I've joined this gym a few months ago, but I have to say it's not very clean. For the most part staff is friendly, but the gym could be a little cleaner. Large spiderwebs on window corners and on signs, a lot of dust, the locker and bathrooms are not very clean and it smells. Not a very welcoming environment. As a paying member, I'd like to see this place being taken care of. 12/1/25 If you are the owner and are responding to the review, please take action from the review/feedback I provided. I’ve been utilizing this facility for several years now. It’s always been a nice place until the last year or so. There are always multiple machines out of order for several weeks at a time. And, most importantly, it’s become filthy. The exercise area itself, but more importantly, the bathrooms are an absolute atrocious. They supposedly just did some type of renovation, but absolutely nothing has changed. The facility needs to be closed down for a few days and a deep, deep clean needs to be done. I’m a black card member, so I can just switch to a different locations, but this one is most convenient and I’m hoping they will start making some improvements. I travel home often to Pennsylvania, and the facility I go to there is absolutely spotless. You can all do better!

This planet fitness is very dirty. Many machines are out of order. The staff is not doing their job. I only go here because of the distance from my house to the gym, but I have to say alot of this negative reviews are 100% true. This gym definitely needs alot of work, but i think it's because the staff is not on top of what's wrong with the facility & also they don't clean.

I only go to this gym if i'm pressed for time because it's close to where I live. Otherwise, I drive another five minutes to go to a better gym.But I would not recommend this gym at all. The only upside is that the staff is very friendly.When you walk in. But don't bother wasting your money

I signed up for the $10/mo plan around March 2025. In Oct, Planet Fitness upgraded my plan to the $25/mo plan without my authorization. When I asked, they said they could downgrade my plan to the $15/mo plan. That is a 50% increase which didn't sit well with me so I cancelled my membership.

BEWARE!!! This gym has good hours, though some of the equipment is out of order., and there may be wait for popular machines. But BEWARE they have a tricky clause in their agreement that basically allows them to charge you their hefty annual fee even AFTER you end your membership!!! This happened to me and I spoke to the manager Joe and he referred me to a clause somewhere in their long contract that allows him to commit this robbery. I was thinking of signing up again next year, but definitely not anymore. I wonder why PF thinks it’s good business to lose the proceeds from a potential lifelong member over a fee they know in good conscience shouldn’t be charged after a membership ends. This experience really left a bad taste in my mouth.

I want to highlight the excellent service at this Planet Fitness location, especially thanks to Brooke. She is always attentive, kind, and active around the gym—whether it’s cleaning, helping, or simply greeting members. What really stands out is her constant smile, even at 6 or 7 in the morning.

For a while, I hadn’t seen her at the gym and honestly thought Planet Fitness had let go of such a great employee. Today, as usual, I came in at 7 AM and was happy to see her again. I even walked over to say how glad I was to see her back, and she told me she had just been on vacation—of course, with the same smile on her face.

This lady banned me from this location for absolutely no reason I came in and used the bathroom and came out and I was banned I scanned my black card in before going to the bathroom. Instead of her explaining to my guest that the massage chair is only for me she was very rude and ignored my guest which is not acceptable. I’ve been coming here for years and never had this issue me and my guests have always been allowed to get on the chair and I even have pictures and videos of us on the chairs together. But I will be escalating this to cooperate so whenever this review is reviewed please contact me with a direct email so that I can better understand why I am banned again check the cameras from 9am-9:45am you will see all I did was scan my app use the restroom and all of a sudden im banned.

Upon arrival this lady was very rude, she was discriminating me since i came in , she called me a cracker under her breath and call a “manager and got me banned” i never cause a problem or did anything to this woman you can run the camera back from 7:30am -9:45 . Planet Fitness started in 1992, when founders Michael and Marc Grondahl purchased a struggling Gold's Gym franchise in Dover, New Hampshire. They eventually closed that original location and opened a gym called Coastal Fitness. They added a third partner, former CEO Chris Rondeau. In 2002, they purchased the rights to the name Planet Fitness from Rick Berks who had started his own Planet Fitness gym in 1993 in Sunrise, Florida. He got the name from his daughter's school project, Fitness Planet.

Today Planet Fitness is chain of gyms with memberships as low as $10 a month. It has more than 7 million members and is one of the fastest-growing health club franchises in the U.S. The company has around 2,600 clubs making it one of the largest fitness club franchises by number of members and locations. The company majority is owned by private-equity firm TSG Consumer Partners.

