It is very bad. Very dirty. I am using the LA Fitness at Alton Center for the last 1 year, but had to use this one located in West Palm Beach due to some personal reasons. It is very dirty, bathrooms and showers are in bad condition. I am very surprised.

I have never been more disrespected in my life. The Operations Manager, Alecia Jenkins, spoke to me with one of the most insulting and condescending tones I’ve ever experienced. She flat-out accused me of lying about my situation and dismissed everything I said as if my words and my circumstances didn’t matter at all.

What makes this even worse is that I was lied to by their previous General Manager and another LA Fitness representative. They re-signed me under false pretenses, fully aware that I did not have the funds and that I have a newborn child at home. They took advantage of my situation, and Alecia doubled down by blaming me for their dishonesty.

I am always respectful and polite when I’m in that gym, and to be treated like this, called a liar, talked down to, and completely disrespected, was beyond unprofessional. It was disgusting. Alecia Jenkins is genuinely one of the worst people I’ve ever had to deal with in any business.

No one should ever be spoken to like that, especially when they’re coming in vulnerable, trying to resolve an issue caused by the gym’s own employees.

This is a horribly run business with horrible customer service and people who clearly do not care about the truth, their members, or basic human decency. Avoid this gym at all costs unless you want to be treated the way I was. I am clearly not the only one considering how many 1 star reviews are under mine.

Review for LA Fitness – Okeechobee & Military Location

I normally don’t leave reviews, but what happened at this gym was unacceptable and needs to be addressed.

I’m an active Pro MMA fighter and long-time member. My friend, a white U.S. military veteran with a 12-year membership, was at the gym with his girlfriend, who is Black. A staff member approached him and told him he needed to leave the gym “before he loses his membership” because he had sandals on.

The problem?
There were at least six other people in the gym — including an elderly woman — wearing only socks, and none of them were asked to leave. When my friend asked why he was being singled out, the employee refused to give his name and responded with, “Do you want problems? Just leave before you lose your membership.”

Totally unacceptable behavior.

To make it worse, the sauna at this location is almost never working, and instead of addressing member concerns, this staff member seems more focused on harassing certain members — especially interracial couples.

This is not how you treat paying customers, let alone a veteran who has supported LA Fitness for over a decade. We have photos and witnesses to confirm everything.

LA Fitness corporate needs to take a serious look at what’s going on at the Okeechobee & Military location.

Yesterday Friday at 6:15pm the "MANAGER" doesn't allow me to use my passport as ID to use the 3 days fee pass. Very rude and not very smart. He was no capable to understand that the passport is an ID. He keep asking me to bring a green card updated. Mine was expired. He didn't accept my Spanish ID either. RIDICULOUS. I just completed a 3 day pass here. The gym itself had good equipment and cleaner than some gyms. I have 3 main complaints.

1. No gym etiquette. Not a single person in there puts their weights back in the correct spot. Every single day that I walked in, every bench, Smith machine, and squat rack had plates already on them. I wasn't sure if anyone was using them, so I waited. NO one was using them. I had to unrack and put other people's weights away to even use the free weights.

2. The dumbbells are a mess. 90% of them are in the wrong spot, if they are even there. There are 25s next to 90s, next to 40s, and thats if they were in even pairs. A lot of dumbbells were missing or just strewn about the gym. You think when the places closes the staff would reorganize the dumbbells for the next day.

3. This isn't even the gyms fault, but I wish they would enforce it. Individuals taking up a machine for 2 hours doing 15 sets of selfies. I watched multiple individuals take up a squat rack or Smith machine the entire time I was there, and they did 2 real sets of work, but mainly just took pictures and videos of themselves in the mirror etc. The gym is not a photo studio. Have courtesy for others that are trying to get a good workout in. Save your picture taking for your mirror at home.

Otherwise I was able to get a solid workout all 3 days. The locker rooms were a bit dirty but thats not a huge deal to me.

