Bring bug spray / Lysol so you can clean your locker you choose. There was a roach in my locker as I initially opened it. Showers are disgusting and full of little drain flies. The cleaning guy does nothing but refill the soap containers. Curtains are torn due to the shower trolls that do nothing but take hour long showers. This place altogether needs a facelift. Do not buy a membership at this location. If you’re looking to play racquetball, there is no air conditioning. I have spoken numerous times with the general manager, operations manager, and customer care representative/supervisor in Los Angeles, California. For over two months they Make various excuses why they are not able to fix the air conditioner. There are several other one star reviews, and to be honest with you. they’re right on point. First, let me start with the positive. The best thing about this gym is Isaac who welcomes everybody with a smile at 5 AM on weekdays. Isaac deserves a raise or promotion!

Also, the regulars who workout early are super nice. I lived next-door for two years so it was very convenient to work out here.

The reason why I’m switching gyms is that I want to be able to work out earlier on the weekends.Opening at 8 AM on weekends is too late. I prefer to be able to work out as early as 6 AM (or even earlier) just to avoid busy crowds and people keeping machines and benches occupied while on their phone or videoing themselves (super annoying). Another thing is that this gym gets way (!!) too busy outside of the early weekday time slots… I want be able to go in and out without having to wait a ridiculous amount of time before I can use certain machines or search for dumbbells because a lot of people just leave those in random spots throughout the gym. More staff to supervise equipment etc. would also be an improvement.

I recently moved and switched to a very clean 24-hr (yay!) gym with a ton of new equipment and all kinds of amenities for significantly less than what we paid at LA Fitness. The fact that I can go in anytime of the day is really an added bonus.

I will miss my gym buddies, but LA Fitness needs to step it up to keep up with the competition.

I really like this gym because it’s close to my house. Basically everything is as clean as it could be. I believe the back shower area could be cleaner. There’s always mold all over the shower. I don’t understand why they can’t spray them down nightly . the worst part about the gym is, it’s a cesspool of anger. There are people fighting with each other on the floor. They have dueling political stations in the cardio area such as CNN playing next to Fox and people argue back-and-forth over politics,, it has becomes a really stressful high energy workout that every time I leave I am frustrated. Everybody acts if they can do whatever they want there. They yell at each other over somebody talking on a cell phone. You have people yelling from the cardio floor to people down on the bottom floor. I wish they would get rid of the political shit on the TVs and just played music videos. We don’t need politics at the gym and it’s only going to get worse. The closer we get to the election, please do something about that. This is not a cheap membership. And now it has become puppy playground. Yes folks look forward to seeing so called service dogs running around

The men’s bathroom at this location is consistently in an unacceptable and unhygienic condition. A large number of members show no courtesy, respect, or consideration for others, and their behavior reflects complete disregard for basic decency. It could be a great gym. Great location. But it is not! The management is poor and very unprofessional. A Hispanic woman at the front desk is very rude. She loves Spanish-speaking people but is very rude with others. The facilities are dirty. Machines are rusted. As soon as you enter the front door, the smell of mold gets in your nose.

Gym:
Not clean, machines are rusted, and some of them are not safe. It is a big gym but with a lot of issues.

Parking lot:
Not safe in the sense that they scratched my car once. And when it rains, it pours and is flooded. It's not easy finding a parking spot when it rains hard. The flooding makes it impossible to walk through the parking lot.

Males locker room:
Dirty, stinking, not safe, and cockroaches walking around. Once they opened my lock and left it open. Something was missing, and I spoke with the manager. He did not have an explanation for why they opened my lock. Don't put your wallet, phone, and valuables in the lockers. They open it when someone claims he forgot his password, and they leave your locker open, and when you get there, your locker is open. The cleaning guy only goes around picking up papers and emptying garbage bins. The floors are dirty.

Showers and Toilets:
Dirty, moldy curtains falling apart, dirty floors...

Sauna:
It smells dirty and moldy; it was never warm enough. Sexual predators around!

SPA and Pool Area:
Not very clean; the jacuzzi is not very clean and is always not working properly or not working at all. They use cheap chemicals in the jacuzzi and pool. I got a skin infection, and my doctor told me it was from the gym jacuzzi. Twice I found 2 Band-Aids floating inside the jacuzzi. The pool was not bad, but it was never warm enough during the winter.

