This review needs to be zero stars!!! I cancelled my Membership *IN PERSON* per their BS in person cancellation policy in June. JUNE 2025. Paid the balance due and was done- until November where they have fraudulently charged my card on 5 separate occasions. $41.80 has been charged weekly for the past 3 weeks and an additional $26 charged twice. I’ve called and spoken to multiple people who offer absolutely no help and can’t / won’t explain- There is no way to remove bank or card information from account- no corporate customer service billing number - no GM or *higher ups* to speak to- so now I’m forced to close my own bank account while disputing the charges. This whole situation is outrageous and honestly their business practices are beyond deceitful and deceptive.

10/17/25 my bill is due , Clearwater PF is $15 every three weeks!! They never tell you about an annual fee ,and that the annual fee is not refundable!!

I've had nothing but problems.with my membership here. Yesterday I went to work out, and they tell me I canceled my membership, which i did not. I would know if I canceled my own membership..why would I have went to work out, if I canceled my membership? I JUST paid the $60 annual fee. Now they told me I had to rejoin, and they would need another $60 annual fee in 2 months? They are scammers! I'll never join another PF! This is a NASTY NASTY place! Amped and Crunch are $10 a month, and A LOT nicer!

Came into the gym to help my son sign up for a teen membership. I was told the monthly price was $16 and change. I'd also be charged $49 in a month or so for an annual fee. I was told those were the only charges. I was told my credit card number was required just for in-store purchases. We go home, complete the enrollment and my credit card is immediately charged $41.73. I think for sure my son did something wrong during sign-up. I go back in the very next day and show the charge to the front desk and I'm told it's a sign-up fee. Never was I told about this fee just the day before. Nothing they can do. Very frustrating. I never would have signed up.

I’ve been a longtime Black Card member at Planet Fitness in Pinellas Park, and overall I’ve appreciated the facility and the service over the years. Many of the staff members are great — professional, friendly, and consistent in making sure members feel welcome. The gym itself is generally clean and maintained well, and I mainly enjoy using the massage chairs, tanning, and similar amenities.

That said, I’ve also noticed a mixed level of customer service among the staff. Some go above and beyond, while others seem selective in how they treat people. For example, on more than one occasion I’ve been left waiting at the counter while a staff member prioritized taking out the trash, even though it was clear I was waiting to check in for a service. At times, I’ve also felt the process for using amenities like massage chairs or tanning was made unnecessarily difficult, despite being a Black Card member for many years — and even having encouraged my family to join in the past.

Another challenge is the atmosphere of the facility. The darker walls and low lighting make the space feel a bit dull and heavy, compared to other gyms in the area. Over time, I’ve joined a couple of other gyms as well — one with a pool, and another with better equipment and a brighter environment. Those features give me more variety and a more motivating workout setting.

In short, Planet Fitness Pinellas Park still offers good value and certain conveniences, but I do think the environment and consistency of customer service could be improved to make it a place where members feel truly welcomed and energized

Their AC hasn't been working properly for a while now. This is unacceptable especially in this FL heat and how humid it gets. It's to the point where there is literally mold growing on the ceiling. Specifically in the 30 min express workout area that my friend & I had noticed. Probably other places as well but the high ceiling is painted black so you can't see it if it is up there. Otherwise they have newer equipment and its kept pretty clean. Except the bathroom floors can be pretty slippery sometimes which is dangerous. Not sure what they're using on the floors for that to happen.
Please fix your AC & mold issues before people start getting sick.

** AC STILL not working in FL summer humidity. Unacceptable. I will be canceling since I can't even finish a workout here cause its too hot & humid INSIDE. If I wanted to workout in this climate Id do it outside**

I was approached by two staff members who informed me that I could not use the Planet Fitness bag I had just purchased in the gym. The bag contains essential workout items such as belts, gloves, and straps that I rely on during my exercises. When I offered to keep the bag off the floor to avoid creating a trip hazard, I was told it could damage the equipment instead.

The staff at this location are incredibly friendly! You can't enter or leave without being greeted with a smile or told to have a great day! My only complaint with this Planet Fitness is it's rather on the toasty side, so I wish the fans were turned up higher and the AC temp was a little lower. Otherwise, there are so many machines you shouldn't have a problem working out. The free weights section could be bigger, but honestly, no real complaints there either. Parking can occasionally be a hassle as the lot is shared with other businesses, but parking farther away only means you get more steps in walking to/from the door, and the lot has plenty of lighting. This location has a clean workout floor and clean bathrooms. I appreciate they have signs letting you know if a male/female is working in the female/male restrooms. Overall, I feel safe here and I highly recommend this location!

There are homeless people who sleep in their cars in the parking lot. The homeless women use the showers in the morning time and this is when working people need to use the showers. Yesterday the shower was filthy with litter, shampoo bottles, tampon applicator, conditioner (making it very slippery), chip bag and chips. It made me wonder if they were sleeping in the shower? Not a good look at all.

