Why oh why I'm such a great location they made everything so lousy cheap?!!

NO SHELF FOR MY SHAMPOO/SOAP?! UNREAL!

So my initial reaction above i gave it a 1 star but u changed it to 3 because im grateful it exists at this nice location.

However I do have a few issues with it.

One hook in the shower?

No shelf in the shower to put your soaps/shampoos?

Weak water pressure when showering...

No privacy in the door really when you go to the toilet. Too much gap.

I recently restarted my fitness journey, and I’ll admit it can feel uncomfortable and even a bit intimidating, especially when walking into a gym. But this Planet Fitness location has truly made the experience enjoyable.

From the moment you step inside, the staff greets you with a warm smile and a friendly hello. The facility is consistently clean, and you can often see the staff actively cleaning throughout the day.

I never feel judged or stared at while I’m working out. The members are welcoming too, and many offer encouragement that helps keep me motivated. It really feels like I’ve found my gym home, and that sense of belonging gives me an extra boost to keep going on my journey.

I’m genuinely grateful to have found such a supportive and well-rounded gym.

Absolutely disgusting. I’ve been coming here for about a year (roughly 100 visits) and have never seen anyone actively clean the lockers, bathrooms, or showers—not once. A few weeks ago, someone tossed a used Q-tip into a locker. I decided to leave it and see what happened. It sat there for weeks, untouched—a perfect symbol of how filthy and neglected this place really is.

It honestly makes me wonder about the health risks, knowing these areas are breeding grounds for whatever people bring in. The showers? Straight-up ghetto: no shelves for your bag, one hook trying to do the job of five. If you value hygiene or basic standards, avoid this location.

I’ve been attending Planet Fitness for a year, and I can honestly say Kay is the hardest-working, most thorough, and friendliest team member I’ve met yet. Even though she’s a “new team member,” you’d never know it. She carries herself with professionalism and care well beyond her time here. Kay greets me every time I walk through the doors, and her energy sets the tone for a great workout. She has true GM potential, and I’m thankful for the positive impact she brings to the gym each day. Please be sure she knows how appreciated she is!!!

Love this gym. Great staff, friendly clients. Wanted to mention both arm ergometers are clicking, broken. Older folks use them daily for mobility. I think when they are being used as a resistance machine, instead, by some, they break. I had to stop using the one that has no sign on it, today, as it clicked, uncomfortably, every round. Thanks for your help with this. We really appreciate our staff and manager(s)!

I talked to one of the people at the desk about canceling my membership a couple weeks ago and they told me I needed to do it today. However, when I go in to planet fitness in Atlantic Beach I am told that I’m in the middle of a billing cycle even though my billing date is tomorrow that they’re gonna charge me another month which it’s not a huge deal but it’s the principal. This is absolutely the worst gym I have ever been to, and it is run by one of the worst people I’ve ever spoken with. I told this manager that they lied to me about the clause of going to other gyms and being unlimited, which is completely false. You can only go 10 times after that you have to join that gym or pay an additional fee, which is ridiculous. I told this manager that they lied to me and she tells me that I’m lying to them. I will never do business with planet fitness ever again because of Alexis Musikar at this gym.

Small rant warning!

My only gripe is the TVs playing news 24/7. Every single cardio machine in the entire gym faces the TVs, and Fox/CNN/NBC/CBS are on nearly all of them. I have seen graphic videos of public hangings, war, shootings, and other violence while trying to do my cardio. I get that some people are into that, but I don't think it's the majority. I always wear headphones and try to watch my phone, but the news is literally made to be eye-catching and it's right in front of your face. It doesn't make sense that PF is supposed to stand out for its inclusivity and positivity, yet 90% of the TVs are running this stuff. I won't let it stop me from working out here because otherwise the gym is great, but I would really like there to at least be a section of TVs that only play HGTV or Discovery Channel or something.

A strange man came out of no where repeatedly asking me to hang out, started the conversation out by telling me hey did you know you can’t walk down that way (pointing to the side of the building). He stood in front of my car. I firmly and politely as I could told him no repeatedly.

I felt uncomfortable then remembered a man was at the front counter when I left. Didn’t catch his name. I softly told him the situation and he exclaimed “he stalking you?! I’ll walk you out!” He told me he use to be a body guard and he watched me pull my car away. Didn’t see the man when I came back out but absolutely love that employees energy we love an ally.

Dude this is a sweet spot! Sooo many machines and an excellent variety of them that i dont see at other PFs. There are 2 levels of workout equipment and lots of natural lighting. The Black Card Spa was amazing to have frosted windows letting in the light instead of blasting ceiling lights like other PF locations. Best hydro beds in the area, they have great pressure and warmth.

At the hours I go, it is less crowded and the whole gym is mine! Most PF clubs have a nice selection of core equipment that focuses on abdominal areas. The AB club has cut back its hours especially on the weekends but if I want to workout and they're closed, I use the Jax Beach club, they've been very accommodating. Both clubs are great for a no nonsense workout facility and PF means what they say, it is a NO JUDGEMENT place. You can be physically a mess and find yourself in good company, no one cares. If you're overweight (or underweight), you owe it to yourself, yes, YOURSELF to visit PF and start a reformation of your body. It will not be an overnight effort but with patience and perseverance, you will see results. Your body took years to get into its current condition, at least allow some time to fix it. Try and make each visit fun if that's possible..LOL..You will not regret it When I traveled I could always find a PF nearby and some of them have the Red Light Therapy beds or booths which I've found very useful. Read up on the value of Infrared light exposure for your appearance and health..
Not all of your workouts will be epic, some will be disappointing but that's because you've let them get boring. You are reshaping your lifestyle with some daily attention for your body, some days you're have "writer's cramp" but you can make up for it the next session. Remember if you don't use it, you lose it and muscles and BONES must be USED otherwise they fade and break. Do you want to be a permanent fixture in a doctor's office?
The premium BLACK CARD membership for a few dollars more a month, gives you access to ALL PF's no matter where you are. I personally like the change in venues to keep workouts a more stimulating. PF gives you the biggest BANG for your gym dollar and with MacDonalds offering a new $15 hamburger (California), you should be able to see the value. Spend your money wisely!!

