We are founding members of a LT in another city. My son and his wife relocated to Tampa and we got access to the Tampa club on a recent visit. Tampa residents are so fortunate to have this new, amazingly beautiful Lifetime Club at their disposal! Entire facility is so fabulous! Perfectly managed, super clean and the workout options, leisure & dining spots are state of the art and so enjoyable! I liken it to a 5 star resort. I almost never post reviews so please do not take this post lightly. It stands at face value. The new Lifetime Tampa only enhances an already wonderful city!

The cycle classes are always great. I wish Katie was featured more often! Her mashup class is amazing and she brings a great energy to every class. She is knowledgable, supportive, and professional. It would be great if her barbell class was offered again too! I enjoy the current barbell class but having 9:15 on a Wednesday as the only option isn’t ideal for people who work.
Also - Justin is a great cycle instructor! His classes are always fun, energetic, and challenging. Justin is friendly and welcoming. I look forward to his classes every week!

Great boutique Life Time. It’s not one of the custom built mega facilities, but still a great club and on par with other boutique locations I’ve been to. That said, the pricing seems way off. But there are no competitors so 🤷♂️

Great gym overall, but can you stop removing 5am group classes? 6am is way too full and forcing people to share work stations, sharing sweat and that’s just plain gross. Please re-introduce 5am GTX and Alpha or at least provide another option for people that can’t come to the gym at 6-7am. Not cool to have removed ALL 5am classes.

Not bad aside from the front desk speaking a little WAY to openly about my private medical insurance provider which I found a bit of putting to be honest. HIPPA does not apply here. Yet they have HIPPA Laws for good reasons and some things do not need to be loudly disclosed / discussed in front of other members. It's really unnecessary. You could have just simply stated my insurance plan which even then is a mostly mute point because I'm paying extra for signature access. I'm sorry that my home club emphatically told me I would have access to all clubs if I upgraded my membership as did the GM in Deerfield Ohio. There is something called bait and switch laws also on regards to such things... Thanks 🙏

I felt the need to leave a review about the club’s newest personal trainer on staff, Patrick Moore. Not only does he bring a wealth of knowledge to the forefront, but he has the experience to back it up. You may have seen him in there (honestly, you can’t miss him as he is the biggest guy in there thanks to his professional bodybuilding background), so if you are a member there and looking for some great training advice, please book a session with him. You won’t be sorry and may even leave me a thank you for my recommendation!

I am so bummed to see Katie's Maxout and barbell classes taken off the schedule! Not only does Katie bring the enthusiasm and passion to class, she does it in an entertaining way. One thing I especially appreciate about Katie that sets her apart from others is that she takes the time to highlight exactly which muscle is being targeted and the importance of engaging the right muscles for maximum results. I always leave her classes feeling so refreshed and confident and am so disappointed to see them go!

They’ve got a ridiculous policy - you have to cancel at least two hours before class. Even if you’re on the waitlist and only get cleared less than an hour before, they refuse to cancel it for you even if you call them. Instead, they penalize you and block your ability to book classes for 7–10 days. Honestly, this place is such a joke.
On top of that, no Zumba, no steam room, Pilates costs an extra $30 per class when other studios offer class passes for way less, the Normatec sleeves reek of chemicals and sweat, and the yoga mats smell gross. And somehow we’re paying almost $500 a month for this nonsense? Total rip-off. And they won’t do anything about it because they just don’t care.

I have taken several classes with Jodi who teaches Pilates fusion and heated Pilates. I am new to Pilates so I did not know what to expect. Jodi’s style of teaching is phenomenal. I feel that she sets me up for success in the way that she describes what is upcoming in the transition for each of the exercises as we move through the sequences. I enjoy how she changes the music and the lights in the room as we move through different exercise. I cannot more highly recommend Jodi and her style of coaching to anyone interested in Pilates. You will never ever ever be disappointed or intimidated when you attend her class.

Lifetime in Harbor Island is only amazing due to Shaun F - my personal trainer. Im in my 50s with a bunch of sore joints and he is just the best! Best gym in Tampa, which is indicative of how bad the gyms in Tampa are. If you play pickleball or tennis I can see this maybe being worth it, but if your focus is on anything else you will be disappointed. Wildly overpriced compared to other Life Times—it is one of the most expensive in the country. If you’re looking for a really clean Crunch where people don’t wear crocs on the gym floor and you’re also bad with money this is the place for you.

This place is heaven on earth. The negative reviews are a lie. If you truly love a fit/active lifestyle it’s everything you need. I call it fit adult daycare. I spend hours here every time I come. There’s just so much to do and the staff is amazing. The trainer Shaun is super knowledgeable at stretch therapy as well as personal training! He taught me a stretch that literally got me from touching barely past my knees to touching the floor without bending them in 24hours. Super fun to train with too. I’m very athletic and he was able to teach more advanced things, he taught me a dragon squat for example. So cool. Never over crowded. You can truly do it all here. The website majorly undersells the place.

