Horrible!! Visiting my Mom from out of state and was only planning on using the gym for 1 hour 1 day and they wanted to charge me $20! With ALL the gym options in this area they need to be more focused on people's health and NOT the money!

Really need some managers to start walking around. So many issues that shouldn’t exist: weights left on machines or stacked incorrectly on the tree, people carrying full size duffel bags around blocking walk ways, people having 3 sets of dumbbells at a flat bench station, not wiping down sweaty equipment. Childlike behavior is abundant and ruins the atmosphere.

Horrible. This was my first time at this LA fitness. I’m looking for a new gym. I normally do CrossFit. I brought my friend who is new to working out. We did the 3 day pass.

I did stairs. She did treadmill. Then we worked on glute/ham machines. Afterward, we stretched.

When we went to leave and get our IDs back, the salesman asked if I was a “coach.” I am not a coach and have a full-time job, not in fitness. He said I looked like a coach and was “coaching” my friend, which is not allowed. I explained I was showing her how to use machines and how to stretch.

Apparently, that is NOT allowed. LA has their own “coaches” they want you to hire.

So, you either watch your friend struggle or hire a coach with LA. You can’t help them.

We will not be going back.

Very disappointed in this gym. There’s a serious lack of equipment variety, and the treadmills are old, stained, and often malfunction — some even stop abruptly mid-use. The gym has poor ventilation, leaving a constant stale smell of sweat and dirty water. A few of the front desk staff are unfriendly and at times a nuisance. The pools are in unacceptable condition, stained brown and visibly dirty. Other LA Fitness locations are much cleaner and better maintained. I hope management prioritizes renovating this facility soon, as it’s in need of major improvements.

If I could give fewer stars, I would. The front desk staff are unprofessional and unhelpful, often coming across as whiny and irritating. The facility itself is musty and smells unpleasant — likely due to poor ventilation. The A/C is either broken or non-functional, and the five small ceiling fans do little to help. Most of the equipment is outdated, and there isn’t nearly enough to accommodate the number of members, especially considering the high cost of the membership

The gym is just okay, loses points for having equipment that’s out of service for too long. I’d like to use the pool but the staining on the walls and floor suggests that it’s rarely cleaned. It’s skin colored stains all over the pool are not very inviting.

The locker room is where this places loses all the points. It’s just disgusting. The health dept needs to check out the state of the showers and the sauna. Mold and mildew everywhere. I’ve never seen a cleaner at this gym, I’ve been told they exist by the staff but the locker rooms and sauna remain horrible.

For the price, it’s value is hanging on by a thread.

It is such a pleasure to work out at this gym! The staff is super professional, personable, and caring. Cody, John, and Robert are the kindest, most courteous people you will ever meet and who always make time to answer questions or help out whenever possible. LA Fitness is so lucky to have them!

I found the equipment here, especially the treadmills and spin bikes to be very old and in poor shape. I feel the equipment was brought in from another facility when this one was built. It also tends to be too warm to do much running on the treadmills. The spin instructor even took it upon herself to bring in a large fan from another facility to help cool her class.
The facility is clean and the staff is friendly, but for the price of membership, you would expect a little better cardio equipment.

ZERO stars. Unprofessional staff and unapologetic. Hoping owner comments on this,but doubtful. Long story short: Spoke with sales/ "GM" Zach who not surprisingly is no longer at LA Fitness.
There was a great promo for the new year: 19.99 per month, 49.00 initiation and 59.00 enrollment. Which totals 288 a year or 28.00 per month. I was going to enroll online but I had a few questions so I reached out directly to the location which is on cooper creek in sarasota, fl. HuGE MISTAKE!! The sales person Zach suggested I come into the gym and I could sign up in person.( I'm sure commission but that's fine) I asked when promo ended and he said through December 31st and that they had just received a " corporate blast" stating that date. Obviously why would I question someone who stated they were the GM at this location?? I called before we were heading to meet with him and he told me unfortunately that promo is over. He had made a " mistake " and there is "nothing he can do." I also have all this information in text. After much back-and-forth because I was understandably aggravated and now I'd have to pay double the price per year because Zach the " GM " gave grossly incorrect information. This mistake would cost us 600.00 more per year. 300 per membership. Very unfair and unprofessional.
Zach then decided he could offer us his Friends and Family discount and he would contact his boss to see if he could credit a portion of several months back to us so it would bring us back to the 28.00 per month promo we fully expected.
He ignored all my follow up texts. We stopped in several times but Zach was not there that day or out sick. I just found out Zach is no longer employed by this company. There is now another " GM" Cam I believe. He also offered no help or suggestions except to say he was brought to this location because "they were in trouble" and there was a "1% chance his boss could do anything either". He also had the audacity to tell me about other cheaper gyms in the area...missing the entire point or rather could care less. Additionally he said he would text me ( as they do) from his personal number and let me know what boss said aka " his VP". I received no such contact.
It is very difficult to believe that a company like LA Fitness allows this to happen and no one, even all these people with erroneous titles, can do anything about this expensive mistake that is NOT the fault of the potential members but completely falls upon the employees.
Lesson learned. Will contact corporate for all it is worth. Very unprofessional. Lesson: check it out first ( not the cleanest or most up to date equipment) and if you still want to join do so online.

