I’d give it a zero star if I could. Sauna rarely works, machines are rusted. Carpet is dirty, the air conditioning was out for at least a month during a hot month in Florida, the only good thing here is Courtney’s spin class. I tried canceling online multiple times but the website never works, they don’t answer the phone, I’m currently at 7 mins calling and it’s just ringing off the hook with no one answering after I tried multiple times. Leaving and going to the updated YMCA in Port Orange. LA fitness needs an overhaul for how much they charge. Do NOT get a membership here. You have been warned.

The pool is a great feature. However, on the days there are classes. The attendees take over the pool 60 minutes before the class is supposed to start. No one monitors this and anyone wanting to swim for fitness is not permitted to workout. If you are going for the pool, choose the YMCA, water aerobics does not interfere with lap swimming. The pool is a lot cleaner too.

I signed up here last Sunday and specifically asked if the pool ever closes for classes. I was told no.. that classes would be arranged around regular swimmers. Well, just six days later, I came early for a swim, and in the middle of my training I was asked to leave the pool for a class. There were only about 15 people in the class, who could have easily used just two lanes, but instead the entire pool was closed.
Very disappointing, poor business practice and management.

Canceled my membership over a year ago and they kept charging me. I went in again and canceled and they said it is all done. Then they kept charging me. I called multiple times, having it ring for more than 20 minutes each time and they never pick up the phone. This is the worst management ever and I would avoid.

Almost physically heard the Rocky Balboa theme song in the pool area today! For those that put blood, sweat, and tears into brightening and whitening the pool deck, it is sparkling! Crazy beautiful job folks!

*update, I'm changing my review to a two because it appears someone finally attempted to clean a few pool area items, as the cleanliness improves, so will my score....
Don't join this gym if you expect it to be clean The pool area in this gym is absolutely disgusting
There's white crusty stuff along the trim going out to the pool, it's never been cleaned up, it's there every day
there is black mold growing everywhere in the pool area especially in and around the hot tub.
The edges are coated in black mold, and I have reported it to management and it still has not been taken care of, I brought a nail brush out one day just to see if that black stuff around edges comes off, the spot I tried cleared up with two brush strokes, so that stuff CAN be cleaned
An ear plug sat on the ground for over two weeks, which means they don't clean that pool deck.
There's little piles of dirty water and grimmy tiles everywhere.
A scrub brush with bleach water would clean this right up.

BUT ! THE WATER IS SO COLD ! Uncomfortable! I hope someone can read that and adjust the thermostat!

Haven’t been a member of LA for some time due to lack of maintenance but used one while traveling and I can say they are least consistent. Consistently bad and is what you would expect in LA. Dirty Ill maintained and dated. Running a corporate gym takes barely more competence than a lemonade stand but somehow management can’t seem to perform just the basic hygiene and functional requirements. It’s as if they put in an effort to make these places horrible.

The best overall gym around. Please stop complaining about the gym. The only other option in Port Orange is the YMCA filled with kids. If it's too dirty, wash your hands and/or machine before and after- Wear flip flops everywhere instead of bare feet etc. College age kids work here....because it's a gym.
The complaints here are ridiculous. I have been going for 7-8 years and we all want LA to stay open.

Today's a day to visit at LA Fitness in Port orange. Upon my arrival at the front desk, the receptionist and an associate had kindly directed me to the classroom when I asked. Roomy downstairs and upstairs , a tidy & and inviting atmosphere with a spacious classroom where you could Zuma your way. I'll revisit again soon. Thank you 😊

Been coming here for over a month, great gym! I noticed people complaining about tempature... thought we were going to a gym, lol! Wish it was hotter. I enjoy the machines, kid care is outstanding, smoothie bar always has staffed with a smiling face, Russ took great care of my family and made it easy signing up. Plan on coming for foreseeable future. To anyone complaining go visit ampd... lol, you'll come running back.

I’ve been coming to this gym for a while because it makes my way to my work in the mornings the people we are at that time are phenomenal but the cleaning is disgusting the air conditioning doesn’t work well so it’s very hot one doing exercises I see many negative comments towards this facility and I don’t think the manager of this place reads the comments it’s a shame because he can lose many customers the whole gym is dirty wherever they want they should have a little respect towards the customers because the membership is paid very dearly

This review is constructive criticism as the gyms around the areas are improving and this gym is losing traction. Newer weighted/cardio machines and more leg weighted machines would help. More variety of machines. More cleaning stations with wipes that aren't dry the moment you take them out and or alcohol spray with paper towels. Water stations that you dont have to walk a mile to find and ones with automatic water dispensers. Bathrooms need remodeling. Everyone who has a membership or works here deserves to be able to praise the gym and it's amenities.

