I cannot wait to move so I can be near a different gym the Merritt Island Planet Fitness leaves a lot to be desired. This particular gym gets horrible management that doesn’t stay for long and then they get a new horrible manager a manager two times ago asked me if I was gonna take off my clothes and the room with the red light and instead of just asking me how long I needed to prepare this manager that is there currently has decided that after they send an email asking for a review he would like to personally call you and berate you about your review. This establishment would be better without management.

I’ve been a member with PF for over three years now, I have long distance personal trainer, so I have to record myself to be able to show her that I’m doing the right movements. Today I was approached by the staff saying I wasn’t allowed to record myself at the gym because others felt uncomfortable with it, it seems like people think I was recording them and not me. First of all I understand that some people don’t like to be in other people’s videos, I wasn’t actively recording anyone else but my self, the area that I was has all the equipment I needed for my work out. I understand that PF has a recording policy that until today, I believed it was only for the bathroom areas. People have the right to everything, including myself, I don’t see any employee available, walking around the gym to ensure people are doing their exercise correctly, if I get hurt, PF or the person who feel bothered by the fact that others are recording THEMSELVES, aren’t going to pay the costs for it. I felt extremely embarrassed to have someone approach me to say that a third person didn’t like the fact I was trying to record MYSELF, again I wasn’t actively recording anyone else. The front desk lady told me I could go to the back room and record myself, does the back room offer all the equipments available in the open space or do I have to limite myself because of others need? If people need their privacy so much, they should buy an island. We live in society and the only place you’re right to demand privacy is at home. The moment you step out of your house, you CANNOT control others. I truly believe PF change this policy because it’s becoming more normal for people to have online personal trainers and record themselves at the gym, if not you’re definitely losing more of your younger crowd.

Their membership management is ridiculous. People have to be there in person to cancel the membership and there is no option online. They even asked me to mail them a letter if I could not be there myself. NO EMAIL OPTION!!!!!! Since I moved to another state in a rural area where the planet fitness is way far only in town, they said I couldn’t even use the membership card since it’s not my home store where I registered at the beginning! Is this a chain store???? What a ridiculous customer service it is??? They have offered me a transfer option and it takes forever to transfer my account to the store in my current state. This location has odd hours. There's no other way to describe it. Far from the 24 hours most locations offer. Looking to get an early workout in on weekend? Not here.

Further, restrooms are frequently down, along with water bottle fillers. Hot water is often an issue...don't plan on showering...and finally, repairs to these key infrastructure are incredibly slow.

If you respond to a survey internally from Planet Fitness with any complaints, the local manager will reach out and tell you their plans to repair. With little apology or concern to keep your business. Overall it seemed he was annoyed that I dare respond to a survey they sent me in the negative. The response should have been apology and gratitude for the feedback.

It also didn't speed up the response to repair concerns. For a time they were handing out free bottles of water when the fountains were down. This quickly became expensive, and the practice stopped although the fountains were not yet repaired.

I take no issue with the local staff. Customer service and public awareness is a dead art. They are no worse than most places. I don't expect Chic fil a quality politness here. These issues seem to be a symptom of poor building infrastructure and corporate America's inability to ingrain a customer first mentality to their employees.

It's also likely an inefficient corporate structure, making the ability to respond quickly to a local issue with likely service contract obligations with poor vendor performance slowing overall response. I don't think the local manager has the ability to go to the next plumber that'll just get the job done today.

Price is cheap, yes, but this location has been underwhelming. And if anyone from Planet Fitness reads this and wants to reach out to me...don't...just make the corrections. I don't have the time to tell you how to improve again. I just did.

This is a very spacious gym. There are many many machines so you don’t ever have to wait and you can work out every muscle in your body. Planet fitness also has massage chairs, water, therapy, chairs, tanning bags and also red light therapy chambers. As a black card member, you can bring your friend as well. I belong to the gym on Merritt Island. I hear that you can go to any Planet Fitness with your card. I’m not sure if they have all the things that the one does on Merritt Island, though.

I’ve never seen an establishment where they don’t even acknowledge you ,not all but some of the early women staff at Planet Fitness are often unresponsive. I know it may be early, but if I try to make an effort to be positive, you’d think the staff could at least try to reciprocate. It feels unwelcoming and frustrating, especially when you're starting your day. Hopefully, they'll get better, but this really makes the company look very unprofessional.

As for the gym itself, it is perfect, and I feel anyone can get where they want with the proper routine. The only downside is when a machine is broken for a while, but they are getting better at addressing this.