I have been going here since 1998 when it was the harbor island athletic club. It is so oversold and crowded now, you must show your card to a poor employee that stands in the parking lot to park (if there is a spot from 4-6 good freakin’ luck). Then, you scan in again to get inside. Then, you enter the horribly overcrowded mens locker (2
Toilets, really?) where the benches each hold 1-2 people while everyone stands around to get a locker and change. Then, you go to workout and there are NEVER any open benches or dip machine. And, God help you if you want to use a leg press on leg day. I have left the last 5 times without finishing my leg workout. I started going at 4 and it makes a little difference. Oh, and if you want to sit in the steam room, it holds 8, uncomfortably, but there are 708 rules on what you can do in there (like talk) And you end up standing in a corner. It sucks if you just want to go to a place to workout. But, if you want to pay x dollars more for a class on the treadmills or the workout stations, there is plenty of room for that if you like. And, working out, unmolested by extra charges or solicitation, by yourself? Good luck. You will never finish a workout here. If you want to stretch or roll out on a mat. You can, if you want to inconveniently lay out a mat where everyone walks around or in between the massage tables where trainers, for a small fee I’m sure, will stretch you. The front desk and cleaning folks are very nice and helpful. The “trainers” not so much. There are about 70 of them with whiteboards and other b.s. assessments to sell you stuff. Putting a “How long can you hang from a bar?” whiteboard right in the middle of the entrance to the workout floor and having “trainers” solicit you? Hell, I’d pay $15.00 Extra on leg day to book 6 minutes on the leg press, but I guess that’s what they want. Definitely not worth the $400 a month for my 18 year old kid and me. Which reminds me, if your kid likes to workout in crocs or slides, they ask him to leave. I guess next they will charge 15 bucks extra to wear slides. This place is like a miami south beach bar now.
Horribly Overcrowded, expensive, and not worth it if you just want to work out solo before or after work in downtown.

Only “nice” gym in Tampa. Just gets worse over time. They charge you for any extra events, you can’t bring a guest and reserve a class for them - they took away that capability, no free tennis classes. Horrible yoga classes, barely any guided ones available. It was great when they opened, but they’re slowly making it worse and worse. This city really needs an Equinox

Nice gym, terrible opening though, kept getting pushed back for well over half a year. Pool still isn't open. The cleaning staff is subpar too, watched a young employee walk into the men's sauna and tell a member he couldn't wear his locker room footwear in the sauna... while the employee was wearing his dirty street shoes in the sauna and left a pile of dirty towels on the floor. Also they still do not have the pool or the cold plunge open, yet are charging members the full price for the month...with no prorated fee...only "remedy" offered by staff was to pause your membership... truly poorly managed gym, maybe they will turn it around.
Update, the front desk staff has gone down hill too, they don't even look members in the eyes when leaving and would rather play on their phones than work. Update 2/5/25- sauna is still dirty everytime I go in. They've really dropped the ball. Might as well let people wear slippers in there rather than have dirty towels all over the floor.
Update-6/15/25 sauna is still dirty, I told the front desk 2 weeks ago and nothing has been done about it. The new front desk staff also avoids talking to members as they enter and leave, odd place to work in a business, I watched them avoid greeting or saying goodbye to 10 members while I waited by the water fountain.

💸 Typical Initiation Fees
Most new-member initiation fees at Life Time range from $49 to $170 and are often waived seasonally. In high-demand clubs, fees can climb to around $400, but that’s still an outlier.
❌ $1,000 Is Unusually High
A $1,000 initiation fee far exceeds the normal range for a standard membership. It likely reflects the shift from independent ownership to private-equity control. When PE firms buy companies, prices tend to rise while quality often declines.

You guys are criminal and staff are too uptight. Finding any way take profit and your guest policy is trash to have the same be able to visit once every 60 days. In addition to that, requiring a “donation” to go to your events with a member as a guest. I would give no stars if I could. My husband and I live on Harbour Island and were interested in touring the facility and becoming members. It has proven impossible to simply tour the facility. We showed up in person and were told we needed to call ahead, called ahead the next day and were told we needed to book online, could not find where to book online and when asked the “customer service” person I was put on hold for 20 minutes and eventually hung up because clearly she was not coming back. I then send a message through the site to see how we could book. After that I finally received a phone call from someone named Eric, I missed his call and immediately called back and left a voicemail, in the message I also provided my email contact- no call back or email. I have never witnessed a gym or club that makes it so difficult to view the facility and result in losing new members. Worst customer service I have ever experienced, I don’t see how it will last without drastic changes and now I understand the 2 star rating on Google.