I was at this gym with my husband with the intention of signing up and the service was terrible. The woman who was there at this time exactly from 4 pm until 4:50 pm made us wait to give us information while she talked on the phone. To not waste time I went online and looked for a free pass to get in. She asked for my ID and my husband's and smiled ironically. She took our ID and spoke on the phone again, leaving us waiting for almost an hour. I took my ID, my information sheet and left. I have been a member of LA Fitness for more than six years, and on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, I had the worst experience of my life at this gym. I was physically attacked by several female members inside the sauna. Instead of helping me, the staff failed to provide any assistance. They did not offer me ice, medical help, or even basic support. Shockingly, they laughed at me and took the side of the woman who assaulted me.

When I asked to speak with the manager, the person in charge refused to connect me and instead supported the aggressor’s behavior. To make matters worse, I was thrown out of the gym without even the minimum assistance or concern for my safety.

After being a loyal member for over six years, I feel completely disrespected, humiliated, and unsafe. This is unacceptable behavior from both the staff and the management. I am deeply disappointed and will be taking further action

This is the worst LA fitness location I have used.
1) Almost nobody puts their weights back.
2) it’s is always extremely busy but many members feel entitled to take up multiple machines simultaneously.
3) they often run out of cleaning supplies to wipe down equipment.
4) the a/c has been out for a week in August 2025 with no estimated time of repair.

The staff doesn’t walk around and police any of these issues. I will be using another gym in the future and you probably should do the same. On the positive side and to be fair - the equipment is pretty good.

So I got a membership a few months ago. The gym itself is good. It has a sauna, swimming pool, and basketball court. What sucks honestly is other gym people. People puts dumbbells back wherever they want. You will rarely see all dumbbells racked correctly. Also I have seen people with 4-5 different sets of dumbbells next to them while they work out. Like they just have them all around just because. This stops other people that needs the weight. Then people will take the dumbbells and move them all around the gym and not place them back. I fairly constantly have to look around the gym for weights since people will put them by the smith machines, which is duct off and you won't see if you are at the dumbbells. Or they will be across the gym.

So, to make that all short. Gym is really good, people that go to the gym not so much.

Some of the leg equipment and benches are torn, ripped and worn out. The membership is not cheap, yet the equipment is basic and dated. The location is small, military location is the only one i’ve noticed that doesn't have 2 floors. Not much space or equipment, the more popular machines ppl use( chances are they only have ONE) so you’ll be waiting around for a while for someone to get off a machine. Disappointed in this LA Fitness. They could do much better for the prices they want to charge. Some boca locations have red light therapy!!! Just joined. At first walk through it looked good. I have been several times now, noticing more maintenance issues every time. Many machines are in serious need of rehupolstering.My first attempt to take the Monday 11:00 AM Palates class was cancelled. I tried again this Monday, the instructor was10 min late and ended class early. An alarm was beeping loudly the entire time. Apparently they were aware but said they couldn't turn it off.
Both the Men's (reported by my boyfried) and Ladies rooms were filthy on a slow time at 1:00 pm on Friday. As I was leaving two men behind the front desk were doing hand stands on paper towels they placed on the floor. I emailed the company that manages LA Fitness and many other gyms, have yet to get a response. I made a poor choice with so many others to choose from. It's truly not what you'd expect from a "Health and Fitness" business.

The men's lock room is discussing. It has a bad over to it. It doesn't look like they ever wash the showers.
I never see them clean the sauna. It is disgusting in there. I'm surprised the health department has enclosed him down. The equipment is old and rusty in the cardio. Machines are always broke and they say they're gonna fix them. Three weeks later distilled not fixed and when you go to do cardio there's no Treadmills, they have never updated their equipment men. She wondered where are membership? Money goes in their pocket and everything is old and not updated. Go to Eos fitness which is gonna open soon and you'll realize.
That LA Fitness equipment is old and not updated in the places filthy.
This is why they have a low Rating, that's why most people are moving to Eos fitness. It's brand new. It has more value for the money at the same price in the equipment updated.