This Planet Fitness location is in the Planet Fitness Plaza on Powerline Road in Pompano. This isn't my usual gym so I enjoyed checking out another Planet Fitness to compare. Pompano seemed larger and more open than my gym. The equipment was set up in similar locations so I could find what I wanted. Some of the machines that get backed up in my local gym were more available here. They also had four of my beloved iFIT bikes compared to the two my gym has. The only thing I didn't like was it felt very hot in here. I would have appreciated lowering the AC. Like my gym, the Pompano location is also 24 hours which I love. Sometimes I like to come very late on the weekends when the gym is empty so I can feel I little more free in trying new things. This location also has the Black Card area for the $25 a month members with tanning beds, hydro beds, and massage chairs. I barely have enough time to work out never mind lie around so this has not been an appealing upgrade for me. The locker room has showers but that is another feature that I don't care to use.

Overall I have been happy with Planet Fitness. I have been going on a regular basis for a few months now and can see the change in my body. The hours are great and I can pop in for as little or as long as I have. The machines are easy to use and they have videos on You Tube and QR codes on the machines so you know how to use them. There are so many ways to work out that I am never bored. I try to learn a new machine each time I come and I incorporate both cardio and weights into my workouts. Whatever part of your body that you want to work on, there are numerous ways to get there. Best of all this gym is not intimidating for beginners but is equally great for the hard core fitness fanatic. People stick to their own thing and you can feel comfortable doing yours in the "Judgement Free Zone."

You can download the Planet fitness app that makes check in a breeze, tracks your progress and workouts, and where you can even find home workouts. The app also lets you know how crowded the gym is. I like that it works with the Apple Health app on my watch. So far this is the longest fitness routine I have stuck to and it has seeped into other areas of my life like a better diet and more regular visits to the doctor to keep up with my health goals and to think it all started with the first time I stepped through the door of a Planet Fitness.

A very annoying situation happened today (March 14 around 9am). This Planet Fitness has a “policy” (is not written anywhere) that you can't workout with your gym bag (small) where I carry my towel, my water bottle, my cell phone, my car keys, and my training gloves. There's a woman who works there, she made me really embarrassed by stopping at the entrance to the exercise place and telling me that I must put my bag in the lock and she was very rude, and I was seeing that several people were carrying small training bags around the gym, so we have to carry everything in our hands that we need to train and put our towel and our phone on the floor?! This is disgusting!!! She said something to me once, but it was in the stairmaster area she only said can not be at the floor the bag, so I thought that I couldn't leave it on the floor in that area, so I started hanging my bag so that it wouldn't be on the floor, but today it happened again and she said that it was a company policy, a policy that isn't written anywhere, and that everyone comes in and the exercise machines have a place to hang their bag, and seems this particular woman only said this to me, it seems like she has something against me, I done know! I choose planet fitness because is so close to my house only 3 minutes drive, and I am really upset and I don’t know if I want continue to go there.

I was a brand new member to this gym and the general manager looks about 12 years old with the attitude of a little girl. Doesn’t understand customer service especially with new clients. The location is great. It’s walking distance to the house and they have most of what you need. U fortunately couple safety hazards that were brought up to management over the last few months yet no one has taken any action. Cable pulleys are cut or exposed leaving a sharp edge. Sliced my forehead once on a tricep pull down. Now they have zip ties which also serve a purpose as a weapon when trying to use these cable machines. Improper labeling of machine weights on these cable pull downs also cause confusion. These have been mislabeled since they have been installed. Notified them immediately years ago when I noticed, yet still the same incorrect weight stickers are presented. Cancelling my membership after this month since no one in management seems to care.also maybe fix the urinal that has been out of order for a month+ now.

On June 21st, 2024, they cleaned out my locker that had my towels in and they lost them. When I asked who took them out I was told it was the manager. When I asked the front desk how I am supposed to dry up after showering they kept telling me sorry and that there is nothing they can do. And they went ahead to tell me that they sell towels. If it is the manager that took them out then that’s a very irresponsible manager. The manager should not be a manager in the first place. On top of that, there was a different desk clerk that I talked to on the same day between 10:30 pm and 10:50 pm about my towels that were lost and the guy who works for planet fitness went ahead and said to me: “it’s not normal for somebody to leave a towel in a locker.” I was so shocked I did not say anything and I couldn’t believe an employee would talk to a customer this way. That was very rude and insensitive. Even though it was towels in a locker, they could have just removed them with gloves, put them in a plastic bag for me and cleaned the locker they were in with some disinfectant. For somebody who works for a company to just tell a customer that’s not normal for somebody to leave towels in a locker was plainly disrespectful. In addition to that, after this planet fitness desk clerk talked to me that way in the locker, he walked away from me and literally 3 seconds later I heard this desk clerk’s voice echoing about my towels outside the locker and about 5 to 6 second later a couple of guys went inside the locker walking very close to me and laughing at the same time. And then while I was showering I heard a guy said”que p**o” in Spanish and I heard his voice as it was close to the shower section where I was showering at. That was one of the worst experiences that I had at this planet fitness location.