I travel for the government often and have been to Life Time gyms all across the country and this one at Harbour Island is by far the worst one I’ve ever experienced. 1) WAY overpriced at $350+ a month 2) no steam sauna…are you kidding me?? 3) the free weights and machine area is cramped and congested 4) parking is stupid 5) some genius decided to put a cold plunge outside in the sun…its NOT a cold plunge!! 6) yet I tried to take a hot shower and it was cold?? No hot water.
I’ve been a member of Life Time since 2018 (started in Virginia) but I had to cancel. I joined Epic fitness for $37 a month (imagine, nearly 10% of the Life Time price) and it’s SO MUCH BETTER! True it’s not as bougie but I’m getting so much more value than at Life Time. Very sad.

I checked in at Lifetime today and brought in a small bag of food I had picked up elsewhere—nothing messy or disruptive, just something I planned to eat after my workout. I was stopped at the front and told I wasn’t allowed to even walk in with it. Not to eat it in the café, not to store it in a locker—literally just carrying it inside was not allowed.
I understand wanting to support your own café, but this felt unnecessarily rigid and unwelcoming, especially given how much members pay to be here. I expected more flexibility and common sense from a premium gym like Lifetime. This kind of policy makes it feel less like a community and more like a strict, impersonal business.

So when this location was announced, I felt something I hadn’t felt in a long time: hope. I put myself on the waiting list the second it was available, eager to relive that feeling, to reclaim a piece of my past. But what I walked into wasn’t the Lifetime I knew. It was something hollow, something unrecognizable—an echo of what once was, warped and drained of everything that made it special.
The gym is suffocatingly small, a claustrophobic mess where there’s no room to breathe, let alone move. The parking situation is a nightmare, a cruel joke that only adds to the frustration. And for the exorbitant price they charge, the fact that it doesn’t even stay open 24 hours feels like a slap in the face. I tried. God, I tried. I told myself I could make it work, that maybe it would get better, that maybe I was just expecting too much. But with every visit, that sinking feeling grew deeper—this wasn’t the place I had loved. This wasn’t home.
Canceling my membership felt like giving up on something I had held onto for so long. It felt like mourning. Like finally admitting that the past is gone and it’s never coming back. There are gyms a quarter of the price, with better equipment, more space, and fewer people, just minutes from my house. And yet, somehow, that realization didn’t bring me relief—it only made me grieve harder. Because Lifetime used to be different. It used to be special. Now, it’s just another overpriced, overcrowded corporate machine, catering only to those with money to burn. And for the rest of us, those who just wanted a place to belong, it’s nothing but a bitter reminder of what we lost.

I can’t say enough about this club. From the moment you walk in the staff is always friendly and attentive. The 2 managers Erick and Natalia happen to be up front when I entered today and made my experience special. My keycard wasn’t working at this location and they fixed it within 2 minutes and walked me to where I wanted to go. This above and beyond service is why I will never go to another venue

I’ve been a member of Life Time since 2016 and a Zumba instructor since 2018, and I can’t say enough great things about this gym! The entire staff is friendly, professional, and always a pleasure to work with. As both an instructor and a student in other classes, I’ve met so many amazing members and built a real sense of community here.
The hot yoga classes are incredible, and the studio is always clean and spacious. The bathrooms and locker rooms are immaculate, making every visit a great experience. I also love the outdoor amenities—basketball, pickleball, and the pool are fantastic, and the café is perfect for a quick, healthy bite. Life Time truly has everything you need for fitness and relaxation. Highly recommend!

The front desk was super helpful to get me booked for an open play pickleball session as an out of town visitor and I was able to bring my guest in. Not only that, the courts were pristine, community super friendly and solid, and w the cold plunge, easy parking, easy access, and amazing overall facility inside, I wish I could come here everyday.
The sauna and jacuzzi is also nicely organized in an efficient layout. This gym is a must visit!!!!
I can’t wait to come back. Plus the front desk staff were so friendly and helpful in person, super welcoming. I love this gym!!! LT never disappoints.
As for the negative reviews around pricing, they need to understand you can’t get such a nice facility and expect to pay planet fitness prices. That’s unbelievably entitled. Nice gyms are expensive and this one is a level above so that’s reflected in pricing.

I’ve never used Lifetime before, but this gym is fantastic! I don’t understand the negative reviews—maybe the price—but even then, you get a lot for what you pay.
The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, always willing to assist and make sure you have a great experience. The gym is also immaculately clean, has some of the best hours in Tampa (4 AM–12 AM), and offers a ton of amenities: Tennis, Circuit classes like CAMP (iykyk), and an amazing pool/bar area.
I’ve been in Tampa for a while and have tried LA Fitness, Crunch, CAMP, Anytime, and the YMCA—none of them come close to what Lifetime offers.
Bonus: Guest passes can be used for the pool! Highly recommend.

Great! Best place in Tampa to work out. Weights, cross-fit type classes, "Orange Theory" type classes, yoga, tennis, pickleball, cycle classes, towel service, sauna, hot tub, outdoor bar, restaurant, swimming, cold plunge plus a whole bunch more. And, I think the app is great. I've read some of these negative reviews and really don't get it. To get all of that for what they charge is, in my opinion, a bargain. I think people just want to complain. My response to anyone who thinks they pay too much for what they get at Lifetime is that they probably can't afford it. I hear CRUNCH is like $4 dollars a month. Maybe try that.