I tried to cancel my membership but the employee who was supposed to cancel it never did and so I kept getting charged for 6 months. When I called the store they said my membership was active, and then I called corporate and they said it wasn’t. They scammed me out of hundreds of dollars and only refunded 1 month.

Huge gym with swimming pool and hot tub, and of course, locker rooms. 2nd floor is all treadmills, climbers, bikes, an elipticals. Ground level is free weights. Machines, spin and exercise classes, racquetball courts, basketball court, pool, hot tub and locker rooms. Often crowded, so you need to be patient sometimes. Generally kept very clean, and machines get serviced as needed.

This LA Fitness is getting bad, as I'm trying to recover from post covid fatigue and trying to recover my stamina, they close the basketball court until further notice, not for covid reasons, but for weapon related issues...
Someone pulled a weapon on other guys at the cour this past week (February 2021) and since they have ZERO cameras and no one wanted to testify, the guy who did, walks off clear of it all...
In addition, they've had a series of break-ins into the lockers, but again since there are no cameras at the entrance of the lockers, you can't even pinpoint who was there at a particular time, one time they even thought I was the one because I was the last one to enter the gym itself.
When asked about putting cameras, they said it was a corporate decision, they said 5 break-ins in 2 months was not enough for them to put cameras, it's because it's not their belongings. A WYZE camera sells for $25, and a whole setup at Sam's club cost $200.
Oh, and in addition there are many car break-ins as well, again no cameras because the owner of the shopping center doesn't want to put any.
Maybe if they threaten to leave and apply some pressure. I'm sure the insecurity and shopping center maintenance could be a breach of contract.
Maybe they can hire an armed police officer from 4pm to 10pm, as this is where the most problems occur... I've seen other gyms do that...
All that to say, it's time for LA Fitness to start acting accordingly and do something about it...
Enough is enough...!!!!
Update May 2025
There is gunk on the floors that has been there for months, especially in the Unisex bathroom. As a handicap person, I have no choice but to use the unisex bathroom, and its absolutely disgusting.
I've asked for the past few weeks for the staff to clean it, and its never done...
The staff was always nice about it, except for tonight, the young lady closing the gym had an attitude with me and told me they were understaffed...
Understaffed doesn't mean you can't clean even once a week, I've asked for weeks...
I see people walking with brooms and nothing ever gets cleaned, do they clean and mop like Prince Hakeem in Coming To America?
Come on, if nothing gets done, I will have to co tact corporate as this is unsanitary and a health risk.

I've been going here for years. Unfortunately I can't recommend this place like I use to. The ratio of rust to paper towels was so poor they had to remove all the paper towels dispensers... If that wasn't bad enough they recently decided not to run the AC during peak hours. Alot of the regulars are obviously going elsewhere. It just doesn't look like a gym you pay $30+ a month for.

I love LA fitness and have been to multiple La Fitness and Esporta locations across the country. Port orange compared to other locations truly lacks a functional movement area with box jump equipment, barbell equipment etc. Plus the small space they do have is closed off half the time for personal training (which I’ve never seen in any LA fitness gym). I think it’s time for a upgrade\change so everyone get’s their moneys worth.