I have been going here off and on for years and come in the early early hours before the sun. The only issues I had in the past was occasionally the changing stalls or showers weren't the cleanest as someone may have left something behind but I know they aren't in there every 30min checking. I am okay with that though gross to leave your toothbrush or dental floss behind. I have health issues and use my own Lysol in the stalls and strong antibacterial wipes on the machines to avoid getting sick. I take my own responsibility for that. However, was freaked out after the first time I found someone sleeping on the benches by the lockers and what seems to be people using the lockers to store stuff and not working out in the gym plus the showers/stalls are turning into scary scenes. Example: The handicap stall had what looked to be tampons, chip bags, piles of what may be shampoo, and random other stuff on the floor. This is happening a lot more then it used to and getting disturbing. Debating looking for another gym now as I have to get my workout really early, shower, and then head to work for the day. I do not have the option of skipping the showers and changing at the gym.

****Update****

After coming back to this location after the mistake of trying another gym, I'm happy to report that things have only gotten better here at Planet Fitness. They're seemed to have expanded their machine line and updated all of their amenities. The massage chairs are top shelf, the hydro therapy tables are new and improved, and they've even added a guided meditation booth. It's definitely good to be back and I don't see myself making the mistake again of trying to cut corners. Lol

After posting my last review, Nick the GM reached out to me to discuss the details of my previous review. It was really nice to see that staff is engaged and active in it's reputation. Nick took the time to hear my concerns and promised to make the appropriate changes. Since our conversation, Nick has come through and the club has vastly improved and even exceeds the standards that Planet Fitness is known for. Hats off to Nick and his staff for operating a quality and exemplary location.

Attended gym on a free pass - wanted to check it out.
Great gym although 75% of the screens on the cardio machines not working (AGM said they were in the process of changing them, so 😊👌).
The 2 staff members who greeted me were great, 3rd staff member who I spoke with on way out (had every face piercing you could imagine, mustve been a sale somewhere) looked like she hated her job and not only couldn't be bothered to answer a question but couldn't be bothered to even acknowledge my existence when I asked and just stared right through me until the manager had to take over. With that type of personality, this individual does not belong in a customer service role let alone at the front desk, plenty of thing she could clean away from your paying customers instead. Something to think about

I had previously rated this club a five star because of their pleasant service and their pleasant selves. There's been a change in staff at this location and now it has turned to a different side.
Being here for over 6 months I have been harassed by two people at this location about my choice and workout shirt. I have worn the same type of shirt in every Health Club and have not been harassed like I have been at this club.
I hate to bring in pronouns and color but those are the only identification terms that I can come up with not be discriminative, Which I am not being in the industry that I work in, But I feel that I am being stared out while I am working out. Every move They are trying to see my nipples.
They approach me saying that they are going to ban me from the club for wearing a muscle shirt that shows my sides.
It's only shows nipple when I'm working out and you can only see it when I'm working out. I adjust my shirt when I'm not.
Therefore, if you see it, you are staring at me while I'm working out. If you're staring at me and being the only one saying anything about it, This is considered sexual harassment.
When I brought up when girls are wearing booty shorts and shorts that show camel toe and the silhouette of another area on their bottoms they have no comment but when a and I quote;
"But when a Non-suffolaphagus of a nipple of a straight male" shows you get upset?!

By them identifying this situation and no one else identifying it shows that they are staring at me while working out. This is sexual harassment. This is not a route that I want to go. I just want to work out as I do.

I think there is a possible bias toward my skin color and possibly my sexual identity/preference. There is a lot of tension with this in our society, not by me.
Hate to say that but if they say it why can't I?
I already spoke to planet fitness corporation saying that I do not want to be harassed by my choice of workout shirt and they claimed they were going to handle it but it doesn't seem that they have spoken to this franchise.
This franchise claims to be planet fitness but does not follow according to their policy because they are franchise. The assistant manager has bans me but not the general manager, who I signed up with when I signed up as my home gym.
I am a very courteous and consistent in my my part of maintaining the gym, this means I wiped down my equipment after use and I don't take over workout areas And also re-rack my weights.
I'm a black card member and utilize that for my spinal cord injury. This gym was a lifesaver so this situation is affecting my ability to maintain my physical therapy on my injury.
Planet fitness please help me. Resolve this situation with your staff.

I've belonged to this gym with both their basic and "black" membership and I was always pleased with the staff, equipment, atmosphere, cleanliness, and flexibility. I have belonged to other gyms where it was a meat market and very uncomfortable for a menopausal, overweight woman who had NO muscletone. Not here ! I am among people who just want to get healthier and are so busy with their workout that they don't look twice at anyone else.

