WELCOME TO THE OVIEDO YMCA
We’re committed to improving the lives of all of our members throughout Seminole County and Central Florida! As a leading non-profit organization, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone has a place to learn, grow, and thrive. Our family center is located on Red Bug Lake Road next to the AdventHealth Centra Care (Oviedo) office, and around the corner from the Oviedo Mall. We’re an essential part of the community to some members, whether it’s children in our Youth Sports program, families getting fresh produce at our weekly Farmer’s Market, or seniors staying active in the Silver Sneakers program.

I highly don’t recommend the adult swimming lessons. It seems like any YMCA in Orlando is just terrible. The instructor was just very nonchalant and even though he did demonstrate how to do the swim technique like freestyle. The other people in the group really did not understand and I don’t know why he didn’t just teach them certain drills. The main reasons why I am actually not a big fan of this pool is because the chlorine messed up my eye for like a week. One of the people in my group was kicking so hard like they really just did not know how to kick properly in the water. There was so much splashing to where it got into my eye. I do wear contacts, however I’ve swam with my contacts before and I never have a problem and I always wear goggles, but the fact that I was literally out of the water (I was standing up) and the droplets got into my eye. To just a few hours later, I’m getting so much irritation. Next thing you know my eye is just so red. Both of my eyes are dilating a different times. Luckily the ophthalmologist said everything is good and my eye is back to normal. I really just don’t recommend this place at all for the instructors and just the pool itself. I also want to mention they are very unprofessional when it comes to their customers. The receptionist lady who’s at the front came to the pool and talked to the instructor and she blatantly out loud was talking about a situation with a customer and how they don’t want to deal with some mother anymore and just saying that they’re not going to accept her phone calls or in general, they just had a lot of issues and I just think that’s extremely unprofessional to talk about that in front of so many people and children. That conversation could’ve been said on your lunch break, when you are clocking out or send that in the group chat.

Disappointed in the YMCA for closing the Blanchard facility. Now no where for people on this side of town to go without having to drive way out of our way. Them showing no loyalty to us makes me want to show no loyalty to them either. We can get a gym membership ANYWHERE and cheaper too.

It's sad to see the slow deterioration of the care for the facility as I've been a member since it opened as the Crosby Wellness Center. Shower handles remain broken, shower drains remain clogged, towels and soap are ofter empty. TV's don't work any longer. The equipment needs updating, particularly the treadmills and elliptical. Management nd staff used to be friendly and ever present, not so much anymore.

Most amazing instructors and classes I’ve experienced at any YMCA. Words can’t describe how amazing the YMCA is. Been a member of the Y for 20 years and this Y for 12 years. Top notch experienced instructors in Yoga, Les Mills, step class, strength training, Zumba and Y-fit. Truly a place to brag about! Some instructors have worked here more than 20 years. Dont underestimate any of them. They will challenge you.

Great place for all ages. Love the classes at the YMCA, the groups are friendly, welcoming and very supportive. The instructors really know how to motivate you and there is such a wide variety of choices that are always available. This does not include the 25m pool and the kiddie day care that is also available. When I compare this to the other options out there, the choice is clear.

This ymca is clean and family friendly. We love going there and it’s usually not too busy. My only complaint so far is that they increased our membership price with zero notice and just charged that new price to our credit card on file, again with zero communication.

Unable to attend the Silver Sneakers classes because all the chairs were saved. Didn’t see people sitting in the chairs. Just personal items on the chairs. Not sure how early I am supposed to be there to save a chair for myself. There’s got to be a better system to make the classes available to everyone.

A gym with heavy weights and amazing childcare staff? What more could a family need? We love our people in child development and the community we’ve grown here. They always have fun activities for the babies and get them moving, playing, and learning. Ms. K does an awesome job. If it wasn't for the Oviedo YMCA, I wouldn't have lost 20 pounds and dropped my Blood Pressure by 35 points so if you want to live longer, here is my tip, spend 20 minutes swimming in the pool and 25 minutes in the sauna, 4 days a week and before you know it, people will becoming up to you and say to you, OMG!!! Your getting younger!!!