I’ve been in this gym for a while, but this gentleman that I just met today very refreshing very wonderful and amazing. His name is. Rashad C. he was very full of energy very relatable with everybody and he definitely helped me and my mom very much. I’m a person with special needs high and functioning and my mother is a senior citizen. He treated us like we were like humans and everyone to come to this gym and this location, he is a reception and I’m just literally impressed by his behavior and demeanor, sadly, you don’t get that type of behavior and attitude wherever you go you most definitely need to come to this location you’re definitely going to be treated with full respect and love

The facility and equipment itself is decent, which is why this location gets two starts. Besides that, the membership manager and front desk lady in the evening are extremely rude and non welcoming to new guests. It was so disappointing to see and completely turned me off from going back.

Unfortunately, there isn't a designated area for deadlifts in this gym. I have to carry plates and the barbell across the entire gym just to do my workout. But today I noticed that management partially took over that space as well by moving yoga mats there. Why did you reduce the space even more? Instead, you’ve added useless machines along the mirrors, which no one really needs in such large numbers. Also, there’s only one proper squat rack, and it's almost always occupied. Why not install at least one more? There are two additional squat stands, but the floor there is uneven and sloped, which is dangerous. Please provide more opportunities for serious lifters.

I will say, there was definitely not enough dumbbells. There wasn’t even enough to fill the rack.

I love LA Fitness, however, the respect for the gym and gym etiquette are not present at this location. In order to find the correct weights you have to walk around and find them. Customers and staff take no pride in this place. It’s worth the extra 20 min drive to go to the one in Wellington or Jupiter. I have a family multi club membership for years. and I normally go with my wife to this location. Never have a problem. they hire new staff the old staff was not the greatest but they just do their job. They hire some arrogant people that can't help a customer use their app to add a guess where I pay for extra to guess. They never ask me to sign in the guess so I do not know how to use the app. They end up calling the police and putting us into trespassing. I want to cancel my membership because is useless and they trick my account o force me to pay for 2 extra months. Be aware if you do not want to lose money. God Bless

moving from the rosemary square location that closed, this is by far the worst LA fitness i have ever stepped in. it is insanely overpacked, 10-15 minute wait for any machine and that’s if you don’t get it swiped from under you when you look away waiting for a moment. not to mention 10 people asking to work in on any machine while you work out to avoid waiting. the machines themselves are filthy, broken, and ancient. the Sauna has been closed every time i’ve come, and on top of all that the staff here are pushy and rude about accepting guests. do yourself a favor and just don’t come here.

I have been going there for quite a while. The gym is clean and well organized with plenty of bikes , treadmills, etc. But only 2 rowers. I like other people like rowers. Unfortunately, there is frequently one that is unusable. The one on the right (if you are behind the rowers) was unusable for a while. I assume it's fixed, but the footstraps are so frayed it is unusable.. The other rower seems fine but also is in need of new foot straps, mostly the right side..

This says it was posted a month ago, but it was around 6 months ago. I have been a member for a year. They still haven't repaired the rower. I asked a few days ago, and they said the console has been on order for a while. I told him my job was finding material for contractors. I could get that part in a few days. No response. I think it's time for me to look at You Fit gym down the street.

I love LA fitness it has really helped me concerning my health as well as my exercising. The customer service there is just impeccable I am so very proud to be a member of LA fitness and my son is as well. I love that they keep the equipment and the overall fitness building and such great routine of cleanliness.

I recently went to a location in ft lauderdale, another LA fitness. The location was very clean and locker room was roomy and lockers were updated and in very goid condition. West palm needs a makeover. Some of the equiptment is outdated and not in great shape. Some of the equiptment is even damaged and doesnt function properly......
Update: the gym has upgraded its machines. The staff is very nice. I wish that they would add another inclined press machine and one more declined press machine. During busy times it's extremely hard to get on these machines.

