Great gym, long term member and recently refreshed with equipment. The only area that next needs attention is the bathrooms (showers and sauna) and I hope they are next on the improvements list. It's a public gym so a lot of the comments about people and re-racking weights is not on LA Fitness, it's on the folks that should be called out by other members for not showing courtesy to others.

I am giving a 1 start but not because of the gym itself . This 1 start its because a personal trainer ( not sure his name ) but he is skinny mid 40 or 50 dark skin came up to me and told me that I can’t record my workout “ that’s the gym policy “ first of all, Am a older customer at LA fitness , I train in the at west Hillsborough and the one in Gun Hwy I’ve never signed or see any signs around the gym saying that recording it’s not allowed. He also told me that I can( record ) at EOS making it seem like he was kicking me out. I would love to discuss this matter with a manager because this is not fair . How do you pay so much money for your membership and you can’t even record your workout routine? I always recommend and bring family and friends to this gym , not sure if this man was having a bad evening but this seems to not be right ! I always record I see people always recording , my phone was not in anybody’s way nor was it recording anybody , it was just pointing directly at me .

the gym gets the job done.

biggest complaint is the the people who go there. a bunch of try hards who don't pick up after themselves. dumbbells are typically not in the right spot or missing. weights lying on the floor and put back. why is it so hard to find a 5 lb plate.

I've been a member at multiple different gyms in my life, and this is the most unprofessional & inconsiderate gym staff I've ever experienced. I went to this gym in person to cancel my membership because I preferred a different gym, and they continued to charge my credit card for over 2 years (totaling $910) after trying to talk me out of canceling. I finally realized this, and I made multiple attempts to speak with a manager, and no one would call me back. I left multiple messages at this specific location, and it took me 2.5 months to finally get in touch with the manager of this store. Even when I finally spoke to her, I was the one who called her. She never called me back. I spoke to multiple people at this specific location, and two different individuals confirmed that I had not checked in to that gym in over 2 years yet the Manager claims they would not reimburse me "due to company policy". This is pure robbery, and it is extremely unprofessional & unfair. They claim to have no record of me cancelling, but yet they aren't even organized enough to return a phone call? This staff holds zero credibility, and I advise anyone considering joining this gym to proceed cautiously. This staff has proven that they will take advantage of you, then hide behind "company policy" which is also obvious in many other comments in these reviews. I can assure you that I will be escalating this situation because I refuse to allow someone to take over $900 from me due to their incompetence, disorganization, and inability to follow through on commitments. Customers should not be dealing with situations like this from a gym like LA Fitness. It is unacceptable.

Please train your staff and explain to them NOT TO tolerate a hostile environment. I approached a fellow client this evening and politely asked her how much longer she had on the machine (bc I wanted to use it). The woman told me off and told me to "get out of her face," in a very threatening manor. I was very upset and the staff know about it. They "talked to her." Despite back, the person came back and was staring me up and down and giggling, as I was trying to do my routine. The staff knew I was upset about. They claimed they informed a manager, told me to calm down and showed me out the door! You should be embarrassed to letting your staff the situation in the way they did!! Not acceptable.

Came to do a 3 day free pass with my girlfriend and before I can even check it out some sales guy lied and said she couldn’t workout cause she has an id from a different city which makes no sense cause how is someone who recently moved to this area supposed to check a gym out?? And online it says Otherwise as well. On top of that kept trying to shove a membership in our faces and said I couldn’t use the pass either because I checked the gym out in 2019 which was esporta I believe. I like the gym because it is not too crowded and most of the time the equipment seems in good working shape. My only wish would be for more operating hours, especially on the weekends. 7 pm close is basically impossible for those that work on weekends. I may need to choose another gym as a result.

Absolutely horrible first impression. I got a 3 day pass off the LA fitness site. When I arrived I had the unfortunate experience of meeting Nico. I am guessing he is one of the sales floor people. Before I could even sit down he asked if I was going to join. I told him I'd like to check out the gym first. Then his tone changed. He said I couldn't use the gym after 8pm or I'd have to pay a $20 guest pass fee. No where on the pass does it say this. And then he went on to say that the pass isn't good for 3 days. He told me to come back to tomorrow, which I don't plan on doing. He didn't even offer to give me a tour. He just wanted me to join within the first few minutes of arriving. TBH this is the most unprofessional experiences I've ever had in my 30 years of going to a gym. LA Fitness should be ashamed their sales folks use these types of predatory, unprofessional tactics. I'm glad I won't be joining. I plan to contact the LA fitness corporate office to report his behavior. If this location wants to opt out of providing "free passes" to prospective members, or make their own rules when it comes to them, they should not have the option to get one on the website. Period.

Inquired about cancellation process since this gym opens at 5 am and I’m changing my routine time and need something earlier. Was told that I have to talk to a manage that works Mon-Fri 9-5 to cancel my membership. The average person works a 9-5 so when stating the obvious that the process for cancelling is unrealistic I am told sorry that’s our policy. I ask for other options was told well there is a form but that takes longer to process. La Fitness’s cancellation policy is truly a scam only allowing a small window for people to cancel on the managers schedule! Extremely disappointed that I’d either have to take time off work to cancel or do the form that might takes weeks-months to process resulting in getting charged for an unwanted membership. Extremely frustrating not to mention how underwhelming this gym’s equipment is compared to other gyms.

I walked in on a Saturday evening after work still in my scrubs around 6:30 PM.
No one at the front desk.
Waited and waited and people walking out noticed I was there waiting for awhile.
They said the person you’re looking for is in the back! I walked around the entire gym, saw no one that even remotely looked like an employee.
I left after about 30 minutes.