Water Fountains:
Always not working properly. Bad news!

The basketball court is bad news.
Many annoying 15-19-year-olds coming in and out. Very annoying.

Now, guys texting using their phones and also watching videos while holding the machines is another problem in this gym. The management does anything about it.
Too bad, because they have a great space and a great location. I was a member twice, and twice I have cancelled my membership. I wish they kept it clean and had a better manager.

I decided to cancel my membership at LA Fitness because the equipment is old and poorly maintained. But the real frustration came with the cancellation process.

When I signed up, I came in the evening after work — no issues at all. They were more than happy to take my money, even outside of business hours. But now that I need to cancel, they’re telling me I can only do it during business hours or by mail. I work full-time — how is that supposed to work?

On top of that, their hours of operation are terrible. Some days they close as early as 9 PM, and on weekends they shut down even earlier. It’s incredibly inconvenient for anyone with a normal work schedule.

If it was easy to sign up, it should be just as easy to cancel. The double standards and lack of flexibility show how little they care about the customer once you’re in. Very disappointing and not worth the headache.

⭐ Poor Customer Service and Unprofessionalism from Yosel at LA Fitness (3825 N Federal Hwy, Oakland Park, FL 33308)

I’ve been a loyal member of LA Fitness for quite some time, but my recent experience with one of the front desk staff members, Yosel, was beyond disappointing and completely unacceptable.

From the start, Yosel demonstrated a lack of professionalism, poor attitude, and insufficient knowledge about LA Fitness policies, particularly when it comes to the guest registration process. When I arrived with my guest, Yosel rudely informed us that guests must be registered every 30 days, without offering any helpful solutions or showing the basic courtesy you’d expect from a customer service representative. His tone was dismissive and his approach confrontational.

When I asked for further clarification, Yosel contacted his manager Mukesh, and instead of staying to resolve the issue, he walked away abruptly, ignoring us entirely, leaving his manager to address the situation. Mukesh clarified that the correct policy is guest registration every 90 days, proving that Yosel gave us incorrect information. However, rather than acknowledge the mistake or apologize for the poor experience, Mukesh excused Yosel’s behavior by saying “everyone is different and they deal with clients in their own way,” completely minimizing the situation and validating unprofessional conduct.

To make matters worse, Yosel has consistently shown this kind of entitled, condescending behavior, especially during closing hours. He approaches members with a hostile and impatient tone, often raising his voice and repeating himself rudely, as if clients are an inconvenience to him. His behavior lacks the basic respect and courtesy that LA Fitness claims to promote.

What’s most frustrating is that other staff at this location have always been courteous, helpful, and professional. Never have I been told to register my guest every 30 days until now, and never have I been treated so poorly by a staff member.

Customer service, especially in a fitness environment, is about creating a welcoming, supportive, and respectful atmosphere. It’s about clear communication, accurate information, and respectful interaction. Staff should be trained not just in policies, but in how to interact with clients in a way that motivates and supports their fitness goals. Unfortunately, Yosel falls far short of this standard.

I hope this issue is addressed seriously so other members don’t have to experience the same mistreatment. Until then, I’ll be reconsidering my continued membership at this location.

We had our first child in September 2024, and by December, my husband and I decided to cancel our LA Fitness membership. We just couldn’t go anymore. It’s now May 2025, and they still haven’t canceled it.

We called multiple times. My husband even went to the gym in person, but they told him only a specific person could handle cancellations and, of course, that person was never there. We were told to come back during business hours, which is nearly impossible with work and a newborn.

Eventually, we had to call our bank to block the payments. But that didn’t stop LA Fitness. They kept calling and trying to collect money for months we didn’t use, claiming it was all in the contract.

This experience has been nothing but stressful. The time and energy we’ve wasted trying to cancel has far outweighed any benefit we ever got from going. If you ever go through a life change or need to move, expect zero compassion and a lot of headaches.

If I could give zero stars, I would. LA Fitness is not a gym membership. It’s a trap. Do not sign up.

I stopped going and tried to cancel, but they made it nearly impossible. You can’t cancel online or by phone. They tell you to come in during business hours and speak to a specific person who is almost never there. So unless you're willing to miss work just to cancel, you're stuck.

