A powerhouse in Weston should not struggle to prioritize something as basic as properly heating the pool. For the last two weeks, the pool has been freezing, and nothing has been done with the urgency the situation deserves.

What about the members who pay specifically to use the pool? This is sad, disappointing, and far below the standard we expect.

My family joined the club 3 months ago. I have reported to the staff numerous times for 3 months that the showers don’t work properly in the women’s locker room. The first shower continuously running water after it is closed, the second showers water temperature cannot be controlled and is always very hot. It is very sad to see water waste.
I have also reported all the times that the jacuzzi needs cleaning a few times per day to be able to be used because when is dirty it gets all foamy.

I was a member for 1 year, is not that great as they advertise. Is not bad either but in the end I didn’t see it to be worth the money. I used the swimming pool mostly and took the tennis in no time but some members are just nasty. I stopped going cause I just didn’t like the people and constant loud crowds everywhere. The staff is amazing though, Francisco is the best swim coach and having Craig as a tennis instructor was a pleasure. The front desk staff is amazing also. I also appreciated the instructors who use English during their classes. There isn’t much diversity (ok it’s Florida I know) and in some classes I didn’t enjoy the Spanish instructions or them playing only Latino music. Overall I think is worth giving it a year or two but not more than that. I wish they had an option to just let me use the pool. I would buy that membership.

I never write reviews – if I’m unhappy, I’ll just leave. But I’ve never felt so scammed in my life – every time I walk into Midtown, I feel like a sucker. Midtown is an absolute, total disappointment. I don’t mind paying more for superior service, far from it, but what Midtown is offering is a product that is objectively inferior to YouFit and the Weston YMCA at luxury price. The only, ONLY reason I see anyone joining is because of the tennis courts. If you’re just into working out, there are a dozen better options in the area, sure, they’re not as “prestigious” as Midtown, they won’t have mouthwash at the sinks and a cafe, but you’ll get a sweat in without being in an anthill, smelling other people farts for an hour.

Major issue 1: Crowded. When I joined a year ago, there were fewer members and more classes at different times. In the past year they significantly expanded the membership without increasing the size of the facilities, which were pretty small to begin with – everything is now absolutely cramped. Good luck going to the gym after work – most gyms are crowded at that time, but here you’ll not have an open machine or bench at all. It’ll be full of 15-year-olds hogging every known machine while they scroll on their phone, and not re-racking their weights and putting equipment away.

Major issue 2: The classes. During my membership, Midtown closed half its facilities for four months for renovations. That’s fine – the promise being that there’ll be more indoor classes with more variety. The Field, the result of these renovations, is an artificial turf space that takes up approx. 800 square feet of space that used to be dedicated to cardio equipment (now squeezed on the other side of the floor). The result – three to four classes a day, half of which take place during working hours. Only two classes after working hours PER WEEK. So, if you can’t make it between 8-5 or have kids activities, you’re pretty much out of luck.

The result is a massive space that’s mostly unused for most of the day, and when classes do occur, they’re absolutely packed, you’ll be trying not to bump into anyone else doing a sit up. I made the mistake of going to a class this morning, and there was a minimum of 30 people there. Imagine 30 people working out in your living room.

The availability of the cardio classes is somewhat better (Apex & Endure), but you can’t do those daily – if you like weights, there is a Bootcamp class, but it occurs only twice daily – either during school drop off, or after 9am. Why no afternoon bootcamp classes? Why no classes during lunch? Why does everything stop at 6pm? Why no classes on Friday afternoons? Why can’t you reserve your spot in a class so it’s not overcrowded?
I’ll just tell my kids to walk to school and reschedule my meetings to accommodate Midtown’s schedule.

Major issue 3: The price. I believe you should get what you pay for – if I’m paying this much for a gym membership, and I want more than nice fixtures in the bathrooms and free towels.
What they sold me was a huge variety of classes at times that suited me and a great gym and then pulled the rug out with their Field. I feel scammed.

And when their entire schedule changed, I wanted to cancel my membership. But – they lock you in a 12-month contract – you have no choice but to see it through. I’ve been lied to, and I’ve been paying for it for the past six months.