New Year’s Eve was supposed to be a time for reflection and celebration, but my experience at LA Fitness was ruined because of Chris, the operations manager. I came to get a workout in before closing, and when the staff announced the gym would be closing in 10 minutes, I rushed through my sets to finish up.
As I was wrapping up, a staff member politely informed me that it would be my last set. I respected that and finished quickly. Afterward, I went for a brief 20-second set, but then I was called to the register to scan my QR code. The staff member, Bobby, asked for my phone number. When I asked why, he repeatedly refused to explain, which made me feel uneasy. Despite this, I complied, and he issued a warning notice, saying my membership could be canceled if I stayed late again—even though other members were still using equipment and leaving at the same time.
Then Chris got involved. Without understanding the situation or asking what was going on, he immediately yelled at me to leave. When I calmly tried to explain and pointed out that others were still working out, he accused me of “running my mouth” and escalated the situation unnecessarily. His aggressive behavior and unwillingness to listen were shocking, especially coming from someone in an operations management role.
I felt humiliated and disrespected but chose to come back and apologize—even though I wasn’t in the wrong. Bobby, the staff member, handled the situation professionally and spoke to me respectfully, but Chris refused to engage maturely. He didn’t care about resolving the issue, only about asserting his authority.
To make matters worse, I was unfairly charged for the next month’s membership ($42) even though my account was canceled by their decision. Additionally, I had to pay an $80 reinstatement fee to continue using the gym. Both charges feel unjustified, as I believe the cancellation was unwarranted and the situation was mishandled entirely. I also feel that Chris and the staff took advantage of me because I’m 16 years old. They likely assumed I wouldn’t cause a scene or take the matter further, and that made this treatment feel even more unfair and disrespectful.
Chris’s behavior was completely unacceptable. Operations managers are supposed to lead by example and resolve issues professionally. Instead, Chris demonstrated unprofessionalism, arrogance, and a lack of respect for members. I understand that it was New Year’s Eve and the staff wanted to go home, but that’s no excuse for yelling at a paying member, treating them disrespectfully, or mishandling the situation.
To the higher-ups at LA Fitness: Chris is not fit for an operations management role. If his first instinct is to yell at members and cancel memberships over minor misunderstandings, he’s doing more harm than good to your gym’s reputation. I strongly urge corporate to investigate this matter and provide a fair resolution, including a refund of the unjust charges and an acknowledgment of how this was mishandled.
Chris, if you’re reading this, I hope you take time to reflect on how you treat people. Your behavior ruined what should have been a positive experience, and no member deserves to feel the way I did. I hope future interactions with members will be more respectful and professional.

I was going in with a friend who i was signed up as his guest. When we walked i was told i was not on his pass even though neither of us had taken any action to change it, furthermore i was told i would need to get a new signature as i am 17. While this is annoying, I understand that these things happen, the actual issue was the down right condescending, rude, and overall disrespectful manner of the employee who dealt with the issue. From the very start he treated us as if we had done something terribly wrong when we were simply trying to get in to work out. It is also important to note that at no point were we aggressive but rather simply confused.

I had an appointment for 2 pm with the Manager to take a walk through the facility and talk about the possibility of joining. Upon my arrival the Manager was nowhere to be found, in fact I was told he was out to lunch - Strike 1. There was a young man there named John who according to him had just started working there but was kind enough to show me around the facility and talk about the membership options. He was quite the gentleman and very professional. He stepped in and covered his bosses ass and lack of professionalism. You DONT make an appointment with a prospective client and then not even be there - Strike 2. Upon completion of the tour is was quite evident this place is a bit old and not updated. Some of the weight machines were showing their wear and tear with some very rusted. I question whether they were even working correctly. Strike 3 - one of the men’s showers was all tapped off indicating some type of issue. All said from the outside looking in it was that bad as a facility but the more I looked at the details of this facility the worse it got. Suffice to say I won’t be joining this Health Club. LA Fitness should be ashamed of this facility in Port Orange Fla. They should also get a Management Team in place with the experience of running a Health Club. I’m sure this is NOT the image LA Fitness Corporate wants to portray. Very Disappointing. Good Luck & Best Wishes - Your Going to Need It!!

I recently had a disappointing experience at this gym. The facility was consistently dirty, with the cleanliness of the equipment and overall environment falling far below acceptable standards. The restrooms were particularly unsanitary, which made using them an unpleasant experience. To make matters worse, some staff members were rude and unhelpful when these issues were raised. Due to these problems, my friends and I have decided to cancel our memberships. I had canceled with this LA Fitness back in 2018 because machines are old and not kept in working condition including the Sauna. Well thought I would try again just this last month. Well the sauna has yet to be available it’s been a month or so, the machines are still broken and cable machines are not kept running smoothly . In addition, I have been charged 2 monthly fees in the one month and unable to speak with the manager . I was informed by 3 different employees at the desk that it’s Chris I have to speak with for a refund. However, Chris is either not working that day, left earlier, or is never available on the phone. Even better, I am charged through my insurance nothing with LA Fitness. So I will just deal with the smaller gyms. On upside if you need a salesperson they are all over you when you enter the gym.