I mentioned it to a friend of mine who’s been a member there for 24 years and said that it was unusual for that to happen and for me to give it another shot.
He sent me a link for a 7 day free trial.
I walked in there today, Monday, and said hello to the front desk girl who was on a mission to devour the mountain of candy in front of her.
She didn’t acknowledge me and I said hello again! With candy in between her teeth and smacking her mouth full of chewy candy she said, “yeeeesss?”
I said, “I have a friend who sent me a link for a 7 day trial. Who do I talk to about pricing and insurance discounts for healthcare workers?”
She said, “oh, we don’t do 7 day anymore. Only 3.”
She walked away to the end of the counter on her left and stood there with her back to me.
I thought she was going to get the sales person sitting at the desk to get me some info, but no.
She came back and sat down huffing and puffing back to eating her candy and do whatever she was on doing on the computer pretending I wasn’t even there.
Wow. Just wow.
Even though I’m 52 and fit, I had hip replacement surgery 2 months ago and need certain machines for my physical therapy to get back to beast mode.
This place was very disappointing to say the least.

Called up here to get some pricing and ask for kids club info. Someone who speaks zero English says and this is asking 10 times what he said. Sorry manager not here. Have made this complaint to the front before and get told every time that “there’s nothing they can do”. The men’s sauna works maybe 60 percent of the time. The problem is people are messing with the knobs and they are now stripped so there’s no way to turn to back up without a tool. So the maintenance guy does this, but then someone turns it down and if maintenance isn’t there, it doesn’t get fixed. I pay for 2 people, over 120 a month for this gym and yall can’t afford a new thermostat or control board? Like it’s that difficult. So at 615 I leave after I was pissed the sauna wasn’t working. Only to go up and meet a very rude young lady who wanted to proceed to talk with hand gestures and eye movements like I’m 13. So finically after being so rude to me I just walked away. I will be returning to crunch and canceling both my girlfriends and my membership because of this young lady. Great customer service esporta/la fitness. This review is going to corporate as well.

At most locations the locker room floors, lockers and bathrooms are poorly maintained. The showers are home for mildew. Bleach and water people. The porters do just enough to maintain their jobs. No one seems to go over and beyond.

I really enjoy going here! For a while I went to a different esporta in the area but they started being too pushy trying to sell personal training or get my guest to sign up so we started coming here and love it. I pay extra to have a guest and don’t want them to be pressured to sign up too or to be pressured to pay more for personal training. It’s always a pleasant experience here and the staff is very friendly. The sauna is very nice as well. I do yoga every week and it’s such a great yoga class.

I have had some minor issues with this gym, but the reason I give it 5 stars is because of personal trainer Winton. He is the best. He knows his clients weaknesses and builds from that so that you can be your very best. I can do things physically I have never been able to do in my lifetime and I am stronger than I have ever been. He preaches consistency to achieve your goals. You have to be willing to put in the work.

I left a prominent gym to come here as its close to home. the staff is friendly, its a pretty busy gym early morning and after work, but you can always find somewhere to work out. I wish they would stack the weights appropriately though, and have collars for the bars. Also some updated classes would be awesome, but its a good value for what you're paying.

I workout at another gym, my wife works out at this location. I was looking to try esportas guest pass that I signed up for to see if I liked the environment before signing up as a member. They were so pushy to sell me a membership when I went to activate my guest pass that I did one set of chest and had to leave because I was so aggravated by my front desk experience. I would have been an easy signup but I can’t stand being pushed into a sale like I’m at a used car lot. So I definitely won’t be back.

The staff seems friendly but please please please update your equipment to rival other gyms. This gym absolutely NEEDS bumper plates. There is tremendous advantages to bumper plates that regular plates just dont have, especially for range of motion in hip exercises. Plus, the weights currently at this gym are always missing from racks and it doesn't seem there's enough. Clips are very scarce and attachments for cable machines are barely there. More plates, more attachments, and more clips needed.

Retro fitness is closing their doors tomorrow. So "4" of us are in search of a new gym. Visited Crunch and Eso before Esporta. Both Crunch and Eso which are bigger nicer gyms with more to offer said they'd wave their join fee. Esporta refused to wave their join fee of $100. In short, Esporta just lost out on $480 a year plus the recurring $53 annual fee they charge every member.
Total of $694 a year. All because they didn't want to compete with the local competition. Only reason we were ready to join Esporta is because they are 5 min closer. Owner of Esporta shouldn't have kids running their membership sales. Common sense says they should have offered us some sort of break. What would you choose? Free sign up membership for more or $100 sign up membership for less?

My doctor prescribed physical therapy for my arthritis; I didn't bother to go. ("Who has time for that?") Next doctor prescribed pain meds; I didn't want to do that. I was at a point where I could not stand for more than 20 minutes. Max R at Esporta helped me to realize that I needed to take a pro-active approach instead of just hoping my pain and weakness will go away on its own. He outlined and explained a workout program specific for me, gave me a tour of the facility, and helped me to get signed up with a membership and personal training. Had my first session with Elijah M yesterday. Elijah did not push me to go too far, yet he guided me so that I did more than I thought I was capable of. Now I see the benefit of having a personal trainer. I left feeling like, "I can do this!" He gave me confidence and hope; I have a new start in life. The next day, the specific areas that felt sore are proof that the right muscles are being targeted. I am in good hands with Esporta. I am looking forward to my future sessions. Oh, one more thing: I am glad the music is not loud. It is just enough to hear something but low enough not to interfere with concentration.