Terrible terrible awful experience. I have been a La fitness member for close to 10 years now and have many more bad terrible experiences than anything good. Today tried using the gym and was given such a hard time from the terrible “women” in the front. She was extremely mean and very condescending, she never let me into the gym even thought I’ve use the gym many times. Awful person employeed by an awful company, her and LA fitness as a whole are TERRIBLE

I was misinformed about a gym membership from the sales rep. and when I spoke about it to the General Manager Paul. All he had to say was that I should have not gone for the cheapest membership (WITH A SMILE) even though I asked multiple times before signing up if the membership had multi- club access. He did not take accountability for his sale’s rep. misinformation, nor try to fix the situation. They just simply said to cancel my membership and sign up once a promo comes up. (Meaning I have to pay the down payment AND annual fee AGAIN. I HAVENT HAD THIS MEMBERSHIP FOR 30 DAYS!) NO ACCOUNTABILITY! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! ABSOLUTE NO CARE FOR CLIENTS!

First off, Paul is a terrible general manager and has poor customer service, lacks any grain of accountability and redirects all fault on his costumers, the reviews don't lie like they said they did Paul.

When coming in with my fiancé we asked about 3-4 times that a membership she wanted would include access to all the clubs in Florida, 3 times, and all 3 times we were both told, yes.

We SPECIFICALLY went in due to the fact that we were confused on what was included in on that membership, so we seeked what a "representative" or "staff member" would/should know about, what they offer, what it includes, how it works, and costs. She was wrong

2 weeks later now that same wrong woman is telling me and my fiancé; after she's went to another LA Fitness and they told her that her membership doesn't work, that she doesn't know what's wrong and that we can go workout and she'll "fix" it. We finish our workout and she now doesn't have any words or explanation and just points at her general manager that she can't do anything. She then redirects us to her table and says we'd have to cancel the membership and repay everything for the membership WE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN ORIGINALLY if we knew the correct information.

Here introduces Paul, I ask Paul questions about the membership, and there fault in misinforming us: not once, not twice, but onward of 5+ times in the span of 2 weeks, his response: "well you both read the same thing, I don't know what she said or didn't" or "I'm not sure what deals they send you and you guys picked it so"

The humongous lack of accountability in his employees mistake is immense, if we were informed originally correct we would have easily stuck with the more expensive one and gotten the fees and all that once, instead he says a backhanded statement saying "well you guys chose the cheaper one" and smiles. We didn't care for the cost difference between the two, but if your telling me we can get the things we want for cheaper, we're gonna do it, hence anyone would.

Terrible service beside the one dude at the front desk with the curls, he's a cool guy, train your employees, Paul and have a sense of accountability, pride is any mans downfall.

I’ve been going since January this year. I’ve made tremendous progress with my fitness since I started. I go frequently at night alone and I am a woman. Nothing has happened to me or my belongings. Most people who go are highly motivated and mind their own business, so I never worry about being harassed. I love their sauna and hot tub.

The locker room feels a bit outdated. They have been putting in new equipment. They make repairs pretty quickly. I personally have had great rapport with the staff.

I have a solo membership and I credit my a lot of my weightloss and fitness journey to this gym that I started at.

This gym is busy good luck finding weights you need since gym goers nor staff make sure to re rack the loose weights ,paper towels seem to be short at times in the men’s locker room /bathroom😏 not the cleanest gym out there either dropped my head phones under the dumbbells rack when I went to pick it up it was full dust

The building itself is okay, but the staff can be lazy and unhelpful. We have the family membership this is the only location that makes us take the photos and re-sign the forms every single time. We don’t use it often for that reason. It’s also in a pretty rough neighborhood I wouldn’t go at night for safety concerns.