I have to mention one massive positive – the staff and trainers are amazing, they really are. The swimming classes for children are amazing (both my kids learned to swim here), and massive shoutout to Francisco.

But compare this facility to the Chicago one – Chicago has more studios, more classes with more variety (Boxing! Lifting!). The Weston facility is just antiquated, small, crowded, and overpriced for what it actually offers.

Beautiful club. However, if you are interested in joining this club to play hard court tennis, forget it. The club has only 3 hard courts and over 20 clay courts. The 3 hard courts are consistently taken by kids classes or lessons. A real shame and a waste that such a nice facility doesn’t offer a 50/50 balance between the number of hard courts and clay courts. If you like clay court tennis, then this club is for you. If not, stay away.

Best gym in Weston, but with cleanliness issues. I have been a member for 16 years and recently started to notice some issues. The club advertises "luxury locker rooms" on the web site. However, the AC registers in men's locker room have been filthy for a long time. I have raised this matter with the management (through surveys they send out) and front desk personnel (who are always super friendly) at least 4 times over the last 12 months. No result. Apparently, they think it's OK to have it this way.

This review is of their sauna and steam room. I am currently not a member but as a guest of a relative that is a member I had the opportunity to try out the facilities. Theoretically they have a nice set-up with well appointed lockers. There is a sauna, steam room and whirlpool with very accessible showers.

Sadly the sauna is very dirty, moldy, rusted and should probably not be operational. The whole purpose of sauna use is to detox. I’m pretty sure one could get mold in their lungs from sitting in this room. I wasn’t able to tolerate it for more than 5 minutes. The steam is in great condition and a very enjoyable temperature. The whirlpool appeared clean and was also at a great temperature.

Unfortunately the environment is extremely undesirable and unpleasant.

Front desk was extremely unprofessional and rude. Thought that would be the worst part of the club. I toured the club but didn’t stay long as it was extremely packed, there was a person on almost every single machine. I was required to sign a waiver that included my contacts to which I thought was for emergency purposes. But nope. I was constantly called, texted and emailed in an attempt to join the club. I finally answered and asked the person to stop calling. I was then texted afterwards. Again, I asked to be left alone just to receive a snarky reply with emojis. It seems the staff of this club share the same standards of unprofessionalism.

For a club advertising and charging premium gym caliber pricing your customer service is on par with a 24 hour fitness chain. Shouldn't make a potential new gym member sign an activity waiver then wait 15 minutes for a kid barely out of high school to tell me it's against policy to allow me to experience the gym without being accompanied by a an established member. The most professional coaches, an amazing place and really nice people working on. I have taken private classes with many of them Mikhael , Donna, Eryn, Aurelio, they all push to challenge yourself in every exercise. Mikhael always worries about our health and our best performance in class. He uses every equipment he can into challenge ourselves. Donna makes your full body rock in every training, she knows what a women needs to work after 40!! Our family has been a member of Midtown for 15 years. Our time at the club has included KidTown, class, personal training, and new friendships to last a lifetime. To say that the club is a huge part of our lives is an understatement.

We appreciate the warm welcome from the front desk, professional instructors, a spa with excellent massage therapists, and of course the personal trainers.
While the classes are outstanding we have blended the classes with personal training enabling us to drill down to a more personal approach to our specific requirements. In doing so we have worked with several trainers. All are excellent and any choice is a good choice. Over the past few years Mikhael Ricks has been our go to for that one-on-one, couples, or small group program. He has the most unique approach, disposition, and motivational approach it works and drives us. He is truly the only human that can get my husband to actually show up. Me… I show up willingly and looking forward the the next challenge. As I tell him, “you own me
for the hour” and I do my best to meet his expectations (and mine). He keeps it real, interesting, and fun - we know he truly cares.

Let me stress that while personal training is amazing you don’t need that to achieve goals at Midtown. The classes are phenomenal and allow anyone to achieve their goals with expert support and well trained individuals.

I don’t know what I would do without Midtown. It is the perfect fit for the healthy lifestyle I enjoy… even my husband. The next step is instilling/motivating our teens to join the fun.