I have been going to this gym for 7 months. The staff I encounter are very nice and helpful and always a smile. The gym does need updating though, especially the men's locker room, with broken lockers, mold in the showers, the ones which work that is. One shower has been out of service the entire 7 months I have been going here, which means if I end up there at a busy time, there is a wait. Hoping they put some money into this place in 2019 and remodel/update to make it current and clean.

Once I arrived I tried to scan my QR code but was instantly haulted by the workers, they then made me wait 30 minutes for the manager (mukesh) I believe his name is. Once he was available he greeted me with utter rudeness! Then proceeds to tell me I cannot play basketball at the gym under my 3 day guest pass, which did not state that because “too many people did it”. I have been going to multiple La Fitness facilities for over 20 years. I recently turn 65 and had my membership converted to a Silver Sneakers membership, which is paid by my Medicare insurance. I am a current member of LA Fitness and recently signed my guest up for the VIP week pass while we were traveling. Unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. When we arrived at the club, the manager turned us away at first, stating that my guest could either sign up for a membership or pay $20 for the day. This was extremely disappointing, especially since we had followed the proper procedure for the VIP pass. The lack of flexibility and understanding from the staff was frustrating and left a negative impression. After some convincing the manager “over-rid” the fee and let my guest use the pass I had given her. Meanwhile complaining the entire time that he can’t believe he’s doing this. I like this gym and I've been coming here for over 4 years, but I see that they never clean the urinals, toilets, sinks, pools, jacuzzi and saunas. These are places that should always be clean, as well as the machines. At night, when they finish, they should do a deep cleaning. It's understandable that many people use them, but they stink. I think if they are properly maintained, both the frequently used areas and the machines could look better. There's a reason you pay a monthly fee, and not just one person does it. Maybe there are many people who pay a monthly fee. Try to improve that because little by little, things deteriorate, and there won't be anything to fix if you don't act in time.

I used a guest pass today and went to the Fort Lauderdale, Florida location. I found it to be absolutely disgusting. It was dirty, had unsanitary and poorly kept lavatories, machines were in poor maintenance, members were walking around in sandals and open toed slides lifting weights and one member was completely shirtless and shoe less doing yoga sweating profusely everywhere. I don't think I've ever been to a gym so poorly ran. In the male bathroom there was advertisement for what appeared to be sexual provocative services. The attendants were chatting on their phones and headphones having personal conversations and acting very unprofessionally. Abysmal location. I went in to consider a membership and I can tell you I would not consider that location again. The location manager should be ashamed.

The smell in here is awful. I'm genuinely worried about what’s lurking in the air. Pretty sure the regulars have become immune at this point. The machines no one’s wiping them down. They need more sanitizing stations, because I’m over here hiking across the gym just to spray down a bench. The layout is super weird and cramped, you’re basically always shoulder-to-shoulder with someone. We only come here because it’s close, but honestly, the Pompano Beach LA Fitness is a whole other universe. It’s like a fitness paradise compared to this.

I visited this location and had the pleasure of meeting the manager, Michelle. She was absolutely delightful and provided exceptional customer service. Based on my experience with her, I would highly recommend LA Fitness, especially this location!

Hot tub wasn’t hot bad water. Regret getting in, had horrible skin infection pop up moments after getting out. My doc said hot tub rash. They need to clean their facilities.

The gentleman working on Saturday (today) around 430 pm followed me and and my partner into the bathroom and stood outside the stall while we were peeing and made false accusations towards us. And was completely rude.

They need to put a fan in the back by the showers so we can actually dry off… ventilation? Updating to at least ten years ago with automated dispensers would be great too. Customers can leave a mess and the staff does what they can though I wish they wouldn’t look in on the shower area but instead near closing just call out to everyone. One night the cleaning lady was on her phone standing there talking and FACING THE SHOWERS! One night at close I forgot to also grab my cord and adaptor with a gadget I was charging. I called the next morning and the lady behind the counter said she’d hold it for me. When I got there though, the woman acted like it hadn’t been secured for me in a drawer. I asked who could’ve taken it and as if it was normal she said that someone could’ve walked in there and taken it. They even have cameras but no one was interested in seeing what NON-EMPLOYEE was going through their drawers. Watch out folks, there are a lot of thieves and con-artists in FTL. There should be NO PHONES allowed in the bathroom area, especially the sauna and tennis shoes and smelly socks in the sauna?? Shoes up on the benches?? If people aren’t able to think for themselves or for others… rules have to be made.