Previously I would have given this location 5 stars. Recently the sauna was remodeled, 10 days without the sauna was a stinker but understandable. Then an additional 7 for further unexpected repair. Not fun but understandable again. What I can’t understand is why the sealing wood panels don’t line up exposing gray insulation and why I have splinters in my behind and leggings from sitting and leaning on the wall after the sauna remodel is completed. When I brought it to the attention of a “manager” he told me that’s expected there should be a sign warning about splinters. There is no sign! And there has never been a sign prior to the remodel which leads me to believe that’s NOT normal. Lots of ladies use the sauna in little to nothing this is unacceptable and dangerous. The wood needs to be sanded at the very least!

I am incredibly frustrated and honestly feel this is borderline fraudulent. I went in person to cancel my membership in February as I was moving out of county, have not been in the gym since January. Received a written paper that my membership was canceled. Got billed again in May. Called twice in May and was assured it was canceled. Got billed in June. Spoke with staff twice and the manager Josh twice last week (called once in the morning once in the afternoon) who assured me he had e-mailed me paperwork . I called this morning around 8:30 and asked to speak to a manager. Was told there are two- Josh and Chris. I was told i would receive a call back asap. I have now called again at noon and while Josh tried to send an e-mail. despite literally over 7 attempts to get any kind of documentation, was referred told there is nothing more they can do. I am beyond frustrated.

I was a member of LA Fitness in Port Orange for a while now, and overall, it was a positive experience. As with all LA Fitness locations, the facilities, classes, and equipment are top-notch. The variety of classes offered caters to all fitness levels. But, the equipment is old and many of the treadmills do not work and rusty.. The staff is friendly, but they do push you to get personal training, which in my opinion, is expensive, and not really that great.
a significant downside: the facility itself is in desperate need of repairs, especially when it rains. It seems like the building is literally falling apart during bad weather, with leaks and water damage being a common issue. This can be quite frustrating and detracts from experience. Pool was closed for months, and the sauna out of order very often.I hope management addresses these structural problems soon to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all members.
Overall, I enjoy my workouts here but I strongly urge the facility to invest in much-needed repairs and deep clean.

Started coming to this gym location when I’m in town for the beach. I typically go Orlando locations south of Port Orange. Equipment is older than some of the newer locations in central Florida yet still fully furnished of all the amenities. Besides the racketball courts I truly enjoy the sauna, which is the hottest I’ve ever been in my life 220 F. Hot tub, swimming pool, and showers much cleaner than typical locations that are neglected of proper cleanliness. If you’re looking to get your gym and sweat on this would be the only LA in the area for miles.

Had an absolutely horrible experience with the General Manager Named Chris. I would provide a last name or initial if it was given but he refused to provide that information.
All I wanted to do was cancel my family plan as I was the primary card holder. I had already spoken to Chris the week prior to make sure that the canalization would take effect before I was charged for the next month.
He told me that it was taken care of only for me to discover a new charge to bank account in the following days.
I re-entered the gym today to resolve the issue and was instantly met with hostility.
He was immediately rude,
interrupted me multiple times,
Despite my multiple attempts to de-escalate the situation, he continued to act belligerently saying, "I am only matching your energy."
I even tried to apologize if I did anything to upset him and told him I don't want any anger or hostility. Only for him to continue yelling and gaslighting me.
He said he had zero recollection of talking or helping me prior.
He claimed that this problem was entirely my fault.
He claimed that even though I was the card holder of the account, I had zero control over the activity of the other members of my family plan.
He claimed the only way for the other members to be canceled was for them to go to each of their own local LA fitness's and cancel it themselves.
When I told him I wanted to speak with corporate, he attempted to physically grab a piece of paper out of my hand. (the paper contained his first name and phone number.)
At this point my problems were three fold.
1. I have multiple members tied to my account that I cant cancel.
2. I have already been charged money for these inactive members. (even though I already attempted and was told they were canceled.)
3. I have been treated extremely rudely by the senior staff member.
At this point my only option was to call the corporate office and explain the situation.
They instantly told me that as the primary card holder, it was indeed MY RESPONSIBILITY and I had every right to cancel the other members on my plan.
The corporate office wasted no time canceling the other members and providing me a refund.
I want to state that never before have I ever felt such hostility or anger coming from any other employee at this location or any other location I have visited. The corporate office was very professional as well.
It is really a shame because LA fitness is a great gym with a great environment.
Although it is clear as day that Chris, the GM at this location, has some serious anger issues and has no right to be working in customer service.

