Been an on-and-off LA Fitness member for over a year now, and after reading literally thousands of reviews across Yelp, Google, Reddit, and everywhere else, here’s the honest, no-BS summary that matches what pretty much everyone says:
It’s the ultimate “you get what you pay for” gym. For the price (still one of the cheapest national chains with month-to-month options), you get a ridiculous amount of locations, decent equipment variety, a pool, basketball courts, and free group classes. If you just want to show up, lift, do some cardio, maybe swim or shoot hoops, and leave, it does the job better than most places in this price range. Off-peak hours can actually feel halfway decent plenty of machines, shorter waits, and the vibe is tolerable.
Now the part literally everyone complains about (because it’s true):
Cleanliness is a coin flip. Some days it’s fine, other days the locker room smells like regret and the equipment is sticky.
Stuff breaks and stays broken forever saunas, hot tubs, half the cable machines, you name it.
Towel service? Good luck. Bring your own or prepare to air-dry.
Staff ranges from genuinely cool humans to people who act like you’re bothering them by existing.
Canceling or fixing billing issues? People write horror stories that could be Netflix documentaries. Read the contract twice and screenshot everything.
Bottom line: If your expectations are “affordable big-box gym with tons of locations and I’m not a neat freak,” you’ll be perfectly happy and probably give it 4 stars. If you want spotless, high-end, white-glove service, you’re shopping in the wrong aisle go pay triple for Equinox or Lifetime.
For the money, it’s still a solid 3 stars. Wipe down your own stuff, go at weird hours, and you’ll survive just fine. Millions of us do.

I had membership at this LA fitness for over a year and found it to be spacious and rarely too full. Even at 5pm during the weekdays, when other gyms are packed, this gym never felt too full. The staff was friendly and helped with any issues i had. I agree with the other reviewers that the weights are often not where they belong (the weight rack) and i've seen the dumbbells i needed used to prop open doors.

I have been a member at LA Fitness for at least two decades and have visited various in the area.
This particular gym is very nice, although they have been a little inconvenience with repairs, the associates are making sure that members are safe while using the premises. The REFRESH area is always incapable, the cleanliness is amazing. Keep up the great work guys!!!

The gym is very convenient for me when it comes to home and kid drop off. It is very spacious and the machines are very well spread around. People are friendly. Even though there has been construction going on for sometime, it does not impair you from working out.

Amazing gym!! I have been a member since 2001 at LA Fitness and this gym is excellent.
The bathrooms are always clean and so is the gym. The air conditioner is very important and it works amazingly.
All the employees at this gym go above and beyond to help the members.

Started this gym August, it’s October, and I had to call my breathing has been shortened I paid $200 to start and the annual fee they couldn’t refund me they should step up and tell customers they’re gym is full of Black MoLD before someone signs up and compromises there health I don’t recommend L.A fitness on top of they are ruining people’s health with fans running and spreading black mold spores they won’t help the customers get refunded over there neglect, I was a legit customer for 2 months I had to call to cancel because my breathing was shortened from the black mold and all they offered was a $40 refund very sad.

I feel like the owners of this gym are money hungry. There’s no reason for not having any type of sauna or steam room when you have at least 5 available units in the building to add stuff including a basketball court.
They have a few TV’s but they are hardly on and they are on their on la fitness advertisements. They trainers and receptionist don’t even speak why advertise 😂.
The other La fitness on US1 have (Daycare, basketball court, sauna, racketball courts & smoothie shop).
These Owners have to do better.

Half the rack of dumbells are always empty. You have to walk around the entire gym to find what you need. I went ahead and ask the staff at the front if they don't pick up the gym to keep it in tidy, their answer was WE DON'T HAVE ANYBODY TO DO THAT!! INCREDIBLE.

Only gym that I have been to in 20yrs that don't do that. Corporate will be informed now.

I’d give it 5 stars, except the weights are always strewn around the entire gym. Would be nice if the were put away.

I give this LA Fitness location 5 stars, and here’s why: I usually go to the gym at 5am, sometimes midday, and rarely around 8pm — but it’s the morning staff that really make the difference.

Andrew is always on time, opening the doors right at 5am with a big smile, which makes those early mornings so much easier. Belsky is always cheerful too, and I always notice her making her rounds to keep the gym clean.

The AM crew is truly the best — welcoming, reliable, and positive. They really set the tone for a great workout!

Although im Paying about 50 $ a month, and have my VIP guest registered and today the Gym denied him to come in, when I was explaining about it to THE MANAGER said his name is Carlos, refused to give his last name who dont speak English and not aware about how to check it in the system one of the front desk start to yal and talk in disrespectful manner.
And after he delayed us for almost 15 min .. he figured out that he have no clue what is happening and lut him in. And in addition we could it find a treadmill for 20 min.
This will be reported to Corporate and im going to look for another GYM up to expectations.

