdaniel eventually stepped in, apologized, and helped us immediately. He treated us with professionalism and care, and encouraged us to stay. His behavior was the only positive part of this visit.

Overall, it is sad to see someone like Thomas representing a company that should stand for health, fitness, and customer wellbeing. Members deserve respect, not threats or humiliation. I will be sharing this experience widely so other members know what to expect.

Great gym. The equipment is well maintained, the staff is super friendly and helpful. The facilities are kept clean. I love the spacious sauna, except for the benches in it, which seemed to be sized for 8 ft tall people. I’m 6” and my feet dangle about 5 inches off the floor like a little kid. Everything else is awesome!

Absolutely unacceptable experience.
We visited this LA Fitness for the first time today, and quite honestly, it was disgusting. We’ve been to multiple LA Fitness locations, including in Los Angeles, and this was by far the worst we’ve seen.
• Showers: Filthy, several did not work at all, and the ones that did had almost no water pressure.
• Restrooms: Urine left under the urinals, toilet paper and paper towels scattered everywhere with no staff cleaning. Mirrors were dirty and damaged, and black grime covered the edges throughout the bathroom.
• Sauna: The walls were filthy, covered in black stains.
• Locker Room: Many lockers were broken, and overall conditions were neglected.
• AC Vents: Clogged with dirt and debris, clearly not maintained.
• Equipment: Outdated, rusty, and poorly cared for.

This facility is in dire need of maintenance, cleaning, and basic upkeep. It is unacceptable for a national chain like LA Fitness to allow a location to fall into this condition.

I decided to cancel Kids Club for both of my children after ongoing safety concerns that were never addressed. The no food policy is not taken seriously, even though food allergies can be life-threatening. One day, a child was allowed to eat a Nutella bar inside, despite my child having a severe tree nut allergy. This kind of carelessness is unacceptable.

On top of that, the caregiver is consistently on her phone and not paying attention to the kids. On multiple occasions, I’ve arrived to find her in the bathroom with no one supervising the children. That’s not just irresponsible, it’s dangerous.

I no longer feel confident leaving my kids in their care. If basic safety and supervision can’t be guaranteed, then the Kids Club is not a safe space for any child.

Gym temp is kept too high. There are very little wipe down stations and I have not seen any member wipe their equipment before or after use. The equipment is dated. And nothing is put back where it belongs. 15lb dumbbells in the 75 spot? Or they're placed in random spots. Nothing gets re-racked. It's a fishing expedition to find weights. Very stale environment.

First time heading to LA Fitness and I registered my fiancé and myself for the 3 day free pass to test out the experience. When we got there the front desk denied us entry because someone from sales had to sit down with us. No one was available. So she said can we come back another day. I explained we drove a bit further to come here but it didn’t matter. We payed for a day pass each and even still.. they wanted me to go to the gas station and get my own change. With almost 30 minutes at the front desk the urge to workout was fading away. It was our first time there and it really didn’t feel all that. We didn’t even stay long. Gas down the drain. Money down the drain. I wouldn’t recommend.

Hoy me presenté en el gimnasio ubicado en 16051 S Dixie Hwy, Miami, FL 33157, acompañado de una amiga con la intención de participar en la clase de Cycle programada para las 5:45 pm Ella me había registrado como invitada, pero lamentablemente su membresía no incluía el beneficio de llevar acompañantes.

El caballero que me atendió me informó que, bajo esas condiciones, no podía ingresar, lo cual comprendí. Sin embargo, la forma en que me comunicó esta información fue completamente inapropiada y humillante, especialmente considerando que era mi primera visita a este club. Delante de mi amiga, me dijo de forma tajante que no podía entrar a menos que adquiriera una membresía en ese mismo momento. Le explicó que, en ese instante, no contaba con el dinero para hacerlo, a lo que respondió que debía pagar $20 si quería participar en la clase.

Avergonzada por su actitud, le aclaré que no tenía la obligación de afiliarme en ese momento ni en ese lugar, y mucho menos sin haber tenido la oportunidad de conocer las instalaciones y evaluar si realmente era el club adecuado para mí.

Cuando me dirigía hacia la salida junto a mi amiga, este mismo Señor se acercó nuevamente para recalcar que no me había otorgado el pase de cortesía porque, según sus palabras, “yo no pensaba hacer la membresía en este club”. Le respondí que no estoy obligada a inscribirme precisamente allí, y que en la zona existen muchas otras opciones.

Sinceramente, si esta es la manera en que reciben potenciales nuevos miembros, están dejando una pésima impresión. La experiencia fue tan desagradable que ni siquiera me siento cómoda otorgándoles una estrella, pero debo seleccionarla porque, de lo contrario, no podré publicar esta reseña.

Compared to where I come from, this gym is huge! Pool, racquetball courts, large dance studio, tons of cardio and weight equipment including an interesting football-like area where people do walking lunges and drag heavy weights/tires. I have my child signed up for the kids club in this location and 9/10 times that I pick her up her knees, shins and top of foot are black with the dirt from the floor. I brought this up to the front desk and asked how frequently the kids club was cleaned as I showed him how dirty my daughter’s lower limbs were. He asked if she was on the carpet as if that was the solution, the carpet should be cleaned constantly regardless. I bring this up because now my daughter has hands, mouth and feet virus which is from daycare centers. She does not go to any other day care except this location, I would greatly appreciate it if the sanitary conditions in this location improve for the health of not only my daughter but for other children.

This club sucks. Sorry, there’s no other way to say it. Machines are really old. There aren’t free weights available, not because they are in use, but because they simple don’t have them. I asked two people at the front desk that got mad because I interrupted their conversation about somebody’s girl, if they had ropes for tricep extensions and they simply said: No, we don’t. Mind you, in any other location, these ropes are easy to find and to use. Sauna is broken. In conclusion, it sucks 🤷‍♂️

This is a good gym, but after Covid I have the impression that they don't really care too much about cleaning all the areas. The weights are always all over the gym, so it is really hard to find a set to do your workout. It's like the funding for repair, cleaning, maintenance is over. You feel like this is a forgotten business, nobody cares. The swimming pool has been closed for over 2 months. What happened here?
