I've been with this gym since it opened. It's a really decent place to work out. It may have lost the shiny new feeling that it once had but the equipment is solid and decently maintained. It may get a little busy at times, but the people are friendly and many willing to share equipment when it happens.

I have mentioned more than 3 times over at least a month that the club does not have a single water fountain with cold water. You would not think you would have to ask but even with multiple mentions of this issue still no fountains have anything but luke warm water! Unacceptable imo!

This is a great gym, especially if you want a hassle free workout. No large groups of youths working out and sitting on the equipment socializing. Definitely a mature crowd, not just in age but in the seriousness of working out. Feels like a private club. Never crowded, plenty of equipment, never a wait for equipment.

The cleanest gym I’ve been to in a long time. Every time I’ve been there,there has been an attendant on duty making sure it stays that way. I’ve haven’t seen any broken equipment.

Finally the staff is great. Katie and Tom were able to answer all my questions when I came to check out the facility. I felt so comfortable there that I joined that day. No regrets at all, really enjoy working out here

Final line, if you are looking for a club that’s clean, well maintained, well equipped and not crowded, this is the club to join.

I am a Triathlete. I joined LA Fitness mainly because of the pool. It is well kept and maintained; no other gym has a pool.
I also love their stationary bikes and spin classes. Their treadmill options are great as well. They have so many units that I never have to wait for one.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. My last interaction with a front desk staff member, Katie, was invaluable.
They seem to strive to make your experience better. Highly recommended

Equipment was sub standard. At least two seats (Upright bench and on a weight machine) were very wobbly. During exercise, it is possible to injure your back if your seat shifts. I'm sure the staff were unaware, but really, you should take care to ensure ALL of your equipment is safe. I enjoyed the layout, and staff were friendly.

This gym has gone downhill fast. The AC has been broken for months, and management clearly doesn’t care. It’s miserable—and unsafe—to work out in a facility with almost no air circulation.

Instructor morale is at rock bottom. Many of the best instructors have left, and those who remain are visibly frustrated. Classes, once the highlight here, have lost their energy and consistency.

Why isn’t leadership doing anything? Members are paying full price for a neglected, uncomfortable, and understaffed gym. Totally unacceptable. Until management fixes these issues, I can’t recommend this location to anyone seeking to attend classes with instructors.

Don’t join this gym for the working sauna. They act like parts come from space and it’s not something people are paying to use! You will experience the opposite of relaxing after your work out and sauna is broken yet again. Weeks on end. This makes finally going to a closer and more affordable gym that doesn’t have a sauna a no brainer. They blamed it on the members for tampering. Not sure what their controls are but they have failed one to many times for me.

I really like this gym! I worked as a personal trainer, was in the military so had access to some pretty cool gyms, and tried out nearly every gym in St Pete before committing to becoming a member of LA Fitness / Esporta, and I'm really happy with my decision. I was highly debating between four and five stars and will certainly upgrade my review to 5 stars if they get a hip thrust machine.

Pros:
-Clean and organized
-Rose was super nice and helpful (also the other lady working but I forget her name) all staff is super kind and knowledgeable
-Opens at 5:00am
-Good lighting (main reason I chose this over Amped)
-Plenty of benches, cables, squat racks, free weights, machines
-Reasonable monthly price especially if you go often with a partner. My husband just uses my membership for an extra $5 a month
-I don't do classes or cardio but there's plenty of options if that's your thing
-Separate saunas for men and women
-Separate little side rooms if you're a shy lifter

Cons:
-No hip thrust machine- as someone who is extremely quad dominant, it's really the only thing that makes my glutes do some work lol. Bulgarians, squatting heavy ATG (sets of 6-8 reps of 225), walking lunges, etc., all only activate my quads for some reason. Hip abductor sorta does but I never feel sore the next day so idk if I got a good workout in haha
-plenty of dumbbells, but at a certain point instead of having ten 40-pound dumbbells, it would be nice to have maybe 6 and then a couple 42.5s or 37.5s
-the premade barbells are all EZ-bars (no straight bar). For curls that can be a little annoying- also there's so many of the same weight instead of having 5lbs differences. I'd love the option for a 55lb or 35lb pre-made barbell
-sometimes the benches are missing a barbell so you have to look around. they could get a couple extra barbells and store them in the squat rack holder thing perhaps

The room where the Zumba class was being held today had NO AIR CONDITION working, there was no notification of this. It was very hot and several of the women were senior citizens trying to exercise for their health. There were numerous complaints in the room about the intense heat. When the man with blonde hair at the front desk ( who said he was the manager) was told , by several members about problem , he was quite nonchalant and did not even try to help. Nothing was done , he did not even get a fan to put in the room to help and there WAS a fan or 2 on the premises. If one of those women passes out from the heat next time I hope they are held legally accountable! Thus is totally unacceptable.