I came to the gym with a valid free guest pass, and yet I was denied entry simply because I was not ready to purchase a membership immediately. Not only was I refused the right to try the facilities, as the guest pass clearly states, but I was also told I had to pay either for a day pass or a membership. This is completely unacceptable and misleading. If the purpose of offering a guest pass is only to trick potential clients into paying before even experiencing the gym, then it is nothing more than a dishonest practice.

Good space and layout. Machines are mediocre but workable. The space is a double edge sword because 2% of the gym goers here know how to clean up after themselves and rerack their weights so get ready for a scavenger hunt when you need a dumbbell. You'd think people are people are getting into constant bar fights with the machines given how quickly they breakdown.

Pretty good if you can get in before peak hours though. I could give an extra star if there was some sort of re rack enforcement.

Machines not being proactively inspected has an issue in the past that has directly impacted me. An example is the the safety pins of the smith machine falling out when reracking my top set of an incline press. Bolts were loose on multiple occasions even after bringing it to their attention. I advise anyone to inspect machine before use. I should probably deduct a star for this but it seems they have been more on top of the equipment at least since the last time i checked.

I enjoy the new CDC quarantine asthetic. I've never seen it done before. It looks very nice.

I think this gym has a lot of potential to be even better than what it currently is. I think it’s a little bit inconvenient at the sanitizing stations are few and far between. I would like to be able to use a machine and actually have it work rather than be out of order. I’ve told the front desk at least three times since becoming a member here back in August that one of the stationary bicycles doesn’t work properly, I literally Was paddling for half an hour at a level 25 resistance, and the difficulty did not increase at all. The past three weeks there have been a few machines like one of the stationary bikes (not the one that I keep reporting, another one), And the leg press machine (which there are only two in the center area where the ab machines are) had been “scheduled for service”.

It’s pretty crappy that a gym in such a booming residential area has simple little things that can improve the quality of guests experiences

Terrible management. I went to cancel my membership and was told they couldn’t process the cancellation because there was no manager available. Instead, they sent me to another location to cancel it. That’s completely unacceptable, why is it possible to sign up for a membership at this facility but not cancel it there? It makes no sense.

Well, they didn’t tell me that. I had to search online to find other options besides going to another location. It’s their responsibility to provide that information, there’s no reason a member should be sent to a different facility just to cancel a membership.

Very sad how this New Gym went down hill quickly. Congratulations to management. More disorganized than Southland n Hialeah combine. Free weights, benches, dumb bells... everywhere except where they go. Hard to find any of 3 sets of light free weights for women. Good luck on mem weights. Could be in back rooms or under staff desk. Has pool. No spa. Amazing cleaning crew. Too bad staff is extra lazy n dont put weight back at end or begin of day. Staff on hand n management care more about been on their phones than condition of gym. water bottle left left gtm can be in same spot for weeks.

Gym is nicer than other LA Fitness locations but, my biggest issues are the weights everywhere and the cleanliness. One time I came right when they opened and the weights were EVERYWHERE. Now they have a policy of no weights by mat area which I honestly hate and it’s only half enforced.

They sectioned off part of the grass area for PT only sessions, which is unfortunate because those cables came in handy. The cables on the other side are hard to get a hold of.

The gym floor is often dirty. The paper towel dispenser in women’s bathroom has been broken for over a year and now the cycling room is closed for a period of time as they do construction.

I’m hoping with the end of construction this will be slightly more enjoyable.

Overall, I think this is a nice gym. Most machines work well and there’s a lot of space. The classes are a nice perk as well but, i don’t love coming here. If it wasn’t for the location and price i’d find another gym.

I was really disappointed with this gym, especially since those of us who live near the zoo had high expectations. The weights are often left in disarray, and the audio system in the spinning room has been out of order for two weeks. Additionally, people frequently spill water or energy drinks, and no one takes the initiative to clean up after themselves. This place could really benefit from a good manager.

I've been to several LA Fitness locations, and this one is my favorite. It has new equipment and is always clean when I visit. While it can get crowded at times, the staff does a great job keeping everything in top shape. Sometimes the weights are scattered, but that's more on the people and lack of gym etiquette than the gym itself.