I just wanted to share my experience with the Oviedo YMCA.
A friend and I went there and got day passes so we could check everything out before signing up. We really wanted to go here because of the childcare they offer while you workout. We weren’t really greeted by anyone and when the girl at the desk asked for help the manager (I think) was texting and not assisting her at all.
We take our boys in - 13 months and 10 months. We drop them off and leave the daycare area and just watch them for a minute to make sure they were okay. We also explained this was our first time leaving our babies with anyone besides our parents so we were a little nervous.
We do our tour and about 20-25 minutes later we come back and just look through the windows again (the whole area is basically a glass box). One of the workers noticed me mouthed “go!” And pointed to her right telling us to leave.
We also noticed a small toddler crying from the time we dropped them off, to the time we came back and no one was paying attention to him. At least that’s what we saw the two times we were actually inside and the two times we just looked in on our sons.
After picking the boys up, my son had something in his mouth I had to fish out before we left. I stopped by the desk to share what happened and I was shaking. Partly because of the anxiety of having to complain and partly because of how awful the entire experience was.
A manager (at least I think she was. She had her own office to the right and more professional attire) overheard me talking to the girl at the counter and just stood there and looked at me.
No apology. Nothing. Just “I’ll talk to her” by the younger girl at the desk and that was it. Which I don’t have any problem with. She’s a kid. This wasn’t her issue to handle. My problem is the manager (?) overseeing this conversation with absolutely no concern.
We went to pick the kids up and the one positive aspect of this experience was the guy at the counter in the daycare center, and the girl working the front desk.
It’s unbelievable how neglectful the staff was, and how uncaring the supervisors / managers were.
If you want your kids to actually be watched and kept safe - find somewhere else.

I can’t say enough good things about this location. I love that they have a daycare so I can get a workout in, the women’s locker room is amazing and the showers have AMAZING water pressure, and the classes are great too! We signed my daughters ages 7 & 10 for the winter camp and previously some days for summer camp. They truly enjoyed their time at the Y. The staff are always friendly. Both girls come home with some sort of project they worked on during the day. In the summer they were able to swim but didn’t have to if they didn’t want to. Sign up was easy and they are very good with communication. The price was reasonable to other camps but they don’t go places for field trips. Overall it’s a great camp option.

Having returned to this particular YMCA, I am finding the atmosphere of the front desk personnel to be friendly upon entering the facility. Even though I am a Silver Sneaker Member, I find it fulfilling in meeting my fitness health goals with working on the Exercise Machines Floor. There I can increase my weights of the machines which challenge my left side of my body, having been born with Cerebral Palsy in the 1950s. Beth, who is on this exercise floor, is very friendly and encourages the members with her warm smiles and hellos. There I can other members are equally friendly with a hello and simple greeting with a smile. This is a fine way to encourage each other for each work out session. I had started at the Winter Park YMCA in 1985, when now my late husband and I had to key in a code to be on the weight floor. Then when this YMCA opened we transitioned over to this one. I then would go after my teaching day 3x a week. At that time, I had various trainers through the years, 30 minutes with them, 30 minutes on my own. Then upon retirement, I would come during the day. In; Dec. of 2017, I had to stop medically, then had to stop due to surgery recovery and then COVID. Shutdown. Then began solely working out at home. Now, since the end. of the month of June, I am back at this YMCA, reacquainted with members of the past, meeting new members to me, as well as, a new set up on the exercise machine floor and feeling invigorated intrinsically to exceed my expectations, because viewing me now with the colorful leg brace to sustain my balance, a few people are amazed at my abilities since I’m not frail or overly shy. And others proud of the extent to which I challenge myself to exceed my goals on the weighted machines. I wish the Silver Sneakers program would allow Seniors to take exercise classes as before, included in this program. I used to so enjoy The R.I.P.P.E.D. Class, after working out upstairs.

A fantastic family friendly and body positive place for ALL. It isn’t like other “gyms” as you feel warmly welcomed and supported with your health journey and super fun activities for the kiddos….so many that it’s hard to choose which one. Have have been to almost every gym in Orlando (wish I was kidding) and this YMCA location is amazing. I joined because I was in need of their childcare and with the membership they give a massive discount on swim lessons. I take a lot of the classes and I am a huge huge fan they are amazing and hold me accountable to actually go to the gym. The upstairs area is awesome. So much to do and so much space. There is a mix of all types of people young and old. Best part? It’s very affordable. I highly highly recommend joining this gym.