Gym opens at 5 AM. Went there at 7 AM left at 9 AM. Not one sheet of paper towel by any sink not one sheet of wipes in any station. Over all the center is very good condition. The major issue is the spin class. Been in the spin class for the last 10 months. The problem is a bald gentleman that has a major perspiration issue. He comes regularly and is spin class He never cleans his perspiration off the floor. Just a disgusting pool of perspiration on the floor and bike. Had the best experience. I am a very heavy plus size woman, and this is my first time going to the gym. The staff was super kind and welcoming. The facility is clean and accommodating. I got locked in the gym after closing! Beware, they don’t always check in the locker rooms and sauna at closing. Doors are unlocked from the inside so I was able to exit, but then accidentally left my car key in the locker room! (Husband came to my rescue.) Bit of a disaster, and was unfortunately no true apologies or compensation from staff or manager after I shared.

I’m using my husband’s membership as a guest, isn’t that what he pays for? We have worked out all the time on vacation and this is the first time this has happened. Are you that desperate for money? Eli the sales rep was really rude. I came with a member looking to try out the facility. His only 2 options for a guest were pay 20 bucks for a guest pass or go buy an Açaí bowl from a neighboring business. He didn’t even offer me a membership at this club or explain pricing tiers. After looking up memberships in the parking lot I could have joined for just slightly more than 20 bucks. Or 3 açaí bowls from the neighboring business that Eli pitched to me.

I’ve been to a lot of LA Fitness centers from Seattle to Sarasota. Many layouts and vibes are all very similar. This LA Fitness in particular is fantastic. First off, you pull into the parking lot with palm trees just chilling. A true Los Angeles vibe. Plentiful parking. Great piece of real estate. The entry way is very airy. All the weight lifting equipment is organized on the main floor for the standard issue gym bros, and the cardio equipment is upstairs. Both floors are treated with a quality attention to detail. My only con is the locker room which shares a space with the sauna. Nothing wrong with either part in theory but the humidity from the sauna invades the locker room. Saunas just aren’t my thing. The con is very small relative to the big picture that is this great gym. Five stars. Check it out.

My Personal Trainer is Leat Kelly. She listens to her customers. Her professional attitude and positive demeanor are a perfect fit for me.
She will focus my session on the requested area of need , like upper body , balance and legs. Her strong background in physical training is helpful in explaining why and how to train and exercise properly.

I have been training with Leat for a year and a half now. She is so knowledgeable and really took time to understand my goals and learn how my body reacts.I have lost a good amount of weight and gained a ton of muscle. Strongly encourage you to start training with her. Hard to find a true professional, great communicator and goes above and beyond for her clients!

My personal trainer is Tara Gottling who’s been my trainer for over 2 years. When I first joined LA and walked around the facility, I saw Tara and immediately said to myself that’s who I want as a trainer. I’m glad my choice was correct. Her expertise on exercises, nutrition and life in general has been outstanding and has helped me become more physically fit. Tara Gottling is THE BEST and I’m really happy with the advice and training she’s given me.

I visited this location while I was in Sarasota for work. The employees and manager were very welcoming and asked if I needed any help finding anything the first day. This gym is clean and equipped with enough equipment that I was easily able to do my workouts after work (at peak time)! I love the layout of this location. There is so much space and it never felt over crowded. I would love it if this was my home gym!

Worst club with Rude Sales Staff. Worst gym that I've ever been to in the World. And I ve been to 20+ gyms over my life.

I came in on Friday Sept 8, at 6pm and started talking to a big guy sitting at the sales desk on the right. I showed him a 3 day online flyer and asked if I could try out the gym as it is close to my where I take my son every Friday and Monday. What I got in response was incredible!

Sales guy said he is a new GM and it is his job to get something out of me ( exact words). He assumed I'm not local, or some kind of a deadbeat and started asking where I'm travelling from and that he doesn't have to honor online coupon. He was rude and mean. (P.S. I just came from my office was wearing business casual). He said all gyms are the same and that there is nothing to look at. To what I disagreed saying that some gyms are dirty some are clean and amenities differ as well.

After back and forth arguing why he won't honor 3 day online coupon, he said that if I leave a review, I can go once. So basically he was twisting my arm for a review, on top of being rude and discriminative. Shocking place!

Anyway, nowadays I will go the extra mile in order not to attend this place. rudest gym experience of my life! I will tell everyone about rude people who work at LA Fitness.

Note to management: be careful who you hire, because your staff can ruin the reputation of your gym. One bad experience like the one above will ruin years of good practice.

I swim here the 3 days my outdoor community pool opens too late. One of the 2 ropes has been out for over a month. The pool is usually way too cold with no heat coming in. My thermometer said 80 degrees this morning. I let the manager know and she seemed put out when I said how cold it was. Often I have to get wads of hair out of the shower drain.

We feel fortunate to have Tara Gotting as our fitness trainer at LA Fitness. She is a quick study on observing our strengths and weaknesses. Tara designed an excellent training program to meet our needs.
We are never bored as she guides us through a varied and interesting series of exercises. She is always attentive as we train to improve our form and prevent injury. Tara G. is definitely the best trainer we have had. Larry and Dorothy D.

We have been coming to this gym for a long time. The facility at Cooper Creek off University is consistently clean, the equipment is well maintained, and it is never crowded. We have been working with personal trainers RACHEL and KEN for two years. We love both these trainers because they challenge us - pushing us just past the point we think we can achieve. They modify our workouts based on our progress and to keep things fresh. Also, they teach about optimal form and technique so that we understand how each exercise effects our bodies and how to maximize outcomes while minimizing strain. Best of all they both have fun personalities – so it feels like you’re just working out with a friend. Albeit, a friend who makes sure you are really tired at the end 😊