Overpriced, poor parking, smallest spin room I’ve ever seen, hidden but persistent marketing pressure, all designed to sell the luxurious gym idea. I fell for it, but I finally I see what this money making venue is.
Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

The gym is not worth the money. I've been a member with Lifetime since 2016 in Denver Colorado and for the past 3 years Tampa has been home for me.
However they don't accept Colorado membership and want $1000 initiation fee and $329 (plus other fees) per month and simply "the gym is not worth the money".
This would give me a business inspiration to start my own fitness corporation and provide a better service for less membership cost!

After joining online at a different location on the same club level as Lifetime Harbor Island, I was informed the next day that if I planned on coming to Harbor Island I would need to cancel that membership, rejoin the Harbor Island location, and pay an additional $1,000 initiation fee—despite already paying a fee to join the other location. On top of that, I was told the membership fee would increase next year, as if $439 per month isn’t already excessive.
Frankly, this location doesn’t even compare to other Lifetime Fitness facilities. It’s barely a step above the LA Fitness on Dale Mabry. Harbor Island’s approach feels entirely money-driven and out of alignment with the quality and reputation of the Lifetime brand. This experience has been deeply disappointing and frustrating.

I’m a Life Time member from NY and decided to visit the Tampa location since I’ll be here for a few weeks. The facility is indeed smaller than what I’m used to in NY (I go to the Westchester location), but it honestly has everything I need. The facility is clean and the staff are really friendly and attentive. The food at the cafe is also pretty good.
Third visit today, and my experience has been consistently pleasant.

We joined this club (we were previous members of Harbour Island Athletic Club) and were really looking forward to having one place for both pickleball and a gym. The pickleball courts are the worst we have ever played on, the ball just dies when it hits the surface. I spoke with a manager on more than one occassion and was told they were being repaired. After months of paying a premium that included pickleball, nothing was done about them so we decided to cancel our membership. The gym is small compared to other facilities and the attitude of the staff is totally unwarranted considering what is offered. They claim there is a wait list, but there isn't so don't let them fool you into thinking you are getting into something special. We were very dissappointed

TERRIBLE SERVICE - CANCEL NOW!
I recently visited the gym and had a terrible experience. My app wasn't working, so I gave the kind blonde lady my member number. Before she could check me in, I was rudely interrupted by an uneducated, arrogant black-haired woman. She insisted I couldn't use my member number, even though we pay a significant monthly fee. This was frustrating as I had spent the entire morning trying to resolve issues with their faulty system.
She repeatedly accused me of being rude, a tactic often used by those who cannot admit their mistakes. I was genuinely confused as to how she perceived my behavior. I've never been treated so poorly, not even at LA Fitness. In fact, she was the one being rude.
I strongly advise canceling your membership. It's a shame that a so-called "luxury gym" employs such terrible staff. I'll continue my workouts at the Tampa Yacht Club.
Thank you.

Life Time Harbour Island is fantastic. It’s spotless , has countless amenities , ample class schedules , friendly staff and a full service kitchen for daily eats/ drinks. I was a previous member at the legacy Harbour Island Athletic Cub on said property and the remodel is nothing short of amazing. Every aspect of the building and property is new and improved. The current footprint has a 2 story fitness area \outdoor pool \ 8 clay har thru tennis courts \ 12 Pickel ball courts \ outdoor cold plunge \ tiki bar with a large collection of comfortable sofas and chairs to relax. The Life Time model markets itself as a country club and that’s exactly what it is. For the cost, it’s a home run for residents in and around downtown Tampa / Harbour Island.
I utilize the clay tennis courts 4x a week and they are tournament ready all day long - constantly being swept and cleaned. Great head pro Alex. Each court has a shaded rest area. Per management ,2 outdoor ice machines will be installed soon making it even more impressive. After tennis or PB, members can utilize a no fee recovery area which includes hydro massage chairs , Normatec leg boots and CryoLounge chairs. This place has something for everyone - 3 yoga classes per day, spin , barre , personal trainers ( Justin is great ) , tons of cardio machines and even an over 50 GTX class 2x week which I participate in. And finally , the towels in the locker rooms are similar to what you would find in the Spa at The Ritz Carlton.
No place will ever be perfect or make everyone happy. It does appear that local management is fully engaged in this facility and willing to accept feedback from members. Areas to improve in would be a sound proof door in the yoga area ( as it’s adjacent to the kids room) , complimentary EV charger in the parking area , allow drop in Pilates classes , create an outdoor fitness area with turf and a Padel Court which could replace the half court basketball court which is underutilized.
This facility is barely 3 months old so I’m confident it will become even more impressive over time. Thank you Life Time for saving a valuable piece of S Tampa real estate and keeping it a fitness related property.