Now that I have two memberships and have been to both gyms multiple times, this gym is always going to be the safest option for a gym. The equipment is reliable and doesn't break often, the atmosphere is amazing, the staff is amazing, the sauna, pool, classes, training, and cardio are all also great. The only complaint I still have is that it is too small to fit the amount of people who go, so i would recommend going early in the morning or later at night to avoid the huge crowds.

Oviedo YMCA is a perfect family center for parents with young kids.
Signing up for the monthly family membership has been the best investment for our family.
Highlights:
2 hour of free daycare
1 daycare room for babies and toddlers
1 daycare room for school age kids
Daycare rooms are both clean and organized with very many hands on activities
Kids ages 8 and up are allowed too participate in light fitness classes with parents and use some fitness equipment such as the treadmill.
My son learned how to swim through the swim sessions offered here.
The swimming pool are mainly reserved or focused for aqua fitness and kids swim lessons. Rec time for family is limited to 1 or 2 of the three lanes. Adults who expect to hog a whole lane would likely complain in their reviews but for parents with young kids, rec time is a great time for my kids to practice their swimming skills and cool off during the hot days.

People at desk were very helpful. I find it offensive to charge extra fee for using pool. Pool is rally the only very useful equipment for senior citizens, and to pray upon this group is taking advantage, as SS is a fixed income and dosnt get a raise like 40 somethings. It should be included in base price. Us seniors still remember when and why the YMCA was started.

I love the classes and instructors. I love the facility. Locker rooms are clean. But the real issue comes if you are looking for somewhere to lap swim. They only have 3 lanes and for someone trying to come after work (who works normal 9-5 hours) it’s near impossible to get a lane. They offer a very small window of time (which has actually become even smaller) and you have to share it with swim lessons and rec swim.
I had to arrive right early before lap swimming began. Wait for swim team to end and immediately get in. If someone got there before you and it was a family they would take over the lanes and you couldn’t swim. Sometimes you could get a lane and share with someone else who was there lap swimming. One time I got there and I was lane sharing with a woman while a child was diving in and out of the lane for a toy and the life guard stopped us both and asked if we would mind if they divided the lane into 3. We both said we did mind. Hunter, the lifeguard, explained they make most of their money from swim lessons and we could swim at another YMCA. We both left upset.
It was honestly what made me cancel paying extra for lap swimming. It’s not even worth it and it’s kind of unfortunate because I see the gym in a negative light because of how they handled it.
Lap swimmers are not a priority. If you are looking for somewhere, Oviedo Aquatic Center offers seasonal passes that aren’t too badly priced and they have more lanes and wayyy more hours of availability. You do have to be outside in the sun though.

Come in to swim and shower afterwards just for the pool to be closed. Go ahead to just grab a shower since we're about to be going out to eat and are an hour away from home and dirty from being outside beforehand. Staff didn't mention anything about them about to be closing before when we checked in and they took their sweet time getting a waiver for me to sign. They ended up closing while we are all in the shower. My daughter and I, an eight months pregnant lady trying to get done in the shower, got harassed by employees banging on the door saying they would call the police exact two minutes after they closed. We were treated like complete garbage. I rushed as fast as I could trying to rinse soap off. One minute later, back to banging were closed you gotta leave. I'm standing in the water saying we're trying to rinse off and get dressed? Trying as fast as I could. One minute later two people banging screaming gotta get out and leave and they are calling the cops? Thank goodness I had started recording. Im Getting dry and dressed and security cops now here at the door. Fiancé gotta go talk to the police to let them know we're trying to get dressed since the police are ready to drag me and my daughter out naked even though trying my damnest to get out as fast as I physically could. All this happened within seven minutes of them closing and ninteen from me checking in. Would never come back here. $100 a month to get treated this way is completely unacceptable. It was our first time to this location which apparently closes at only 6pm! We could have at least been told at the door they closed so early! Fiancé didn't even have time to shower. Just go go go as fast as you can to get out still not being fast enough for them. I've never been treated like that, and nobody else should either.