I already had a very bad experience before and talked to the manager but it’s really disappointing to see that the staff doesn’t know how to help at all, so yesterday I cancelled a membership I was paying of two people and they only cancelled one, however they didn’t need the manager all they needed was my phone number and the confirmation and they emailed that to the manager and today they cancelled it, now I went in person to cancel the other person’s remaining membership now it turns out Chris is enforcing some policies that are dumb, I have to wait until Monday mind you it’s Friday and I have to accommodate and move my job schedule because the manager has to be here. Again it is a lie, I told him if he could send him an email and just cancel my membership like the other guy did, I’m so embarrassed I didn’t get his name because he was super helpful, now I have to wait to get manager so we can have a five second talk and he can press a button. This is absolutely ridiculous and then when I tried to call they didn’t answer, so how hard is it to cancel a membership and why is there only one manager, the only manager who can supposedly do it is there until 5 every weekday which is super inconvenient to the people who get out of work at 5 too? Make it make sense so the two days I have free and can go cancel it is when the manager is off as well and can’t help me or stay because he is out of work just like me. Honestly disappointing

I came started going here towards the middle of now and when they first opened and I used to be so amazed at how many options they had. Now it feels like they gave up entirely.

There’s three treadmills that are always broken, literal paper towel dispensers ripped off bathroom walls, leaking pipes from the ceiling, you can’t bring dumbbells in the aerobics studio EVEN THOUGH they BLOCKED off HALF of the workout zone, there’s mold in the showers and still no sauna/cryotherapy after the longest time of saying it’d be built! 🤦‍♀️

This place is absolutely a joke now. Honestly just look into other gyms nearby that don’t charge you as much. I don’t know how this place can charge this much and act like they offer so many things only for them to be like any, if not worse than other, gyms!

I have been a member since the day this location has opened and I enjoy having 6 or 7 Olympic lifting platform with racks. The biggest issue people review all gyms in Miami over is the equipment mess. I personally just can’t blame them for the disorganization of the weights though. They constantly announce to please rerack the weights and post notes all over the gym. It’s the members of this gym that make it a mess. It’s such a shame. Gym culture here is horrible but it’s a Miami issue. I’ve been to gyms around the country and it’s not as bad of an issue elsewhere. I wouldn’t blame them and would even encourage them to come up with a way to make those that don’t rerack accountable.

Now it’s a bummer they don’t have a sauna or childcare but I was told LA Fitness is moving in from that as a whole. Cryo has yet to open, which is incredibly unfortunate since it’s been over a year now.

I’m rating 3 stars because they are not 24 hours, they have yet to set up Cryo, and they only have wipes but don’t have hand sanitizers (at a gym? Come on).

Even though this LA fitness just recently open and has modern equipment and looks very beautiful inside, the only downside (or should i say downsides) i really hate (especially in 2023) there is no steam room or no sauna. For me these are very important because they do really help for recovering after work out and warming up before working out. In addition of not having steam room or sauna, they don't have tennis courts and a basketball court. I do hope they will eventually build them since they have three other la fitness nearby that have them. (Cutler Bay, palmetto bay, and Kendall) until then i will change my review and update it if they ever decide to build a sauna in the future.

The biggest issue by far are the dumbbells, they are literally everywhere. God forbid they're also on the correct rack. Same thing with equipment. The other day I was trying to do low row with the triangle and there was only a single triangle I could find even though there 3 lat Pull down and 2 low row cable machines. The organization in this gym really needs to be improved.

This gym isn't a year old and the class room walls and roof tiles are filled with mold. LA Fitness needs to stop having the people for cheap do their work. It seems everyone that I go to has mold. The place and the building are roughly a year old. Some of the equipment is rusting. Padding is cheap, fake leather. Several have already worn out OR reaped ( not at the seams) roof leaks in many places. I know this is hard to believe, especially on a building that is roughly 1 year old (+/-) but is true. The gym is large, takes up a lot of area, yet there's no one around to pick the weights dispersed all over the gym. No exaggeration; on more than two occasions, my son and I walked around the gym looking for dumbells of the appropriate weight, eventually found them, and had to walk one LONG block if not more to be able to use them in the bench section. Place is generally dirty. I'm cognizant is a gym, but there's loose dirt about, there's barely enough wipes to clean surfaces (or need to walk 1 block each way to find them) there's wipes, pieces of hand towels all iver the floor, dried chewing gum on the almost new synthetic turf and buckets of water where the roof leaks are dripping.

You literally spend 30 minutes doing cardio trying to find weights all over the gym 🤦🏻‍♂️ trainers should be putting weights back to where it belongs and so does the people that lift weights.

La música de Lunes a Viernes en el horario de 5am a 6am es DEPRIMENTE!!! Es extremadamente desordenado este horario, se nota que el gimnasio no contrata personal para que al cierre ordenen las cosas.

Deberian cambiar y mejorar la musica en la mañana ya que es cuando mas energia deben transmitir, en vez de poner heavy metal o rock que solo suenan GRITOS ABURRIDORES!!