She is very knowledge on many health and fitness topics, and shares that knowledge as she leads us through each movement. It is obvious that she puts a lot of time into her class prep and choice of music. Teri also ensures you complete each routine with correct movement to prevent injury .

She listens to me as to what concerns I may have and tailors our workouts to address these concerns as well as general improvement in my fitness. Over the years Teri has helped me recover from injuries and improved my flexibility by making adjustments to exercises or movements based on how my body is feeling on a particular day. She is amazing and no only a great instructor, she explains what muscle is impacted by every different exercise on the Reformer. Fantastic Gym with Exceptional Service and Amenities

I've been a member at Midtown Athletic Gym for a while now, and I must say, their customer service is top-notch. The staff always greet you with a smile and are incredibly helpful. One of the highlights for me and my wife is the kids club, which allows us to enjoy a workout and some pickleball while our little ones are taken care of twice a day for two hours. It's a game-changer for busy parents like us.

Additionally, the sauna and steam room facilities are a wonderful way to unwind after a tough workout. However, I would suggest adding shaving cream and razors to the amenities, similar to what I've seen at other gyms like Lifetime Fitness.

The on-site cafe is fantastic, offering a variety of healthy options, although it would be great if it opened earlier in the morning for those early birds. The newly added pickleball courts are a welcome addition, complementing the club's strong focus on tennis. Speaking of which, the tennis lessons offered here are excellent, and I personally had a great experience learning from Ismael.

Overall, Midtown Athletic Gym provides a fantastic fitness experience with outstanding service and amenities. With a few minor improvements, it could easily become the go-to gym for anyone looking to stay fit and active. Highly recommended!

This is a great place and environment. I have been taking group classes, spinning, private weight training, semi-private weight training and tennis lessons. The facility is top notch and the trainers/coaches are excellent. Ive taken over a year of weight training with Lisbany A. (Both private and semi-private) and the sessions are challenging and different from what I would do on my own. I felt supported and I feel so much stronger, even when I walk. It’s been life changing. She is attentive and very knowledgeable. I’ve also had training sessions (semi-private) with Donna C. and they are also fantastic.
The tennis program is outstanding and I’ve learned so much from my coaches. Special mention to coaches Kiki, Hosana and Michael H. They know the game and help to improve all aspects of strokes, strategy to the fundamentals. The tennis program is also very social if you join the leagues offered. I love it.

In addition to her cheeky sense of humor, she is the best DJ at Midtown! Coach Camilla trains strong women to the next level of fitness based on her incredible resume as a CrossFit athlete. I have been a member of the gym for many years and I highly recommend Lisbany as a trainer. I love her Wednesday class and decided to work with her to make myself stronger and to learn the proper way to use the weights and machines. Midtown Athletic Club has been home for over thirty years. I can't think of a better way to start my day than at Midtown. It is my happy place with all it has to offer. Over the years my favorite things to do have changed a bit, but I never feel bored. There are so many options to stay motivated with your physical fitness. Most of all, I must admit that my motivation comes from the amazing trainers and coaches. I will always praise their accolades because of what they have done for me. The have been many. Isabel Lowery has been my go to girl for over a year now. She is an incredible motivator, an expert trainer, and a very special person. Hand down the best gym/club in South Florida! The equipment is top of the line and the gym and amenities are always clean, which is a huge plus. The staff is very personable and the trainers well educated. I have been training with Coach Mikhael for years and he is truly an expert in his craft, and takes the time to make a personalized plan based on your goals, taking into consideration past injuries and anything else too. The club offers awesome classes too!

Highest recommendations for Coach Isabel and Coach Mikhael!

I have trained individually with Isabel and am so grateful for how she pushes me to be my best while keeping me safe at the same time. Her approach is very thoughtful- she understands functional fitness; strength training; balance; and women's physique. Under her guidance, I look and feel great; and know that I could work out with her forever and that she would adapt her approach as needed so that I am my best at any age.

Coach Mikhael is also awesome! I have had the pleasure of doing Small Group Training with him over the past few months and am amazed how he keeps everyone motivated; safe; and pushed to their individual capacities. He's extremely knowledgeable and never does the same thing twice!