I have a very specific gym routine and it’s hard to stay consistent when the machines are constantly broken and the facility refuses to fix them. They would rather leaves signs on the machine “apologizing” for them not working, Over 5 machines have been broken for THREE (3) months!!!!!!!! They say they will fix it asap but this is a lie. They will never fix them.
I talked to the front desk to put in a complaint and it fell on deaf ears. Don’t come here if you actually want to work out because they don’t fix broken machines. You’re paying for nothing.
UPDATE : even after the response from the YMCA saying they will pass it along to their team, NOTHING has been done, and the machines are still broken. People are complaining and very dissatisfied with their membership. This gym is doing nothing. Do not sign up. I am canceling my membership and moving to Esporta. They have similar pricing and they offer a lot more equipment. And all of their machines actually work.

What a great place to exercise! Clean Clean Clean!
Summary: Ive experienced spa memberships with various levels of quality. From luxury spas in Atlanta (somewhat comparable to RDV) to Golds Gym. I enjoy taking my time to use the equipment, relax in the sauna, maybe swim a few laps and finish in a clean and well kept locker room. This is so worth the money!
Equipment: A great variety and amount to not have to wait for a machines
Classes: Instructors are energetic and positive! Yayy!
Locker Rooms: Lots of roomy and clean lockers, doors for personal showers, sauna is ready and hot. Clean space for sure!
Hours of Operation: The hours may be challenging for some peoples schedules but I wanted to move my workout from 8pm to 8am. So it works for me.
Price: I opted for max membership. I like that I can go to ANY YMCA. $55

I love the YMCA for my family! I love that the max membership provides so much opportunity for my hubby and 7 children to diversify our lifestyle. We frequent the Oviedo, J Douglas, Winter Park, and now Avalon YMCA for sports and aquatics. Been so helpful with so many rainy days this year...we just pack the family up in the van and go for it. Thank you CFL YMCA!

The Oviedo Ymca is one of the best facilities in Central Florida. They care about our children’s well being and make sure every moment is fun and exciting. The people at the front will always greet with a smile on their face even early in the morning. 100% recommend.

Poor Management. Swimming classes canceled at last minute without notice. Even instructor was not inform about changes at last minute. They don't show respect about the time lost driving to facilities.

Hours are terrible. We started going to the Oviedo Y in 2004 and it took out its basketball court, pool table and ping pong table and cut its hours. I used to go on weekends after my kids soccer and baseball games but can no longer get there in time. Even if I can go before 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday, the pool is closed. I go to planet Fitness now. Once all my kids turn 13 we're all going to Planet Fitness and cancellng the Oviedo Y.

The front desk staff are great and the place is always clean.
My one star is is directly towards the swim classes. We started over a year ago with group lessons. There are a lot of kids to 1 teacher, and a lot of kids that require more attention, so one child will only get a few mins of actual swim instruction. After a few months, and talking to the Swim coordinator we switched to semi-private lessons, where the 30mins were split with a friend. The swim coordinator left, and a new one came on, and there seemed to be a lot of confusion and change in instructors. We continued on. A lot of lessons were canceled and rescheduled due to lightning in the area - if the sun is out but there is lightning somewhere around they must cancel lessons, because their pump is outside or something. During the next round of semi-private lessons, the next swim coordinator left, we had new instructors and again seemed like no one knew what was going on. No one could tell us who to reach out to with questions. The ymca back in the day used to give out monthly sheets telling us where the students were at - apparently they don't do that anymore - or you just don't get that benefit with semi-private lessons. Finally found out there was a new swim director in charge. Told her my concerns, she said she would come and watch the kids next lesson and provide feedback. Saw her but she never came over or said a word. Our semi-private lessons have come to an end and we have decided not to continue on here. I am not sure where my kids are at, but they can not swim unassisted after a year plus of lessons. No one even talked to us about if we wanted to continue on or anything. I would not recommend the swim lessons.

I have very mixed feelings towards this gym. Staff is kind, and the facilities are very clean and modern. However, the hours and the membership are kind of ridiculous. Open til 7pm on Fridays, 3pm on Saturdays, and 2pm on Sundays... that seems insane. I get off of work at 5pm on Friday. After going home, grabbing gym clothes, and driving to the Y I have less than an hour to workout. If they extended their hours on Friday to a later time it would really change my perspective on this gym. Also, you have to pay extra to use the pool? I have a fit & active membership so I'm paying $28 a month, and for some reason that only gets me the basic plan, which does not include pool access. At the Y I was at previously, there were no membership tiers, you paid for one membership & got access to everything. Also, a towel service would be nice.