I had the absolute worst experience here. The management is literally ridiculous. My parents pay a WHOLE membership every month on a family plan. We went to the facility today and we were declined our own access because my household member( MY MOTHER) was not there. Even though I am on the plan with my dad and we signed waivers. They have our IDS and declined our access. The manger infront a Latin middle aged man was extremely rude to my father and I. We are canceling our membership effective immediately. They treat their guest horrible.

Constantly out of wipes for the machines. People don’t re-rack their weights so you have a brand new gym with weights all over the place, including the cardio section. They allow people with their camera set ups right on the floor. Get it together!

Update:dropping to one star. It has only gotten worse. Weights are literally scattered through out the entire gym. Surprised I haven’t found some in the locker room. And now they’re watering down the soap in the bathrooms.

Worst LA fitness in the country on Sunday July 7 I went into the gym for a workout at 1 pm I parked next too the gym I come back 45 min later too all my credit cards stolen when I told this too the staff they disregarded me and said “it happened 3 times already “ I was in shock the staff knew about this and didn’t warn no was who was parking there worst management and staff that don’t care if your car will get broken into and robbed

Here we have a brand new LA Fitness without a sauna. With all the data they must have they still decided to allocate resources towards an unused pool. This is a perfect example of how a business failed to meet consumer wants and needs. Instead of having a sauna, basketball or pickleball they wasted space on a pool that no one will use. For your entertainment I’ll be posting daily pictures of the unused pool. PS. Instead of providing paper towels, they provide cheap thin wipes that only smear the sweat around. Please stop being cheap and invest in paper-towel dispensers. 🧻

Update: It's been a few months now and I still haven't seen a single person use the pool. You can smell the chlorine as you walk by. Make sure to bring a towel to wipe everyone's sweat from the machines.

Beautiful gym with very nice equipment but the gym is disorganized, very crowded and the people who workout here are very rude and messy. On my first day of a 3 day guest pass I was almost forced to open a membership meaning the 3 day guest pass is not free. They basically said I had to pay to sign up today then in 2 days I can cancel. At the end they let me try the gym for one day to say the least I will not be returning to this gym ever again. People hog machines, play on their phones instead of workout and it is like a complete social scene instead of a gym where you’re supposed to be working out. Also people can’t even re rack their weights, it’s messy with weights scattered throughout the entire gym. If I could give zero stars I would I’ll stick with the gym I currently go to this place is a complete turn off it’s sad bc it is a beautiful gym with amazing equipment and weights.

Este gym es un lugar que recomiendo, limpio, organizado, me encanta la distribución que tiene y el ambiente, todo el staff es súper amable como siempre y la verdad disfruto bastante yendo a este específicamente aunque lamentablemente no tienen canchas de racket ball, me resulta bastante conveniente y se disfruta bastante. Quisiera hacer una sola observación en tono de crítica constructiva, no se porque, no es el único gimnasio de la donde he notado este problema, y es que siento que los niveles del cloro en las piscinas y jacuzzis son bastante elevados, al punto en que no te sientes confortable respirando todo ese cloro, entiendo que el cloro mata gérmenes y que estos gimnasios son muy frecuentados pero me encantaría que revisaran esto si fuese posible a ver si son niveles de cloro recomendados, siento que es demasiado y podría afectar a nuestra salud.

I love the location. They might not have all the amenities that other gyms offer however works perfectly for me. All machinery is new, clean and all the staff are very friendly. Plenty of parking, kids care available, great schedules. Highly recommended.

This LA Fitness is clean, but definitely disorganized. It’s brand new so everything is pretty nice and new but it doesn’t seem like most members care about maintaining it. It’s really hard to find dumbbells at lower weights since they get taken and left around all areas of the gym.

The functional training area (Turf area) is VERY nice and has lots of amenities there. Sleds, battle ropes, kettlebells, trx straps, etc. I do love this area of the facility.

I tend to utilize the lap pool here a lot and think it’s quite clean and nice. Be sure to check class times as the pool is closed for normal use while the aquafit class is in session. I do wish they had kickboards to be able to use at the pool.

There is no sauna here which is strange considering it is such a new location. Staff is really friendly, but I wish they’d go around putting weights away every once in a while so they are organized at least once a week!

This gym is great very convenient location to my house. I go in the mornings and the guy at the front Pilipino is always so nice has a great attitude so early in the morning. There’s always at least 2 people who are cleaning the floors equipment it’s a great facility. I do wish it had a Sauna. All the equipment is always organized.

Not great. It’s a brand new gym and when I come in at 5am the weights are everywhere! It doesn’t appear the staff reorganize weights or anything before opening. Also when I go after work around 5 pm everything is everywhere! No one puts anything back and there’s no staff on the floor organizing anything. It’s a treasure hunt!