After being a member for several years and waiting through all the construction delays and false starts, to pay these type of rates for just above average amenities, it’s amazing to me that the employees are so rude. It starts as soon as you walk in the door. Instead of a “good morning” at best, you’re snubbed. Thats fine, but today the front desk lady “Lonna” rudely yelled at me for coming in on Thanksgiving. With such attitude. As if she’s had to tell me this time and time again. Yet, I’ve never seen her before, and the club was open, full of customers. What? On my way out, I asked another person the lady’s name and got a big run around, he didn’t know who that person working the front desk could have been, and apparently there was no manager on duty today. I don’t go there to socialize, I’m not part of whatever clique they have going on, but I’ll be damn if I’ll be talked down too and disrespected. I was so excited and had such high hopes waiting for this place to open, I’m so disappointed.

I grew up going to Lifetime Fitness so I was excited when this one was built. I was on the “waiting list” as soon as it was made available. I really wanted to love this gym, but this place isn’t anything like the Lifetime I grew up working out in. The entire gym is too small. There isn’t a ton of room to workout. Parking is a nightmare. And, I personally think at the price point it should be a 24 hour gym. I cancelled my membership because there are gyms 1/4th of the price with more space, new equipment, and less people closer to my house. I think this place is great if you have money to burn.

Incredibly disappointed in this new location. It’s substantially smaller than the one at International. They don’t even have a steam room. This club is a big upgrade to the old Harbour Island athletic club that used to be at this location. they have a constant stream of complementary group workout classes. The Jacuzzi and the men's room has very strong jets, which helps with recovery and they also have complementary Hydro massage chairs. There are only a few things they could change to make the club better in my opinion:
Several of the Tennis events are separated out either men or women not combined by level. In addition, they don't offer many clinics that are 90 minutes or more starting at 9 AM which would be a perfect time. Instead, they start earlier or in the day or they start at 6 PM, but it's too difficult to get there with traffic at 6 PM. It would be better if they start clinics at 7 or 7:30 PM since not everyone lives on Harbour Island.
It's a great idea to have a spa at this location. I get massages often, but they only have male massage therapists available on the schedules. I've been looking at the schedule of who is available for months and only see guys. My wife and I both prefer a female massage therapist so we won't be doing that here.
There used to be a large outside hot Jacuzzi with strong jets, but they've now converted it into a cold plunge. The cold plunge is nice, but the lack of a large hot Jacuzzi outside is sad.
So the some of the things I liked about the old Harbour Island athletic club are no more. Awesome coed group tennis programs that started at 9 AM for 90 minutes. Those are gone. Tennis programs that lasted 90 minutes starting at 7 PM are gone. The big hot Jacuzzi outside is gone.

The level of the sports club is not bad at all. I love the open space gym area, excellent locker room for women. There are many nuances that need to be fixed and the smiles of the staff will be not enough, the managers should get involved. But what depressed me most was the lack of a large sign "no phone" in the sauna! if you do not know, then what Lithium batteries can overheat due to: Using a faulty charger, Overcharging the battery, A short circuit, and Exposure to high temperatures.
Please inform the guests and please inform guests and try to make sure that guests do not enter the sauna with phones, I personally do not want to become a victim of a phone explosion.

I came to this location as a member’s guest. The check in process took 15+ minutes for me. My friend had to text me a website. Then, I had to create an account, fill out my information, download an app, & navigate in and out app. Then, the check in still did not work, even with the front desk assists taking my phone and attempting to figure it out. The front desk assistant, Andrea, finally took out an iPad that was under their desk and signed me in, which took less than a minute.
Why was this not done in the first place? Why did the front desk make me go through a lengthy 15+ minute check in as a guest when they could have taken the iPad out and checked me in under a minute? The front desk staff did not apologize. The customer service was disappointing. I expected better from Life Time.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I was told this location was designed to have a "country club" feel. It is anything but classy. Between the subpar services and the pool, which sounds and looks like a cheesy Miami/Vegas outdoor club (not a good one), this place really misses the mark. I had one of the most horrific first impression experiences this evening. I was previously a member of Life Time at International Plaza.
From the moment I walked in, I could sense something was off. I had already heard horrific things about the new general manager, and unfortunately, the rumors seemed to be true.
The front desk tried to offer a country club-like experience, but it felt forced and disorganized. When I asked for assistance, the staff member responded, “I am the only one here and can’t do anything.” How does that even make sense? It gave me zero confidence in the management of the place. The gentleman did not even greet us as we entered. Where’s that warm welcome you used to get at the old Life Time?!
After reading all the reviews, I don’t need to do a tour of this facility. The general manager needs a serious wake-up call because the customer experience is shockingly bad. Bahram Akradi, the CEO, has to be unaware of the poor treatment people are receiving. This location feels like an afterthought, and honestly, they should have either stayed at the old spot or built something brand new from the ground up. They can do so much better, but it seems like nobody is paying attention to the customer experience anymore.