The pool has been down for two months now. No one knows when it will be fixed, and furthermore, no one seems to care. I suggested the club work out an arrangement with the local YMCA or other facility so we could use another pool until it's fixed, but nothing has been done. The management of this club met my concerns with outrageous sarcasm, “What do you want me to do? Build an inflatable pool?”
I wrote to corporate and got a generic, "sorry for the inconvenience" response, but no action taken. I asked for a partial reimbursement of monthly fees since I couldn't use the pool (my main reason for choosing this gym), and have gotten zero response on that.
I can understand plumbing issues can happen, parts can be unavailable, delays in repairs .... but for LA Fitness to do NOTHING to support or compensate its members for such an extended outage is completely unacceptable.
Good luck finding and keeping members with this kind of management. I am part of a large, local fitness community here, and I will be dissuading everyone I know from ever using this gym.

Treadmills don’t work or lateral cardio machine. Pedals loose or don’t adjust I have been here since club opened. Never see any staff checking machines. They put Mats in the middle of floor and people constantly walking on them. there are white bugs on matts upstairs and on a machine i was using on a separate occasion. i reported it but staff act like they could care less

Management don't care about you. The pool has been broken for at least a month as of 5/10/24 Since I have a single membership Everytime I go-to another gym it cost me $10.00 out of my $30 which is 33%of my membership because of their broken pool. I wrote a note as instructed and of course the manager never got back to me. I resolved it by calling corporate. But why should I have to do that.
Since then the pool has not been fixed and when I stop by to ask when the front desk agent, sales people don't know and don't care with statements like it will be fixed whenever and of course the manager is never around. If I was the district manager I'd fire the whole staff in there

Pool has been down, missing ceiling tiles/leak marks, machines are all rusted if you find a new one it’s like a golden egg, the air conditioner can’t possibly be functioning properly because at 5am the gym shouldn’t feel like it’s 80 degrees when they have been closed all night. Unfortunately what this gym has going for it is location for me at the moment but starting to reconsider if a further drive for a better gym is starting to became more of a priority.

I am incredibly disappointed with the management at this gym. For over a month and two weeks, the sauna has been out of order, rendering one of the facility's key amenities unusable. Additionally, numerous pieces of equipment have been broken and remain unfixed, making it difficult to have a productive workout.
Even more concerning is the state of the gym's infrastructure. When it rains, the ceiling leaks water, creating hazardous conditions for patrons. Furthermore, the cardio equipment desperately needs maintenance, as it's evident that it hasn't been properly serviced in quite some time.
Despite repeated complaints, the manager has failed to address these issues effectively. It's unacceptable that such fundamental problems have persisted for months without any resolution. As a paying member, I expect better standards of maintenance and management.
I will be contacting corporate to file a formal complaint about these ongoing issues. It's clear that the current management is not prioritizing the well-being and satisfaction of its members. Action needs to be taken to rectify these issues promptly.

In line with other recent reviews-
Pros-
Indoor b-ball court
Pool/Hot tub
Lots of equipment
Lots of classes
Spacious
Cons-
Overall dirty and old. B-Ball court has same debris in corners for weeks. Floor has weak spots especially under rims. Basketballs very worn and old.
Equipment is aged or left outside at some point, very rusty on a lot of equipment.
Doesn't seem like anything has been updated in the gym for a long time.
Rarely anyone cleans equipment after use, and if you try yourself, hard to find supplies. Wipes are regularly out and hard to find a spray bottle and towel which I feel like was easier pre-Covid so doesn't make sense.
Hand wash stations out of hand soup in bathrooms. Today had to try 4 different sinks to find soap.
Showers regularly out of soap, today 6 showers had no soap.
No TP in several stalls.
Stocking of supplies seems to be a supply issue or laziness- because every time I'm there I see someone vacuuming, mopping floors, but that's it. But leads you to wonder on the attention to detail missing from the court floors, to inside lockers, corners in general.
Overall it's very busy so even though lots of equipment, lots of people in certain areas might make it unappealing.
Wish they had a bigger b-ball court, hard to get on to play sometimes.
Operating hours are very limited, especially weekends. Wish they had later evening hours till 11p weekends and at the very least 10p weekends.
Expensive. It does have the most amenities of anywhere our side of the county, YMCA probably the next closest, but seems like for the cost, you'd expect better maintenance of the place.

