this gym is okay. i like it because of the location, it’s never too busy and theres plenty of equipment.

i dislike it because the staff can be very inattentive and can be dismissive. it seems they only acknowledge people they’ve created a personal relationship with, otherwise you may be ignored. but i’m not at the gym to talk to staff so it’s not a huge problem for me.

it’s only a problem when i notice no one is being checked in, meaning anyone could be walking into the gym, like the many homeless drug users in the area. more than once i’ve stood in front of the desk for many minutes while staff was talking and laughing so that i could be checked in, just for one of the members to wave me off and continue the conversation.

the other day i saw someone working out in flip flops so the already loose dress code isn’t being enforced, which i’m sure is a liability issue for the gym, not the customer.

i only wish this location was 24/7 like the others.

I visited the Planet Fitness on Blanding Blvd in Jacksonville, FL on Wednesday evening, October 15th and had one of the worst gym experiences I’ve ever had. The employee working the front desk, a man with a red beard, was rude, condescending, and completely unprofessional.

My brother, who has been to this location before and spoke highly of it, and I came in to get day passes before committing to memberships. Instead of greeting or assisting us, the employee ignored us entirely, then walked away and held a several minute conversation about coffee with someone working out.

When I finally asked if he would be helping us with our day passes, his response was, “Here at Planet Fitness we practice patience,” which was dismissive and unnecessary. He then vaguely pointed out that passes are signed in on the iPad, offering no real help or courtesy. As someone who has trained at various gyms, including high end facilities like Alphaland in Houston, I’ve never seen such disregard for potential members or customer service.

Despite his attitude, we went ahead and worked out for an hour. He never came to assist us or follow up. This experience made it very clear that this Planet Fitness, and likely the brand as a whole, will not be getting my business.

This is not a 24 hour facility so check the hours. Each PF has different equipment and this one is pretty well stocked. Only complaints are the massage chairs, they need to be serviced, some of the treadmills need to be recalibrated, and the spin bikes need closed captioning enabled.

I was in on 6/18 @ around 5:23 pm. I worked out in peace, but as I was leaving, the GM and the trainer were in functional training with another member hanging like monkeys. My workout lasted approximately an hour, so this would’ve been around 6:30 pm. I’m only in town for a little longer and usually enjoy this gym. Not lately when the GM and trainer continue to make a spectacle (throwing weights, loud breathing, loud talking, improper use of equipment). My expectation is that they are professional. This does not look good for planet fitness and please believe me when I tell people NOT to go to this gym because of the ludicrous behavior. I considered taking a picture but did not as I couldn’t get my phone out fast enough.

Who in their right mind has showers that can’t be controlled . Extremely HOT and it feels like you’re still soapy afterwards. We’re in Florida. It’s hot outside plus hot after a workout to get in a shower that can’t be controlled . The gym itself is clean and Customer service is great . Have had memberships at 3 locations in Jax and OP. This location by far gave the WORST service. My first day at this gym was a horrible experience thanks to the ill equipped staff at the time. Walked in and tried to start a membership. They told me to sign up online so I did. Unfortunately the pf website decided to sign me up at some location across town instead of this specific location that I requested when I signed up. When I walked into the gym the next time to sign in the girl with the long black hair told me I was signed up at the wrong location & that I would need to call their customer service to change it because that I couldn’t work out that day until I done that. Since I already took my time to get dressed to work out and drive all the way up to the gym just to be told I couldn’t work out and for some reason that she could not do it herself I went ahead and stopped right there, stood right in front of her and called Customer Service while she gave me the most ridiculous look and stared at me the whole time. There were no other customers around at the time. I felt so uncomfortable that I sat down in the chair next to her, where she then proceeded to walk up closer to the counter and just stare at me with a mean face like she was mad that I did what she told me to do. After waiting on the phone with customer service, they fixed the issue and I was able to sign in. The woman gave me a disgusting face when I went to work out and when I went yo leave after I basically did her job. i’m not sure what’s wrong with your sign up website or your staff, but that needs to be fixed because we don’t have all day to keep telling you we want to go to one location, filling out forms online just for your website to glitch up and sign us up at some location in another city. then when we go to your Gym we are told to call your Customer Service another runaround game just to sign up! Never had this problem with any other PF! I kept my membership at this gym for over a year. I really had faith! Every time I went, which was only a handful of time the staff at the front counter stank so bad. Why? There are showers inside of the gym they work at! how can they stink so bad? On top of that, I’ve never been treated worse when paying for a gym membership. OP was a close second! Their staff had the nerve to ask me where I worked, and if we were hiring because they didn’t like their job, but they treated me like trash at that location the entire time I was there! I think normandy location is probably my fav so far. Good luck at this location tho. I think the best service I got at this location was the day I went to end my membership recently! Hated this gym. Wished I would have spent all that money in my home gym instead! It’s encouraged me to work on my at home gym from here on. Also why is there not more leg equipment? Actually I don’t think there was one leg machine in the gym! Insane compared to Bailey’s and others. Anyway it’s been fun well not actually but at least you got your honest review from a local familiar haha Have a good one!

