I had tried a few Planet Fitness in the area and all of them were wildly mediocre. I was ready to give up entirely when I found this location. The new machines are amazing, the place is clean and the staff (especially Derek) are so friendly and helpful. From checking in to waving goodbye, he makes it feel like we are visiting a friend, and even cleans with a smile. This place is rarely crowded, open till 10pm and overall just a professional but casual environment.

Edited sept 15 2025 I have come back after a few years of not visiting the gym. It's nice to come back however I have noticed that there is a young crowd that come in in the evenings and I watched them get off a machine and NOT even bother heading to the cleaning stations to get the get the cleaning solution on a paper towel to wipe down the machines. I literally watched them and none of the machines they used they bothered wiping down. I dont believe this is safe for any of us.
Maybe they need to be reminded that this is something that MUST be done. . 🤷‍♀️

Everyone concentrates on themselves on their work out. The staff is quite friendly and are there to answer any questions you may have. They are basically open 24 hours a day except on week ends.
It is a clean facility. And they have an AWESOME massage bed for after your work out .
They also honor Silver Sneakers membership for which you dont have full access its mainly a basic membership but its still good if you're just looking to work out ... no access to massage bed. Although i was told by the staff that i can upgrade my snseakers membership to have full access including the massage bed ..

The staff at PF in Fort Myers are excellent!!! The most friendly and helpful!
Complaints : The hydro bed has been broken for weeks leaving only one which makes it difficult to accommodate everyone waiting. I never had to wait when they were both working. They said it will be down for quite awhile. This is unacceptable when I am paying for the black card membership.
Also the one machine that is for the calf’s has been broken for weeks. Why? I can understand that machines breakdown , but it shouldn’t take weeks or months to fix.

My experience has been good overall. It would be nice if there was a trainer available on the weekends. I can’t make it to the gym Monday-Friday with enough time to speak with anyone about how to use a lot of the equipment. Right now I’m just using the treadmill since that’s the only thing I know how to use.

I am a full time resident.
Planet Fitness on McGregor in Fort Myers has been my gym for over 3 years. The current manager Janelle is very nice and the crew she hired are so nice and accommodating. Special shout out to *Mason and Honor who I usually see in the Am on weekdays. Weekends Key is also very nice.
Only improvement would be if maintenance/ repair person would get to items to repair them quicker.

Good location with excellent and responsive staff. Exercise equipment is kept clean and in good working order. All ages and types work out here. Most overhead TVs work, but not all have sound that work with earbuds. That seems to be a thing with PF.

This is the best PF in town. Very clean. Not too busy. THEY HAVE A RECYCLING BIN!! lol I have the black card membership and I enjoy the total body enhancement machine. If something is broken it’s fixed in a couple of days. Very comfortable temperature. Dylan at the front desk is always extremely helpful. My membership with Planet Fitness, initially promising with the provision to pause membership for seasonal migration, took an unexpected turn this spring.

Engaging with a representative at the Old McGregor, FM location, I found myself immersed in discourse with a young man who spoke down to me regarding their new structure. In being schooled on their new policies, I learned that they rendered my pause option obsolete; even though I signed a prior contract. And, I must now be seen in person to cancel (rather than pause) my membership. The essence of customer-centric values seem to have now faded away in the wake of the corporate evolution of profit over customer service.

This divergence from foundational principles extends beyond the confines of my personal encounter. The decision to amend restroom policies, albeit well-intentioned, has cast a shadow over the sanctity of space and comfort for many of the women patrons.

As I reflect upon Planet Fitness, it is evident that adherence to core values is paramount. Corporations, as custodians of customer trust, must tread mindfully, for straying from the path of integrity can lead not only to the loss of individual patrons but also to the erosion of collective goodwill.

Being a gym rat and black card member, I go to the gym almost everyday! I see how things progress or not. The hot water has not worked for the past 28 days. Most Planet Fitness locations are like this - slow to make repairs to equipment or facilities. You do get what you pay for. I recommend bouncing around to the other surrounding planet fitness locations when you encounter issues. They will eventually make repairs, but it generally takes weeks for it to happen.