Worst experience I have ever had with a manager here (Paul) !!! long story short I got pregnant and thought that i had frozen or cancelled my account, well my account was never frozen or cancelled, I decided it was time to go back to the gym. I found out i had a balance so I paid it and renewd my membership and paid 3 kids club. I have a 13 year old that i wanted to bring and paying an extra person at this time was to much so i decided to get her a free 3day pass. The first day we went we had no problems. our second day i was told by the lady in the front that i needed to wait because the free pass was not active(strange since i used it the first day but whatever) I waited about 30min for manager Paul to help I understood he had no help so i waited patiently, This man came to help me he had a very very angry face, he asked what i needed so i told him a pass for my daughter, he asked for my id and her id i did not have that on me at that time. I was never told i needed an ID for her from the start. He had an attitude the whole time he was talking to me; while this was happening another lady walked in with her son and same thing happended to her so her son sat in the waiting area for her while she worked out. Since they did not let my daughter in I also told her to wait in the same waiting area.
Paul extremly angry and frustrated told me daughter could not stay their unattended and that she needed to leave. He also told me that he did not need to deal with my attitude!!! but i was simply talking to him in the same manner he was talking to me!!! He let the other kid stay and wait for his mom there while my daughter waited for me outside!!! it's kind of ironic to say but i felt like he was a bit racist with me since the other kid was African american Paul is african america, the two girls in the front where african american but me and my daughters where to little short mexicans. Yes kind of funny!! Paul needs to work on his manners and customer service.

Recently, the staff has been giving me trouble about checking in with my phone number. They are telling me I have to buy a plastic key tag for $10. I think it’s kind of ridiculous, considering how much money I pay to use this gym.

This is the only location I ever have any trouble with. Rude to check my phone number in. Manager rude as well. This location offered pass to check out the gym but had us waiting for 45 minutes to get into the gym to begin working out. Costumer service was rude. Once we spoke to salesman, he said each of us would have to sit through a 15 minute presentation. There were 3 of us. We decided to pay for the day pass to bypass this after waiting nearly an hour. I’m not sure if this is how their costumer service is with all of their costumers or because we are young adults, but it is unacceptable.

I like the gym but for what we’re paying for it’s bad. It’s better to just go to the one in Boynton. The cafe is never open any more and now they’re having issues with the spa and pool. They have a lot of less equipment compared to the other ones too. It’s a waste

This L.A. Fitness location violates their terms and agreement with Active & Fit by misrepresenting a predatory policy to "require" active & fit members to sign up for a personal training assessment.

Active & Fit is aware as well as CD the General Manager.

Further the General Manager at this Location lacks the personal, social, and communication skills to conduct himself as a model of the company.

During a conversation where this guest inquired about a personal training area and other rules we are held to he became perturbed, used unprofessional language, and diog nosed mental health statements in regard to and about the guest.

After speaking with memeber services and getting a stern confirmation that all members have FULL ACCESS to the entire club and amenities....WHY ARE THE DOORS STILL LOCKED!?!? WHY ARE THE PASSIVE AGRESSIVE THREATENING SIGNS STILL PLASTERED IN THOSE AREAS!?!?....update tomorrow morning.

Update: Approximately a week or so later and a productive conversation with the facilities repair man- THE LOCKS CAME OFF....but now the real torture started. THE AC IS SHUT OFF!!! Even though we've been told in the past that its not controlled by staff and is on an autoset as are the lights. How is it much cooler on the main floor????,..havingto.opening the door to the aerobics room to release the heat and get air to circulate. I guess they figured can't keep them out so make them dangerously uncomfortable!! PISS POOR, PETTY, RETALIATORY MANAGEMENT!!!...

I’ve been going to this gym for many years but during the past year or two I have notice a marked improvement in the facility. The ladies at the check in desk are very friendly, attentive and responsive to the needs of the facility and patrons. They really manage their job responsibilities seriously. The facility is always clean and the equipment is in good operating order. The Latino gentleman and lovely lady who clean the facility are hard workers as well, keeping the floors and locker rooms clean and tidy. In addition, the cleaning wipes and paper towel dispensers are always stocked and available for patrons. That’s important as well.