I am torn on how to rate this club. There are some really great things and some really not so great things.
My interactions with staff have been mixed. Brandon is absolutely wonderful. I’ve spoke with him several times on the tennis courts. He and his team are always very courteous and work very hard to keep the facility running to the best of their ability. I have come across some of upper management that seem rude and don’t care much about the members or their staff. Honestly, they walk around rather smug, and it makes for an uncomfortable environment.
The facility itself is decent. I feel it could have been thought out better in renovation planning, but that’s not always easy when turning an older facility into something new. There have been lots of issues with the cold plunge, and hot tub lately. Which is disappointing. The tennis courts and pickleball are very well maintained and I enjoy them very much. I do wish there was some sort or shade offered though. The Florida sun can be brutal. That makes it difficult to enjoy the outdoor amenities in the peak of the day.
I hope with all the reviews I’ve read recently that some big changes are coming. I want to enjoy the club and believe it can be a fantastic place. My biggest hope is that the upper management is able to bring up the morale of the team members. It’s missing the energy and atmosphere that Lifetjme is known for. That all starts at the top.

Join for the kids center!
We were original Harbour island members but didn’t really think we’d join Lifetime as we couldn’t imagine they would have made it nice enough to justify the price.
They did a really nice job with the space they had. It’s much much nicer than it was before and has almost everything you’d want. The classes are also top notch.
In terms of pickleball (12) and tennis courts (8) at a nice club nothing else really compares in the area. Especially when you add in the child care.
Unlike most places they do not just plop your kids in front of the TV. The lady running it does a great job and has several people helping her. They actively do arts and crafts, play games, etc. with your kids the whole time. They will even do their homework with them. My kids don’t want to leave. All this while I’m playing tennis or hitting the weight room and sauna.
This is a big item on our budget but worth it!
Two suggestions for management.
There should be included tennis mixers and pickleball mixers. You could even just reserve a time and some courts without a pro running it. Charging for every single court activity when I’m paying over $600 a month gets old.
I don’t seem to get any responses when I send in questions/feedback in the app.

To the owner(s) of Lifetime Fitness Harbour Island . This is a long review .
I will start by saying that the janitorial/maintenance/operations team’s are amazing. I’ve never seen a group of people work harder than these staff members. They are diligent and mindful in their work and that shows in their craft of maintaining the facilities to the best of their abilities with what they’re given.
That being said… I don’t know if the treatment of the people who work for this Lifetime location matter but what I’ve witnessed isn’t ok. I’ve been a member for a few years and I remember the old club that was in the mall. It was exciting , energetic and every team member was beaming and truly seemed like they mattered. The Harbour island location seems as if it’s more of COMPOUND than a Lifetime and RULED over instead of having managers who might actually care about their employees instead of just their pockets.
One of the oddest and most concerning things I’ve witnessed lately is the pool attendants. Why do the they have to stand the entire time? It gets hot and very humid in Tampa, so why have I never seen the pool attendants ( I come at peak times /different times) sit or even have a chair to sit in at times? I don’t mean sit there for the entirety of their shift but give them a break. It gets HOT in Florida. They need proper shade and a fan or something for a little air circulation.
Why does every one on management (upper management) come off as rude and just focused on themselves ? Upper management is supposed to make money for the club, yes, but do the team members who are out in the heat, getting dirty and the ones on the inside making sure the club is immaculate and the way it’s supposed to be, matter ? The energy is different here. Not in a good way. There needs to be a shift in management in my opinion. Never seen or met any management that always comes off as so rude.
Again, I’ve been to numerous lifetimes and this is not it. There is a way to treat the people who actually make LIFETIME… LIFETIME… I really hope a change is made and some things are put in order . Hopefully the team members that make the place what it is are getting paid WELL and I’m not talking about upper management. Faculty and team members and whoever works for a brand should not be treated as a number but treated as an important part of the brand and like they matter because without the team members/faculty holding up the standards, Lifetime wouldn’t be the nationally recognized and AMAZING brand it is.

Hoping this finally gets someone’s attention since I have mentioned it to multiple employees/managers. This gym has zero interest in basic hygiene. There are no signs reminding people to clean the equipment (which no one does). There are a handful of wetwipe dispensers that are hard to find and literally empty 50% of the time. This morning the gym was literally packed. 10+ personal trainers, 4-5 people standing at the front desk. ONE guy wandering around aimlessly with a spray bottle. Didn’t clean a single piece of equipment, just wandered through the gym floor.
I wipe down before and after since I can’t count on them to care or to remind the other patrons to clean after themselves. For a “luxury” gym this place is underwhelming and over packed. But if you’re interested in buying personal training sessions, supplements or dropping an additional $500 a day for the privilege of using a cabana, there’s plenty of people available to take care of that.
Bottom line. If they want to keep members, they need to refocus. Stop trying to sell me stuff and start making me feel like I’m getting something more than what I could have gotten at a regular gym for $25/month

UPDATE: I'm sorry but I had to revise my review! Not sure these folks appreciate how much of a disruption it is to have the GTX room wide open and embedded in a crammed fitness area. I'm beginning to wonder whether they are listening to the feedback. Definitely some kinks to address and improvements to be made as other reviewers have pointed out!
The jury is still out! So far, my experience has been bittersweet. I have the misfortune of having been a member in Northern Virginia, Orange County CA, and Miami, so I'm comparing against those other facilities and this one falls quite short. The one important feedback I have for management is, you have to enclosed the GTX room. Not sure what your architects/designers/planners were thinking when they left that room open wide next to the fitness area. The music and the trainers on the microphone are so loud that it becomes highly disruptive to members working out on the floor. Please do something soon as this may be a determining factor for us.