I enjoy the Atlantic Beach Planet Fitness. Management (Alexis) does a very good job keeping the facility clean and up to par. It would be nice if they played some upbeat country music, instead of alway splaying rap, techno, or the same old stuff. How about some playlists that include Zach Bryan, Luke Combs, Tyler Childers, Lainey Wilson, Morgan Wallen, Bailey Zimmerman, and such. I'm sure most of us NorthEast, Floridians would love it. I canceled my membership with this company over a year ago called in to speak with someone about being charged unauthorized and the store manager said I don’t have a record of your cancellation and that I wasn’t charged unauthorized and I told him it was canceled and asked him to provide me with the last day I visited and he said 3/1/2023 over a year ago so when I asked for him to provide me with a refund he totally refused and I asked for his manager information “Terrance” was all he provided so for an entire year I have been charged unauthorized charge of $27.22. and Jay said I would not be getting a refund. I feel like Jay did not try to find a solution to this situation and I don’t think I should be charged for something that was canceled over a year ago. I felt like Jay handled this situation very unprofessional.

They're recently trending toward patrons occupying the limited smith machines (4) with a plethora of gear all at one time. I'm watching one now with curl bar, inflated ball, mat, dumbbells, bands), doing floor exercises, situps, etc, tying up the gear from other's use and blocking the rack for long periods. Discussed with staff. No assistance. Been a black card member for years. Finally reached my limit. Very nearby gym 33 cents more a day and has pool/spa and classes.

I joined through USAA's health benefits, and there is so much that they offer on top of the regular gym equipment. With a black card membership, you also get to use tanning beds, red light therapy, massage chairs, and hydro massage. They have many machines and exercise equipment with enough duplicates that I have never had to wait for one that I wanted. I love their second floor, which gives a more personal session.

Jade Wine and Jay Guzman are incompetent humans of society. They repetitively spoke over me and would redirect my questions when I asked about cancelling a membership. We also needed a manager but Jay (the manager) was working out in the gym and to busy to assist with membership issues, so his demeanor was very aggressive and rude. I didn’t know that working out was a priority over customer help… I would highly suggest using a different gym! I don’t appreciate the hostile environment.

I wouldn’t even give this gym 1 star. I started my membership back February 15th, my partner and I went to work out a total of 4 times within a week. I unfortunately was laid off my job February 28th and I called to cancel my membership. Well, for some reason my membership was never canceled so I asked them again to cancel it. They tried to charge me 153.88. I did not mind to pay for the month, but they were trying to charge me a membership fee. I was there less than a month, so I tried to speak with the manager on the matter, he was very unprofessional and has zero customer service. This gym is a scam and I would never go to another planet fitness. Here I am two months later and they are still trying to charge my account. I have never dealt with such an incompetent company.

So far I'm very pleased with the Atlantic Beach PF. It's closed to work, it has everything I need, the staff are courteous and friendly. It's also much cleaner then my neighborhood PF. I'm a neat freak so I really appreciate that. The fact that it doesn't close is great because usually I can't get there till late hours, and I'm there at least 2 hour +, due the fact that I know also use it for practicing martial arts as well. Keep up the good work. I most certainly recommend this gym to all.

Wow…SO happy that I joined Planet Fitness on Atlantic Blvd!  I decided to get serious about getting more fit & Planet Fitness has certainly been helping me.  It’s a great facility with lots of equipment& several group training sessions.  The entire team has been very helpful.  I worked with James to develop an exercise plan and targets.  I hadn’t used equipment in several years & James made sure that my form was solid on all of the equipment in my exercise plan.  I just achieved all of my goals for my 1st 2 month plan & we’re working on the next 2 months.  James is very knowledgeable and developed a plan to support torn meniscus in both of my knees.  He also leads great Stretch sessions.  I’ve had noticeable improvement in my flexibility.  I recently tried Andrew’s shoulder stretch & back/hip stretch sessions...both great.  Everyone behind the front desk has been helpful. Miranda went above & beyond to help out and answer questions.    Grant, the General Manager, has also been helpful with questions.  It’s easy to see that his team is happy working under his leadership & training.

I like planet fitness clubs as their weight machines and facilities are usually clean and in good working condition. I like how their stations are lined up so you can hit most muscle groups and get a decent overall workout without having to hunt down the right machine. I stretch or warmup upstairs then usually beeline to the 30 min area esp if I'm limited on time. Showers are usually clean and have decent water pressure. Bring your own toiletries. On a side note I don't remember the last time the Lunk Alarm went off even with more Lunks lurking about dropping weights and grunting than in years past.

Nice staff. Please put hooks in the tanning rooms. I hate that there is nowhere to put your clothes. Also, who’s idea was it to remove the trash cans out of each tanning room. And have 1 in the main area of the tanning and massage area. There is always trash on the floor or tanning wrappers on the floor. Put the cans back. People will use them. Thanks!