Bathroom door and each of the male and female bathrooms was off, trash is overflowing, trash on the floor in the bathrooms throughout, and you could also see paper materials and dust all over the floor and some of The equipment..
The mail bathroom especially is dirty. It is very bright inside, people seem to get along but a lot of young kids on the machine just messing around. The typical summer stuff when they allow these kids in for free.
A lot of people on their cell phones on the machines or working out.
Parking lot is extremely small, the place is really crowded on a Tuesday at lunch time. The parking lot is not RV or 18-wheeler tractor friendly unless it is extremely small.
Two staff members always behind the counter but nobody walking around cleaning that we saw. We were there for approximately 2 hours today.
If you have the option to use another gym as your permanent gym, definitely check that one out first.

I never thought that going to the gym would bring me so much joy.
it's been quite a journey for me since I started March first.
I have started from 210 lbs now I'm down to 175 lbs my goal is 160... Not trying to be skinny just trying to be healthy.
I thought I would be embarrassed.... But to my excitement ... I fit in like a glove.
I asked the attendance how some of the machines worked and they walked me through it ... Now I'm sexy as hell and loving the skin I'm in.

Some guy wearing a staff shirt who was claiming to be the manager took his willy out and started talking to me while he was touching himself. I told the new staff girl about the indecency and she asked for my name and contact info. He was short haired, maybe middle eastern guy, and had a beard with grey in it.

After complaining about the indecent exposure another staff member said the manager claimed I broke something and wasn't allowed to return. What a joke right, like I want to go to some gym where that's going on. And claiming I broke something and didn't report it myself is just flat out nuts. I really like the vibe of this gym, but I hope I don't have to use the restroom any time I come here. The stalls are really gross, you will see a mix of dust particles and streaks of cleaner where the cleaner was sprayed, but the wall wasn't wiped down. The mirrors are dirty and there is grime in the corners of all areas of the bathroom and locker room. They need to do better with that. Otherwise, I like that the gym has a lot of machines and it's never too crowded.

This location is fine besides the men’s locker room. It’s seriously one of the grossest locker rooms I’ve ever been in my life. Worse than a high school. There’s always trash on the floor and the floor itself has visible dirt all over in the shower areas. Pubes everywhere. Paper towels and toilet paper all over the floor. The showers themselves are full of grime and pubes and random trash people throw in the shower. You have to flush the toilets 3 times to flush so most people just leave there little surprise for someone else to see when they go to use the stall. An entire bathroom stall door has been missing for over a week with no attempt at a temporary fix. I’ve seen the place go days without being touched it’s like the cleaning staff will purposely avoid this area.

If I ever use it I try not to touch a single thing as it feels like I’ll catch Hepatitis A or something it’s the most unsanitary bathroom I’ve ever witnessed in my life. If you don’t believe me, come to this location and ask for a free tour. I’m probably under exaggerating how bad it is.

This is one of the nicest locations in south Florida. Being a stage 4 refractory Hodgkin’s lymphoma survivor, I have chronic neuropathy in my feet and am unable to wear shoes to work out in. After some explanation, they accommodated my needs.

Well, it's not a bad gym... I wish they would take a little better care of their equipment and drop the stupid rules. What do I mean? Well, some machines don't work real well if you don't put a drop or two of oil on them regularly... they are pretty lax in this department. I bring my own very tiny bottle and do it myself. I shouldn't have to do this. Also, some of the pads on the equipment are cracked and should have the covers replaced. Also, some of the heart monitors on the cardio machines don't seem to work properly. It seems they should have these checked on a regular basis and repaired when found to be not working correctly.
Also, recently a female friend of mine and I went there and she was told she could NOT bring in her little rubber band things to exercise with because they were considered "outside equipment" and are dangerous. This is really, really stupid, especially since on this day I personally saw a couple women using these very same things on the gym floor. Apparently you can use the long ones, but the short one's are deadly and not allowed... at least not for some people anyway. Overall, I like the gym except for these not overly huge annoyances.

It's always clean in there. People aren't crowded around all the machines. You have a lot of room to work out. They always keep the spray bottles filled and at your reach and their non-judgmental here! I highly recommend

I love this place - my second choice while in Florida. People are much friendlier than the one at 3600 N Federal Hwy (North of Oakland park Bl). I see there are new equipment at this location - a nice improvement!

Filthy locker rooms, disgusting showers, toilets seats were broken, and wreaked of urine! Rude front desk staff. Has any employee done anything but stand there? Cause no one is cleaning!

So far every location I've been to is Spacious enough. They still provide cleaning supplies to be utilize on whatever exercise equipment you choose to work on. And I absolutely love the ability to relax in the Massage recliners or the Therapeutic Bed machines after a nice work out.

This is a great Planet Fitness location. We were at the new location on Federal Highway until we had a horrible incident with management. Once we found out this location was owned by a different franchise company, we tried it. We have always been greeted with a smile by their amazing front desk team! Equipment selection is excellent with 6 Smith Machines and a great layout.