Signed up for early access and was given a link to join. I had a few questions but no one ever answered the phone or returned calls. Now that they are open they answer the phone but there has been a huge price increase. All of the other poor reviews show I got lucky not becoming a member.

This place is extremely underwhelming. They claim to be “luxury” but feels like a planet fitness. The waitlist story varies on who you ask. The pool was out of order for over a month, but no discount to the already to high rates. There is also an initiation fee that varies per person. Currently over $1000. What a waste considering I am canceling after 2 months. The club has many rules and an overall bad vibe. Lots of wasted space. Tiny spin room, yoga next to the loudest kids club I’ve ever heard. The instructors I took were all good. But this was a big miss. I wish Tampa got an equinox instead.

Several months waiting to finally be my turn on their waiting list to find out they require $1000 initiation fee. Life Time in Boca Raton required $0 initiation fee and was a full resort gym.

Been a lifetime member since 2018. Just moved to Tampa and was thrilled to have this location opening. Despite some of the reviews you see online, I personally love it. Like anything else it’s what you make out of it. I am glad to be a member.

Ive been a Signature Level 2 member since 2022 and to say my experience was underwhelming is an understatement. I remember going to the other location and it was fine. Then I heard about this location opening up on this date, on this date etc. I reached out to check on additional costs since originally it wasn’t “included” on our member level. I believe they wanted $300 more on top of the $359 monthly. I told them they can pound sand. Then mysteriously this club was included in our membership. I was pumped to find this out. So I came here for massage today which Bailey did a great job but there are some key things missing with this club.
First, no steam room in the Men’s locker room? The Kids Academy? All of the kids are in one room together and it’s a rather cramped room as well. I asked if there was plans to expand but there is not. I can’t imagine brining a baby there because it’s loud in there. I went to the Cafe and they were out of 3 types of Shakes - one I asked for before I was told they were out. Also, when I got my message, there was no Hot Tea available. I counted 12 trainers on the floor but only 2 were busy. I felt bad for them. The layout on the gym floor seemed very cramped between equipment.
I’m glad they opened but some changes need to be made with this layout if possible esp with all the kids in one room.
UPDATE: On Saturday, the pool opened and it’s nice. I like they do not make you scan as you enter the pool area. There are two pools - one for adults and one for kids. There’s also an outdoor plunge pool.

This is just a regular gym that charges $329 a month because it’s located on Harbor Island. I’ve been to way better gyms at less than half the cost of this. For this price, it should be mind blowing with state of the art machines you can’t find anywhere else.

I went in with a guest pass to tour the facility and the two guys at the front desk were overly pretentious, acting like they work for Pebble Beach country club, but worse, also completely unhelpful and didn't have the image to justify their demeanor.
I understand the whole "county club" vibe they're going for and the price they are charging to keep clientele "exclusive." However, the gym itself is lackluster. I'll wait for an Equinox to open.

Just go to Golds Gym..
The staff is friendly and I understand they are just doing their job but good lord the management is horrendous and has made my experience at a luxurious gym miserable. I had a friend visit from out of town who really wanted to check out the gym and after waiting an entire month after the gym opened to actually be able to bring a guest, I finally bring him in at 4:28 and I’m told guest are only allowed from 11:00 to 4:00. There was never any notice of this prior. I apologize and ask if an exception can be made since it’s only a few mins past and it won’t happen again, no exceptions. It was unbelievable and I understand wanting to make sure the members are taken care of by not overcrowding the gym during busier times, but this was far from taking care of your members. There is other examples I could make, and not one to write reviews but management has made what could be a great gym, very unpleasant.

Natalia and the staff here have truly done an incredible job of turning a fast moving opening into a flourishing community gym. From a functional standpoint, its basically an orange theory, crossfit, yoga, spin, barre, and la fitness all under one roof. Not to mention the tennis, pickle, and pool area are all included and top notch. They did a really excellent job during the hiring process and the place is filled with smiling and helpful faces

I was an original member of Lifetime fitness at International Mall and was excited to hear about the construction of a new upgraded facility, since the other Lifetimes I have visited around the country were larger and provided more amenities then the one in Tampa. I understand that construction in Florida is difficult and that renovations at Harbour Island took longer than expected. So I greatly anticipated I fantastic new club. Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed. I was surprised at how small the free weight and machine area was. The equipment was stacked on top of each other and there was a limited variety of machines. There was a limited number of showers and toilets compared to the International mall location. The fact that there is no STEAM ROOM is crazy, since every budget gym (EOS, Crunch, LA Fitness) has one. I wasn’t able to try the cold plunge because it was not working the times I came to the gym. I’m not sure how an outdoor converted hot tub without a cover or roof will stay cold. I asked the building maintenance supervisor and he wasn’t sure either. The bottom line is if you are going to charge $1000 to join and $329 a month for a “premier gym” have top notch amenities and the best gym equipment possible. I hope management doesn’t send me the same boiler plate response they have sent to all the other unhappy customers, I find it very patronizing. This is obviously a large corporately owned gym, that only cares about the bottom line.

