This is the best and only swimming program that has EVER helped me! It's not the strokes, it's helping me release/conquer my deeply ingrained fear of water! I will attend additional sessions; it's very well worth the fee. I highly highly recommend Miracle Swimming!!

Melon's approach/methods are unlike ANY other; I have taken swim lessons from many other "instructors," but Melon is by FAR the best and only one who understand our fears and helps us release them. I can now hang out comfortably and confidently in the deep end for as long as I want . . . no noodles, no floaties - just ME! Woohoo!!

I'm 69 years old, and I've always been afraid of any water where I can't touch the bottom. After many frustrating attempts to learn to swim with other swim instructors and swim schools, I thought something was truly wrong with me. Then I tried Miracle Swimming. I immediately recognized that this approach was something different when the instructor asked me to please NOT do anything that felt uncomfortable or unsafe, and to be kind to myself if I didn't succeed immediately. This really works. I'm astonished at the progress I made, and the confidence I gained. I CAN swim! And it was so fun. I'm looking forward to my next level class with Miracle Swimming.

It has always bothered me that I grew up terrified of water. I've tried numerous times as an adult to learn how to swim, only to have my fear crop up within the first 5-10 minutes. Traditional swim instructors never knew what to do with me, even the ones who were kind and who wanted to help. As I approach 50 I wanted to try again, so I signed up for classes locally that ended up being a disappointing bust yet again. After my last disappointing swimlabs class where I just counted the minutes until I could leave (and it was only a 20 minute lesson to begin with!!), I googled "swim instructor for adults with severe water phobia" and that search directed me to Melon. I combed the website, watched her youtube videos, read her book, listened to her podcast, and finally signed up for swim school in Sarasota-- the Essentials 1 Slo Mo class. But I still didn't really believe I could learn how to swim. I figured it would be another disappointment, but at least I'd get a little vacation out of it. So imagine my utter amazement when I was independently front-floating within the first couple of sessions. Everything was self-paced, and I learned how to listen to my body's cues, how to stop panic from setting in and taking me out of my body, how to stay where things felt fun and comfortable until the learning expanded organically. Melon is more than a swim teacher, she is a guru. The week of class wasn't just about swimming--it was about healing a lifetime of inhibition and self-consciousness and fear around the water. Melon's method has applications for me that go far beyond the swimming pool. Did I learn strokes? No, not yet. Did I learn how to do tricks or dive into the pool? No, not yet. But for the first time in my life, I floated. I trusted my body in the water. And for the first time in my life, I know that someday I'll be comfortable in deep water, comfortable in the ocean, that I'll snorkel with my kids, that I'll jump off the boat. I can't wait to continue this journey, and I would not hesitate to encourage anyone out there with even the most severe water phobia to give Melon's method a chance. It is not scary, it is empowering.

A transformative course, focused on calm discovery of moving safely in the water, through understanding your body and mind's response to it. Much fun too! And supremely supportive and sensitive tutors, giving time and space for all participants to voice their past experiences and learning reflections. Split between discussion and pool-time really aids deep appreciation of the course philosophy and 'absorbing' it in the water.

Life changing!
I have gone from being someone who didn’t even like going to the hairdressers because they panic leaning their head back in the basin to have their washed, to floating on their back feeling the support of water. Magical!
No being forced to do what frightens you like in normal swimming lessons, just hours of relaxed, gentle fun time in water.
I’d watched the videos but never believed it would be me! A dream come true!
I can’t wait to get back in the water!

Taking that first Miracle Swimming class was transformative to say the least. And I found it completely by accident. If someone had said to me I am afraid of water I would have thought that absurd. I have lived near the ocean all my live. I am a sailor. The idea that I would be afraid of water would sound ludicrous to me. But I took the course because I was failing at the triathlon swim. I’ve had the goal to complete an Olympic distance triathlon and had struggled with the swim portion for many years. I had taken many swimming classes, learned how to freestyle and could “swim” a mile in the ocean. But I was not comfortable and I was not finishing the swim and in one instance I didn’t even get in the water. So, something was not working. And I did not know what it was.