This club is in need of a makeover as well as deep cleaning. There is powdered rust dust on most of the weight trees that gets all over your hands and clothes if you aren't careful. The carpet is old and worn out. There is a stretching mat upstairs that wreaks of body odor. I told the manager they needed to replace the mat and he said they were lucky to get basic repairs done by LA Fitness let alone replace a simple 6' X 10' mat. I was in this gym 7 years ago, and still haven't seen one new piece of equipment. They don't even have a standing calf raise machine. Based on the managers reaction to replacing a simple mat I wouldn't even bother asking for anything else. I only go there for convenience right now, but it won't be for long.

The equipment is really old it always smells dirty. The bathrooms are always dirty their great at taking your money, but not so good at updating any of their equipment or keeping the place clean. Every time I pick up the handheld bar bell they stink really bad odor, they’ve never been cleaned. The place is always overcrowded and not enough equipment, and these young generation just sits on the machines and plays with their cell phone for long periods of time in between sets, and are not considerate of others that want to get their workout in and get out. Also, they put a stretch pad in the middle of the gym, where everybody is watching you stretch it used to be in a corner where you could feel private. In the summer they don’t hardly put on AC so it’s extremely hot. There are some pros they have some classes in a pool and a sauna. I really wish they had some body pump classes but I have no complaints the classes they have are there if you want to use them but their equipment is just awful for the money planet fitness for $10 has better equipment than they do And planet fitness has tanning red light therapy and massage chairs and beds and you can use multiple gyms for just $20. If there was a planet fitness closer to my house I would quit LA indefinitely join planet fitness.

I was a member here for 2+ years and I am now changing gyms. Here’s my detailed pro/con list and why I’m switching:
Pros:
1. their equipment has a decent amount of variety (just not enough of it)
2. offers things no other gym in the area does (indoor pool, sauna, basketball court, racquetball),
3. plenty of group classes as far as I could tell (never used them)
4. has TONS of dumbbells (2.5lbs increments all the up to 55lbs)
5. when equipment breaks they fix it quickly
6. nutrition shop (didn’t really use that either because it’s pricey)
Cons:
1. equipment is old. Very old. As you can see in the pictures, mostly everything is worn down and rusty. The treadmills are so old they have a phone charger that hasn’t existed in over a decade. In the two+ years I was a member, there wasn’t a single piece of new equipment that was brought in.
2. The gym is ALWAYS busy. Too busy for the amount of equipment they have, they need more. There have been multiple instances where I have waited 50 minutes for a single machine. I am tired of having to fight for equipment, especially for cable attachments like ropes and handles.
3. Gym hours are very short on the weekends (8am-7pm). Sometimes I need to workout in the evening and if you don’t get there before 5pm you don’t have time to get in a full workout. Closing time is just too early.
4. Ventilation in the men’s bathroom is awful. I never use the sauna but the whole bathroom feels like one.
5. A significant amount of members are rude for no reason. They act like they own equipment they are using when other members pay the same amount of money for a membership as they do. Don’t go to a public gym if you don’t want to share. There no reason to be rude when someone politley asks how many sets you have left. (The management can’t do anything about this, it’s just something that I haven’t experienced at any other gym I’ve been a member at)
Why I’m switching: For the amount of money it cost to go here, it’s not worth it considering I don’t use the pool and sauna and rarely the basketball court. I can get a membership to a smaller gym that isn’t as busy, with 24/7 hours and has newer equipment and is kept cleaner AND is $10 cheaper every month. To me, that’s a no brainer. Should have done it sooner.

Otherwise they’ll take it even was a lock. They took that off, cut it off and stole my gym bag. Three months before that my phone was stolen. This review is dedicated to management of the LA Fitness Club in Port Orange Florida. I have been a member of this club for several years and frequent the gym about 3-4 times a week. It’s conveniently close to home, that’s the only reason I keep coming back.
The cleanliness of this facility needs to be addressed. On many occasions, the locker room/restroom soap dispensers are completely empty, there’s no toilet paper in at least one of the stalls, and the garbage is almost overflowing. There have been several occasions where this issue is not resolved for days. I find it very hard to believe that the 3 or 4 employees at the front desk cannot take an hour out of their work day to check the cleanliness of this facility and replenish soap so your members do not catch Hepatitis from people not washing their hands after using the restroom (which I have personally witnessed several times). I have informed the employees at the front desk several times of this issue, and their response is the janitor is not in… so if the soap in the restroom is out, no one is qualified to fill it??? Maybe come up with an hourly rotating schedule for each employee to either stock the toilet paper, empty the garbage, fill the soap dispensers, etc. It’s not that difficult and this is something that should be done regardless of what day or time of day it is. But with that said, the soap should not be empty and the garbage should not be full at 6:00am in the morning. Do better!
Oh by the way, those 20 or so tiny fans 50 feet above the floor do absolutely nothing to circulate the air. With how much money is saved by not turning down the A/C, management could invest in a couple big fans that actually move the air. Not sure if your intention is to make the club feel like a sauna, as the saunas in the locker rooms are out of service at least every couple months…. but you might want to take some of the membership fees and turn down the A/C a couple degrees. Even the weights on the machines stick together because it is so humid in there. That’s nasty. It’s Florida in the summertime.