The Old McGregor location was the first PlanetFitness I joined moving to this area, and it has been renovated in the past 8 years. It's one of the cleanist locations that I've visited in SWFL; the machines are well-kept, I don't think I've ever seen an out of order sign. Everything works, there are enough stairmaster machines to go around, and I especially like that location is not overpopulated.

I have been trying to cancel a membership at this gym for about a month now. I have been in about 3 or 4 times to cancel and they just say Systems are down indefinitely. They wrote my name on a post it note and said they would take care of it. They didn’t offer any other solutions to this issue. I can’t cancel the membership in person or over any website. They continue to charge for membership though. I had to dispute the charges and put a tell my bank to no longer allow them to charge. Wasn’t a bad gym but there needs to be alternatives to issues like this.

A Disturbing Encounter with Unprofessional Staff - Steer Clear of Planet Fitness!

I recently had an extremely unpleasant experience at Planet Fitness that left me feeling disrespected and utterly appalled by the conduct of their staff. I cannot stress enough how appalled I am by the treatment I received at this gym, and I strongly advise anyone seeking a gym to avoid Planet Fitness at all costs.

On the morning of June 23rd, as I was diligently working out, I encountered a situation that highlighted the unprofessionalism prevalent at Planet Fitness. Being an individual who relies on a fitness app to guide my training, I discovered that the gym lacked the equipment I needed for a specific exercise. In an effort to find an alternative, I discreetly made a phone call to a friend who happens to be a fitness trainer, seeking advice on an alternative exercise. I spoke in a low, inside voice for approximately ten minutes, ensuring that I did not disturb or inconvenience anyone around me.

To my complete shock and dismay, an employee named Trish approached me in an aggressive and disrespectful manner. Instead of addressing the situation politely and professionally, she decided to loudly yell at me, demanding that I end my phone call. Astonished, I calmly explained to her that I was seeking assistance from a fitness trainer friend regarding an alternative exercise, and that I was not causing any disturbance. However, Trish responded with a barrage of insults, claiming that her 15-year-old child had better listening skills than I did. She continued to yell and embarrass me in front of everyone present in that section of the gym. This incident has left me deeply disrespected and humiliated, and I will never forget how poorly I was treated in a public setting.

As a direct result of this unacceptable encounter, I immediately deactivated my membership and made a firm decision to never set foot in that Planet Fitness branch again. I find it absolutely unacceptable that a gym that claims to promote a judgment-free zone would employ individuals like Trish, who not only lack basic professionalism but also possess an astounding inability to treat paying customers with even a shred of respect.

I implore anyone in search of a gym to look elsewhere. Planet Fitness has clearly demonstrated a lack of concern for the well-being of their members by allowing employees like Trish to create an environment that fosters humiliation and mistreatment. Save your time, money, and dignity by avoiding this establishment.

It is my sincere hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale to others, and I genuinely hope that Planet Fitness takes swift action to rectify the deplorable behavior exhibited by their employees. No individual should have to endure the kind of treatment I experienced at the hands of Trish.

I love this gym and I use to go all the time, since hurricane ian though I am pretty upset that you do not stay open 24/5 at all anymore. That’s why I signed up with this location, so I can go when I would like to. I hope to see that this location will start staying open overnight again. I can only go to other locations that stay open 24/5 10 times before I’m charged a fee for going somewhere other than this location, since I signed up here. This location is right by my house. The employees let a homeless guy come in and walk around talking to himself in the mirrors because “it’s a judgment free zone” and the “manager” is okay with it because they’re scared he might get combative if they tried to tell him to leave. I didn't know I was paying to have a homeless guy stand behind me talking and pointing at me while I’m working out. Call the cops if your that scared. What a joke.

It’s happened twice already. I’ve came to the gym at around 6 am and the employees haven’t opened the doors to the gym. Everybody was grouped up waiting for them to come open the doors. As well as they don’t even clean the bathrooms often. Dust and toilet paper everywhere. Before the hurricane, they had good employees and kept the gym clean everyday.