Best run gym in Jacksonville area hands down. The manager, Garet, is fantastic & his staff is the best!! All friendly, all professional. I have a 23 year old son who is autistic, Garet and Levi friended him and they ALL make him feel so special. This is important for our son having a speech Impediment as well, ge understands just fine but he is not able to effectively communicate, which doesn't allow him many friends. These guys call him just to say hello, it makes his day. My husband & I are so touched by their caring, they did this on their own, but introduced themselves to me which in the world we live in, I appreciated. Grateful is a understatement.
And the gym is always clean. I belonged to a PF up in Connecticut for years, this leadership team in the Blanding location takes pride in what they do & it certainly shows. The Normandy location (where we joined) are also very nice, professional people, although the gym isn't kept up as well. Maybe because it's larger.
But if you need a gym check these guys out!! Staff like this is what makes any company successful!

1 star for taking away 24 hour access. Sell memberships based on it then post signs saying it’s not profitable to staff during those hours. Will change this if you bring 24/7 access back like every other planet fitness.

I pay $25 a month in membership fees. And y’all do not hesitate to take it out every month for the pass month or so the cleanliness of this establishment as gone down. At least the employees can do is make sure the Restroom and the shower area is clean and the equipment is not dusty. the restroom the toilets specifically Have been dirty for the past week and a half The same stains, and hair on the same toilet since last week.So I know if y’all not cleaning the restroom, you are not cleaning the shower area. I don’t know what happened to the management there but when the manager is there during the mornings and early afternoons The front desk workers was continuously, cleaning and dusting so it was never an issue also I did speak with someone and the problem is still not resolved.

Only suggestions, and might be more of a liability / safety consideration - bars for bench (incline, decline, flat). Bars for squats (rack) and deadlifts, cleans (Olympic lifting).

Went there for the first time today and no real complaints honestly its just REALLY small especially for how “packed” it was. Ill say there were only 7 people in the weight section but there was barely any room to move around without having to squeeze by and not enough space to give someone room to workout when wanting to grab or put back equipment

Great location. Clean, spacious, and decent location. Staff have been great so far. I like it a lot better than the location I used to frequent. I have only one complaint; the shower curtains are too small. The showers are bigger than the other location which is great but it seems that they have the same small shower curtain. When closed, they leave around a 5-7 inch space between the curtain and the wall. They could get bigger ones or just add an extra curtain to each stall to add coverage. Great overall though!

Unfortunately, a large portion of customers at this gym consist of younger kids who congregate and take out 1/4 at the gym at any given time.

I’m all for getting your workout in regardless of age, but the screaming, fooling around, and no consideration for other gym members is getting out of hand.

Their behavior often times deters me from getting a full workout. Better off going to Fleming island.

First it was I asked them about the veteran waiver for the annual fee and they all gave me the runaround saying they didn’t know anything. So I went to another one and they said something different as well. At the end of it all, they only ended up making it 10.00 instead of waiving it completely. So I’ve been going here since I’ve moved from GA and today I’m on the phone and a trainer by the name of Tiffany that works there comes up to me and tells me to take my call to the lobby. I’m pissed because other times I’ve came on the phone, no one said anything to me. On my way out she’s sitting there not in the lobby on her computer so what’s the difference. The place has too many rules, it’s not a real gym if you have to refrain from grunting and being loud. No way I’m paying my money to workout here and it’s a wall full of rules including the staff with their own. Definitely will be switching to somewhere else.

It's always going to be about the staff, for me. I'm a relationships person. So, when I'm greeted by name as I walk in the door, it has a big impact on how I perceive the environment or state of affairs /working conditions in the club. That, in turn, has an impact on the quality of my workouts. Happy staff, means happy working environment, means members are treated well! You all do a great job at this location. It's clean, the equipment is in good working order (except for that weird drip on one of the leg extensions, but that seems like an HVAC issue), I prefer the amenities here to any of the other locations on this side of town.