I never do reviews but this one had to be done. This is the only "decent" gym close to where I used to leave and that is the only reason why I started my membership here even after a bad experience at the beginning. I toured the facilities and got my 3-day pass on February 25th which I used from 25-28th! When I came in on March 1st, they changed their memberships to not include free guest passes (which it did when I toured and they guy had told me that it was included). Even after talking to the General Manager (Case I believe is his name), the associate told me that it couldn't be done. I went to the parking lot and called corporate offices and they fact checked and got in contact with the Regional Manager and they were able to add it in. After a couple months of traveling around Florida and going to over 10 different LA/Esporta Fitness, this location has the worst manager of all. I had to move away for personal reasons and I called between 7am-10:30am in different occasions to cancel my membership and I was told that the manager was either occupied or not in yet so he would call me back when he could. I called 4 different times including yesterday at 9:43am. I finally get ahold of him today because this time I call around 3pm and he tells me (in a bad attitude) that the membership could not be cancelled over the phone, that I had to do be in person or print a form and send it to Corporate Offices in California. I agreed to send the form but asked if we could do something about the charge that they just did today because I had called on various occasions and I haven't even been to LA in months and he proceeds to tell me (in a bad attitude again) that he it is "untrue and unreal" that I called because he is there 5 days a week from 9-6 "regular business hours". I called yesterday at 9:47am and he wasn't in yet, at least that's what I was told by the nice associate that I talked with yesterday. I proceeded to end the call and call corporate offices and they cancelled it in 2 minutes. Nothing against LA Fitness as a company, nor the other associates this is a review for the General Manager of this location. He is not meant to work with customer service, much less as a General Manager. I hope he takes into consideration being a bit more friendly and less confrontational in the future.

Looks like the classes are packed, which is good. But for my purposes I won't be coming back after my 3-day free trial even though I live 5 minutes away.
Heat rises. So why on Earth is all the cardio equipment on the top floor with a low ceiling, with the main ceiling fans too far out to get a breeze? That combined with the quality of the treadmills makes me feel like I can't breathe properly. I'm winded after running a mile and a half, yet I was running 4-5 miles no problem at another gym.

Told the woman at the front desk this lady was on the same machine for 40 minutes walking all over the gym to workout. This lady in the green shirt intentionally left her stuff on this machine so no one could use it. To this day she’s probably on the same machine lol. I waited a good 20 min before I told the front desk woman with short brown hair in a ponytail. Then came back another 20 minutes when rush hour ended. The 1 star is because I’ve had people get too close when I’m lifting or blatantly take up the Dumbell rack to shoulder shrug….. goofy

We started off on the wrong foot. We were scheduled for a consult and tour the facility and we were never added to the calendar, so we showed up and we weren’t on the schedule. Whatever! We just worked out since we were there. They definitely need to replace some equipment. Most of the elliptical machines are rusty. Pads on machines are ripped. Front desk is not very welcoming or helpful. Uncomfortably hot in the facility; fans are so high up due to 2nd story that they are more for looks. It’s also near impossible to get into the weight room on most days. My husband and I are members and recently decided to bring our 13 year-old daughter to check out the facility. We thought we could bring her as a guest but she either needed a drivers license (13 yr old…) or we had to pay $20. We just wanted her to try out the facility for a week or 2 to see if she’d be interested in being added onto our membership. But we had to turn around and take her home because she wasn’t able to come work out on our guest pass. We were dumbfounded and frustrated. Not impressed! Room for lots of improvements!

Her classes are challenging and you can really see how dedicated and passionate about fitness she is. I’m happy we joined.