The male Daycare worker here refuses to pick up or hold babies. Despite corporate telling me that they have Told the manager he needs to resolve this- The same thing happens each time I’ve came. You can’t get more than 15 minutes done of working out before he’s calling you because he would rather leave your baby in a car seat Than pick him up- and he will make you come get the baby if the baby is crying. ( Well duh you left him in a car seat)

It is now eight months later and he is still the main morning daycare guy. I have to go all the way to the Seminole location where the lovely ladies there have zero issues Watching my little one - I had to pay an extra 180$ To upgrade to the childcare membership plus paying $40 a month and I have to inconveniently drive 25 minutes away to use the childcare because of this instead of the Saint Pete location right next to my house. — Aside from this I have always loved this location and it was my home gym for years

Better than the average LA in some places. In otbers, NOT.
Fair layout of equipment compared to other Espotas and LA's. Of FOUR drinking fountains I tried, only ONE was cooling the water. The other three were running warm while churning away using plenty of electricity. ONLY ONE actually had a functioning compressor. Why waste electricity for equipment you don't bother to maintain?
I will acknowledge that the place was generally clean. Which is better than most. However, cleaning sprays and towels, if they had any, were not placed visibly close to any equipment. Recent health fact: Central Florida is now dealing with the spread of Leprosy. This is unique to Florida.
In the interest of retaining your customers, please bother to put out more of the sprays and towels common to other well run LA's.
These 'high end' Esporta gyms are supposed to have a fitness drink center. It was obviously abandoned. It will likely reopen when they try to impress and get new members at the end of the year.
UGLY:
Management should take one brief look at the horrid condition of the rusting towel hooks by the pool and hot tub. Haven't been cleaned well for quite a while. But there us so much rust, spend a few bucks and replace them with non-corrosive hooks.
Also, the dirt floating on the hot tub foam exists because the chemicals are out of balance. Proper use of chemicals should NOT cause foam in a clean tub. Also, my eyes burned from the excessive chlorine, which rises from the tub.

The gym is dirty. It has a moldy, musty smell to it. The floors, mirrors and locker rooms look like they haven’t had maintenance in weeks. There are water leaks/mold on the ceiling tiles. This is one of the worst experiences I’ve had at an La Fitness/Esporta in a long time.

Unacceptable Hygiene in Men’s Sauna

The men’s sauna at this location is in dire need of attention. The area under the seats is extremely dirty, and the room consistently has an unbearable odor, far beyond the typical sweat smell one might expect.

I raised this concern over a month ago, hoping it would be addressed, but unfortunately, no action has been taken. Hygiene and cleanliness standards need to be improved significantly for the well-being of members.

I urge management to take this issue seriously and ensure proper cleaning protocols are implemented.

This place is extremely dirty and disgusting from the sauna, to the pool, and bathroom area. Extremely filthy and unsanitary for customers as well who work out here everyday and have to use the bathrooms and saunas.

La fitness is a nice big gym. Equipment is good. Lots of free weights and machines. Locker room and bathrooms could be a little cleaner but ok

The management and employees here are terrible, i was working out in the personal trainer area bc it was empty and one of the employees started putting all my weights away while i was working out.
Another day i invited my friend to work out with me and the manager was so rude with the guess

Este gym es el peor huele horrible siempre está sucio no tiene buena ventilación los baños están siempre sucios y llenos de moho las máquinas sucias no tiene suficientes pesas y nunca están completas no merece ni una estrella es lamentable pagar un fee anual y mensualidad a este gym y no tener un buen servicio

Joined this Gym a month or two ago and I've been very happy with the the selection. Nice mix of energy on the floor where I see many people my age (mid 20s) giving the same level of vigor to their workouts and a lot of people doing an excellent job maintaining strength and health in later years of life as well. Amenities are well kept and gym is clean. Haven't tried the pool yet but excited to. I love the little bar they have where I can get a protein shake before I leave lol. Staff is great, my favs are Todd and Ryan.