I found Miracle Swimming via an internet search and coincidentally there was a class being held in my city. So I took a chance to see if this class would help. OMG. Did it ever! The class was not cheap so I “leaned in” and kept an open mind. I did every exercise and paid attention to everything in class. And the results were pretty remarkable. I, for the first time, was comfortable in deep water (in the pool and also the ocean). And it only took one Essentials 1 course to get me there. I have now completed both the Essentials 1 and 2 classes and cannot wait to take the more advanced classes through Miracle Swimming. For the first time I am having fun in the water instead of worrying about how to stay afloat. None of the many, many swimming classes I had taken in the past helped me get comfortable with water. At one time I was even told that I had dense bones and that’s why I could tread water.

The Miracle Swimming teaching method is essential for anyone that did not grow up spending most of their childhood in the pool or is not comfortable hanging in the deep end of the pool. I cannot recommend this method enough. Their Essentials classes should be a pre-requisite for everyone before they ever think of taking a strokes class.

I had the most incredible and life changing experience with Miracle Swimming. I had the deepest rooted phobia of getting into water. I could not go into the ocean or leave the edge of the pool. I took lessons at various places but with zero success and a lot of frustration. None of those places ever addressed the root of my fears and glossed over that integral part which was hindering my ability to learn. Melon truly understands those of us with a fear. All other lessons start at 0, but people with fear start at -10, they need to first get to a base of 0 to even think about absorbing the material. I had hope, but I felt like I was a true hopeless case, yet by the end of Essentials 1 Slo Mo I👏 WAS 👏 SWIMMING 👏. A whole new world has been opened up to me. And these lessons can be applied to all areas of your life. I feel like a more centered, calmer person as a result. Take it from someone with the deepest, darkest fear of water.. if I can get this far, YOU CAN TOO.

To say the Miracle Swimming program was transformative is beyond an understatement! In all my previous attempts to learn how to swim, not once has my comfort in the water been centered and uplifted as the only factor that matters. By focusing on being calm and finding joy and comfort in the water, Teresa, Jan, and Melon provided me with a lifelong gift—the critical yet often overlooked foundation on which to build new skills.

My goal was to learn to swim, which I achieved, but more importantly, I learned to trust myself and redefine my relationship with water.

Taking the Essentials I course at Miracle Swimming was a life-changing experience for me. I have been afraid of deep water all my life and traditional swimming lessons never worked. Miracle Swimming’s method is different and it works. I liked being with a group of people that understood how I felt, and our teacher, Teresa, made us feel comfortable sharing our fears and concerns. With no pressure to do anything perfect, I just learned how the water works, how to move, and how to enjoy and have fun in the water. On the last day, I “swam” across the pool in the deep end, with no hurry, and no panic. At 71 years of age, I was ready to overcome my fear, and Miracle Swimming helped me figure out how to be safe and feel comfortable in water.

After years of taking traditional swim lessons, I am so pleased with the progress made during the five-day Essentials Level 1 course with Miracle Swimming School for Adults. Teresa, our instructor, was patient and extremely helpful as I worked through some fears and anxieties related to swimming, specifically being in the deep end of the pool. Although I am not where I ultimately want to be, which is 100% fear-free in the deep end, I am much closer than I’ve ever been. In fact, I am planning to continue my learning process by taking Essentials Level 2 next year.

The Essentials 1 Course was the most important step towards self care I have taken, perhaps ever! I had serious trepidation and doubt. Not only did I learn how to be comfortable and safe in water, I learned the joy of play! The experience was life changing. Quality, confident instruction. Surrounded by like minded people. The pace prescriptive to each swimmer. Thank you, Melon, for founding this novel school.

I just completed Essentials 2, becoming calm in water above your head. I can confidently say that I went from a person who was very afraid of being in deep water to one who understands what it is like to be in control of my fears and who can comfortably stay calm in water above my head. The course was very effective, well taught and well paced. I felt completely safe at all times, and learned new skills throughout the course. It is amazing to me how much I learned in just a week, and I am signing up for the next class in the series. A big thank you to Melon Dash and her team at Miracle Swimming school for adults. Well worth the investment in myself to overcome what was for me a lifelong fear of water.