A gym should prioritize cleanliness and basic facilities, but Planet Fitness completely fails in this regard. The men’s bathroom consistently has only one (sometimes zero) working stalls for 20-30 people, and instead of fixing the issue, management just hangs signs and tapes off toilets, leaving members without proper restroom access. A clean, fully functioning bathroom is essential for a sanitary facility—without it, germs and bacteria spread more easily, making the entire gym feel unsanitary.

To make matters worse, most members don’t clean the equipment after use, and the staff does nothing to enforce hygiene standards. Ironically, the gym is clearly overstaffed, as employees often stand around chatting with each other instead of addressing these health concerns. It’s frustrating to see them ignore basic maintenance and cleanliness while still charging members full price.

The overall lack of care, sanitation, and accountability makes this gym feel neglected and uninviting. Definitely not worth it.

I decided to rate this location a two because a) it is small and everyone is crammed, b) there are a lot of transients that are working out in appropriate clothing and crowding the small workout space on the left hand side of the place, some of which are drowning in cologne, the entire time I was nauseous! Additionally, the WiFi is non existent. When I asked a young lady with dirty blond hair or maybe a bit red, a natural red, she said, “I cannot change it besides it is not our priority.” It’s not your priority clients have what they need to use the facilities they pay for? I could not use my phone at all - for music. I kept moving around to see if I could catch a bar…and with full bars, the service is unforgivable. The entire experience was extremely disappointing. I will be searching for a new gym.

2 close friends recently visited this establishment for their workout. The reception and treatment they received was very unprofessional. They were not greeted, welcomed, or spoken to. When this was brought to their attention, the gyms response was rude, and abusive. When asked for an explanation, they were informed they were banned and threatened with legal action. This is a great place to work out and get physically fit. All of the employees here are friendly and ready to help. I especially love the training I receive from Beth.
She has been so kind and patient and helping me with all of the classes. She has given me the confidence I need to stay with the program.
When some of the exercises seemed too difficult, she showed me some baby-steps too help me get to the next step.

I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and actually start working towards a healthier lifestyle. I usually attened a different location. I stopped into this one because it fit with my schedule for the day. The machines were cramped together in some areas and oddly spaced in others, the patrons there were impatient loud grunting people despite other machines being available, everythingwas coatedin a layer of grime and smelled, the bathrooms were dirty and oddly set up with the changing area across the hall from the showers. I recieved an email asking to complete a survey after my visit. I did and rated it 5/10 stars and gave details to why. I recieved a PHONE CALL from a very grumpy general manager wanting to discuss my survey a few days later. I declined several times before I finally hung up. All my reasoning were in the survey. Not only is that weird and highly unprofessional but I never consented to being contacted. It felt invasive and intimidating.

The Merritt Island Planet Fitness is an excellent gym! It is well equipped and maintained, and staffed with friendly, knowledgeable people. We really like being able to visit at all hours of the day. My wife and I were getting-in a late workout last night, and we had a great conversation with staff member “Mason”, who helped us with one machine. It’s hard to beat their low cost basic membership. I skipped the gym for most of the pandemic, but it’s good to be back!

As a connoisseur of gym experiences, I must say Planet Fitness has truly outdone themselves in the realm of customer "disservice." The front desk is manned by none other than Karen, the Gatekeeper of Gloom. Her welcoming smile is as absent as the 'Lunk Alarm' in a library, and her charm rivals that of a treadmill out of service.

01/18/2024 The moment I walked in, Karen greeted me with the enthusiasm of a sloth on a lazy Sunday. Her skill at persuading members to cancel their memberships is unparalleled. One might think she's working on commission for the competitors. I asked a simple question about gym facilities, and in return, I received a glare that could curdle protein shakes.

I must applaud Karen, though. She is consistent. Consistently terrible. She has an uncanny ability to turn a delightful day into a scene from a fitness horror story. I half-expected to hear thunderclaps and see lightning bolts every time she spoke.

In conclusion, if you're looking to lose motivation faster than you can say "burpee," then Planet Fitness, under Karen's reign of terror, is the place for you. Here, the only thing getting thinner is the line between indifference and outright disdain.

Charged me 52 damn dollars after I came in for a showers once which I never even took one since the facilities suck and the refuse to cancel my membership after I moved unless I show up in person or mail a letter and what's worse ian the assistant manager said even if I lock my card "we still have your bank info we'll still charge you" this place sucks take your money elsewhere