I have been very impressed with the new facility and the quality of my experience at this location. All I can say is that it was definitely worth the wait! The new recovery area is one if my favorite features that we did not have at the old location and I’m excited for the outdoor amenities (Pool, pickle ball, tennis, cold plunge etc). Everything is new and state of the art. I highly recommend visiting this club!

Joining this gym is hands down the best decision I’ve made in my fitness journey. I’ve been a member at LifeTime for about 10 years. Thanks to Justin, the Personal Training Program Lead, I’ve lost over 100 pounds and discovered my passion for fitness. The culture he has built in his group fitness classes is one of the main reasons I keep coming back. I’ve made countless friendships, some that will be lifelong.
The new location is super impressive! It’s spacious, has multiple floors with brand-new workout equipment and lifting platforms, on top of some other sweet amenities. The group fitness classes are both challenging and fun, and Justin’s energy always keeps me laughing and motivated.
They offer a wide variety of classes suitable for all fitness levels, and every staff member has been super awesome. I highly recommend this gym—I travel 30 minutes a day to get there because I love it (and the people) that much!

I've had an outstanding experience at this gym! The facility itself is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. The atmosphere is welcoming and energizing, which makes every workout enjoyable. Justin and Amy, two incredible trainers, are truly exceptional—knowledgeable, motivating, and supportive. Their classes are dynamic and effective, ensuring you get the most out of every session. I highly recommend joining this gym if you’re looking for a top-notch fitness experience.

Not really that high end! In other words, in my opinion the high membership fees are not justified. This lifetime facility is a few notches below their nicer flagship facilities. The layout and placement of some of the equipment is not well thought out, lighting is gloomy (no windows or any kind of natural light, which makes it a bit depressing), the towels are the cheapest of the cheap and they're like sandpaper (you better bring your own), the cafe is super small and fills up very quick (that's why you cannot bring any non-members to the cafe for lunch or a drink), parking lot is rather small and limited (during peak times/days it is impossible to find a spot). Comparing this gym with, say, Equinox (not yet in Tampa), makes this facility feel more like (no offense to anyone) Crunch Fitness or Planet Fitness without some of the "bells and whistles."
BTW, I completely agree with another reviewer about the GTX area right on the fitness floor not being enclosed. The loud volume and disruption is too much!!!

I been a member at various lifetimes since 2012 and this location definitely fell short of my expectations. Especially, for the rate they are charging. The old Tampa location was much better. This is also the only Lifetime I have ever been to without a steam room. Doesn’t seem correct to call this one of their “signature” locations.

Customer service upon walking in is the only thing they have gotten right. Gym is cramped, morning classes never have space, very limited amount of equipment unless you are doing cardio. You have to dodge personal trainers’ sales pitches and stares like a used car lot while working out. Lockers rooms are just ok, not enough showers, no real amenities. Kids’ room is very small and the scheduled classes aren’t followed. This gym would be a great $50 a month gym and only if you live nearby because of morning/evening traffic along with very limited parking. I’ve paid similar prices for gyms 10x better. Not sure what lifetime was thinking with this location

Weight class room is very warm. Also people waste a lot of time putting the bench together. Which is also messy because people get too close to each other. In the old location, the bench was already there so people didn’t have to move it around.

I disagree with the current 2.6 star average, so leaving 5 stars to bump that up. Even though the reopening process has been awful, the facility and high-end fitness equipment is worthy of more appreciation. TechnoGym & Hoist machines are more effective vs. most on the market, and cryotherapy/hydromassage/Normetec recovery chairs are phenomenal; complimentary with membership. The size of the sauna is disappointing, but nice to use during slower hours.

I am not one to leave reviews, but by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with lifetime. I come from Denver and I have been a member since 2017, I spoke to somebody name G**y and he immediately belittled me and basically told me I’m not allowed to have any info on the gym and to get on waiting list and that I cannot even come to VIEW the facility even though I have a signature membership. I asked him ball park the wait time out of curiosity and his response… “could be a month, could be a year, do you have any other questions?” Perfect way to get more clients. This club needs to get it together

This is a non-inclusive club. We have been living behind the gate right next to it for 20 years were members of the previous gym and told there's not enough room for Latinos here so they'll drag everyone else from all over but disclude the Harbor Island residents.