After a lifetime of avoiding pools and oceans, I decided that this year I would face my fear of water and learn to swim. I could not have dreamt of a better partner in that quest than Miracle Swimming! The method is simple--but not easy. It required me to UNLEARN all that I believed/thought I knew about my body and swimming. And DO NOTHING except be calm and comfortable in the water. In my first course, the release and transformation happened. There's a reason why it's called MIRACLE Swimming. Mission accomplished!

I highly recommend for any and everyone who has even the slightest discomfort in water. The structure of the entire program is executed in such a way that results are inevitable and it meets each individual swimmer exactly where they are. Every instructor is genuinely invested in your success and getting to know you as a person to help you reach your goals and potential. We’re all born swimmers and Miracle Swimming helps your realize and come to believe it, resulting in ease, comfort, and joy in the water.

The March 2023 Essentials I course in Atlanta was simply AWESOME! The beautiful concept of practicing being present, calm, and remaining in control in water vs practicing a skill is priceless!! Your childlike curiosity will naturally spur you on to trying the next FUN skill - but only if it sounds like fun. Both the instructor(s) and spotters are amazingly patient and loving. It brought out the little girl in me, eager to trust and to learn the next fun thing. If you've taken lesson after lesson and are still afraid in water, shallow or deep, Essentials I is definitely the class for you. Come join us!

Melon is the water whisper...she had us doing things we had never done. Personally, within hours I was unafraid to walk through the water with the water up to my chin (I'm a shorty). As I realized, staying in my first circle was the key...I now know I can apply this to all areas of my life. This was so much more than learning the essentials of water play. Thanks to Miracle Swimming I'm playing toward freedom.

Like so many other adults, my relationship with the water was ruined by the traumatic experiences of my youth. What Melon has created with Miracle Swimming is a way for adults to rebuild this relationship and replace their fear with understanding and mindfulness. There are countless swimming instructors out there, but they can't guide you on a path to being comfortable in the water. Miracle Swimming can. It did for me. After taking the Essentials I class, I'm now swimming at my local gym three times a week. I have a long way to go before I become the kind of swimmer I want to be, but I'm finally doing it thanks to Miracle Swimming!

This was a life changing class for me. I think you have to first ask yourself how badly do u want to be free in water. Not nervous but your true self in water,? In deep water? I wanted it badly. I took lesson 2x in my life. Both unsuccessful. I almost gave up hope. I stumbled across melons website and her way of teaching was so different but made so much sense. She focuses on adults w fear and everyone has some degree of fear of water if they can't swim. I order her book (highly recommend to jump start your journey or eve for a skeptic)

I made the jump to book her class. I was a bit nervous. But as I read more from her website. Her book looking at YouTube video I felt like I stumbled across a gem. I could barely wait to go in person. And it was so beneficial. They will not make you do anything you don't want to do. They insist on you not making yourself uncomfortable. You learn to stay in your comfort zone. And when you do that crazy idea you actually learn best when your the most comfortable. There's in water session and dry land what I call " group therapy" talk. I

There are so many pros. Learning vacation. A vacation in a beautiful area. Warm clean pools- at the Palm Bay club. Kind instructors. New found skill. More confidence. Fun! Our class was laughing in water!

Cons are if you not ready to commit the price...it can be worrisome but I found it a true value. But view it as an investment. Read over her website or better yet read the book. Read the other reviews and see that it's not just a few who found this helpful. Several several ppl see that Miracle swimming has found the right way to teach swimming.

Miracle swimming approaches adult swimming coaching very differently. While most other 'adult coaching' programs ignore the psychological barrier that adult non-swimmers face, Miracle Swimming focuses on the psychology.
As an adult whose brain has never processed a situation in which my feet are not planted on something (ground, floor of the car, table, whatever), whenever I was in the deep end, I reflexively tried to 'stand'. The moment I felt nothing under my feet, I panicked. This was the source of my problem in the deep end.
By acclimatizing myself to this new situation (with the use of tethers), I was able to go from someone who was afraid of the deep end to someone who jumped right in and swam all the way to end shallow end on the 5th and last day of the program ;)

My experience was life changing. Each step was accomplished with no pressure or expectations. It’s a method of learning that I never experienced before. Learning to swim by first overcoming fear of deep water is absolutely essential. Why would an instructor start someone with a freestyle stroke if the student doesn’t understand his bouyancy in the water, or how to be safe at all times? This course is the gold standard for non-swimmers to become swimmers. After this essentials course, your future will only be limited by your own physical limitations. Swim laps for exercise? Go for it! High dive? Go for it! Jump off a boat? No fear! A large percent of adults are uncomfortable in or afraid of deep water. If you break that group down, perhaps some have made a conscious personal decision that they will not swim. Others feel the frustration of what they might have missed and will continue to miss. I’d encourage both groups to give this a try. It’s worth it at twice the price. At least buy Melon’s book or DVD to understand the concept. It was an exhilirating week in Sarasota. Next summer is going to be a blast!