We’ve been members at this Y for years. Generally it’s a fantastic faculty with good equipment and a friendly staff.
My main complaint is that, during the pandemic, they drastically cut back on childcare hours, especially on the weekends. Currently there’s no availability for Sundays and only a few hours on Saturday. As a parent with a busy work week, I try to workout as much as possible on Sundays. To combat this we’ve been driving to Dr. Phillips, which is almost one hour each way. I just wish the childcare hours were the same 7 days/week.

So glad I'm an official member once again. I've been doing my best at trying most classes. I'm blessed to have found a fantastic personal trainer Sarah. Hopefully another month with her. TY to my YMCA family.

I enjoy this gym as a family of 4 but I will say the kids center is always severely understaffed. I have seen first hand multiple times when they will have upwards of 10+ kids in there with 1 staff member. The girls in there always seem very stressed out and I worry that my kid isn’t being watched at all because there’s too much going on

We had the family plan many years ago and we all used to go there about three times a week. Then, a little before the pandemic we canceled our subscription and haven't go to any other gym for many reasons. We decided to go back there in the beginning of January and for our pleasant surprise a lot of things are much better, such as the plans and cancelation policy, many new equipment for workout, more instructors available, etc. We are happy back to YMCA.

Update: WAY more irritating than the hours are the kids that they allow on the workout equipment. Just sat and waited so long for a treadmill to open up while 2 little kids no older than about 7/8 messed about on 2 of the treadmills. Hopping back and forth between the two and going at a pace of .5. This happens quite frequently and it's making me really want to find a gym that doesn't allow children on the excercise equipment.
No complaints other than the hours!

I have been a member of this branch for 5 years or so (a member of ymca in other places where we lived for more than 13 years). This location is quite nice, super clean, equipment is well maintained, the receptionists are polite and friendly, the sauna is great, the group workouts are very good, and patrons/people are generally good.

As a long time member, I am loving the Oviedo Y! What a great sense of community. Equipment updates. Classes updated. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Whether you like to do your own thing, take a group class, work with a trainer there is a place for you. Or take advantage of all three like I do. If you got kiddos you can bring them too.

I like the friendly employees and its atmosphere. I realize that free weights are expensive; however, periodically free weight systems are constantly in demand. It's better for the staff & personal trainers (PCs) as well. Their interactions with members should include advertising their expertise. Helping others purse their achievements should be the epitome of a personal trainer's dream and a part of their repertoire. However, without the associated accommodation between both the personal trainer and the YMCA itself, it appears to leave a vacant space. I say that, to say this, none of the personal trainers have a business card, an advertisement to address the issues of each member's concerns with the exception of a one page bio posted on a whiteboard. That's not bad, but the YMCA could really do a better job of introducing what amenities they offer its members. Flat screen TVs illustrating these personal trainers throughout the YMCA would be a great improvement. One that would enhance the desired PCs enthusiasm while promoting more members via your website, guests, and its members. But, being a non-profit 501(c)(3) has its advantages and its disadvantages, depending on how you facilitate its marketing strategies. I have also wondered with all of these (PCs) why are there no supplemental dietary nutritional products offered to the members which could be affiliated by YMCA sponsors? I would add would there be a problem with seeking and including sponsors advertised on the shirts of YMCA's approved uniforms? To further add to this conversation, why not add compression tights to be included with your uniforms advertising an assortment of supplemental dietary nutritional products (e.g., protein shakes, etc.) that are sugar free * cholesterol free * lactose free * gluten free, BCAAs and other fat burning and other muscle building solutions? Of course, we all know there would be forms of non-disclosure forms releasing the YMCA of any liabilities associated to such. Nonetheless, it's just a suggestion to improve the associations, credibility, and its improvement added membership. It should also promote potential athletes and even increase the silver sneaker's membership. All things are possible but without suggestions and/or feedback we all lose. Thanks, and we love the YMCA.