I am a black club member and go to many planet fitness gyms around the St. Pete/ Largo area. This gym dictates so many things they shouldn’t, especially with people spending money to work out here. I wore my workout crocs, mind you they are thick and not just plain flat crocs, and I was told I can’t wear crocs at all. I mean I’ve never in my life been told I can’t wear certain shoes to a gym. Most gyms have weight lifters completely barefoot. The gym in St. Pete says nothing and does not care what people wear. It’s embarrassing to be told I can’t wear shoes that are brand new in front of all of the staff members? I’ve been a member with planet fitness on and off for many years, but I’m just uncomfortable with this situation. If people are paying money and are grown adults, they are fully aware of how their shoe choices can affect things. Crocs are literally designed for the purpose of workout gear, so idk. Really contemplating cancelling my membership at this point. I feel bad for the employees because that’s a really awkward situation to put them in, they weren’t rude about it, but it was really weird and uncomfortable.

Since my first review: a man came in locker room while I was in the shower the assistant manager gaslighted me telling me how I was the problem.
Today as I was preparing to shower a man and woman came out of a dressing room and got in the shower together. 😲 I don't come here often and I see this stuff every time??

so planet fitness is not the best..... there is no variety of machines when you walk in there seems to be a lot of like equipment and machines but they're all repeat machines and everything focuses on upper body and cardio and there's nothing for lower body or abs. tell me why there is literally probably 20 plus treadmills and 15 + ellipticals and multiples of the same muscle machines but there's no variety at all and they completely claim to be this accepting gym where they're trying to have these rules where it makes you more safe but all it is is just being judgmental and forcing you to wear certain clothes that won't quote unquote distract people and it's just kind of ridiculous lunk alarm that's really weird so I wouldn't recommend this gym at all just take the free pass.

Been member for over two years. I go to 4 PF in the area. Always liked this one until today. There was hardly anyone in the gym and no one at all by the free weights. I'm working out and I'm confronted by an employee who said the manager sent him over to enforce a no gym bag rule. Really! The manager sees me all the time, why today and especially now. I of course ablidge and we walk over to the lockers. He doesn't even know how they work and couldn't remember the 4 digit number, I did.....lmao! While the men's bathroom is nasty, and they stand behind the counter do nothing. The heavy set manager blurbs some bs while I'm walking out the door after I notified them.They need to be trained and for God sake start using some of the equipment and look the part at least. I don't have a problem following rules, but send a employee who's only been there 2 months to do the job you should have done over 2 years ago. Get that newbie trained properly and keep the friggin bathrooms cleaned.

I use my bag everywhere I go, I have my squatting belt, ankle straps, hand straps/grips, bands, wallet, keys, phone and water bottle in my bag. Today I walked in with my bag as usual and as I was walking out after finishing my work out, the gentleman up front (they were polite about it) told me its policy now I can’t carry my bag around with me, I have to put it away. I explained I need it and use it at every station I go to. They just said I’d need to carry that stuff around with me…. Planet Fitness owner/manager… how does that make sense?

This gym is always clean! The people at the front desk are super friendly and always greet you when you come in and as you leave they wish you a good day! Nice and cool with great natural light from the huge front windows!

Well, that's disappointing. One of the biggest reasons why I joined was because of your 30-minute circuit. You just recently removed it. That's so disappointing. As a former personal trainer and running coach, I can't tell you how important that area was. Your gym setup does not lend itself well for circuit training. I guess I'll have to find another gym.

I just finished my workout at this location since they got all new equipment. Wow, just Wow! All brand new state of the art equipment. So nice! . Everything just glided making my workout easier and enjoyable. Nice gym. I highly recommend joining.

I attend the Clearwater location and love it! I love the personalized training classes that Rich Starkey the personal trainer puts together. He is sincere and takes a lot of pride in training you how to have the correct form while doing the exercises to prevent injury. His style is gentle and he encourages you to push harder. I highly recommend his classes for anyone who wants to improve the quality of their workouts.

We’re to start Connor is absolutely amazing human being! A go getting highly intelligent young man! I have been going to the largo location for several months and will be switching to this location solely based on Connor moving to this location. It’s a little further but worth it. Love this guy!

This place is robbing me of my money. Planet fitness told me to go to this location to cancel. I live no where near here and they have been charging me since 2021 and I have not gone one time!!! I drive over an hour and a half today to go cancel, to deal with some rude teenager working the front desk who tells me I been cancelled since 2021 and they are not charging me. I proceed to show her the charges every single month since 10/2021, she then tells me they transferred me to another location but won’t tell me which one!!!! Said there is no manager on duty, no GM available, all I could get is the Regional Managers name is Judy but could not get her information. I need to cancel and would like reimbursement of my money. I need to hear from Jody or someone that can resurrect this situation. Beyond frustrated and tired of being robbed!!!!

**This location is open 24 hours Monday through Thursday, open 7a to 7p on weekends.
In town for business, and my hotel gym was closed for water damage.
Grateful for my Black Card membership! This location was convenient, clean, and friendly. All equipment was working and available, as it wasn't overcrowded. Members weren't hogging weights or stations, how refreshing!

Best gym in town! Cleanliness is always up to par and the staff is always eager to help. I had an encounter with the manager, Nicolas, and he was very knowledge and helpful and answered all my questions and doubts. Starting the gym can be intimidating but Planet Fitness has made it easy.