I completed the Beginners class on September 25, 2021. To say it was transformative is an understatement. I have been trying to conquer my fear of deep water for over 15 years. I conquered my fear of deep water in one week with the help of Melon, Teresa and the Miracle Swimming curriculum.
If you are reading this review and think that Miracle Swimming can't help you, you are wrong. Melon has designed a program that will work for you. The curriculum is designed to meet you where you are in terms of your ability and put you on the road to where you want to go. For me that is the deep end of the pool, hanging out with my family.

I had been afraid of water all my life, in spite of (or because of?) school swimming lessons. As an adult I badly wanted to learn to swim and always felt like I was the only one who couldn't. But I was scared of going to swimming lessons because I thought I would have to do something I was afraid to do. At the same time I refused to give up and so a few years ago I set out to look for someone who could help me. It was then that I found Melon on the internet. I couldn't take the courses at the time because I lived in Europe, but when the pandemic came and Melon offered an online course I jumped at the chance. Through that and her book I was able to take the first steps on my own in feeling comfortable in the water. But I knew that I wanted and needed more so I was able to recently fly over and take the in person class. Yesterday I swam out in the ocean in deep water. This is truly miraculous because at no time during the learning process was I afraid; there was no reason to be. Melon's system is absolutely unique and never fails! There are no words to describe how grateful, excited and amazed I am; it has changed my life! In my opinion these courses are not only worth their money, they are worth so much more.Their value is inestimable! The price of not being safe in deep water is much much higher!

I took many swim classes at my local Y, but never learnt how to "swim", meaning I was never comfortable in deep water despite being able to move from one end of the pool to another. I usually ran out of breath in 1 or 2 laps because I was often "out of my body" and was told to practice more to cure that. Last year, I chanced upon Miracle Swimming on Google after years of frustration and decided to give swimming one last chance. I bought Melon's book and started from ground zero in order to unlearn my old habits and beliefs in water. It was a miracle; each chapter opened my eyes and the content was just what I needed. I took the Next Steps class in Sarasota, FL and it was even more transformational. My teacher, Sharon, was unbelievably patient in drilling into me the core lessons of staying calm ("1st circle"), starting slowly, listening to my body to learn what feels right in water, and consciously feeling my way through every action I took in the water. I still have some way to go until total freedom in water, but I know I have finally stumbled upon the right way to learn how to swim. Melon's lessons are applicable even beyond swimming.

I had a good feeling Melon's swimming experience would be just what I needed to finally feel in control in the water and I was right! The psychology is true and effective, once you focus on only doing what feels comfortable and right in your body, your body naturally will do the rest and moving through and in the water will come organically. Sometimes I would get stuck and stop progressing but as soon as we would switch to fun games, all the sudden I would start swimming and floating and jumping in the water without thinking about it. I know 100% now that I will automatically be able to swim safely and do whatever I want in the water from now on. These lessons of listening to your body and stick with what you feel in the moment to allow your mind to expand carries over to all areas in life! Thank you Melon! I’d been taking swimming classes for years without progress when I came across Miracle Swimming. I couldn’t take their classes because I don’t live in the U.S, but I jumped at the chance to take the online version during the confinement. It’s amazing - nothing short of a miracle - the transformation you go through. I can finally swim in shallow water by myself and have become comfortable doing exercises in deep water with my instructor - without any floatation aids! I’m on my way to learning to swim in deep water. I’d been blocked for five years and Melon helped me unblock in less than two months - without even personally being there! If you love water and want to get over the fear that keeps you from enjoying it, I couldn’t recommend more taking Miracle Swimming online classes, especially if distance keeps you from taking one in person.
